My 3 year old son loves this office. Dr. Kamal is so good and fun with kids! He used the laser to treat my sons cavities and it was an awesome experience. I love that he was able to do it without any drugs!!! The whole office is very professional. I drive an hour to get to this office. Highly recommend!

This is my first experience having my hygienist identify trouble spots, explain why they were occurring, and the specific small, daily changes I could make to have a healthier smile. This feedback was so helpful! A few changes in the type of brush and my routine and I can avoid future procedures. No dentist has ever said more than, “Brush twice a day and floss.” This was such a different experience and they really want to help you have a healthier smile and less dental procedures. I can’t wait for my next visit in 6 months to confirm the positive effects of these suggested little changes!

The staff and the dentist were very professional and nice. The only complaint that I have is that I feel like I was way overcharged. I had one tooth pulled with a couple of x-rays and I was charged $620.00.

This dentist and his staff are amazing! So deserving of 5 stars. I would give 10 if I could. I had my hygiene appointment recently and Dr. Kamal found decay on my wisdom tooth which had been hurting off and on for a while. He gave me all different kinds of treatment options and I just wanted it gone. I did not want to go to an oral surgeon to have it removed and pay more since I was so comfortable with him. He was so warm and kind with a great sense of humor while also being sympathetic to my situation and offered to remove it next appointment. I came back a couple days later when my schedule allowed and the extraction appointment with Dr. Kamal went so smoothly and I felt ZERO PAIN! He is truly a god send. Now I am infection free! Thank you Dr. Kamal and staff for all of my amazing appointments. Will definitely recommend to anyone seeking ideal and top of the line dental care.

Dr. Kamal and his team are phenomenal. Dr. Kamal took over after our beloved Dr. Young passed away. Of course I was skeptical at first... after all, who could match the excellency of Matthew Young? Well, I got my answer.The whole team is friendly and the care is phenomenal. Dr. Kamal is dedicated to providing clients with the highest care. He listens to patient concerns, offers options and is a wealth of information on all things holistic.On top of that, his ability to execute dental work is unmatched! Normally the caps and fillings are sore for a few days. While Dr. Kamal warned the soreness could last a few days and everyone’s healing time is different, the soreness from the caps I received from him was gone by hour 15 and the soreness from the filling I needed was gone within hours (without anesthetic). On the past my soreness lasted up to two weeks.If you’re looking for an awesome dentist with a friendly welcoming team, who utilizes effective holistic methods and provides high quality dental care, Dr. Kamal and his team at Black Bear Dental will not disappoint! They are everything I could ask for in a dentist!

Ive been here several times and I am impressed with Dr. Kamal and his staff. I was seen promptly at my appointment time and they were efficient but not hurried.

I cant rate them highly enough. I had an abscessed tooth, I have been trying for over a year to get into my dentist to have it pulled but they always made up something they had to do first before they could pull it or call back at the beginning of next month cause were booked. At this point Im taking enough Tylenol to OD due to the excruciating pain, every other dentist I called could only offer an appointment a month out despite me literally crying and begging. (this pain was unreal) I left a message for Black Bear Dental and they got back to me within 10 minutes, got me in not even an hour later and got the tooth out! The moment I walked in the woman in front immediately got me my paperwork and didnt make me talk as she could tell I was in pain. Ran back and told them I was there, I was in the chair waiting for the numbing to kick in within 10 minutes of arriving. Every single member of this staff was absolutely extraordinary. I cannot thank them enough for being the only dentist to actually help me.

When you come through the doors you will notice almost immediately one thing...bears.. EVERYWHERE. Im a local girl, so I loved the symbolism the bear represents for this city and area. Dr. Kamal and his staff are very kind and know what theyre doing when youre in their care. The office environment is warm, and the services they offer make them dental superheroes. In office crowns, ozone services, safe materials, mercury removal, and so much more! Definitely 11/10 recommend.

There is always some apprehension when going to a new doctor or dentist for the first time, but my two experiences this week at Black Bear Dental were nothing but positive. The staff is great - warm and friendly and very professional. Dr. Kamal showed great caring and concern as he removed my last amalgam filling and replaced it with a crown. Biological dentistry may cost a little more, but your long term health is worth it.

After a short wait they took me in and my hygienist went over my x-rays and then started with the appointment. I felt everything went well with the check up. After she was finished with me, she went and got the Dr Kamal. He checked me over, and set up some future work that needed to be done. From top to bottom I think the office is very well organized and therefore runs very smoothly.

I took me a long time to find a dentist office that took heavy metals seriously so I was thrilled when I found Mathew Youngs office just a few years ago. I, like many, was dismayed when he passed away, for so many reasons. Today I went in for my first cleaning in a while and was so pleased to see that it remains a very conscientious and welcoming office, especially in this time of COVID-19. They made it easy and safe. Its worth the drive from Asheville. And now, I promise to floss EVERYDAY and pull with coconut oil every other day.

I was very impressed by the new Black Bear Dental office. Although I have spent the last 10 years under Dr. Youngs care, I am now thrilled to be a patient of Dr. Kamal. He has turned the office into a more professional environment. Absolutely love the new decor which consists of bears (makes sense), Western Carolina landscapes, and scenic mountain views, He seems to have upgraded the technology and now has state-of-the-art equipment. If youre looking for a biological dentist, this is the place. While the skill level is high and in keeping with ADA standards, this is an office willing to think outside the box. Most impressive!

Having been a patient of Dr. Youngs before he died last year, I was concerned that the practice would be entirely changed and I wouldnt feel comfortable. When I arrived I was greeted by the same happy faces and immediately felt at home. My hygienist, Lindsey, was great as always. She explained the new Covid protocol, cleaned my teeth, removed some stubborn stains and took pictures of a problem area she found. Dr. Kamal was great. He was thorough with his exam, explained my options and patiently answered my questions. I made a follow-up appointment and will see him again within a week.

I was treated by Hayley Vatcher at the tail end of her time at UNC Dental School, and I have to say - Black Bear is LUCKY to have her! Through every step of my treatment she was kind, friendly, and 100% knew what she was doing. She worked very meticulously and was extremely thorough and detail oriented, which I greatly appreciated from the person working on my sensitive teeth! She also went above and beyond in terms of patient care, checking in with me after each appointment to make sure I didnt have any pain and answering any questions I had. When my treatment was paused mid-crown placement due to COVID-19 and the school year ended, she made it her mission to get me my permanent crown before I moved out of state - and she succeeded! Im immensely grateful to her, and her patients are so fortunate to have her as a dentist.

Before coming to see Dr. Kamal at Black Bear Dental, I was a nervous patient with a high level of anxiety about coming to the dentist. When I walked in, I was greeted by Marietta. She was so calming and kind. The atmosphere consisted of an essential oil diffuser, light music, warm lighting, mountain photographs and black bear decor. The inviting yet relaxing environment along with the warm welcome from Marietta made me lose my anxious feeling instantly. I then met Dr. Kamal and Carmen and I was so impressed that Dr. Kamal was willing to do my treatment right then and there. He warmed up the anesthesia so that I wouldn’t feel as much discomfort and I couldn’t believe that I didn’t even feel the injection at all! He massaged my tissues afterwards and was so charismatic and enthusiastic about dentistry. His smile is contagious and his fun personality makes me excited to return back for my last round of treatment. Because of my experience that not only made me alleviate my anxiety for the dentist, but now makes me look forward to returning, Black Bear Dental has my highest recommendation.
