As a patient I found Dr. Skarubus to be very optimistic practitioner. On my first visit he covered all aspects of the surgical procedure as well as what to expect during the recovery period. He took the time to answer any and all questions my family and I had regarding this procedure and recovery.Also present during the initial consultation was Abbott medical representative, Joshua Morillon.Joshua explained the use of the spinal cord stimulation generator in a very easy to understand patient friendly manner.At the post-op visit Dr. Skarubus expressed his delight at the results the surgery produced. I am not as comfortable with modern technology compared with many of their patients, so Joshua made sure to gently guide me through the use and care of the monitor. He made sure I felt very comfortable and knew to properly use it.You will be in great hands with this team.

My SCS trial was fabulous, easy, non invasive. I received 90% pain relief. I recommend SCS for any back pain. All of the Abbott lab representatives have been communicated very well. I can’t wait for my permanent implant. Thank you Dr. Skaribas! He is kind and gently and I highly recommend him.

My husband has been seeing Dr. Skaribas since Dec 2020. His first injection went well and we were very happy with the results. He went for a second injection early March 2021. This experience was very disappointing. Dr. Skaribas did not see my husband after the injection and did not see him at the follow up appointment. He was seen by the assistant. She was less than helpful. It seems there is a change in the office staffing and they are at least very lax in responding to needs of their patients. Paperwork needed for him to return to work was not filled out at his appointment following the procedure which caused a delay in him returning to work. He was told that a muscle relaxer would be called into his pharmacy...we are still waiting over a week later. The only bright spot in this practice was the billing office. The lady there was very kind and responsive. She is the only reason they got at least one star. Otherwise they deserve a zero. I will be looking for another physician to help my husband.

As an individual who had previously been through 31 surgeries, with next to no relief in sight, I was very much looking forward to seeing Dr. Skaribas. Prior to my initial appointment, everything seemed to be going well. (Had to get authorization from workers compensation and other barriers.) After all of the loopholes had been gone through, I was contacted and given an appointment time (02/02/2021 @ 945am). At 523pm on 02/01/2021, I was contacted by their office to confirm my appointment for the next day at 900am. I informed the lady that my appointment was supposed to be at 945am and that I couldnt be there at 900am because of a previous obligation and because I lived 75 miles away. She then got rude stating that this is the time we have and youll either take it or not be seen. I then asked to speak to the office manager and she said that he or she had already left for the day. I then asked why it was my problem to be dealt with since someone in the office is the one who made the mistake. She said, hold on and let me talk to the provider. After about 8-10 minutes on hold, she then came back and said the decision was made to not see me as a patient and that I need to contact my case manager to find another provider and hung up on me.Here is my issue: these individuals need to understand that the people who come to see them have been in some of the worse case scenarios and seeing them is a last ditch effort before continuing a life of misery. A little compassion would go a long way. This lady had no care or concern that someone in their office had made an error and couldnt have cared any less to help me resolve the issue. As far as Dr. Skaribas concern, I cannot say whether or not he is a reputable doctor, as I am now unable to see him. However, it goes without saying that, his clinical staff are not very concerned, compassionate, or even care about the patients. She was totally disrespectful. Obviously, with it being after 5pm, she just wanted to go home and another sucker would take my place. If people like this knew that it was people like her that make people like me just one step closer to wanting to check out of this world. It isnt her that has to live with this life of pain and she just didnt want to be slightly inconvenienced to do the right thing.

I had been living with pain for over a year. It started in November of 2019. I was diagnosed February of 2020 with Spondylosis. COVID19 shut down the country in March. I was told not to have any unnecessary procedures done until after the pandemic. I couldnt stand the pain anymore so in October I contacted Dr Skaribas office. The staff was very accommodating. I was scared and didnt know what to expect. Dr Skaribas made me feel relaxed and answered all my questions. He immediately took charge and recommended a plan of action to make me pain-free. I didnt like the idea of back surgery and fusing my spine, so Dr Skaribas suggested I look into the implant that can control my pain without being as invasive. The insurance approved the trial and the implant. I am now living without the debilitating pain from before. It has reduced my pain by about 85%. I am no longer depressed and my desire to do things has come back. I had no idea how sad and depressed I had become, just from living with pain. Please if you are living with pain you dont have to. There is a way to get help. I strongly recommend Dr Skaribas and his staff at Expert Pain.

He is an amazing man, he changed my life. I was basically bedbound and with his surgical intervention and expertise...I am now completely ambulatory without the use of an aid. A month ago I had the lumbar surgery with Dr. Skaribis after the surgery I felt fine went back to work the next day maybe like a couple weeks after surgery I started feeling the same pain, to the point no medication would not work so I called the office and was told to ice it down so I did so it helped temporarily but I was still in pain so I decided to give it some time maybe it’s still healing......got even worse so I decided to set up an appointment with Dr Skaribis. Upon arriving to the office I was greeted with very nice office staff very helpful, after waiting for about 20 minutes I’m called to the back, even the guy who took my vitals was very nice after him comes in some Asian nurse never seen her before then she starts asking me about what’s going on all awhile I’m thinking where Is Dr Skaribis, she was very rude, and unprofessionalI can’t believe for one second she was apart of the staff of nice people I had just met..,,she had no idea what was going on, didn’t even look at or see my MRI and pretended like she knew what she was doing not even feeling where the pain was coming from she is not very good at what she does and I started getting angry because she started telling me all the medication she can prescribe but I told her I already have every medication she named , I stated to her none of them work she was basically trying to find a easy solution to patch things up and put a band aid on my issue she said I would need another surgery to fix the issue I told her I paid almost $1000 out of pocket for this I can’t afford another surgery then she stated well I’m sorry there is nothing else we can do? What! After taking my money and I’m still in pain? And I referred my friend here.....she needs classes on customer service....I will take further action about this matter but all the bad reviews on here are about her maybe that should tell you something....I just want the problem fixed.

I absolutely cant say enough amazing things about Dr. Skaribas and his entire staff. Fair warning.. This is a long review, but I wanted others to know about my experience, especially if you are as skeptical about Pain Management as I was. I have many medical issues including 57 surgeries that also include a right leg amputation, and severe back pain due to multiple disk herniations and spinal cord damage, so I KNOW pain. I have been in debilitating pain that almost forced me to quit my career I love and have been doing for 27 years because the pain was so bad, I could barely even get out of bed which in turn led to depression so bad that I was running out of hope quickly. I went to a pain management doctor over 10 years ago and swore I would NEVER EVER go that route again, because all he did was prescribe me FOUR Class 2 opioid pain meds at the SAME time despite my saying I didnt feel I needed to be taking all of them while I was still driving and working full-time, but he was the doctor not me right? After finding out he was billing my insurance company over $30k a MONTH for all of these 180 count bottles of narcotics that were conveniently filled at a pharmacy HE owned. I was DONE! I quit ALL of them cold turkey, and trust me the physical agony of deciding to stop taking Oxycodone, Hydromorphone, Fentanyl, and Narco ALL at once will make you NEVER trust pain management again. Fast forward to the beginning of May of this year (2020) when my orthopedic surgeon literally begged me to at least TRY pain management with Dr. Skaribas and he assured me he wasn’t the type to hand out pills, so after a month of putting it off, I decided to at least go for a consult. The staff up front was amazing as was the nurse and they could all tell how apprehensive I was to be there, and Dr. Skaribas was AWESOME and completely understood my concerns and took his time listening to me and thoroughly explaining my options and suggested a spinal neurostimulator that could not only help my severe back pain, but also the nerve pain in my residual limb from my amputation. The representative with Abbott (makers of the machine) came in and explained how it worked and answered all my questions and I was immediately on board with everything. His staff got me scheduled right away for the trial which was a huge success, and then for the surgery to have the machine permanently implanted. The Abbott reps were GREAT! (Edward, Jason, and John) They were there every step of the way before, during, and after and still call regularly to check on me and help if I need any machine adjustments or have any questions, I can reach out to them 24/7. It’s been 2 months now and I fully believe that Dr. Skaribas saved my life. I couldn’t even remember a life without debilitating pain until now, and I am so grateful for everyone at Expert Pain. Also a HUGE shout out to the girls at the front desk, they are always friendly and helpful whenever I call or come in and they really add even more to such a positive experience. If you are a person looking for a doctor to just hand out pain meds like candy, this is NOT the place for you. If you are truly wanting someone who cares about your well being and finding effective ways to actually treat your pain, then there is no better place to go. Thank you ALL again!!!!

This is the best office I have had dealings with in a long time. The staff are easy to deal with and always a ready smile. If your not happy with your doctor drop them and head this way. The nicest man you will ever meet and has no problem answering any questions and wants to know if your understanding just what is going on. No brush offs by anyone. Appointments are easy to get and not rushed. Wish I would’ve known about this place many years ago. Will not use anyone else again.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Skaribas~ He has positively impacted my life and continues to work with me on improving my quality of life. I highly recommend Dr. Skaribas~ I wish I could give him 10 stars! I have had a challenging chronic back and SI joint issue for almost a decade. I tried every product on the market, had seen numerous doctors, and tried all of the exercises and therapies to no avail. It had been a heartbreaking journey until I was referred to Dr. Skaribas. 2 Years ago I had a Nevro stimulator implanted from C4-C6 and I was miserable for years with HF10. Dr. Skaribas explanted Nervo’s system to Abbott’s and I’m doing so much better with Abbott’s SCS system. The customer service is so much better at Abbott than Nevro. I have my life back and feeling in my arms are back. Dr. Skaribas is the best pain Dr. in Houston. I’m off all of my pain meds thanks to him and Abbott. I’m back to work and I feel so much better about life. Thank you Dr. Skaribas! The staff is also great here at Expert Pain. Also, thank you Jason at Abbott. I don’t even think about my pain!

Dr. Skaribas is the most compassionate and skilled pain management doctor in Houston. He will spend as much time as you need during your visit. Also, he will go through various options to ensure you get the best care possible. His team gets an A+ for patient care as well. You can’t go wrong with Dr. Skaribas; he truly cares and wants to help!

Dr Skaribas is companionate and professional. He implanted the Nevro HF10 nerve stimulator for damage caused to my pudendal nerve by Dr Lotze, who abandoned my case once I discovered the damage was from his mesh. I feel like I am getting my life back.

Everyone in this office is very nice. I am a tad bit bothered because I feel like I paid $50 copay for an office visit for the doctor to just tell me what my MRI says in regards to my neck pain. My general doctor did not have me come in for them to tell me my results from the MRI. So why did I have to pay $50 for 5 minute conversation about the MRI. That information could have been made with a simple phone call. Instead everyone in the room is looking at me like I have some imaginary pain and it’s nothing they can do about it. I’m going to just find another doctor who can truly help me. One of the female personnel in the room with me was basically like, don’t look down so I won’t be in pain. So, I’m supposed to go through my entire life without looking down. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Great Dr. that knows how to attack pain. Dr. Skaribas was one of the only Drs. I talked to that seemed to actually know what I was describing, had clinical experience with my issues and the very latest treatments and seemed motivated to do all he could to help me address it. I have had a great experience with Dr. Skaribas and his office. They seem to really care.PS - wait times are very low, you get in and out quickly at this office. Best I have ever seen at any Dr. office.

Has more experience in Pain Medicine and specifically Neuromodulation that any of his peers in the Houston area. He is a skilled provider that has a great rapport with patients and is always doing whats best for them. I would highly recommend Dr Skaribas to anyone!
