Today I went to this location at 5am to do cardio, there were barely 5 people at the gym and they were at least 20 feet away from me,Now I understand the mandatory of wearing a mask when there are people around but why we need to wear it when there is nobody around? The girl at the front desk asked me to pull my mask up which i would have been ok if she would have ask everyone not just me because i was at the front row. I felt discriminated because the other 4 people did not have the mask on. Also according to CDC if doing high intensity activity, if there are no people around you can take off ur mask, and fyi moist and sweaty masks are not effective...

I have liked this gym overall and the fact they have good equipment/swimming pool to workout in...although the staff can be nice, I still had an issue here to the point where I don’t know about coming back. That issue being they try to bribe you about paying the day of for a workout program and make you feel bad if you don’t. I was told “Good luck” in a sassy way when I decided not to sign up for a program right away even with a discount. To LA Fitness: I am not sorry when times are still hard right now, but be more friendly. To the public: beware of what you sign up for

This is a great place for work out and relax at the same time. Everything you need is right there. I love the place 😍.

It goes by quickly. It is a full body workout and the coaches are motivating, helpful and nice. Also if you miss a class you have to pay which is sometimes the only thing that makes me go in the early morning.

Great gym, if you need a membership in the area this is really the only option if you want good equipment and dont want to sell a kidney for lifetime. But still hate the salesman trying to really strongarm you into joining. I hate nothing more than a sales pitch and be prepared to waste a solid 2-4 hours if you dont just want to sign up that minute

It’s cheap and not usually crowded when I go, but the management is cutting corners. Gym equipment isn’t cleaned well and machines often go long periods without getting fixed. Bare bones maintenance.

Worst customer service I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. I had to cancel my membership three separate times and finally had to threaten to do whatever necessary to get my money back to get them to cancel it. That was last fall, and they charged me yet again this week! Awful conduct by a reputable business.

If I can give zero stars I would for this gym. Feels like you going to a bank applying for loans, so much things to do in order for you just to workout. it’s much worse when trying to cancel your membership. Other gyms are far better and cheaper . Just avoid this gym when your deciding on what gym you should try.

Extremely poor equipment maintenance. Exercise machines stand with signs scheduled for service for months. Cleaning people generally doing a good job. The rest of the personnel do not care about anything at all. All they care about is their commission for signing you up.

I like that there is a lot of equipment and the facility is rather clean. Front desk staff are friendly.However you get what you pay for. Many of the regulars are arrogant and have no regard for public safety. Many masks aren’t worn and upper management does a terrible job of enforcing the county’s public safety policy.In other words, don’t join without a vaccination.

Come here after covid.Sizable LA fit with great layout and good equipment. No attempt at mask enforcing. All covid cleaning is dependant on guests who show little care. Without the virus this could be an exemplary LA fit. As is, only come if you have antibodies or the vaccine.

Great experience! Every time! Ive been going for a little over a month now. Every class is a hell of a workout and the things you learn are practical and work.

My favorite gym. Its one of the best LA Fitness clubs around, and Ive been to many of them, including the signature clubs that cost extra. The equipment is up to date, staff is friendly and their towel service for $5 extra a month is totally worth it (especially if you workout every day like i do).

Everything I need in a gym which has new equipment, and good space with high ceilings which makes for good air circulation. I cant find anything to complain about whatsoever. I get great workouts in with several elliptical options such as a stair climber, and a few other elliptical choices. They have many heavy plates lifting machines and regular. Each muscle group usually has a couple of machines for lifting. Also equipped with two floor areas with kettle bells, medicine balls, jumping platforms, heavy ropes, light weights and more. The gym also has a couple cable pulley stations and machines. If you actually enjoy working out I see no reason to give this gym anything but a high mark.

Gym not so crowded. Do not need to wait your turn to use the equipments. Great classes as well. I strongly recommend attending the Zumba class from Christino!

The gym was fine, not the best Ive been to but it was okay. I was a bit concerned when your customer service member followed me to my car after I intentionally left my headphones in while leaving since I dont like to talk to anyone while I work out. I get to my car and go to shut the door and he is standing there. At.my.car. Apparently to inquire how I enjoyed the gym. If I wanted to give you a review, I wouldve said something as I was leaving. I feel this was completely inappropriate no matter what the intent and I am so uncomfortable with how my experience ended. There is absolutely no reason a staff member should follow a customer out of the building unless to give pertinent information or left something of value. I was appalled.

I called on 02/22/2019 to cancel my membership. On 02/21/2019, Edgar and the manager told me that if my project in Deerfield, IL didn’t work out, I could call in and cancel my membership. I told them that signing up would be an issue because I would not be able to come in on Friday, this is the day I found out whether or not I would be flying to Chicago every other week, I found out on Friday that I didn’t have to fly back. As soon as I found out, I called and cancelled. Edgar and some other guy that worked there told me two different times because I called two different times that it would be all taken care of. On Satuday, I spoke to a women at the front desk at the same location and asked her if she can tell me whether or not my account was cancelled. She told me it was not cancelled and that it was still active with no notes about be calling in on Friday to cancel. She then proceeded with telling me that I had 5 business days to cancel and according to the contract it says 3 in order for me to get a FULL refund.The times I contacted the LA Fitness are as follows:02/22/20192:09 PM CST – Edgar said he would take care of it and cancel my account.2:46 PM CST – Whoever picked up the phone at that time said he has my info and will send me a cancellation notice that the previous guys didn’t sent.02/23/20193:01PM PST – Young lady at the front desk confirmed membership is still active and no notes of me calling in to cancel it02/25/20199:15 AM PST – Spoke with the Operation Manager Mark and he said he would take care of it and because it was 3 days, not 3 business days as stated in the contract he would have to push this issue to his manager to resolve, but will cancel it and send me a cancellation emailIt is 12:40 PM PST – I have yet received an email stating that I called and cancelled the membership.Just to play it safe I am also sending this cancellation letter to let you know that I am cancelling this membership. Please refund the amount charged to my credit card.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS GYM! Would give a zero star review if possible. Instead of getting a work out, prepared to fight off people trying to sell you ridiculously priced packages for personal trainers. My brother and I would go when he was training for Navy boot camp and would be harassed by personal trainers at least 3-4x a week. My brother explained that he couldnt afford training and the trainer than had the nerve to tell me that I should be a good big sister and pay the $300 a month for a measly 1 hour/month training session. Biggest rip off ever and the trainers here suck. I have friends that are PTs and do an amazing job and charge 1/2 the price for double the quality and quantity. Also like to add that when their stair masters malfunction they dont put up signs for days and are asking for a lawsuit. I had a stair master go completely bonkers where I had to jump all the way down. I told the staff and even the next day the machine had no sign cautioning gym-goers. Do not go!!

Summer subscribers: Make sure you cancel your account a month in advance or they charge you a $50 “annual fee” out of no where. Disputed it 3 times and couldn’t get it removed, even though I wasn’t warned about it. It’s essentially a scam. Read what you are signing.

The machines are always dirty. Ive told the manager many times but the staff wont clean the sweat and muck from the machines daily or a few times per day. Its a gross and smelly experience at times.

This is a totally fine gym. I dont know what all the complaints are about. Its not a country club. Its a gym. The facilities are all completely fine and well-maintained. Its not posh and ritzy and there are no bells and whistles but Ive never seen anything outrageous at this LA Fitness. Been going here 4 years.

I just came from out of town with a friend to go to the gym and the people were really chill. They let me in with a guest pass even though I am not a regular. Nice people.

Would give 0 Stars if possible. I have never seen such a poorly run gym. I have belonged to several gyms in the past and have never had this bad of an experience. I they are over priced on their training sessions and they will for no reason let you out of your contract.they also charge accounts that you have not given them permission to charge. and when you try to resolve your issue they just listen to what you have to say and give no help.the service and the management have not clue what they are doing. and they really need to get in touch of some service skill before they will get anywhere. I wish i checked google reviews before I joined....

It’s to dirty . The cleaning guy is doing his job well , but over equipment nobody looks. It’s need more fresh air, because first thing you notice inside is the smell . Also cardio equipment is to old. The lockers are old . I would want to see electric locks. Every thing is loosing and makes a weird noise while working out .UPDATE:So about 1 week after visiting this place I discovered some marks on my back. I didn’t know what that was and I went to a doctor . She told me that it’s simple ringworms. She started to explain where people get them, and I momentarily understood where I got them. I take a shower twice a day, I change my T-shirts twice a day. I’m so neat. However this pace is so dirty that all my preventive methods didn’t work . I cleaned up equipments every time before and after use with that towels and spray . They don’t care about cleanness . HOWEVER a guy who cleans up locker room does his job in there good.

They advertise 19.95 per months, and it mention the word final Day. So every day is final day.then you go there, and ask about the 19.95 per month dead. Thats when you here that, you better read the fine print which says after you pay a premium of $254.False advertising and having a sign that every day says the final day make me me wonder why deception should ever be part of doing business?I would strongly suggest that if you can help it, please avoid this establishment.

Its fine. Its got what i need to work out regularly and still affordable. Gyms with free towels arent free, youre paying 3-4x as much each month. Ive belonged to some of those and theyre more crowded. The population is skewed older, or Im there when my cronies are there.

BEWARE! THEY LOCK THE DOORS AT 930 PM AND REFUSE TO LET MEMBERS ENTER....EVEN THOUGH THE CLUB IS OPEN AND YOU CAN SEE PEOPLE INSIDE WORKING OUT. The posted hours are until 10:00 p.m. and it looked like an SNL skit out in front with numerous members banging on the doors and standing there rolling their eyes trying To get inside to do 15 minutes of elliptical at 9:35 p.m. on a Friday night. Just think of what an inconvenience it is for and LA Fitness member to get ready and dressed and in their car and drive all the way to LA Fitness thinking they have a 1/2 an hour left to do a quick set and then to look inside the windows and see people inside working out and using the pool and then have the doors locked and the to employees at the front desk staring and laughing while people bang-on the doors in disbelief. This is why lifetime fitness and planet fitness is killing LA Fitness absolutely horrible that they would let one of their locations do this Im sure theyre getting tons of complaints what a joke

I have been to several LA Fitness locations, but as far as filth is concerned, this one takes the cake. So what that there always is someone cleaning the mirrors in the weight section, if the floor and the weights are so dirty, they are actually sticky! No one bothers to wipe benches after they have used them and left their sweat all over (so gross!), and the stretching area has sweat “angels” on regular basis no matter the time of day. My knees were dirty black after kneeling on one of those during stretching. The worst part is that this gym is not even that busy - no excuse to not keep it clean.

Not the cleanest gym Ive been to, not very easy to use system of wiping things down. Towels are not included which is a real buzzkill as well. Lots of machine options though, basketball court is nice.

I found the gym dirty and the equipment was old. The pool water was always cloudy. I was tired of catching hair in my hands while swimming. Showers I learned to wear flip flops.Staff smile! Us customer dont bite!Its true you do have to cancel during the day. I return the next day and it was cancelled. I will know in a week if the membership is charged for the next month.

This is one of the worst companies in the area in terms of organization and management. For the first three weeks of us joining LA Fitness in Highland Park I was constantly harassed by one of the male trainers and had to talk to management several times in order to solve the problem, as they did not respond after me bringing it to their attention the first time. It was also brought to a member of management’s attention that much of the gym’s equipment was broken, to which they replied “it’s okay all the gyms have broken equipment”.My boyfriend and I were also scammed into entering a membership that the employee selling it to us lied about and did not provide proper details of what the membership entailed, so we had issues upon trying to cancel it.Once we were finally able to cancel our membership, we were still charged the next month and had to go in and speak with the manager in order to get a refund- upon assurance that this would not happen again.A month later, we were charged a second time after we had moved out of the country.As standalone occurrences, these incidents are bad enough. But after going through six months of them, we can confidently say that this gym is terribly organized and would advise anyone looking to join, to look elsewhere.

Not the cleanest L A Fitness which issurprising being on the North Shore. I thought people wouldve made their complaints clear. The club hours are not posted anywhere and the website differ from what Google posts. I was actually still swimming in the pool made no announcement half hour to closing like every other L A Fitness I visit. I guess I get what I pay for half at the bargain club

I had the same experience as everyone posting here. They give you a hard time when cancelling. The trainers have no clue what they are doing and instead harass people when they try to work out together. One came to me claiming that I am training a girl that was with me. I explained that it was my wife and we are working out together but that was not enough. I got threats of being thrown out. The other thing is that the place smells and it is disgustingly dirty.

I had a week guest pass to work out and see the facilities. Management obviously wanted me to sign up by offering a bunch of incentives, even though I felt I needed more time to see the gym (this was on the first day). They took my physical pass and told me Id be emailed an electronic one. Checked my email for a week and found nothing. Bottom line, those guest passes are a scam. Will never be signing up with LA Fitness, especially this location.

Beware LA Fitness. They require that you waive their responsibility for injuring you through their negligence. When signing up, you are asked to sign their membership form. It is on a computer and you will not see it unless you ask. If you read it, only then will you know that you have waived your rights.Consider if you want to do business with a company that relieves itself of the burden of not injuring you.

I wish I could say this gym is good. Its got all the typical machines an LA fitness would have. I find certain areas of the gym have a funky smell to them. In my experience every gym Ive been in has a dress code and if this one has one it is not enforced. At least twice a visit someone is wearing jeans or khakis. Also there is excessive weight dropping from people that is loud enough to distract and also shake the floor but no employees address it. Come to think of it I never see any employees do any sort of walk throughs which explains why there are loose weights floating all over the place. So I hope you enjoy having to french kiss the water fountains to get a drink becauase your lips are a few centimeters from touching the steel. And lastly the mens locker room is excessively hot. Like a sauna outside the sauna.

I have only ever been to the LA Fitness in Highland Park, IL. Gym is clean, bathroom is clean, staff is welcoming and the facilities and amenities are nice. I havent had the same experience as the other users, but I can see how the experience could be very dependent on the location.

I tried to lift on two separate occasions using a day pass, once on a Thursday evening and once on a Saturday before noon. Both days were disappointing. The free weight area is filled with millenials who lack basic weightroom etiquette. Further, the layout is problematic for anyone using a decent lifting programs (e.g. 5/3/1, Texas method, etc.)...too many benches with no deadlift area. Overall, plenty of cardio equipment, machines, a spinning room, lap pool, and basketball court for a cheap monthly fee. Just keep in mind, those who are there because of the $20/month offer may not take their workouts as seriously as you.

This gym has the scummiest, greediest, most incompetent management Ive ever come across. Their biggest concern is meeting sales goals. Just coming into contact with them leaves you feeling gross and slimy.You want to change you training time? Too bad, first you have to hear why you need master training.You want to discuss your strength training goals? Too bad, this is why you need to do Crossfit and youre an idiot if you dont.You want to work out in peace? Too bad, heres a 30 second commercial over the PA system on why you should buy master training.Doing pushups in the middle of the highway during the middle of winter, surrounded by wolverines would literally be a better workout experience than walking through the doors of this gym.

Five years ago I would give it 5 stars. In those days broken lockers did not stay broken for weeks.

Very nice facility. We have not been able to go very much lately. It they have a ton of room and you dont ever feel like people are crowding you while you workout.

0 stars if possible. The staff and management here needs retraining on customer engagement. Twice my girlfriend was harassed by a PT beyond the point of “client poaching” in an unprofessional manner. I moved overseas and had to cancel my memeber ship after the agreed 6 months and was promised no further payments. I was, to my surprise charged the next month and Spoke with the manager the day before I left and had it refunded stating it wouldn’t happen again, ofcourse the following month they charged my account again. I know it’s not an “elite”gym so I won’t go on about the broken equipment, the unhygienic facilities or the fact that the club has no cap on members, pay for hand towels, staff not bothering to clean up any of the weights or equipment used in their own sessions let alone anyone else’s. From a professional and personal standpoint this gym is far below the standard on all levels.

I used to like this gym a year ago. It was quiet/clean/nice. Now its crowded and disorganized. Most of the time theres no soap in the locker room sinks, the shower room floor is filthy. It seems like they keep changing staffs (hmmm I wonder why?) and the front desk staffs are rude as hell most of the time, this one girl just sat on the chair, doesnt even look at the members walk in, & for some odd reason the staffs seem like they are there to flirt or play with their phone instead of doing what they are supposed to do. Today, one girl just walked in without a card and I am 100% sure she was not a member since I over heard her friends asking her how she managed to get in (I WONDER WHY THIS PLACE IS CROWDED!?) Also they mop the floor while there are people still working out in the gym like 3 hours before the gym closes, and I wasnt surprised to see a lady fall on her butt making a huge scene and many people came up to her asking if she was ok. so... why would this place do that when there are a lot of people!? The cleaning lady didnt give a crap and continues to mop the floor where there are a lot of seniors present? as far as I know it can be deadly for seniors to fall! after all, the gym should be well equipped, clean, and safe. And them staffs need to stop wasting corps. money and get back to work!! Im so frustrated to see a nice gym falling apart because of an idiotic manager not doing his/her job.

They created so much trouble when I needed to cancel it. They made me come back and forth between 9am - 5pm to seek for a chance to meet with the manager. Only the manager can approve it. On the top of that, their policy is to continue charging for the following month membership fee if the manager approves the cancellation this month. Its unbelievable that they make customers go through all of this.

The gym is pretty much what I expected.The equipment is working well. Sometime you have to look for the loose weights and dumb bells, but then I arrive after rush hour. It think it says more about the guests than the staff.

If you like working out in a crowded gym, where no one puts their weights back and everything is covered in someone else sweat, then LA fitness is for you. I was a member for 3 months and every time I went it was an awful experience. This specific LA fitness also charges $2 to use hand towels, which is probably why everything is covered with sweat/STDs. They also have these terrible hard plastic plates and their are never any weight clips available. I would rather workout in a small storage closet than ever go back. Every time I went to get a drink their was spit floating in the water fountain and also every single basketball they have is flat and in terrible condition. Please do yourself a huge favor and never (not even as a guest) workout here. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. I CANCELLED MY MEMBERSHIP YESTERDAY AND IVE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED!!

First off I would like to say Crystal the operations manager needs to be retrained if this is how she operates this gym!! This is the dirtiest gym I have ever been in. The equipment is old and the locker room/sauna is beyond filthy!! Unfortunately I cant say anything nice about this gym. Hopefully someone at corporate will look at all of these bad reviews and fix the problem but I wont hold my breath.

Cancelling an LA Fitness or (formerly Ballys) membership is a nightmare. That is true. But this facility is clean. The equipment is in good working condition. And, its not too crowded. If you are are on a rent controlled membership like I was from Ballys, this is a ridiculous value for the money.

I have been a member for two years going on three and overall I think it is a nice club. The staff is courteous and the club is kept very clean and well maintained. My only gripes are it has very short hours compared to every other club I have ever belonged to and the staff really wants you to leave the minute the club closes (which I can’t really blame them).In terms of the equipment, unless you go during prime time (6ish – when everyone gets off of work) you can usually find all the equipment you need, although for some reason they only own one (1) EZ bar, it’s the bar that is smaller than the rest and is angled for easier grip.The only staff member I know by name is Rocky, and he is very friendly and helpful. I have not had to deal with the management so I cannot comment on them but I *would* recommend this club, if you live in the Northshore. Although, it is not as good as X-port fitness in the city, it is way better than Bally’s Health Club that used to be in Deerfield.

I am upset because GM cut off Fox News Channel 3 times during the last month. After my requests it was restored the next day except for the last occurence on 4/7/13. There are 11 channels in this facility but on all occasions known to me only FNC was targeted.
