Dr. Philpot and his nurse are rude and uncaring. One time you see him he’s nice and seems to care. Next he is rude and uncaring. The Nurse is rude everytime. They do not do their do diligence in making sure information is correct. Likewise, results are not put in timely and you only get them if you call over and over, calls are not returned, etc. my husband and I both use him and have both had the same issues. Our friend uses them, he took several tests and had to go to another Dr. to be diagnosed with a hernia that Dr. Philpot should have caught.

Contrary to other posts about rudeness, Dr. Philpott has been nothing but professional and polite with me on every visit over the last 16-17 years (five procedures). I dont know what others may experienced that would make them believe he or his staff are rude. That is certainly not my experience.

I had the worst experience with Dr. Philpot when I was at St. Vincents hospital in August, 2018. I was in the hospital for total hip replacement surgery on a Monday. On Tuesday, the hospital sent a full meal instead of soft foods. The reason you should habe only soft foods at first is because of the tube down the throat during surgery can cause swelling. A piece of dry turkey got stuck/lodged in my stomach at bottom of esophagus. After several painful gastro tests, it was determined that I needed an endosopy and was scheduled for Thursday morning. I was unable to hold any soft food or liquid in my stomach. On Thursday morning, I was taken to the lab area, put behind a curtain in a trafficked area of the lab and was told Dr. Philpot was going to do the procedure without any anesthetic. I was already in so much pain from the hip surgery and told Dr. Philpot that I could not tolerate any more pain. I wanted to be put to sleep for that procedure. He was so mad that I refused the procedure without some type of anesthesia, that he left me laying on that table in the hallway all day crying in pain and left my family members in the waiting room without any word. Everytime they would ask what happened to me, the staff would say they didnt know. I have never been treated with such meaness and no sympathy or compassion. Finally at the end of the day, he gave in and conducted the Endoscopy procedure, giving me a local anesthesia, found the obstruction in my stomach/small bowel and removed it. I am warning other people not to have anything done by this man. He is with Birmingham Gastroenterology. I cant believe they keep Dr. Philpot on staff.
