This place is disgusting. The bed in my exam room was ripped, which obviously makes cleaning sufficiently impossible. The trash was overflowing in the exam room, there was trash on the floor, and the corners were filthy as well.

Being short staffed, having to wait 2 hours for a sore throat and not even being tested for strep is 1 thing….. but having to look at these floors made me sick to my stomach. This is unacceptable🤢

These folks are neither very friendly nor very competent. They advertise results in 15 minutes for the rapid COVID test, but they make you wait for a doctor visit (so they can bill your insurance for a Dr visit) to actually get the results. After waiting over an hour for the doctor without a single person coming into our room to check on us, we left. I went back later to get a print out of the results. Well see if they bill our insurance for the doctor visit that never happened. Based on other reviews here, I suspect they will. At any rate, when I went back to get the print out, they were just as unfriendly. There was an older woman there trying to get a refill prescription for her blood pressure medicine. This was Saturday evening and they were closing. She complained that they hadnt been answering the phone for an hour - I also had called once about 30-40 minutes earlier and no one answered - despite there being lots of employees sitting around both when I was there earlier in the day and at closing. The three employees behind the counter were very uncaring about her need for a refill, despite her being a regular patient there. They even said shed have to have a doctor visit to get a refill - kind of ridiculous being blood pressure meds arent just something you start and stop at will - my mother was on them for 40-50 years. At any rate, they tried several times to get her to leave and even had a male employee come out and tell us both to leave and that they were closed - it was 5:58PM - they close at 6PM. I told him I was just picking up a result. I also told her she might try calling an emergency afterhours number if AFC even has one. Long story long, avoid this place at all costs. Theres a lot wrong here.

Dont waste your time. A position was posted. Hesitated about applying because of the numerous bad reviews. Ms. K. Burns called. me. I returned the call and left a message. She sent an email inviting me to come to one of the two open interviews. I arrived early and waited 40 mins. Ms. Burns did not show up. The front office staff informed me that Ms. Burns had not arrived, she did not contact the clinic with any message and the staff was not aware of the interviews. Very unprofessional, my time was wasted.

After reading one bad review after another, I was pleasantly surprised to find my recent visit to this urgent care go smoothly.Courtney & Micah at the front desk were extremely helpful & courteous!Bryan, the medical assistant, was kind & professional.I had a short wait time. I only had to wait for my test results & that was about 25 minutes (which is normal amount of time to wait)!I would highly recommend this facility!Good experience!

If I could give 0 stars I would. The physician at this clinic is terrible. If you have another choice don’t use this clinic. And if you don’t have another choice I still wouldn’t use them. Absolutely no help whatsoever.

I would give them zero stars if it was possible. I made an appointment for my son in advance for 3:30 and at 5:30 we were still waiting in the waiting room. We just left and went to another provider. Save your time and money. Dont go here.Update: 3 weeks later. We received a bill for testing, and sample collections that didnt even happen. We are now dealing with fraudulent billing. We will be notifying the proper authorities.

I came into AFC the Grove ,during the AM of July 4th. I was only being seen due to a horrible outbreak of poison ivy. I gave the receptionist my insurance card as well as my drivers license. Everyone was very kind, though it took near 2 1/2 -3 hours to get me in and out (but again they were low staffed due to the holiday so no worries about that) my complaint is that, I paid my $15.00 co-pay with a $20.00 bill and a week or so later I received a BILL in the mail for $15.00!! On the bill it stated that the clinic had drawn blood and some other tests as well that they were charging my insurance company!!!!!! When in REALITY, ALL THAT HAPPENED was, my vitals were taken, and the doctor walked in where I then said I just need a shot and Prednisone please , I have a severe case of Poison Ivy. She was also very kind. A minute later, I get a steroid shot and called in a medal dose pack.SO.... Im very frustrated at why I am receiving this bill, as I stated earlier that I paid my co-pay on site and WHYYY are you all charging my insurance company for things you did NOT perform/test/examine etc on me??? That is FRAUD.I will be coming up there today to speak with someone because I am most definitely NOT paying you another co-pay!My advice to People....really pay attention to what this place is billing you and your insurance for, it happens all the time and it is not right!!!I am hoping this is just a genuine accident on their part.Now once I go up there and they realize where they messed up and are able to fix the problem at hand, I will remove this negative comment.I am never one to make bad reviews, but this is jus flat out wrong!Thank You,Rachel Herring

Great experience and treatment at this location. Wait was a little long but not too bad - lots of sick ‘ens this time of year!The NP I seen was very kind, examined me through, ordered appropriate tests and provided treatment. Yesterday I was not too great - today after my treatments and meds - so much better!!Front staff, back staff were all great. Very considerate and seemed to enjoy what they do! Thanks you guys!

Would have been five stars if it wasn’t for their Corp office stalking me for a survey.Friendly and personable staff. They worked quickly to help everyone get their covid tests. While the wait was long, the staff can’t help how many people show up for testing. Once I got back, the test and results were only 15 minutes.That being said.... once you leave, their Corp office will literally email, call and text you every day (multiple times daily) to complete a survey until you finally relent and complete it.

VERY disappointed about the walk up COVID testing process. Apparently, the results in 15 minutes is the only thing they might be able to guarantee. I wouldnt know, because I sat in my car for over 2 hours waiting to be tested and still remained somewhere on the short list. I went in to take my name off the list and the clerk unfortunately offered no apology or any let me check on that for you. Im sure theyre busy, but a little compassion goes a long way on both sides. I guess Ill just keep trying to find somewhere that is able to offer the testing they advertise and hope for the best.

Very disappointed with the service, didnt see the doctor. Wife sprang ankle and when we entered the building the customer service was terrible. No acknowledgment and the two ladies were more engaged in their conversation than helping my wife. Very blunt. We decided to leave and go across the street to Hoover Urgent Care. Totally different experience. Will not be using American Family Care for any light emergency needs.

I waited for 2 hours for a “rapid” COVID test with no communication or update. I asked for an estimate on wait time and no answer was provided. If you’re going to offer rapid testing staff accordingly so that you can manage the volumes. Will not come back for any other services.

This used to be my go-to, but I’m not so sure anymore. They had one other person in the waiting room and all the exam room doors open (empty) and I’ve been waiting to see a doctor for over an hour total now. I can be patient and wait my turn in line when they’re busy but if they just take forever without others to care for... Don’t waste your time, go somewhere else.More importantly, they have the most rude and insensitive doctor I have ever encountered in my life, including military doctors. The nurses here, however, are extremely sweet and helpful.

Went for a walk in Covid test. After signing in at 9:15 they said I should wait in my car and they would call me. I asked for an estimated wait time and was told they couldnt give me one. After 2 hours I asked a few people waiting and they had been there as long or longer. After 4 hours I tried calling to get an update. No luck, so I went in. I waited another hour after being told 7 people were ahead of me. Finally I was called to come inside. I waited ANOTHER hour in the lobby. While waiting in the lobby multiple people were given estimates of their wait time. I could have run a bunch of errands had they just told me it would be hours, but that was clearly too much effort for the front desk staff. I completely understand that a lot of people need testing, but there has got to be a more efficient way to carry it out. A 6 hour wait for a 30 second nose swab is beyond ridiculous.

On Labor Day, I injured my foot and had an excellent experience at this Urgent Care! We waited 3 hours, but the doctor and staff treated us so well that I didn’t mind spending my holiday in that waiting room one bit.Today, I came in with full-body hives —possibly from the antibiotic that was prescribed to me last week. We had a very short wait, but a very poor experience. The doctor who worked with me made me feel dismissed and discounted. He even rolled his eyes at me when I couldn’t remember the name of the antibiotic I was taking. I got it from this location like 10 days ago, I would think he had some kind of record.I could read the mission statement on the wall “To provide the best healthcare possible in a kind and caring environment...” I didn’t feel cared for or as if I was treated very kindly. I wanted to leave a review to punctuate the importance of bedside manner. It is everything!

Worst medical experience of my life. This place should not be open. They gave me x-rays and the Dr. there me my foot was not broken and they would follow up with radiologist. I could not get anyone on the phone to speak to radiologist even though I called 4 times. Receptionist just kept saying someone would call me. My foot remained swollen and painful for a week, so I went to a different urgent care who confirmed my foot was broken. They do not care about patients here and will not follow up on anything. If you care about your health, go anywhere else.

Nice area. Site is Nice and clean. Typical Doc in the box. We called to ask what the wait time was and they said it was policy that they couldnt give that information out. Awful business practice to make sick people drive over just to see how long the wait. Their hope is that once the patient makes the trek out there, they end up staying instead of looking for another establishment that could see them sooner.

I walked into the Grove clinic with my wife and daughter after they reopened. When we walked in a very nice young lady at the counter greeted us. We were directed to use the tablets to check in. Then suddenly hear a loud voice. I did ask the receptionist who that lady was that was raising her voice. She stated she was the manager. I would never put up with my manager speaking to me in the way she was speaking to her staff. We understand that everyone is stressed out but she should have some self composure since she is the manager. I wonder how she speaks to the patients. We left the facility and followed up with our primary doctor.

The woman behind the desk is quite possibly the most emotionally charged and belligerent person I have ever encountered. I was yelled at in front of a whole waiting room due to a misunderstanding.The situation was escalated by the woman herself and perpetuated by her coworker. This is a crying shame because the NP and MD are both phenomenal as were the phlebotomist and medical assistant. It is unfortunate that their names will have to be associated with those working behind the desk.

Even with an appointment there was over an hour wait, and they were not accepting walk-ins either. The clerk would not call people on the phone who stepped outside or wanted to wait in their cars, when it was their turn if they didnt want to wait in the crowded lobby. The Grove AFC is the worst. You need to be aware of their billing practices before going here. Rather than billing your insurance for a standard office visit, they will bill for a generic urgent care code which will likely leave you paying a much higher bill in the end than your standard copay. What I am referring to is not related to charges as a result of labs or other tests run. This is something they do with their coding so that they can get paid more, and it is not done at any other urgent care I have visited in the area. Its also not something you will likely find out about until weeks after your visit when you get a pretty large bill in the mail. I wont be back.

I was refused service because they have been busy. I was standing at the front desk for 10 minutes before they decided to let me know they could not see me. Only one patient to see with a hour left until closing. I live less than 5 minutes away but will not come back here. I have had many years of bad experiences with this AFC.

Went in for stomach bug, informed that i needed covid test. Family and I had to quarantine for 14 days because I could not get test results, everyone else came back negative. 21 days later I was informed that everyone tested in 2 day span , tests were lost. My primary tested me and confirmed that I had never had covid.

The lady at the front desk was so sweet. My nurse Daniel was amazing. When it came time for my shots he was the best. It didnt hurt a bit. I had another nurse come in to swab me for strep and flu and she was amazing. It normally is super uncomfortable but she was superb. And the doctor I saw really took her time to listen to my symptoms and to talk with me and explain what was going on. The whole experience was amazing.

I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. I dont visit the doctor unless necessary or leave reviews very often, because I like to give the benefit of the doubt most of the time, but the unprofessional conduct of this practice has astounded me and makes me want to warn others before they visit an AFC clinic. In short: proceed with caution - I do not recommend relying on AFC for prompt or patient-centered care. Nearly every aspect of my visit and interactions with AFC have shown a level of incompetence and rudeness I did not know was possible for a medical establishment. The front desk staff were inattentive and condescending toward me - one literally said that I was confusing her when I politely requested a receipt with the medical codes for my visit on it, which I have to report for insurance purposes (she told me she didnt know what a medical code was). I waited alone in the patient room (not the waiting room) for over half an hour without being checked on while staff chatted casually outside, but at this point I still gave the benefit of the doubt. After some tests, I was given a diagnosis that did not match my symptoms and was prescribed antibiotics, which I dont like to take unless absolutely necessary; when I asked for clarification about this discrepancy the staff looked at me like I had three eyes and gave me a nonsensical answer. I did not leave with confidence that I had been given a correct or thoughtful diagnosis. Second opinions from two other physicians concurred that the diagnosis didnt make sense. The only positive interactions I had were with the in-house pharmacist and one of the nurse assistants, who were kind and actually seemed to know what they were doing. After paying a flat, self-pay fee for my visit, I got a subsequent bill in the mail for remaining balance that I didnt understand but was willing to pay. I went to the AFC website to pay my bill, and there was no function that would allow me to pay that bill, so I called the billing office. When I explained to the representative that I was having trouble finding how to pay my bill online, she was extremely rude and said I had a zero balance on my account. When I asked why then I was sent a bill in the mail and why my online account view showed an outstanding balance, which seem like logical questions to ask, she continued to deny that I had a balance and acted put out that I would ask this. I asked her if it was then possible to get an amended receipt that showed only what I had already paid with no outstanding balance since I report these receipts for insurance purposes, and she said she couldnt give me an amended receipt. She circuitously came around to using the phrase flat fee - I put it together, with no help from her, that I had been charged a discounted rate so the remaining balance was a ghost charge, but that still didnt explain why I had been sent a bill in the mail or why my online account said I still owed them. I asked to confirm with her one more time to be 100% clear that I wouldnt be sent another bill or sent to collections if I didnt pay and she said very rudely that she had already said at the beginning of the call I wouldnt. Never at any point did she acknowledge why this might be confusing or explain why I was sent a bill. After I thanked her for her time, she hung up on me without saying anything, even goodbye. The entire call lasted maybe 5 minutes, so its not like I had taken up a bunch of her time (actually I had been hung up on the first time I tried calling before someone even answered). Oh, and the login by text verification function on the website doesnt work. Nothing about this experience has worked - it has only been a source of frustration and unprofessionalism. Ill be burning my bridge with AFC.

Dont come here for treatment!! They lied about billing. My husband had the flu $418 later Dawn at the office is being condensing saying... she cant help. . She hung up on me twice. Called BCBS, the claim has been denied and they wont pay it. AFC told us to go in and designate them as my husbands primary care physician with in 3 days of that visit and it would be covered. We did it less than 24 hours later and claim still has been denied. It should have been done while in the waiting room prior to being seen, apparently. Dont trust these people.**I WILL be in front of this doctors office with a sign stating dont come here for treatment. In the next few days if this doesnt get resolved. Along with my bill $418 taped to it as proof. The bill that you all have said would be fixed and corrected.

Awesome service!!!! I would give 10 stars instead of 5. I came in with my child sick. The facility was nice and clean. Staff super friendly to my daughter. Love the way the Eve (or Eva, sorry terrible memory) and Daniel treated my children, even though they arent pediatricians, they were so good and so fun with my boys! Super grateful for one other staff (cant remember her name to save my life) going to pick up what my son needed to be cared for from another place and then bringing in ice cream to cheer the up afterwards! My husband checked in at 8:36 A.M for a Covid test. 5 1/2 hours later He never received the test. Walk-ins who waited 3 1/2 to 4 hours were called back for testing and he just sat there. He ask the front desk and they told him that he was on the check in list. Pitiful.

Walked into an empty waiting room, and thought, good this should be quick..... 2hrs later, was very wrong. Should have left earlier, but thought, surely just 10 more minutes and theyd be in. Nope. Sat in an exam room, with door shut, with no were sorry, well be with you very shortly. Basically just sit there and stare at a wall until we seem your penance wait worthy to see us.I finally had enough and grabbed my paperwork, flung the door open, and what do I see? The entire staff huddled around a screen laughing. Great job guys. My time is also valuable, and I hope this review makes some changes to your organization. In the realm of social media, you cannot afford to have a group of clowns as employees. Id have had better luck and would have received better treatment at the Freestanding ER across the street.

I would highly recommend this location if you need to go to an urgent care. I was feeling very sick, but I couldnt get in touch with anyone at my primary care doctors office. I decided to come back to this AFC & I barely had to wait. Every single person here was so friendly & helpful. I loved the doctor I saw. Taiyanna was amazing! She told me exactly what she was going to do when she came in the room & also explained the purpose of each test as she did them. She seemed very comfortable & experienced at drawing blood. Thank you!

This place has gone seriously downhill.I went in almost two weeks ago for a persistent cough. The “physician” diagnosed me with walking pneumonia and wrote me a prescription. After his diagnosis, for some reason ($$) he felt the need to do bloodwork only to tell me that my white cell counts were high. Now, I’m no doctor but I’m not sure why he needed a test to tell him my white cells were high- that’s common sense. I took my full ten days of antibiotics— and didn’t get any better. As a matter of fact- I got worse- a lot worse. After my antibiotics were up, I gave it a couple of days to see if it would get better. It didn’t. I went and saw another doctor after that, not with American Family Care. He also diagnosed me with walking pneumonia. I told him I had just finished antibiotics for walking pneumonia. When I told him what antibiotic- his exact words were “let me guess, you went to AFC.” When I asked him how he knew that, he informed me that the antibiotic that I was prescribed isn’t even used to treat walking pneumonia.That being said, I will never return to an AFC, and if you value your life and health, I wouldn’t recommend you visit them either.

My daughter needed a physical/ vaccines for college. They got us in real quick and brought us back. We had to wait for the Doctor but the staff was kind and made sure we were okay. She received great care after receiving the vaccine injections. As she does not do well with needle. Overall a great visit due to the care the nurses provided.

The Hoover, AL location at The Grove shopping complex is wonderful! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable; the waiting area was clean and well-kept; and there was hardly any wait time at all!! Don’t go there if you have Medicaid. They will send you right out of the door.Update: DO NOT USE THEM!!! I went back in 2019 for my child’s toe. I got a bill over a year later. Tried to pay it. I was told there was no balance. I then got several more bills in the mail. I Tried TWO more times to pay the amount and both times I was told once again there was a $0 balance (so a total of 3 times trying to pay this bill). I just now got a letter in the mail saying it’s going to collections and I have a certain amount of time to dispute it. What the actual heck?!

The wait time was very reasonable. The entire staff was nice, friendly, and professional including the front desk, the nurses, and Dr. Gupta. She was very attentive yet assertive. She really seemed concerned about me feeling better. I would definitely go back to see her and I would recommend this facility to others as well.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The doctors and nurse practitioners take time to listen to my problems. After checking my health history they do only the necessary testing. I always feel better a few days after my visit.

We were there a couple months ago. Everything was great... except for the brunette girl at the front desk. She was very rude. She is why we have since decided to use another medical facility, despite the great care we received from the doctor. After reading several other posts, it sounds like it may be a good idea to get some customer service training for her. A welcoming attitude goes a long way.

Excellent, professional, and friendly staff. I will be back! I couldn’t even tell my nurse was in training. She was excellent. The doctor was also very attentive. He listened well and seemed genuinely interested in my over all health unrelated to my visit. I could not be more pleased with the service I received.

While the wait to see the Dr was nearly an hour, it was WELL worth it! Dr. Morgan is fantastic! Not only is she extremely thorough, but she was so patient, and took the time to answer every question I had. You don’t find bedside manner like hers anymore. And the staff is very professional.I will definitely be back when I need urgent care again, even if I have to go out of my way to get there! Overall one of the best experiences I’ve had in a Dr office!

I had a wonder experience here at the clinic. I was greeted by the receptionist professionally. My technician was awesome, my nurse was awesome and gave a great shot. There was no wait time. The physician, Dr. Jeremy Allen, was professional, courteous and very prompt. Most importantly, he had great bedside manners. My wait time was very minimum and I was in and out and no time. Thank you to the staff at AFC, Grove shopping center.

I came in with my wife after hearing great reviews from her. The receptionist was not friendly but the manager was standing right behind her and was very nice and helpful. She even inquired about my mothers health after remembering my wife who had brought her in. We were called to back very quickly. Dr. Abele was very through and explained everything really well. our family will only visit this location from now on. Thank you all for being so nice and kind.

I had a very painful shoulder injury from flipping over handlebars, and the only doctor on duty (who I never saw) refused to prescribe any pain relief. The NP told me to take OTC Tylenol which I had already done to no effect. Even though I actually felt worse leaving than I did upon arrival (because of the manipulations during x-ray), they were still very happy to take my money. I will never return to this place. Im giving two stars instead of one due to a concerned receptionist and tech that did show some compassion. UPDATE: I am now getting the care I needed from another provider so I cant think of anything you can do to make this situation better other than giving me a refund. If you really want to resolve this matter you should have all my contact information in your files.

I received GREAT CARE!!!!! went in really really sick. The staff went above and beyond to take great care of me. The nurses were compassionate and came to the parking lot to help me out of my car. They took me back right away and put me in a bed. The Doctor was called and she started her work up. I received labs and IV all with in 10 mins. The staff then went and moved my car which I had left in the middle of the parking lot. Sam was great in explaining everything to my wife when she arrived to the clinic in a panic. They got me comfortable and feeling better with shots. My prescriptions were sent to the Hoover AFC pharmacy and Sam called the pharmacy tech David to make sure they were ready when we arrive. This is the best experience I have ever had at any medical facility. The Staff cares for you like family and goes above the call of duty to make sure I was comfortable while I rest. Thank You Dr. Morgan,Sam,Wendy,Vidi and Marie for saving me and pampering me.

Today is Sunday and my sinuses and ears decided to NOT be my friend. I googled and found this AFC and happily all the reviews were right. Dr. Morgan and the entire staff were so nice! I appreciate Dr. Morgan confirming that I didnt have bugs in my ears even though that is what it felt like and also confirming sinus infection. They were kind and fun and Takis forever!!! Thank you!

Fabulous patient/customer service. My daughter fainted in the office and the staff jumped in immediately. I was so impressed, they were very professional, attentive and went above and beyond to accommodate her. Shout our to Consuela Jones and Sam. Such a wonderful staff, they had a cold rag on her head and was making her comfortable before I knew it. They went so far as to even give her crackers from their own lunch box and a bottle of water. To top it off they even called our house later in the afternoon to see how she was feeling. Wow, when was the last time that happened??? Best, Best, Best care ever. If there were more stars than 5 stars on the review scale they would sure receive them!! Thank you so much for all you do.

My experience with the American Family Care 5569 # 121 was extremely pleasant . It was customer service at it best . The patient care assistant Ruby - explained process and procedures clearly and concisely. Nurse practitioner Githy did exactly the same.It was pleasant experience from start to finish.Everyone was knowledgeable professional and organized. Had a very good experience at this facility. There was a wait but the triage nurse, nurse practitioner, lab tech & x-ray tech were all friendly, caring & efficient. Labs & X-ray results were quick. Treatment recommended was explained thoroughly. Recommend this place.

The doctor could give a bit more details when I went to the location the 2nd time for a lab consultation. However very happy and I will definitely recommend this office.

Took my husband to get a simple flu test, Sunday morning 11am. I was told by the receptionist they would be glad to test him but there was a 2 hour wait. They we’re running a 2 hour wait time all morning. When I looked around at the EMPTY waiting room, I was advise that all the patients were in the back.So needless to say we left, not wanting to sit sick and lonely in an empty waiting room for 2 hours! We went across the street to the freestanding ER, that had a FULL waiting room...register, called back, seen by doctor and got the test within in 15 minutes.I have been to this AFC before and alway had to wait but today was the last time. If you don’t want to see patients turn off the light and go home! Ridiculous!

The nursing staff were incredibly nice although it was late in the day and Dr. Donald was also very nice and patient. He made it feel personal, as if he hadn’t seen several other patients all day. Facility was clean. Wait time was average, about an hour. I received great care.

A few days ago I went to this Clinic. It was the second time I have used them, and with both visits I have had excellent care. The facility is very clean and the staff is very caring and attentive. My wait time was just minutes in the reception area and in the exam room. I want to thank everyone there for their concern and help with my illness and will definitely go again if needed.

This is by far the WORST family care ever. i sat for 4 hours waiting in a room for them to tell me i do not have strep and my throat is on fire. hardly got tested for anything else and continued to wait on someone to give me a shot for over an hour. this is THE WORST they have no idea what they are doing. Yes- everyone there is GREAT! Of special note: Daniel Harrin who after checking my vitals & getting me admitted, asked if itd be OK if he prayed for me! I said of course! As a fellow Christian I was very appreciative for his prayers, and in todays secular society, it gave me great hope that there are still some good and caring people in this world! Everyone else was great too, especially Dr Joneice Morgan, who Ive seen before. She is always so attentive and friendly and knowledgeable. Ill definitely come back!

The people and doctors are very friendly and nice, BUT they are very very slow even when there’s not that many patients. I would not recommend on that alone!! No one washed their hands entering or leaving the room.
