Dr Palermo is great, he is patient and very thorough. Dr Palermo is very methodical in his diagnoses. I have been going to him since approximately 2012. He also listens to my concerns. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Palermo. My mom and my girlfriend also go to Dr Palermo now and they are both satisfied too. Please be patient with your doctors they are super busy and are juggling alot of task. Nick Soprano

It’s true he rounds on his patients at 4AM. Who does that unless you’re don’t actually want to talk to or engage with anyone?I just listened to him lie about the results of a CT scan (“Didn’t show anything.”) that clearly shows advanced vascular dementia.The patient experienced hallucinations yesterday, and his solution was to stop pain medication that is only being given every six hours, and the pain is still not managed.This is not compassionate care; it’s not “care” at all.

When I came to Dr. Palermo, it was only due to an emergency situation. I was in extreme pain, he spent 20 minutes with me, and determined I could have Diverticulitis or an Appendicitis. He sent me to the hospital and ordered tests, “Stat”.I did have diverticulitis and had to be put on heavy duty antibiotics.For this visit, he charged me as a new patient consultation $395.00. In my experience, those kind of appointments are usually lasting 45-60 minutes. He is not my regular GP.Then, when I had to get a colonoscopy 6 weeks later, the GI doctor who’s also in the DuPage Medical Group, perforated my colon.I ended up in the emergency room and had to be hospitalized. They took my information and when asked who my GP is, I told them another doctor from a different group.During my stay in the hospital, Dr. Palermo came to see me, not by my request and came at 4am each day(Sat-Mon). He didn’t do anything and didn’t check me, since I was half asleep.He charged $495.00 each visit. The nursing staff at the hospital even commented on the fact how funny it is he comes so early in the morning to do his rounds.I’m disgusted by the fact, this doctor can get away with this kind of operation. His fees are outlandishly high, and you sure don’t get your monies worth, especially if you’re most likely sleeping.Also, I did try to reach out to his office staff, since I felt the initial visit was not a consultation, he didn’t spend more than 20 minutes with me, and I asked them to change the diagnosis code accordingly.They sent me the same bill, and expect full payment on my part.I feel very much taken advantage of by Dr. Palermo from the beginning, as well as even more taken advantage of during the time I UNEXPECTEDLY had to be admitted to the hospital. He charged each time he came $495.00.I would never recommend Dr. Palermo and feel very distraught at the fact he clearly knows that visiting anyone in such a condition as I was, and others, and charging a ridiculous amount because that visiting time works best for him, is inconceivable and is morally/ethically wrong, period.I wouldn’t want anyone else to have to go through this, pay out of pocket what his fees are for stopping by a sleeping person and taking a peek at them.Moving forward, this experience did make me aware for the future if I ever have to see a random doctor for an emergency, asking upfront how much time will they spend and what kind of diagnostic code/ charge I’ll be incurring.

Dr. Palermo is very nice and listens to your concerns. He works with you to try to reach the best health options.
