Where do I start? Life changing! I have my quality of life back. Able to walk again and my pain is gone. I was in excruciating chronic pain to the point I was unable to sleep, unable to stand up, and unable to walk. My mind was unable to comprehende how since I am only in my 30’s which is a young age for spine issues. I decided to take pain medication and seek out help. The confusing part was there are numerous options to use from a neurologist, chiropractor, physical therapy, and steroid injections known as an epidural. For months I researched and after reading reviews about Dr. Wimberley it was time to make an appointment to find out more. I allowed Texas Orthopedic to manage my care. Dr. Wimberley ordered an MRI to see the image and came to the conclusion I had degenerative back disease. Basically I was born with a bad back. In layman‘s terms two bad back people had a baby. There is no injury or anything sudden that happened to cause my spine to herniate. At first I was still blaming myself until Dr. Wimberley said this is not my fault and there is nothing I could have done to prevent this. The spaces between my L4-L5 and L5-S1 are significantly shorter. I was scared to have surgery and decided to try the epidural injections even though Dr. Wimberley informed me the discectomy was the best route. Well he was right, the injections allowed me to be pain free for two to three weeks. I followed up with Dr. Wimberley and he stressed I get the surgery before the condition progressed and still I apprehensive to have surgery. Well the pivotal moment came when I found myself needing immediate help. I went to a chiropractor a few times with no relief. I called Dr. Wimberley’s office and was on the schedule. Meanwhile, I was at home miserable in constant pain unable to sleep and found myself crying due to how unbearable the pain was. All the muscle relaxers and pain pills could not fix my condition. I am so grateful Dr. Wimberley helped me gain my life back. Being in chronic pain effects your quality of life including your loved ones around you; therefore, this is no way to live. My only regret is not having the discectomy sooner. I sought out Dr. Wimberley due to his reputation. As a registered nurse I knew that I needed to have confidence in a surgeon that would provide exceptional work. My advice is to go the route of a highly trained surgeon that specializes only in orthopedic spine. Dr. Wimberley is a Harvard graduate so the program for training is extensive and only the top percent of the class is accepted into the orthopedic program. Dr. Wimberley is confident and a straight shooter. He will inform you without sugarcoating what you need to know. I was taken aback with how he talks; however, after making several appointments seeking his advice realized he got this far due to his talented spine work, not for winning a personality contest. My suggestion to anyone reading this is to live life again and surround yourself with family that will assist you to be there when you have a discectomy. As a registered nurse who is always caring for others, I found it difficult to give up my autonomy. However, there is no way I can continue to care for others if I’m suffering in pain. The surgery was the right decision for me. I am able to bike ride outdoors and feel 100% normal again. I will always be cognizant of my spine and not doing strenuous activity to herniate again. I am blessed to cross paths with Dr. Wimberley. I will forever be thankful for him and helping me walk pain free without suffering. My message to others is please do not suffer in chronic pain anymore. Please do not allow pain to get the best of you and take the joy out of life. Please go on the journey and have a discectomy. Having my life back is priceless. I hope to inspire others and advocate for people to have a discectomy. While celebrating Thanksgiving, Dr. Wimberley was on my heart along with my family and friends for their support in my journey to walk again.

I read some of the negative reviews and quite frankly question their validity. Dr. Wimberley was absolutely spectacular. He gave the cold hard facts of my weight, he answered every question that I had with patience, he didnt promise the moon in fact, he was optimistically cautious. I had complete faith in him and it turns out my instincts were spot on. Surgery went well. At todays follow up, he now suggests physical therapy. Dr. Wimberley is a doctor who will follow up... I am super thankful that I didnt pay attention to a few negatives. I suspect those negative reviews were people who didnt want to hear the truth. Either about their physical condition or need for drugs/surgery. I encourage you to dismiss those, and schedule and see for yourself. Glad I did!

Extraordinarily skilled surgeon, backed by an excellent staff and top notch hospital. Well worth the drive from Louisiana. He is meticulous and efficient - no wasted time with endless appointments strung out over weeks. Highly recommend you consult him for an opinion if spinal surgery has been suggested.

I was afraid to have fusion of L4L5. Don’t know why I worried. Dr. Wimberley is an incredibly gifted surgeon who makes you feel confident in his ability. I have no pain after suffering for over 6 years. I’m thankful I found him and would recommend him to anyone considering a fusion. My quality of life has changed for the better after my surgery.

The best Surgeon EVER! I had a rough time sleeping, walking, sitting, etc. due to pain from L5-S1. There was basically no disc remaining. I tried aquatic therapy for 6 months and learned the techniques so I could continue at home in my pool, stretching daily trying to keep my lower core strong and then 4 sets of injections within a 3-4 month period. Nothing worked. My physician referred me to Dr. Wimberley. I was terrified of surgery but the pain was getting worse each week. I had two surgeries, the first on Oct 21st where they went in the front, lifted my spine and inserted a cage. Two days later, Oct 23rd I had the second surgery where he made 2 small incisions on each side of my spine in the back side and installed 2 bars for re-enforcement. 5 weeks later I was driving, went back to work 6 weeks after surgery (minimum 1 hour drive each way) and today 3 months later I am no longer feeling the pain I had before, sleeping all night and just started rehab. I am doing great!!! Dr. Wimberley and Nizar are the best at what they do and I am so grateful to a new start to my new life! Thanks Dr. Wimberley!!!!

I would highly recommend Dr. Wimberley for anyone who needs back surgery. I had back pain for years and eventually started having numbness in my right leg. A MRI and X-ray showed I had Spondylolisthesis with a 9mm offset. Dr. Wimberley was recommended to me by my chiropractor. He made me feel at ease and kept me informed about every step of the procedure (a L4-L5 fusion). I had always heard that you should never have back surgery, but my experience has been great. Dr. Wimberley promotes a very aggressive rehab program and my recovery time has been relatively quick as a result. The key to recovery is to do what he says. He has done a lot of these procedures and has learned from those experiences. So, when he says you should get up and walk the evening of the surgery, when the nurse or PT comes to get you, get up and walk! I have followed his directions every step of the way and now, 3 months after my procedure, I feel basically back to normal. No more back pain, no more leg numbness.

After seeing a doctor who told me I was making things up in my head about my back for a year, I was blessed to find Dr Wimberly. He was quick to perform surgery on my herniated disc which was causing chronic pain in lower back making it hard to move. I am 98 % recovered after a quick surgery. My scar is tiny. I recently injured my neck and went to him again. I trust his guidance on my recovery without surgery this time. Extremely grateful.

Incompetent and condescending. Spoke to my mom as if she had nothing more than a 1sr grade education. He should learn how to interact with patients with various educationalAnd ethic backgrounds. I hope to never encounter this man again in my life.
