Horrible...... freezing cold and raining today and they won’t allow you to sit inside until the two visitors from upstairs come down. Also bring your ID, every visitor that enters needs an ID to go visit a patient, since when does a hospital need IDs. The front desk security guard is more focused on working his arms with a band over head. They should be fired for treating humans like this. At least let you stand inside in 44 degree weather!

Absolutely rude on the phone.Wish I had got her name.I wanted to get a second opinion on possible surgery on my knee and she said they dont give second opinions!!! So where the hell does someone supposed to go?Then shes trying to tell me that they dont do crossover appointments from other doctors when I already had two surgeries done at Hartford Hospital through Hartford Healthcare from Middlesex Hospital doctors.She told me to go elsewhere for a 2nd opinion. NIIIIICE!!!!

I am so grateful to be writing this review. I received excellent care during my stay here. I had a very complex surgery that required a Neuro and Ortho surgeons. The surgery became urgent and I was admitted immediately because my orthopedic doctor, Dr. Zhou, was on top of my case. I am currently completing acute rehab and doing great! I would like to thank Dr. Kiloroy ,the Neuro surgeon ,who was able to manipulate my spinal cord for proper function. I would like to send a special thanks to the nursing staff as they made my stay very comfortable and enjoyable!

You have to pay to park, theres no where else to park for free. I saw Dr Hafiz who seemed fine until the second appointment when she was snippy with me when I asked questions. I tried to get my records and was told you have to wait 30 days and pay for them. The receptionist was rude and put me on hold when she didnt know the answer to my questions. There are better places than this. Hartford Hospital gets money from your insurance company, your co-pays and parking. For what? Rudeness and a lack of professionalism.

Completely blown away by the efficiency and service here. Communication between everybody is on point, nurses are friendly and accommodating, Dr. Miranda is a really nice down to earth guy, and the room and service overnight was extremely comfortable despite the pain I was in. I trust this place completely with my health and my surgery.

My husband Will had surgery performed by Dr. Keggi of Middlebury. Excellent Surgeon. Great Bedside Manner. Highly recommend this doctor performing surgery at this location. Staff amazing. Clean! Efficient!

I fell and broke my femur late Christmas night. I was taking by ambulance to Hartford Hospital ER. I was in horrible pain and I apologize for my screaming while so many X-rays and then a cat scan were done, but they had to find out exactly what I had broken after my fall. I had my surgery the next day and woke up at the Bone and Joint Institute in a beautiful very large room. My surgery was performed by Dr. Hanbing Zhou from Orthopedic Associates of Hartford and I can’t thank him enough for the wonderful job he did. I can’t thank all the nurses, aides and everyone who took such good care of me. Every one that I had was wonderful!!! It was so nice to have a choice of food from a menu that you called in for each meal. My husband who came every day parked in their garage and his parking was validated. I have been in the hospital a lot through the years and I have to say this was the best experience I ever had.

Very ver priced and the costs were not explained. I had shoulder surgery in December at started PT right before the new year. In 2019 I had met my deductible. After the new year at my first appointment I specifically asked about changes to my billing but the BJI explained that there was no copy. After going to therapy twice a week for 6 weeks I was sent a 1400 bill. No one told me the costs had change, nor did they inform me of the costs at each appointment. Additionally since they way they bill PT if you ask for extra stretching or ice at the end you are charged more.

I recently had back surgery and I have to rave about the after care I received. Each nurse that I encountered on the 4th floor were very atentative and caring. Barbara, Caroline and Ann Marie were exceptional. Pain is scary and they each had the compassion and ability to ease my fears and quick To respond. Their assistants also were quick to attend and I never felt they were annoyed by me. Adrian, Mitch and Dawn, thank you for being patient with me. I wanted to make sure these fabulous nurses get the recognition they deserve.

I am SO impressed with all of the staff at outpatient services. I broke my wrist just before Christmas 2017, ended up in ER, then was referred over to the Bone & Joint Institute for follow up during the months of healing.I applaud everyone from the front desk, to the X-ray technician, to the man who made my casts, to the nurses who take BP etc to Dr Andrea Gale who attended to me with expert care and consideration at all times. THANK YOU ALL very very much!!!

One week ago Dr. Nagarkatti performed a total hip replacement. First, I want to commend his staff for having it ALL together from beginning to end. I met a knee replacement patient at the class and her Dr. office was the worst; nothing was communicated to her. It is nice to feel like you are checking into a resort after being taken to your room after surgery. The welcome bag with T-shirt, blanket among other items takes your mind off the surgery. I use that blanket every day at home as it is just the right size. The nurses, staff, food preparers were very attentive. Mine was not an easy case because I always have complications after surgery. My sister and I were treated very well. My only negative is I believe the parking should be entirely free. I highly recommend the BJI and Dr Nargakatti. Thank you to great staff.

I had knee replacement surgery this past Friday. Dr Nagarkatti was my surgeon. I received excellent care from Dr Nagarkatti, anesthesiologist, nurses, PCA, PT, recovery room staff and food preparers. Everyone was kind and very caring. I recommend Orthopaedic Associates of Hartford and Bone & Joint Institute very highly.Thank you all for the excellent careIrma

My sister had the best care at this hospital, inpatient, hip replacement! Nurses, so responsive, case workers who listened...be proud, Hartford, of this shining healthcare facility! As an OR nurse myself I can honestly say I am VERY unimpressed with the way this institution conducts business. My husband broke his ankle and had never broken anything or had any surgical procedures before. They never took the time to call and explain the procedure in advance, no instructions on medication to stop or precautions to take prior to surgery, or even expected recovery time. It was only until I asked numerous questions day of surgery that we got any answers. The Dr was great and very quick to respond to my questions but the staff should have already explained everything to us. To top it off they only allowed me to see my husband post OP for 5 minutes without any explanation as to why I could not stay with him and let him sit back there alone while I waited to find out what was going on. I dont feel like this is good customer service or even common practice and I did not feel my husband was well taken care of at all. This is the only hospital Ive ever known of to charge for parking and to be so cold to thier patients and families. I hope we NEVER have to return and I reccomend researching other options before choosing this hospital for anyone else needing orthopedic surgery.

I have a broken ankle in 3 for 2and a half weeks now and they still have no scheduled yet alone have found a doctor to do the procedure. Maybe if I had free Medicare it will be a difference but I dont

Orthopedic residents response to my daughters pain issues was horrible. Be forewarned this was an awful experience for us from day 1. If you have a choice, go somewhere else or face unmitigated pain with slow/no response.
