My family enjoyed going to the library. Its very large and spacious inside. The kids section has a great selection of books from first chapter books, board books, picture books and so on. There are toys and games to play with. You can checkout games and movies. They have a decent size large print section and audio books. The restrooms were clean and have changing stations. I got myself a new library card which was easy and fairly painless to get one. They have events and activities throughout the year so keep an eye on their website. Definitely go check it out, take your time and there are loads of things to read and look at.

Sadly, this was our first trip to the library, but it is amazing and huge! We come from a small town, so the library we are used to is probably about half the size of this one. And their selection is amazing! I was also surprised to find they have a Cafe as well!

Theyre getting back to normal events following the covid restrictions. Everyone is happy to be back at it and we are enjoying the experience with them.

Fantastic library and a full complement of skilled and personable staff. The kids love coming to the library and the adults too. The collections are impressive and cater to a variety of needs.

One of the best public libraries I’ve ever been to. First, I feel safe around this library and no suspicious activity or people near the establishment. They have a police officer guard the entrance which I appreciate. We spent 2 afternoons finishing my assignments here and it’s really quiet and the wifi was good 👍. I had a good quality study time here. And I would like to recommend this library to anyone near the area and wanted a place to study. It’s open to anyone! And it’s free.

What a great library! The staff is so helpful. I came with a bunch of questions, trying to find books for a family member. Steve and multiple employees looked things up, offered great suggestions, and were just overall enthusiastic about helping!

This is an extraordinary library that I have in my life. It has so so so many books for adults and kids. There are CDs, movies, music, and kids rhymes, etc. We only need a library card and can take lots of books, puzzles, etc.

This is our favorite Jefferson county library! The employees are so friendly and helpful, and we have loved the kids events they put on every year.

A peaceful, clean facility that includes everything I was looking for. Covid 19 precautions in place and plenty of hand sanitizing stations. I enjoy how quiet and mindful this library is, it made it very easy for me to get my work done!

Best place in the world to be. So much to do on any given day and so many books to read. Plus they have board games, video games, and movies to check out as well. And its all free!

They have the best activities and events for kids. My son always loved going here so did I. The staff are so friendly. Kudos for all the staff that make the kids programs happen. Im very thankful for the Hoover Library; I live in the Birmingham area where the library staff is in the buildings but arent open to the public. Somebody tell me, Birmingham holds the top spot for the downtown library being a main attraction but their not open so what exactly is Birmingham Libraries purpose; to pay people to do nothing who really does nothing when theyre open..... Great place to bring your kids with tons of books, both board games and console games, comics, music and etc. You wont be disappointed great large humongous variety of all subjects for any age !!!And also dont forget the study rooms and internet access with printers .

Warning if you do not like checking out books or movie or CDs, a café, boardgame nights (once a month), nice and friendly people, peaceful atmosphere, or a quiet place to study and several other things I didnt list... Stay away! There maybe a construction site for you to go stare at elsewhere.

I have always been going to the Vestavia Hills Library since I live closer to that one. Yet, I went to the Hoover Library for the first time in a long time, and I absolutely love it. The quiet study area is the perfect place for me to get things done. Also, they have a cafe in there. the can grab some food or drinks during a long study day without needing to leave the library. Everything about this library is great.

Its a really nice place. A lot of books and lights. The atmosphere. Various education. Cafeteria. Additional audio. Video tools other than books. Its all fantastic.

Very comfortable library for all the ages people. It has everything you want to study from morning to evening without getting tired. I have been to few states library but this is awesome. Really appreciate the service they have been providing to the community. Must visit once and see if it blows yr mind or not.

AMAZING childrens programs during the school year and in the summer. This library is one of the the things I dearly miss after moving away from the Birmingham area. We went there weekly for about 6 years. Their enclosed small childrens area is super helpful for peace of mind and I have yet to find that anywhere else. My kids also loved the outdoor play area. Every library should have their childrens department come train here!

Visited recently, was amazed at how lovely this library and its staff are. A better than expected selection of books and other materials as well. As others have said, it is quite large. Wish I had become a member sooner.

The Hoover library is best thing the city of Hoover has to offer. Friendly and helpful staff and excellent programs offered to the community. I truly think the Hoover Library is one of the best libraries in the country.

They have an amazing number of different resources. The public library system in the Birmingham metro area is wonderful and demonstrates what public service could look like if the various municipalities work together. There are a lot of books, DVDs, graphic novels, AND they also have board games. There are several nooks that are good to read or do work in.

I especially love the DVD rentals and recently discovered the online classes that are being offered. I signed up for a refresher in Microsoft Excel and a couple other self help classes. The cafe is comfortable and very home away from home-ish. Love the location and always dealt with great staff and customer service.

There are about 3 libraries in my neighborhood but I drive past them just to come here. It is quiet, neat, well laid out. Just love it

I needed a place to study so I figured I goto a library, what a mistake. I couldnt tell if it was a library or a social place.People are walking around talking on the phone, employee on the phone with foot upon the table, kids talking loudly. Library looked really nice from outside and inside but doesnt have many books. Doesnt seem to know how to prioritize, spending all the money on the building and not on the books.What a joke, I was very disappointed by the experience.

Truly a magnificent library, all Hoover residents should be proud. Ive been to many libraries before, but none compare to the kindness of the staff, the resources they have, and the events that take place here. Often time my friends complain that other libraries have rude staff, or primary technology, such as a computer with Windows XP. Not Hoover, they are the undisputed go to when a library trip is needed.

Just tried to rent a room at the Hoover library and got declined because my event was not open to the publicThe climate we live in today ,that is not safe to just let anybody walk in and you don’t know who they are. I stated to them that I had a similar problem at the Homewood Library with a disruptive stranger who walked into my event. they need to change this policy .

Awesome! Great musical events at the Plaza and in the Theater, lots of educational classes and events throughout the library. Cheap 2nd hand book store, easy digital content access,and the nicest staff and volunteers.

I have since moved from Hoover, over more than a year ago. This library is what I miss most. I still go occasionally, even though I live a bit farther away. Nothing compares to this library. The employees are wonderful. They are helpful. They are never rude to children. They are well educated and a lot of them are artists or performers, who help design whimsical displays around the library or put on shows for the kids.This library is a living library. It is vibrant and joyous with learning. There are quiet locations to study in the back, but towards the front, it is an interactive learning area for children, teens and adults. They have free programs for kids constantly. Every book I have ever asked for has been there. Apart from normal books, they have manga, comics, board games, and a pretty awesome sci fi/fantasy section by itself.This library is the greatest resource that the city of Hoover has to offer.I love all the people there. I feel good and at home at the Hoover Public Library. I want to say thank you to all the people who work so hard to make this library extraordinary.With that, I conclude my love letter to HPL.

We live in Shelby County and travel to the Hoover Library at least once a week. Since we dont live in JeffCo, we do have to pay an annual fee to check out items/use the computers but it is worth it! Weve lived in Shelby County for 8 years and have never been to the local library- we choose Hoover!!
