This is the hospital where I was born but more importantly they are still helping me improve my quality of life. The ER has always been incredibly accommodating even during the extreme conditions and sheer patient volume that was a result of Covid-19. Even under those grueling circumstances they were companionate and went above and beyond. Their primary care, physical therapy and ancillary care departments and facilities continue to raise the bar in terms of complete healthcare. Thank you for assisting my parents in delivering me into this world and thank you for continuing to care for all of my healthcare needs during this difficult time in my life. Also, thank you for being absolute warriors during this pandemic and thank you for all of the sacrifices you make to care for our community!

Time that I came was 12pm in the morning. I know you the wait when you come to the hospital. So its now 6pm & Im still in the triage. I was told that I couldnt get any pain meds for my pain & nothing for me having a difficult time breathing. The young ma (medical assistant) that we assign to me was ok from the start. But once I pressed the call button after being isolated in a room her manners where so nasty. I didnt get her name yet but the fact that this girl gave no care that I was in pain. She was just so nasty to me.let me not forget when she came in the room she just dropped the bed without giving me a heads up. I thinks she did this because I told her that it hurts really bad when I move .Harford Hospital Im addressing you that your employees need to be addressed about how I was treated.

This is an observation upon entering the main entrance lobby, not of the staff on the bliss building. First employee that we saw this past Saturday was a female slouched at her desk, FaceTiming, eating from a big bag of chips, and drinking a can of soda. Didnt acknowledge us or look up from her device. Honestly, why is she there? Does not add an ounce of integrity or professionalism to hospital imagine. Hartford hospital you could do better and you should!

I recently had a 5-hour long surgery at Hartford Hospital. I was nervous because it’s a long time to be under general anesthesia (also my first time). I dreaded the thought of being at the hospital alone, without my family, and the reviews here made me even more scared.I arrived at the hospital at 5:30AM and was welcomed by such nice people (who can be nice at 5:30AM?!) Everything was ready for me, and the nurses thoroughly explained how everything was going to go. The anesthesiologist team also came over and talked to me, explaining all the details and what to expect. At that point, I wasn’t so nervous anymore. I was surrounded by people who seemed to genuinely care about my well-being.The surgery went very well! Back at the recovery room, I woke up feeling so confused and scared. My nurse was a real angel who made me feel much more comfortable. She barely left my side, she listened to all my concerns and did everything to make me feel more comfortable. Later when my husband came to visit, he was surprised to see how happy I was.We are forever thankful for the wonderful work you guys do! Thank you taking such good care of me.

They don’t have time to help you in the bathroom .. they don’t have time to get you something to eat how does someone become dehydrated while in the hospital!? Because they don’t take care of their patients! if you have a loved one there I highly suggest you keep a very close eye on them!! They have no compassion and its very clear that we are just a number. Was sent by referral from urgent care and they already did a UA. Told the nurse (Diana i believe her name was) who still insisted on doing a UA. Saw my results online and it was a pregnancy test, I already the woman that I was currently on my period but of course she didnt listen and now itll just be another thing I have to pay.

With the exception of certain nurses in Center 10, namely Rachel, Corey and Rema, and Dr. Weissler Snir, I am appalled by the treatment my husband had post ablation. He repeatedly told doctors and nurses of symptoms including lightheadedness, anxiety, chest pain and tightness, nausea and heart palpitations following his lengthy heart procedure. He also maintained an abnormally high heart beat, confirmed by staff as they also stated it seemed too high for comfort. He complained of symptoms that are consistent with a blood clot yet no one checked for this. It was insisted upon us that it was merely anxiety.  Apparently blood clots are quite common in patients with long hospital stays, wether they have had surgery or not, due to being bedridden. This was confirmed with a trip to the ER, in a different hospital. Prior to discharge from Hartford, my husnand inquired if he could visit the ER should he not feel better. A nurse named Priya told him Yeah but I dont think they will do anything for you. He is now admitted elsewhere with a blood clot in his lung. The blood clot carries with a much higher mortality rate than his heart condition (WPW) and the procedure he endured.  Being that blood clots are so common in long stay patients I am highly concerned with the large amount of rsponses of I dont know when we asked what could be causing his symptoms. I believe the hospital is understaffed, overwhelmed and anxious to discharge those stable in an effort to get the next patient in a room and spending money. I see the hospital recently spent $80 million on a new wing, yet they still have old equipment, such as the way I witnessed blood pressure being taken. Still with the stethoscope under the hand operated cuff, which one of my husbands nurses was unable to calculate correctly and had to be redone by someone else. What are people supposed to do when the hospital has become money hungry scumbags? We trust you with our health and our lives yet you trust the money coming in more than what we say. Money is nothing if youre dead. I wish the staff and the ones who make all the big decisions could experience being a patient in their own hospital. It is state of the art but I would never describe my husbands stay that way.

Beware. Saw on the Hartford hospital website that the calcium scoring was 99 dollars. Got the 1 minute scan. I told them I had a high deductible plan but they still wanted my insurance card. They said the 99 dollars could be even lower so I gave the insurance card. The bill was over 300 dollars. Called to complain but because I gave the insurance card and the insurance company knocked off 30 dollars I had to pay full price. Watch out for the bait and switch. If insurance paid nothing it would have been 99 dollars. Did not honor 99 dollars when I called to complain. Why not mention this on website that if you have a high deductible plan to please just pay cash. This would have been the correct thing to do.

Bad experience from beginning to end. Brought my mom for surgery. When I waited in the waiting room, I could not read the screen that gives the patients status (pre-op, surgery, post-op) b/c I was never given my moms patient number. Nurse wasnt there for 1-1/2 hours, so couldnt get my moms patient number until then. Then my mom just disappeared from the screen for about 1-1/2 hours. I found a nurse (a challenge) and asked her to find out what happened to my mom. Nothing was wrong, apparently, but her patient # just disappeared from the screen. My mom came out with a sore eye, although her surgery wasnt anywhere near her eye. The nurses asked for the anesthesiologist to stop by to explain what happened. He/she never stopped by during my moms 35 hour stay. Terrible coordination. Surgeon was skilled, nurses on shift were nice. Hospital management and lack of coordination was miserable.

I had surgery here 14 years ago At that time no problems and the teams were cohesive and every department worked together.I just had to have another major operation and the only thing that was decent about my stay were the majority of the nurses kindness and understanding. Other than that you can tell they dont know what management staff is doing from post op to icu or anywhere else. No consistency- no real collaboration between departments and the kitchen staff clearly doesnt care about fulfilling your order or at least substituting something if one of the items you ordered isnt available. Literally ordered chicken noodle soup and mashed potatoes. Got a scoop full of mashed potatoes, nothing else besides the tea on the tray. That was just the first meal and continued like that the entire time. Only got one meal exactly as ordered. And its not like they have an extensive menu so it shouldnt be that hard. Overall stay was horrible except for the supportive and understanding nursing staff and that is the only reason I gave two stars. Shout out to all of them but a special thank you to Shantel and Ryan ~

God forbid you should have any kind of medical emergency and wind up in this place. Based on my experience, patients are treated as inconveniences and given attention only as a last resort. If you have the misfortune of being admitted to the ER, you can expect to be ignored by the staff for six or seven hours at a time. I wish that was hyperbole; instead, it’s the cold truth and an indication of just how broken the U.S. medical system is.If you have any say in the matter, do your best to be admitted to the UCONN Medical Center and avoid Hartford Hospital like the plague.Think I’m finicky or hard to please? Take a look at the number of 1-star reviews this hospital has gotten in the past two years. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Horrible hospital! My husband was shot on TUESDAY! For whatever reason, he was taken to this very unorganized placed instead of St. Francis which is actually directly across the street from us. I digress. He has been calling me every night since the incident from HARTFORD HOSPITAL! Whenever myself, or anyone from the family calls, simply even to check on him, they tell us “the patient isn’t in the system.” Regardless of what demographic information is given. The night of the incident, he changed the locks on our apartment. Unfortunately, we weren’t there when he was doing this as I had to run out to check on my father. I’m only trying to get the staff to bring the new key downstairs and it’s like performing brain surgery. Over four days in the hospital and his information isn’t in the system. How?! At what point does the lazy staff enter patient information in? When it’s time to be billed? Operators are USELESS, patient relations is USELESS, with the exception of literally ONE employee and I wish i could remember his department, I do know his name is Mr. Stan, who went out of his way to find him in the hospital and go to his room for me, absolutely no one cared about me, my children, our situation, nothing. I was considering following with the hematology department here being that we just moved out here, but now? Absolutely not. I’ll die before I go to a hospital where the workers don’t even know how to use a computer. How do I know you can draw blood, insert iv’s, give injections, give the right prescription dosages. The entire staff (again except Mr. Stan) needs sensitivity training. Terrible all around. Even a month ago! My daughter and I were running fevers and I asked that she, my oldest daughter, and myself be tested for Corona. Would you believe the doctors denied the test initially for the children?! Baby girl was running a 103° fever when we came in! After I’d given her Tylenol at home! They were more concerned with getting me over to the adult side so they could treat me with narcotics for sickle cell! And again denied the test even for me! Thank God we weren’t infected but still. What if we were? What if we died? DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES TO HEARTLESS HOSPITAL! Despicable workers with despicable dispositions. If I could leave zero stars I would. Joe, and Liz the operators are the worse of all.

I will start off with thanks that my wife is still alive.. MOST of the nurses and physical Therapist were very helpful & caring.Unfortunately there isn’t much more positive beyond that.. In her 8 day stay I received 1 phone call, to tell me the procedure was successful.. After the procedure I saw the attending physician in the ICU once shortly after the procedure was completed, still being in shock of my wife having an aneurysm that had burst twice and was alive and doing very well, I didn’t have any questions, I never saw or heard from another Dr. after that.. She had some adverse effects to the pain medication which could’ve been resolved much earlier if anyone cared to talk to me.. also changing a daily maintenance drug dose with no discussion or even mention..Being a Neuro unit you’d think the staff would recognize that someone with a brain bleed may not be themselves, that is clearly not the case.. total lack of communication, and unable to get a follow up appointment within the week after being discharged as asked by neurologist who did the procedure, or even get a call back for questions about prescribed meds.. My wife has a significant medical history with several chronic illnesses.. At this point I feel fortunate that my wife was a nurse or I wouldn’t have had any idea what was happening.. It feels like “we fixed you, you’re on your own now... good luck”..A week and a half post discharge no follow up phone calls from anyone. It seems you need to educate yourself to stay informed/alive, because the level of concern after being discharged is nonexistent.. Apparently the follow up with the email address provided in the response is also just to pacify, no response from that either.. next step is to call the number provided but I’m doubtful that will produce anything worthwhile as nothing to date has...very disappointing and stressful experience..

They didnt want to do the surgery because it came out positive and I told them to give me the discharge papers that I was going home. On Monday I went to a clinic to take the test and today Wednesday I received the result and it is NEGATIVE, which I knew it would be like that, I think they did that to charge the health insurance. I will contact my insurance anyway to inform them and I will report the hospital since no treatment was given for the medical reason that I went. Now everyone that goes to ER with a headache of abdominal pain etc. has COVID, of course just because they get paid for patients that are positive. Your doctors and nursing staff that spoke with me were wonderful, as well as your crisis worker. I felt like a human being again speaking with them. As for the rest of the staff that arrived at around 7-7:30 am, completely unprofessional. Is the psychiatric unit the place to have a political discussion? No. I think not. You have a break room for that. You had one Trump supporter and the rest were Biden supporters. Irrelevant I know, but this is strictly so you can identify your staff members who decided to engage in such and inappropriate debate in front of patients. Your trump supporter was a tall man with curly hair, and one of your Biden supporters was a man wearing a macaroon face mask. The others were nurses that were female Biden supporters. One of your nurses decided that she didn’t like what your Trump supporter had to say, and like a child throwing a tantrum, decided to unplug your trump supporter’s computer screen. Macaron man didn’t like what your Trump supporter had to say, and walked away with his hands in the air. Trump supporter also had someone he was training on top of it. Very bad example to set. This election is already stressing people out to the brink of insanity. How do you know you didn’t have patients in there for that reason? I hear enough about this stupid freak show of an election at home, and I didn’t need one of those same stressors where I came to get help. Hire adults instead of bickering children.

I had a procedure done in same day surgery a few days ago and I was blown away by the treatment and care that I received. Although I was only there for a few hours, the whole process went smoother than I could have ever imagined. I was anxious before my procedure, and the staff made me feel at ease. The nurse who took care of me in PACU afterwards, Michelle, was great. Thank you Hartford Hospital for taking such good care of me!

My mom and I arrived around 4:30 pm to the Hartford Hospital E.R medical services. After 5 hours in the waiting room, someone called us in. We walked to the back to be placed on a bed in the hallway. I asked if this was another wait time period or would she be examine in the hallway? Respond: Doctor will examine her in the hallway.A positive experience: someone in passing the hallway from housekeeping asked my mom if she needed a pillow because she noticed.Brought her a pillow helped her get comfy, covered her and checked if she needed socks. My mom declined the socks. Lastly, smile and rubbed her shoulder and hope you feel better. Its the small things that count. I will make sure to let her Supervisor know what a compassionate worker they have.Still waiting to be examine...

First time I went I had been prescribed Azithromicin which says on the bottle you cant have with my thyroid issues, which I was diagnosed with there. Just this week I visited for an intestinal infection which turned out to be C-diff and they discharged me and never gave me a call on my test results telling me to come back in. The next day I went to the Grafton Aurora after losing 12lbs barely hanging on and they admitted me and I felt better 10x a couple days later. I wouldnt take my dog to this Aurora facility. Ill drive 45 minutes to Grafton or Oconomowoc from now on.

I went there to the ER once because I broke my ankle and they instead tried to force meds on me by locking me in a room. Dont trust this place because they may harm you with addictive drugs. I dont want anyone forcing anything on me. I guess thats how they make money. I couldnt even get a real doctor until complaining for many hours at which point the doctor who offered no assistance with my ankle allowed me to leave.

My best friend is there for 4 days with no food and water. I’m his emergency contact and for 3 days I can’t get any information about his condition. Every day when I call the nurse is telling me that the doctor will call and I’m still waiting! Yesterday during my visit this same thing, makes me very sad when I see my helpless friend crying.

Forced me to stay over night and didn’t allow me to eat solid foods after I expressed if I didn’t eat solid food I’d be sick (the reason I came in). I have expressed I do not feel sick anymore and I was just sitting in a bed for nothing. I also told them how anxious I was getting being here and they told me it didn’t matter. Horrible hospital not accommodating or nice at all.

I am not a fan of hospitals, the doctors office, or taking medication, so when I got pregnant with my first son I was terrified of being in the hospital and under the control of doctors. I felt that I would not be able to advocate for my own body against their judgments and that they would do what they thought would be most time efficient to get me in and out of the hospital without much care or consideration for me or my growing family. However, after my experience at Hartford Hospital my views on the medical industry have completely changed and have been restored!I was in awe of the care I received at Hartford Hospital in both their labor and delivery, and postpartum units! Even though we worked with a rotating shift of nurses, doctors, and aids (which I imagined would be very difficult) everyone, and Im not exaggerating when I say EVERYONE, was so considerate of what my husband and I needed while giving birth and while learning how to recover from our labor! And each team member transitioned so well to the next! Each person we worked with was knowledgeable, could answer our questions, was professional, and extremely kind! Both the doctors and nurses never pushed what they thought was best, but were VERY considerate of what I wanted during labor. I never felt pressured, but was always offered many options. By the end of our fourth day it felt like the staff there were family members! The lactation consultants did everything possible to make sure we felt prepared and confident leaving the hospital. Everyone reassured us that we were not alone and made the transition from our wonderful hospital stay to back home very smooth! I could not be more happy with and thankful for the beautiful team of people that worked to bring my son into the world! It really took a whole village to birth our baby boy and Hartford Hospital was the perfect place!

I participated in the Scrubs Tour at Hartford Hospital, and it was an educational and truly inspiring day. The physicians and senior leadership drive every decision based on quality of care for the patients. After seeing the details of almost every department in the hospital, I can attest that you will receive unbeatable care.

This place saved my life a year ago, when I was airlifted to them from Rockville for severe pneumonia and septicemia. They did something called ECMO on me, which is what saved my life. Had I not received this treatment, my chances of survival were then about 28%. Had I received no treatment and stayed at home, they estimated I had about 12 hours left. So I am DEEPLY thankful for the doctors and nurses who worked so hard on me and saved me.I also wanted to reiterate that I had some very kind medical care workers there. My o2 deprivation, severe infection, and the many drugs I was on as well as being in a sort of medical “rest” (sedated enough so I was not aware of the respirator, which I am so thankful for) for a few weeks meant I was not lucid when I came to. I realize I was a very difficult patient, as I didn’t understand why I was there, what happened to me or what was going on. For the most part the nurses and drs were kind and helpful.I did have a few nurses and medical assistants who were not just unprofessional but literally cruel. Especially considering my state of mine and what I had lived through, this is unfortunate. To these medical professionals, I would like them to be honest with themselves and ask if they truly enjoy their jobs. If they do, that’s excellent. But patient care is #1, and if you’re going to be aggravated by people who are at their most weak, confused and deeply vulnerable, please don’t have this job. No one as a patient deserves to be afraid or bullied or anything else by a staff member - especially when they already don’t feel safe because they aren’t aware of what is really going on around them.Overall I am glad I was here and the majority of helpful medical staff overruled those who were unpleasant (or down right vicious). My main recommendation is to have family or friends - anyone who will advocate for you - there as often as possible, especially if medication or your illness affects your behavior, thoughts or how you are able to communicate. I think this is true though for all hospital and medical centers. I ultimately feel they are medically skilled and that most of them have good bedside manner. But speak up about anyone who doesn’t/or who makes you feel uncomfortable!!!
