I purchased a home last year less than a year ago. To close on the house, the previous owners had to install a new HVAC system. Less than a year later, the AC is having mechanical issues and now won’t turn on at all while having a new born in the house. I referred back to Michael and Sons being that the unit is less than a year old and should still be under warranty only to be told that I no longer have the warranty on the unit because it stays attached to the previous owner because they had it fixed 2 weeks before I closed. Now I have to pay out of pocket to have a $5k unit fixed that was just installed last October. 1/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I have never used this company but I can tell you this, A very good lady friend of mine was persuaded by Michael & Son to install a brand new furnace even though her current furnace at the time was only 6 years old. They also added duct work to her HVAC unit, and in return it has never functioned correctly ever since, and even though literally 15 employees have been out to resolve the problem, not including several supervisors, not only did they NOT fix the problem they created, after 4 years they finally stated, You should have chose another company, ultimately it was your decision! I made this company a promise, I will NEVER use Michael & Son and recommend to everyone they think twice before they make the decision to use their services!

An update to my premature 5 star review. That brand new beautiful unit they installed only worked for about 10hrs after they installed it, saw no power on my brand new digital thermostat - I called them to let them know of the issue only to be told no one was available to come out for three days, unless I pay $169 bucks for emergency maintenance call. I SHOULD have been treated like emergency customer seeing how Id just bought a brand new unit and less than 15hrs later it was not working. I patiently waited 3 days in the heat all for them to inform my wife (I was out at the time the technician came) that it was a faulty switch. Yes single pole single throw light switch that was the issue and for him to replace it with a new one it would be $266!! Yes I said $266 for a single light swicth that cost less than 5 bucks at any appliance store, as it was over 90 degrees inside our home my wife agreed to the repair and they really charged be an additional $266 for a friggin light switch!! This is beyond disrespectful and I will be disputing this invoice! The system works fine now but I feel they gouged me at the last minute. Left me feeling a bit used. Not cool

They installed our unit for us and it was an experience that we will never forget. If I could give more than 5 stars...I would. This Business is Fantastic!Many Blessings to Them Always....

Michael & Sons is an establishment thats been around for awhile, however that does NOT MEAN that they are who you should use for your home needs. After calling corporate today, im livid at how unknowledged these folks are about their own establishment. They DO NOT OFFER restoration services if you live outside of Northern Va(where their pump trucks are), when it clearly states that they do....& they will give you the run around and have someone come out to your home only to say “we dont do that”. Who are the folks responsible for answering the phone for initial inquiries?! They will keep calling and calling to confirm arrival times even after you ask to void their services. No one is does their jobs here.Your company will go down more than what it has with the line of unprofessionalism you guys have going on now. Very unreliable.

Please do not use this company. They do not deserve a 1 star. I paid over 1,300 for a cleaning of my HVAC system. I was not told this would be the amount prior to the work being done. If I was this would NOT been authorized. I requested a refund, and Currie Barr, the manager declined. They very fast-talkers, and very close to being scammers. I will never recommend this business to anyone.

I’ve been a member with this company for 2 years now. I have an a/c and heating unit replaced in March of 2020. The guy that installed it didn’t come prepared and asked if they could come back on Monday when the warehouse was open. I told them that’s fine but they need to give me a heads up on time because I had a very important meeting to be in on Monday. They called me on Monday and told me they were 10 minutes away while I was at work. After they were done installing my units I looked at my house and they had sprayed oil all over the side of my house while removing that ac unit. I called and complained because Michael and sons had wonderful service last year so I figured they would rectify this situation. I met with the manager of the HVAC department at my home and showed him what happened. He offered a cleanup of the side of my house and $300 refund on the $9,000 unit I just had installed. I agreed. I never received the refund or the cleanup of my house. In September I had an hvac inspection with them and they found a valve that was installed correctly that would prevent my heater from working. They fixed it two days later. I recently had some electrical work done at my house and I used a new electrician for it. He took one look at my ac breaker and told me it’s a miracle my house hasn’t burned down. The breaker is oversized for the wire. Meaning if something in my ac unit shorted out it would catch on fire because the breaker would not flip. I’ve called every day now to talk to the manager about this and his secretary’s assure me they’ve sent him emails to call me back. I haven’t heard a thing from him. I’m about to give this company up. This is a terrible experience

Ive had furnace and ac replaced from them. No complaints at all. I have requested a quote to replace my hot water heater and havent heard back. Ill submit a request again, in case I did it wrong. UPDATE..I will not use this company again. No respect for existing customer having spent thousands of dollars with them. I wanted an estimate to replace my aging hot water heater and they wanted to set up a non refundable appointment. I know Im not a prime customer like I used to be but Ill be searching for a company that wants my business, my money and most important, respect. Good company gone bad? I really dont know.

Had these guys come out and do an inspection for me about a month an a half ago. They where really nice during the inspection... and then when there was an issue after the Inspection.. they where really nice handling that.. but then when there was a miscommunication error on their part on a charge that was made.. i was promised a reimbursement.. but nothing ever came or no communication what so ever as to when i would see the return.. I have called their office countless times with promises to be called back.. but never heard from anyone.. basically they have blown me off.. so beware.. when it comes to money issues.. they may screw you as well

Had to have a toilet rebuild done. The plumber Ron did a phenomenal job and was extremely polite. They had to come back because the parts were special order, but I didnt mind because of the great customer service and how pleasant he was. Great customer service really goes a long way with me. Respect, communication, honesty and great work creates loyal customers. I purchased a new AC from them last year as well. It was a great price and working well! I would recommend Michael and son

I called to get my heat repaired and I was having issues with my circuit breaker constantly tripping. Leon, Matt and Ryan were great! They were friendly, knowledgeable and thorough.-Matt was my HVAC technician. He fixed my furnace in a matter of ten to fifteen minutes! Which was amazing after not having heat last winter because another company red taped it saying I needed a new furnace which was not the case at all.-Leon was my electrician. He quickly found my circuit breaker needed to be upgraded because it was too small for the house. He also found my switches and outlets were originally put in with a cut corner method of back poking. He taught me about why that could be hazardous and I had them all redone to have it done correctly. Leon and Ryan had the whole house done in a day! Thank God I did, with a baby girl on the way I wanted a safe home. He pulled two switches that were melted from arching trying to make a connection, which could have started a fire.Thank you all, I am very happy with everything you have done. No issues since! I will call Michael and sons when I plan on getting some plumbing issues fixed.

If I could leave a negative star, I would. I contacted Michael and Son Services to inquire about their capacity to clean our clogged dryer vent. They insisted they could. The first technician that arrived looked like a deer-in-the-headlights and was in over his head. He contacted his supervisor who stated that another technician would arrive the next day. The second technician was more qualified and made his best effort to get the job done, but didnt have the correct tool and when he went to purchase the tool, ended up breaking the piece off in our dryer vent line, which is about 22 long. The third technician came, retrieved the piece broken off, used a camera to identify the clog, but then stated there was nothing else he could do. At no point did the supervisor speak to us and after the third technician left we never heard another word. While we were not charged-that was a basic expectation, the fact that they obviously agreed to take a job outside their scope of expertise and never communicated was very unprofessional.

Had an appointment set for Saturday from 2-6 pm. When I made it I felt that a four hour window is kind of crazy, but they had a decent reputation so I went with it. Wife and I waited around until 545 on a gorgeous day just to get a call from the office lady saying the technician had a vehicle breakdown so no one would be coming, but hed be in the area Sunday from 10-2. Seems to me Id have a set time the next day if Im getting bumped on my actual appointment. Would not recommend this company.

After having them come out 3 separate times to fix our grease trap, and us spending over $1,000 dollars, the grease trap they claimed to have fixed is still over flowing spewing grease all over our lobby. I will never use this company again. The technician was nice, though.

Michael and Son damaged my home and simply walked away leaving me to have to spend thousands of dollars to fix the problems. They are now trying to claim that there was a preexisting condition that caused the problem. The systems is four years old and I lived in the home for the first two years with no problems. Not to mention that they inspected the system and gave it a good bill of health prior to the work.The problem is that they recommended this install and it turned out to be a mistake. Instead of doing what their mission statement declares of standing behind their work when it hit the dan, they simply walked away. Be very careful using this company and please, please, please do your research. Michael and Sons employees work on commission so they will sell you things that may not be in your best interest and when it goes south they will walk away and leave you holding the bag.

Schedule to get a complete AC installation and was told that they do not do duct work between May and July that makes zero sense since the hottest part of the year is in August will never do business with them.. not to mention that they gave me a five hour window to sit around and wait for an appointment and called within 45 minutes of their ending time terrible service and I quote were not the business for you is what they told us

Purchased Michael and Sons HVAC maintenance program with the understanding that I was covered 24 hours a day for air conditioning problems. Called them at 8:30 pm because my air conditioning stopped working. No one contacted the dispatcher. Called them again at 12:30 am only to be told that I would be charged $169.00 an our for an emergency after hour technician to come out to look at my air conditioner. Definitely WILL NOT renew my contract with Michael and Sons and will not use them for any other service they offer😤

Poor service. Scheduled a service but technician did not even leave a message when he called. He was asked why and his response is he dont leave a message on the phone at all. Maybe this is the reason why this company got a 1.8 score for review. Need some improvement in customer service...big time.

Call Cassidy’s Plumbing instead - what the plumber from Michael and sons could not do, Cassidy’s did in less than half an hour.The problem? Simple clog.The plumber from Michael and son’s tried telling my wife it would be $750 to clear the clog & $300 to SET THE TOILET - then said he couldn’t clear the clog and they’d have to dig up the whole line (after sticking a camera down the pipe but not seeing any problems). The plumber seemed very green and did nothing I didn’t do with my own snake.When I came home I remembered that we had the dominion plumbing insurance - we contacted the insurance provider, they sent cassidys out the next day who arrived on time and were in and out in less than 30 mins with what looked like less fancy tools than Michael and Sons. I will gladly recommend and use them in the future with or without any warranty.Michael and sons just wants to charge you to pay for their radio commercials and repurposed colonoscopy cameras.

I had an appointment for preventative maintenance on my AC unit. Shortly before the scheduled time of the appointment, the technician called up to inform me that hed run out of gas and wouldnt be able to keep the appointment. When the office called me to reschedule, they were unable to offer me something for another two weeks. Life is too short to deal with a company like this.

Wednesday, 7-12-17Michael & Son, what a horrible company! They came to fix the coils on Thursday in our AC unit, charged $500, broke our unit, 7 days later no AC yet, only spoke to a manager once. No answer from anyone. Its 90 degrees in our home.Sunday, 7-9-17Update on the review below: still waiting on a resolution. Still have not been able to talk to a manager. Another technician came yesterday and said he thinks the compressor is not working. All we wanted was for our AC to be more efficient downstairs and its been now 3 days without AC at all. So far, this company does not live by what they claim to represent on their answering message service. Very disappointing and frustrating. A lawyer may be needed on this one.Friday, 7-6-17This company charged us $500 yesterday to make our home cooler downstairs. Last night our AC was blowing hot air and today the unit is not working at all. After multiple attempts to get someone to come and fix it, no one has come by, they promised the technician will come this evening and no one showed up, not even a phone call. Its 90 degrees in our home. Will update this review upon hearing from them.

We had a new AC unit installed after it was installed an electrician was supposed to contact us regarding work to be done the following week. A week went by and we ended up calling. They sent the first electrican out to our house to tell us they didnt know what they were there for and what work needed to be done. Then no contact from the company again about someone coming to do the work. So I called again and I stated I wouldnt be able to be home till after 430. The rep stated that would be fine. The second electrican called and gave every excuse why he couldnt wait and that he didnt work past 5, so I let him know I would try to get home as soon as I could. He didnt wait and I saw him leaving at 435. I called back to M and S and by then was frustrated as we are in the process of moving and this work needed to be completed. Finally the third electrician Louis came and was very helpful and completed the work finally after two weeks of install. Next an inspection was to be done. Again no contact from the company that should be updated us on what the next step was to be. Finally got with Brenda that got the appointment together for us and the work was finally complete.I might as well worked for M and S since their communication was horrible.We have never had issues before with general services or checkups, but this experience has been the worst and I would not recommend them for any work being done at your residence.I had asked for refund on some of the very poor service and stress it caused. I was offered a credit for other work done and I clearly stated we were moving out of state and that would not be sufficient for our needs.No one should have to settle for poor service once they have your money.I would have given no stars, but the intial install was not a problem.

This company is going to do nothing more than take you for every cent you got!! I have a company coming in to do nearly the exact same work for less than half the price that Michael & Sons took me for. These crooks made no mention of the the fact that I could make a claim with my home owners insurance and not pay out of pocket. Instead they pushed their overly proceed credit card to serve their interest. This company has absolutely no interest in taking care of your problem they only care about making money and as much of it as they can to hire over priced actors to advertise for them. Not only did they overcharge me but they also made me burn 8 hours of vacation time without calling me to let me know that the city wasnt going to come out to inspect the work done at my home.

I went under home advisory to look for an honest company to give me an estimate on a Geothermal system and it showed up as Micheal and Sons.After reading and looking at there review score,damn id be crazy to spend between 20000-25000 and they do shity work.Im in a HVAC system now that isnt even 6 years of age...paid 8000.00 and it came with a 10 year warranty but because the crooks at Herbert Senn and company didnt register it after the install I got screwed.The HVAC system is total junk and Im now having to spendthousands more because of bad ass business!!! Micheal and Sons, it looks like your in the same category as Herbert Senn and Company according to your 1.8 review score.Sorry but Im looking for honest business not another SCREWING!!! Home advisory needs to be reviewed aswell for recommending such a company with a review score as this!!

If I could give Michel and Sons a 0.5 or less I would. This is the most unprofessional company I have had the misfortune of working with. They never registered the multi-thousand dollar unit that was installed into our house and paid upfront for. This means that the parts and labor were supposed to be covered for 10 years, but instead, we have to show them proof of purchase EVERY time they come out here, and 9 out of 10 times they claim that the part in question is not covered. We are 8 years into this contract and continue to have issues every single time we call them, including, but certainly not limited to: not being able to keep track of our records and contract, not being able to fix the part on the scheduled day, not returning phone calls after being given several different peoples words that we would hear back, calling for 2 months with no promises coming to fruition, not calling to follow up on their work, not calling to let us know that they will not make the scheduled appointment, and our 2 young babies dealing with a 95 degree household for months on end. These people are less than professional and every service member seems to be on a different page when it comes to having a policy. We are so fed up with dealing with their lies and excuses that we are currently looking to have our contract switched to a different company. If we had to use one word for this company: Disappointing. Disappointment in every way, shape, and form possible when thinking about expectations from any company. I am not usually this harsh with my reviews, but Michael and Sons continuously provides the worst service I have ever experienced.

I had an appointment from 2 to 6 I later found out this was an automated call around 4pmI Finally I called the company they told me he had till 6 to come to my home. The technique called me ,at 6:30 to say he was 45 minutes away ,then ask me if I had parking for him to park ,this is messed up I told him to his face youre making excuses . I told him park in my parking .It is 6:49 p.m. and God knows I have to wait till 7:30 I wouldnt recommend this to anyone. Michael & Sons must be a franchise and individually owned this is poor service

Had to have my A.C. lookes at because it is only June and I am melting in my home. Vinny informed me and showed that the cost to repair my unit would be more than the units worth. He also went over all my options with me and when I informed him of my situation he helped me find the best option to fit my budget. They provide a same as cash financing program so it all worked out and they provided me a window unit to use until they can come install my new unit in two days. (Pretty good turn around.) Ask for Vinny for A.C. and Grant for plumbing. They helped me and were both knowledgeable, understanding, and professional.
