Ever since we moved my mom in, everything has been smooth and easy. Shes made so many friends, she enjoys all the meals (doesnt miss one) and definitely takes part in all of the activities. Shes gotten so much more independent that we see my old moms self returning. The staff is so friendly - they really like what theyre doing and dont make it seem like work.

Elder abuse happened to my dad in memory care at Atria Westchase on Richmond Ave in Houston, TX. My dad died there this month. Highland Hospice , who Atria recommended that I use , came and approved my dad for hospice two days before he died . I was told all comfort meds , diapers and wipes would be supplied and paid for my Medicare . When I showed up , less than 24 hours before he died- there was not a diaper or wipe or any comfort meds . They had not fed my dad in 3 weeks , he was in a dirty number two diaper and no skilled nurse is on staff there or in call there. I kicked atria employees out of the room and hired a great doctor from the VPA and Stead fast hone health is great and Karen my dad’s speech pathologist dropped what she was doing to come suction out my dad’s throat and mouth swab him with liquids and he could no longer swallow . Thanks to the VPA ( visiting physicians association) and Karen from steadfast home health and finally we got a great crisis male nurse sent from hospice - he showed up at 8:30 am . I made calls all through the night and morphine and oxygen showed up right before 5 am . I had to administer morphine to my dad myself because atria has no skilled nurse on staff and no skilled nurse on call . Atria would not even bring me a hot meal to my dad’s room for me to eat - they wanted to charge me extra . I have been paying atria over $8000 a month - they had not fed my dad in 3 weeks & they would not give me my dad’s meal that we already paid for to his room . I will be traumatized by this elder abuse my dad received for the rest of my life . Do not send anyone you care about to this awful facility !

A family member of mine was elder abused at Atria Westchase on Richmond Ave in Houston , TX . He died there with no comfort meds , no diapers, no wipes - even though hospice had been approved the day before . They are all nice until they get your money and then they don’t even check on the elderly that need help the most . Never send anyone you love to this awful facility!

We placed my mother in law here after the sudden death of her spouse and sad diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. Atria has given her the feeling of still being independent and maintaining her dignity. They are so kind and accommodating to her. We live very close and myself and husband pop in usually twice a day. We are always met with friendly smiles and a very clean, comfortable environment. If your making the hard decisions regarding your love one, do yourself a favor and visit Atria. We did visits at other facilities and much research before deciding on Atria. We couldn’t be happier and it’s so nice to have the peace of mind that she is being well cared for.

The lady name Elizabeth thought I was gone work here for $10 an hour. That’s not enough money and I stay too far from this job. She hung up in my face. She rude. Don’t call or leave me anymore voice messages.

On December 28th my father, who is in an advanced stage of Alzheimer’s, needed to go into a home because his wife, his sole caregiver, had a stroke and could no longer care for him. At the time he was walking, eating, talking and smiling. At the end of two weeks at this facility he could do none of these things. After two weeks, Atria discharged him to a county hospital to be treated for behavioral problems. He deteriorated quickly to not being able to speak, barely able to open his eyes and difficulty swallowing. He is now in hospice care and staying in another facility until his wife becomes stronger and able to care for him again. Atria would not take him back because he requires preparation of liquid food and hand feeding. My father was only in their “care” for two weeks and they have not responded to multiple requests to return the $2000.00 deposit they received.

Our family has such gratitude for Atria Westchase for the excellent care they gave to our dad. There were complicated circumstances, which were all handled with professional and personal care. We especially thank Kim Parnell, Senior Executive Director and Nina Mitchell, Resident Service Director. They were attentive to our familys concerns to assure our fathers outstanding care. Special thanks to every caregiver working at Westchase - Michele, Maria, Esther, Liz and everyone who worked with dad.

I am so grateful for this wonderful, loving environment, which is home to my mom.I have never encountered a disgruntled employee. They are all so competent, compassionate, and caring. There is a great effort to not only meet the health needs of the residents, but also their intellectual, social and spiritual needs. From singing, crafting, crosswords, movies, bingo, and parties to church service on Sunday, there is always something going on. I am a cheerleader for this place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants peace of mind concerning the care of a parent.

So many of the staff are extra special, but I want to compliment and thank Michelle particularly. Just after Christmas, my mother had a very bad night, and Michelle spent the whole night with her offering comfort and warmth to see her through. From the moment I met Michelle, I sensed that she was an extraordinary caregiver.

My mother spent the last 9 years of her life here, and she called it home. The staff was always wonderful and always pampered her--just like my daddy would have done. I hope I am lucky enough to be with people who care this much when my time comes.

After around 2 weeks of stay at Atria Westchase Memory Care unit, the manager sent my husband to the behavioral hospital and decided not to accept him back because he is too far in the advanced stage of alzheimer. Atria nursing home broke the contract and refused to return my request of $2,000 and half of the monthly fee.

Atria is much more than a job to me, its like coming home everyday. My co-workers are very nice and we always work as a team. I know we are here to brighten the residents day, but they actually brighten my day with all the jokes and laughs. I would definitely recommend Atria as an extraordinary workplace.

The staff are very patient with my mother. They listen to your concerns and try to find solutions that help improve mothers care. Kim Parnell, and Kendrwy Veloz need to be considered as outstanding staff. They show outstanding concern, and take positive and immediate action when there is a need.

Dear Westchase Director.Ms. Elizabeth Hr person is not a very nice person. She was upset that I called about the shuttle driver position but she politely covered it up by saying yes I have ur resume and it does not look like you have what we are looking for she did not say what she was looking for but had already determined that it was not me, so it must be nice to judge people over the phone and it is easy to be rude over the phone and cover it up politely by saying well thank you for following up she also mentioned that we dont hire people just because they desperately need a job we hire someone to be the right fit, well how do you judge that over the phone? Did not even grant me an interview. I would be a perfect fit my driving is perfect my customer skills are excellent I love working with all kinds of people especially the elderly but no she made her determination and politely told me to get lost. That is what Atria Westchase hires judgemental people who dont give people a chance cant even meet them in person to see that I would be the right fit. Thank you Ms Elizabeth for not giving me a chance and for shooting me down over the phone- politely of course! The person who took my message 2days ago for elizabeth or shay she was so excited that I called and was happy to pass along my message, sorry I didnt get her name but she was a friendly person. Ms Elizabeth should have handled my call in a more professional manor not in a judgmental manor as if to say Do you have a question for me? What it sounded like was who are you? and why are you bothering me? Ms. Director I hope you can straighten this out to where I can be treated fairly, I thought all applicants were to be treated in the same manor and not discriminated against. Thank you. Sincerely. Annette Ryskala.

I remember working with an Executive Director that was to me, the epitome of someone who got things done. If we were missing ketchup, we went to go get some, if we needed more ice cream, we went to go get some and if we needed a high chair for an infant we went to go get one. It was never we’ll do it later. There was no red tape and no unnecessary bureaucracy, when it comes to taking care of the residents. “NO” was never the answer. Nowadays so many places offer lackluster service because management is too lazy to do anything about the degrading state of their respective facilities. But it is nice to see that there are still hard working people around, and many happen to be working here locally at Atria Westchase

Habiba Alam has a true servants heart. She treats every resident with kindness and gentleness. She always has a smile for everyone she sees. With both parents suffering dementia, the decision to move them to Assisted Living was difficult but necessary. Watching the way Habiba takes care of them and other residents gives me a great peace regarding where we chose for them to live.I am thankful and grateful that she is part of the loving Atria family.

The care that our loved one receives in the Memory Care Unit at Atria Westchase is simply splendid. It gives our family peace of mind knowing that she is looked after by such a loving team of caregivers. LESLY MARTINEZ, Life Guidance Director, is an exceptional person, both professionally and personally. Her team provides a warm cocoon of total care for residents, including such special treats as cooking, spiffy nail polish, and outings. Some of Ms. Martinezs able team members are: Jenifer Estrada, Habiba Alam, Wummy Jackson, Lisa Hernandez, Maria Gonzalez, Myriam Rendon, Natalie Trivino, Hortencia Hernandez, Rosalba Torrente, Marvia Crosswell, Jan Bolous, Brenda Guillory, and Enelda Gonzalez. Thank you, Atria Westchase!
