Suburban Access provided services to my 68 year old developmentally for many years until I transferred him to a facility up north. Suburban Access and the State of Illinois had taken care of him from the time my parents placed him into the system back in the 70s. Reconnected with him in 2008 and found that he was heavily drugged with haldol and depakote, constipated and also had a stroke. Transferred facilities around 2013. His ISSA representative is now out of Community Alternative Services. So many people had misinformed me that Community Alternatives Unlimited would provide much better services than Suburban Access. Perhaps that was just a ploy to get rid of me. But nothing could be farther from the truth. Comparing the two websites of both organizations will provide the first clue.

They seem nice

Seemed to be more interested in Palos opportunities than HOMEWOOD.

Talked to a woman that was suppose to help my friend get off the street and have not heard nothing back. Dont seem they care aboutpeople living on the streets. Sad.

Great organization but horrible management. Director of Adult Service (at the time - D.S) was (and i’m sure still is) unprofessional, rude, condescending and overall, just a crappy person. Be a boss but learn to treat people with respect. I would love to run into you one day and just ask, why you are the way you are....MISERABLE. Your personality matches your appearance.It’s definitely what you are known for in other agencies throughout the Chicagoland area :)
