With UofC being one of the top schools in the country, I would think evey extension of the school would provide exemplary service - even the hospitals in their network. What I experienced today was void of customer focus. I went to the emergency room at 11pm, left at 3am without being settled in a room. I understand the wait but I do not understand the staff not giving us updates. During the time I was there, not one patient was called to occupy a bed. With that long wait time, I think it would be courteous to inform waiting patients of whats going on. Besides that, the waiting room was disgusting; floors were filthy and seats had spots - during this covid uproar, I would think more attention would have been taken. I had an employee wipe down my chair. I asked if anyone can make the waiting room semi-presentable, she said shell see. No one came to care for the space. Also, there were 2 fights within that little time period. Administrative control of the space was limited. Although this hospital is in an impoverished area, customer service should be the main focus no matter what. Thank you.

Ingalls Memorial had 1 doctor to manage entire ER - time from arrival by ambulance 9 am until notification of intent to admit 3 pm.. The staffing hierarchy prioritizes [cost to run an ER] rather than [patients medical care with minimum time in ER]. Spent time in numerous ER throughout Chicagoland area. This ER was the worst run ER most likely due to budget restraints NOT due to medically skilled employees. The In-patient hospital stay was an extreme disappointment. Patient Care is not the priority.

The Mammography Department administration would get zero stars if available. Apparently there is only one person, Stephanie, that can make appointments and you will never get her. I’m guessing she must let all calls go to voicemail then returns them at a later date. I have tried to call 8 times today and I get voicemail every time. I then tried making my appointment through central scheduling but they transferred back to Stephanie’s voicemail again! Get this girl some help please!!!

Really messed up billingNot part of University of Chicago System as far as insurance is concerned, so not in network. Not part of MyChart, impossible to see account, payments or charges. Physicians at the hospital are part of a different network, I was told nothing is covered, later got a bill saying insurance paid 1/3, but I already paid entire bill, but now they would like for me to pay again. Two mammograms have cost me several thousand dollars and counting.

She is extremely intimidated by nurses who are willing to tell her she is unprofessional and incompetent as a clinical nurse maneger. This organization is failing due to their lack of patient safety and incompetent leadership. Please send her to a leadership training convention. My mother went here because she had uterine problem and was feeling extreme pain. After meeting with the condescending, unprofessional gynecologist who told her it was most likely her period, she was sent home. They didnt even preform a biopsy to see what was wrong. The second time she went is because she was sent in an ambulance. The nurses didnt even give her a bed. She was sat up in chairs even though she was in pain. The responding nurses were unprofessional as well, but thats not a surprise considering where they work. One of the nurses struck my mother several times in the face (what she described as popping,) because she was asking for actual help. She left the hospital in an Uber because they wouldnt help her. I was sent back into the waiting area & was later called back into a room where I had and ekg and blood drawn then right after went to get my X-ray. After my X-ray I went back into the room and waited approximately 45 minutes -1hour just to be told I’m being discharged and didn’t even go over test results I was just given naproxen for chest wall pain, but when they asked I told them I wasn’t having any pain it was just discomfort so overall new workers are need . Guys please go anywhere else for your healthcare. The urgent care center charges as an Emergency Room and they subcontract their doctors so you will be charged separately for their services as well. I had to call three times to ask for an itemization of charges for the urgent care visit (where they did absolutely no interventions) and I am still waiting for it. With insurance, my boyfriend was initially charged $800, and now 5 months later he received another bill for $1,392 to see Steven Lubera, DO. We received the bill today, Jan 4th and the payment is due Jan 25th.

Had outpatient surgery at Ingalls back in December, which turned into a 2 night stay. Out of all the medical staff that was a part of my in-patient care only ONE nurse seemed to be very hard working and caring. She did her job and the medical assistants job as well. The medical assistant spent her shift chatting with her co-workers, who I could hear from my room their conversation being that I was located about 5 feet from the Nurses station and I would listen to them talk about everything but patients. At discharge I was very impressed with the medication discharge procedure; My medication was delivered to my room and a call placed to the Pharmacist to explain to me medication instructions. Ingalls may not made a great impression on Me but some things were nice. Extra KUDOS to the ONE Nurse that appeared to be about real business, I only hate that I cant remember her name.

My 14yr old had a syncopal episode (passed out) at home. I went to Ingalls, and a registration lady took her name and put it on a clipboard, (DIDN’T EVEN REGISTER HER) and we sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes before I decided to leave. They didn’t even at least REGISTER HER so there was no accountability of time as to how long they have someone in the waiting room, especially with a possible cardiac issue, before doing anything. They should NOT have NON MEDICAL PEOPLE at the front desk. There should be a nurse up front to at least hear what people are coming in for.I left there, went to South Suburban Hospital. They registered her as soon as we stepped in the doors. Proceeded to do an EKG, vitals, and blood sugar. All under 10 minutes. Because that’s what you do, In a possible cardiac situation. I don’t mind waiting for a room or to be seen by a doctor. But as a 16 yr ER Nurse, I know what complaints should be addressed immediately and which ones can wait. Wonder how many people have died sitting in Ingalls waiting room, waiting to be AT LEAST registered.

This hospital does not have the equiptment necessary to monitor their patients. My mom is there right now in critical condition (though not being treated as such) and we had to insist her oxygen be monitored. When they finally brought in the machine to do that they informed us this was the machine for the whole floor, and it would not monitor her blood pressure, so were cherry picking vitals monitoring. They wont leave us both machines. Equipment scarcity. Tried to get her transferred to another hospital, but the staff and doctors are more concerned with their policy (aka doc not willing to make a single phone call himself - this runs juxtaposed to the policy of the hospital we are trying to transfer her to) and their jobs than with the health and safety of their patients. Now Im concerned that my efforts to get her transferred will degrade the quality of her care even further. They said we can walk out, but thats too dangerous. This really shouldnt be allowed to be this way. This hospital is a trap.

However, I called today to speak to a doctor or nurse briefly on what I can take for my cough/runny nose while nursing. The emergency line was completely unhelpful. After I told the lady my situation she said I need to speak with my ob/gyn. I explained that I cannot get in touch with her or her nurses on any of their lines (even left a message with no call back-didn’t get a chance to say this part though). She preceded to repeat what she said about calling my ob/gyn because she knows me better than they do and rush me off the phone. I told her thanks even though she didn’t help at all and she said ‘mmm’ and I said whatever and hung up. Most of the staff are nice. Communication between staff is poor. The rooms go for days without being cleaned. I brought in bleach wipes and cleaned the room myself after requesting that it be cleaned several times. It appears that MOST patients were receiving the same tests for different conditions (brain MRI, CT scans etc). In one week I’ve been with a very sick relative for 8-10 hours each day and had many days where NO ONE came in for 2-3 hours to check on her. I witnessed a patient being told that she was going to be discharged the next morning but when the time came she waited from 8 AM- 3PM being told that it was transportation’s fault because she was #13 in line and low priority. One of my family members went down to get a wheelchair to take her downstairs so that her family could pick her up. Not enough staff for really sick people...NO sense of urgency.... after 9 days, biopsies and many other tests... still no diagnosis or speculation on a large lung mass that is highly suspicious. Tests are ordered and canceled with no explanation. If you or a relative are really sick... DON’T COME HERE!!!!!!!! Talking to supervisors doesn’t help!!! Nothing changes!! But... they are very nice people for the most part..... 3 Days after my initial review... my aunt died suddenly in the same room with no treatment or diagnosis after 12 days. The staff didn’t know the proper code to call for assistance when she stopped breathing. They walked slowly down the hall, chatting and laughing.

The management of this hospital fired a woman harassed by an Internet troll, because she became too much of a liability”.Everyone interested in finding if they care for well-being of their patients in a way they care for well-being of their personnel may risk his or her life by choosing services of this lousy hospital. And all decent people should boycott this disgraceful institution.

This is a very good hospital I always liked it. The workers in the emergency room are a little rude and seem like they dont want to be there but doctors an nurses were very nice! I left the hospital in Hammond just to go here.

Been waiting 2 and a half hours just to do a drug test. SLOW SLOW SLOW. I walked in and some lady told me to have a seat, didnt tell me to sign in or anything. *update* 3 and a 1/2 hours they ask me if I can come back tomorrow. Very unprofessional place should be closed. Unbelievable how much time I just wasted.

This is the most ridiculous hospital in the south burbs, the African American women that work there are the worst ones. I got there before first shift and 3 hours later still not seen, before taking my daughter blood pressure the nurses was having a full conversation about what happen in there personal life.

Sister who has DVT was left in the ER waiting room for over 6 hours. Came in for excessive bleeding and pain! Rude comment made from intake when asked how much longer is the wait. They need to be shut down and overhauled!

My son is 1 year old, bleeding out from his head, falling asleep and twitching. Ive been here going on 1 hour and 15 minutes while people are still being called and the charge nurse politely let me know she is calling people in the order SHE sees fit, but he will be handled soon. He could have head trama, swelling or even an concussion but these cold hearted ignorant nurses would rather him rot in the waiting room. They could have AT LEAST took him to xray/cat scan to make sure the situation was controlled. I will never come back to this hospital! Harvey is a hell hole!

I was discharged from Ingalls today after staying overnight in observation. The entire staff, exercised a very professional level of care from the orderly, CNA, nurse, housekeeping and physicians. They made my stay comfortable and I will gladly share the news about my experience with others. thank you.

Today was terrible Im currently 13 weeks pregnant and was having sharp stomach pains with a strong headache, I came into the er at 6:04 pm, it wasnt until 11:02 pm that I went to the front desk to ask when do they think I would be seen, the lady argyle desk was a older black woman with a nasty attitude and responded I dont know what do you want me to do, then proceeded to look on the computer and say well it looks like you have 2 people in front of you, you have to wait until a spit become available. I always thought pregnant patients was first priority, however I left still in pain and a severe headache, I normally go to places like north western or Illinois Masonic because of better services!!! THIS HOSPITAL IS TERRIBLE!!!

I could not have asked for a better group of professionals to entrust my health. The doctors, RNs, CNAs, housekeeping, and transportation members went above and beyond to make me feel special. Spending 2 weeks in the hospital was not easy. Everyone made sure that my care was most EXCELLENT!!

Its bad enough that you even need to be in a hospital but there must be a nursing shortage because Ive run across two surly nurses (Becky and Diane) and a one surly CNA (Ashley). This is just in a few days. Ladies, I get that there may be a problem but must you take it out on your patients? I also understand that you cant drop everything for every request but if you can remember how to save someones life then it shouldnt be so hard to remember a request. If you get caught up in something - write it down. If you dont have it then tell the patient - no need to leave them in the dark. I can see why youre on the night shift.Theres two stars because of Brittany. Shes wonderful!
