My mother in law has been a resident at Country Cottages for over 7 months. She loves it there. The staff is very attentive to her needs and treats her like family. The food is great, she has gained weight living there. I really appreciate the management too. They are always available to resolve any issues if we had any. I highly recommend this facility.

Well I worked at the country cottage of hoover, I must say it not a good places to work .Please keep in mind I only work there for 3 months , it was not the best ,resident are not care for the correct way .No activities for them ,neglected on there care some resident don’t have proper clothing, laundry and housekeeping that doesn’t gets done.residents don’t have diapers, tooth paste, tooth bush, and it so much more they don’t have... sorry to tell you, if you have love one here move them out they are not getting the best care. Plus on top of it all they have a bad ant and roach infestation.I do have proof of this , I hope you look into this matter because I wouldn’t put a dog in these kind of care.I hope you love your family move them out there’s better places out there for them .

My mother has been a resident for 2 months and the facility and staff have been very professional and caring in dealing with her. Great facility and we looked at several before making the decision. Very family oriented with 3 good meals daily and excellent staff.

My familys recent experience with Country Cottages assisted living in Hoover, AL has been a nightmare. This was my first experience with caring for a loved one and I thought that we had found the perfect place for my father. I was wrong. Weve had many problems. To begin with, our contract signing very was rushed, and was completed by an employee who I never saw again after that day. There were many things that were explained incorrectly or not at all. When we were recruited, there were lots of promises made. Haircuts, doctors visits, and trips to the store for supplies are just a few of the services that we were told that my father would receive that never or very rarely happened. I would usually receive a very demanding phone call any time Dad needed anything. I was happy to do those things, but am still very confused about what we were told. Also not explained to me was the fact that Country Cottages reserves the right to raise their rates, as much as they would like, at any time, without notice. A few months ago my fathers rates were raised by over $300.00 a month, less than 2 weeks before the payment was due.Certain members of the care staff and management began to lie to us and greatly exaggerate details about his health in order to raise their rates (ridiculous, over the top exaggerations). Eventually the director used this false information to force him to move out against his wishes. This situation has caused my family much hardship. I strongly recommend that you save your time, money, and sanity and avoid this place at all costs.

My loved one has been in Holly Cottage memory care for almost a year. My family has been very happy with the quality of care and my loved one has thoroughly enjoyed being there as well. The nursing staff is wonderful and they are very caring. The food is also good, smells great and the presentation is nice as well. There are activities, monthly birthday parties and special occasions events as well. Having full access to outdoor space has been great too. There are big rocking chairs on the porch, with ceiling fans and a large table/umbrella outside with a small planter garden and bird feeders make it an inviting but safe space so residents arent cooped up inside all the time.We have had zero issues with the accounting staff either. There is a flat fee you can choose to pay so no payment steps are involved at all. I mean if your loved one needs memory care, their condition is sadly not going to get better. Hopefully the decline will be slow but we have seen some residents get worse quickly depending on their individual condition. Other residents have lived there happily for years. We hope and pray this is the situation with our family member. Also please be aware this is assisted living - not a hotel with full maid service. The house keepers will assist your loved one with whatever their needs are as stated in their individual plan of care. Do your research before placing your loved one anywhere and ask a lot of questions. It is your responsibility to make sure you communicate frequently with both the staff and your loved one too as their needs will change. We hope to be at the Cottages a very long time.

Country cottage is horrible. The staff does what they want and are very rude when you learn there skims. My Pawpaw was there for about 8 months and all they did was complain about him to up his care level to squeeze more money out of us. Brenda was very rude along with the Fiona. They had such horrible attitudes and I could tell they wanted to do the minimum if there job requirements. They seemed to think they were entitled. Very unfortunate situation.

Visited here for an open house. I was able to learn about their snoezelen room and how that type of therapy can be beneficial to people who have memory loss. Very interesting concept. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful.

Awful! Would score zero if possible on scale. Activities calendar is make believe. No exercise program. They keep residents longer than they should stay there. Food is awful. State needs to do a surprise inspection. Do not go here.

Disappointing. Count on doing a lot of the care yourself. Bathing, hygiene, ect. Lazy staff.

We moved my father-in-law into this facility in Dec. 2014 because we thought it seemed more cozy and less formal than the other places we checked out. It has truly been a diasaster from the beginning.First of all they promised several services that never happened. While we were being recruited we were told they would make sure he got haircuts, doctor visits, and trips to the store to buy toiletries and other necessities. None of that happened. Instead, we would get frantic calls constantly telling us we had to leave work immediately and bring him things because he needed it emergency style. They offer phone service, which we signed up for. It took over a month to get phone service working. After he was there for only 3 months they reassessed his care level. Even though his doctor reported no changes to his health they moved him from care step 0 to care step 4. They raised our monthly rate by $300 with only a week and a half notice. When we expressed surprise at this decision we were spoken to very rudely by the director. 2 weeks later, after just being assessed as a level 4, we were told that they did another assessment and he was now off the charts and must get out. We were given a 30 day notice. His health today is no different than the day he moved in. There was no rapid decline that you would expect from the jump in care levels over a 5 month period. In addition, the staff repeatedly lied to us about his needs. It was hard to tell what he really needed and how his health actually was because of the constant exaggerations. He is now at Elmcroft in Grayson Valley and has a nicer room in a nicer facility with a much more professional staff and we couldnt be happier to have him moved.
