Manny, Andrea, and the rest of the staff at F & H know my taste, offer a diverse and plentiful selection, always guide me in the right direction, deliver an excellent product, and serve their customers in a delightful manner. Cost aligns with the quality of the product delivered, and insurance processing is quick and easy. Its also kind of cool that Manny can share the history of this guild optician business. Dr. Sobel rocks; a great set of people to entrust with my eyes.

Although I wasnt a returning customer,* the staff at Fritz & Hawley fixed my eyeglasses on their first try. They were welcoming, efficient, competent, and knowledgeable. Holy Cow! What a wonderful experience! If I could give a higher amount of stars, I would! This office is 100 star service! This was the most positive medical experience Ive ever had, hands down.Im new to the area and I found their service to be accommodating and relaxed while simultaneously being timely and precise. I felt like they actually wanted to be there helping clients, a refreshing feel for something that can be so cold and clinical.Dr. Sobel made sure I understood what we were doing and why, which I really appreciated. He made sure I knew that I could take my time and did not rush me at all, not even a little bit.Manny is a natural-born master of ceremonies and places his customers experience above all else. He keeps this business running smoothly along with the help of his cheery assistant (Im so sorry, I cant recall your name).Above all else: I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW! hahahahaha I picked up my glasses today and can see all the beauty the world has to offer with a crispness I havent had since my youth!The experience with everyone was warm and inviting. I went there for the first time last year and had a wonderful time. The optometrist is great and very efficient. I love that he is willing to explain the why/how behind his decisions/tasks in terms I can understand. Also, Manny was very nice and agreeable! Overall, great place I am happy to return to. (I also got the coolest frames I have ever owned)

The staffs are very pleasant. Ive been coming here for years and always pleased with the service. They have so many beautiful frames to choose from. The optician and optometrist are very professional and easy going. They remember you all the time. Im not going anywhere else.

Wow, Ive been to other optical shops before but nothing compares to this place. The service here is top notch. The Doc really took the time to educate me during my eye exam, and the optician that helped me pick out glasses really knew his stuff. This was the best eye visit I have ever had. From start to finish the customer service was top notch. Dr. Sobel was smart and clearly loves being an Optometrist even after 36 years of being in the eye field.

I had the most amazing experience with Manny. I was probably the most difficult customer he has ever had as this was my first pair of glasses and I had specific expectation for them. Each time I wanted to try something different the response was that we will keep going until it’s perfect. The 3rd time was a charm. Perfect. Because of my upcoming surgery Manny offered to drop off the new glasses at my home if they were not finished by then. This whole amazing experience going on in the middle of Covid. Thank you Manny for the amazing customer service experience. The selection and variety were extensive. The shop was very clean and Covid precautions were flawless. I will recommend you to everyone I can.

Its been years where I couldnt read the computer screen without clip-ons worn on top of my glasses. Thats a problem since 90% of my job is reading a computer screen. Ive been to four different specialists/opticians over the years. This time was different.They took more time with me than Ive ever experienced. This was not the 15 minute rushed exam. This was also the first time I felt as if I was part of the process versus dictated to. So different and refreshing!I was promised I wouldnt need clip-ons any more. Id heard that before. I was nervous to get my hopes up. I had butterflies in my stomach this morning when I picked up my glasses. I am sitting here now, typing and reading on my computer, WITHOUT clip-ons! FINALLY someone who could help me!Thank you so much to Fritz & Hawley!

What a terrific place from aesthetics to service! Dr.Sobel was patient, pleasant and precise. Manny was easy to get a long with and gave an informative no pressure approach to help me select my glasses. The name of this practice has history to Hamden and should not be overlooked when looking for an eye exam or glasses. They are wonderful and very affordable!!

Fritz & Hawley was awesome! The eye exam was comprehensive and reasonably priced. I got both contact fitting and new glasses. It was both the most thorough and fast experience Ive ever had and I have been wearing glasses/contacts for roughly 30 years. I require a strong prescription and have astigmatism. I have *never* gotten my contacts or glasses in faster than 2 weeks but at Fritz & Hawley it took ONE DAY for both. Also, they have a ton of really nice, stylish frames to choose one and you are not rushed to pick. It really is a great place. I will never go anywhere else for my eye doctor/contacts/glasses needs. I highly recommend it!(Also, FWIW, my contacts were cheaper at Fritz & Hawley than they would have been through 1800Contacts, which has also never happened before.)

I have been a Fritz & Hawley customer for more years than I care to admit ( old lady). I have always been extremely happy with my eyewear purchases. Recently, Russ retired and sold to Emmanuel (Manny) Colon. Manny has injected some new innovations and cool style. He knows his business and exudes patience and care with each client. I cant give him and the shop enough praise or stars.

I have been going to Fritz and Hawley for the past 10 years the original owners were very nice then they sold it to Manny and at first I thought things were going to be like those big eye glass stores but I couldnt have been more wrong. I am the biggest pain in the but bring in my glasses at least once a month to have them a justed. The new owner Manny is a very patient ,fair and understanding person I have ever met.if. I could I would give FRITZ AND HAWLEY 10 STARSThey also have a great eye Dr there .you wont be disappointed try something new youll love it.

Top notchIt had been over 5 years since I had an eye exam and new glasses were way overdue. My mother also needed new glasses since hers had broken. The earliest appt I could get with the doctor was 3 weeks out, but I was able to schedule an appt for my mother a few days out since her prescription was recent and she only needed new glasses. On the morning of my mom’s appt the office called me to tell me that they had an opening that same day for an eye exam if I was interested. My mom’s appt was originally at 1, they had an opening available for me at 2. The receptionist suggested that we both come at 2 and I could be seen by the doctor while the optician worked with my mom. I was ecstatic, and once we showed up the efficiency and professionalism continued. Clean, airy office with strict CoVID-19 precautions. Nice selection of frames across the price spectrum. I won’t go into much detail other than to say that the whole experience was very pleasant. Manny (owner and licensed optician), Dr. Sobel and the receptionist (apologize for not remembering her name) are an incredible team. Friendly, kind, meticulous, experienced and professional. First-class all the way.

I went to Fritz and Hawley to get new glasses, but was nervous about the cost. It’s hard to find glasses that are affordable and stylish. Manny broke down the price with me, line by line, going through which features would be most helpful (ultra thin lenses, anti-reflective coating, etc) and which I did not need. I ended up with a pair of glasses that I love for a reasonable price. AND they were ready the very next day. Awesome service and quality.

Honestly, the doctor is hilarious he has a great sense of humor. He gives you educational information while doing the eye exam but in a funny way that made it very enjoyable. The other guy makes the glasses on site and is very kind and nice. I had a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this place!!!

My husband and I have been coming here for a few years now and we cant be happier. Manny has really spruced up the place to a much needed modern and inviting look. He is very kind and willing to go that extra mile for us. Dr. Sobel takes his time with the eye exam, explaining everything he is about to do, and more importantly, why hes doing it. We always feel welcomed and comfortable in the store. When my husband accidentally lost his glasses, he called Manny, who, right away, put an order in for replacement lenses and had them at the shop post haste, ready for my husband to pick out new frames and get him back up and running within days. We felt like we were his only client. The customer service is superb. Highly recommended for all your eyewear needs.

I dropped in to see what the frames were like and Im seriously glad I did. The store has been updated drastically, its much cleaner, the displays are nicer, and the manager/owner is incredibly knowledgeable. I love all the frames I tried on, they also carry a good array of safety glasses and sunglasses. I cant wait to get my new frames there, incredibly happy I found them.

This place makes me want to have my eyes checked more than just once a year. I came here after trying to make an appointment with a nearby, larger, eye place, whose soonest opening was three weeks out. When I called Fritz & Hawley they got me in within just a few days.

Visited Fritz & Hayley for the first time after finding out they accepted my insurance & I’m glad that I did! Great selection of frames and in anyone’s budget. The doctor was very thorough and personable and the office manager/optician helped me find the perfect frames within to suit my needs! I received my glasses back the following business day. I’m a social worker and asked for cards to give to my clients who have Husky or Medicare because there are over 100 frames to choose from for those individuals. Will be back next year for another eye exam and will also add a contact exam!

Im very picky when going to a new place. Specially since I had not been to an eye doctor in 10+years. ( I know I’m bad). To my surprise place was really nice. Staff was amazing. Have a good variety of glasses. Manny was great he was very honest with helping me choose a pair of glasses. He made sure I got a pair that would suit my budget and personality. Explained everything about my insurance and I was able to sense he was very honest and not trying to make a comission from me. Provided me with space when looking at glasses. Cant wait for my family to start going.So yes I recommend this place. Yes should go and give it a try. And yes most insurances are covered. Convenient location oh and let me say there is parking.

Ive gone to F&H for two exams and subsequently two new pairs of glasses (one clear, one shades -- both RX). Dr Sobel is excellent, funny, professional, and comforting. I always am very relaxed. Emmanuel is great too. Hes made some great changes inhouse. Last year service vs this year service was quite different. I received a reminder call of my upcoming appt, my glasses came within a week, and i got a call that they were ready! I didnt get that last year. I even got a little cleaner spray bottle with my new shades. Very awesome service start to finish. I cant wait for my next exam. Highly recommended!

They have a great selection of glasses ranges from covered by your insurance to affordable and high-ends. Manny is super patient as he walks you through to get an idea of the prices and you dont feel pushed at all. Received a call within one business day as I was told to pick up glasses and guess what?? Im super happy they look and fit perfect! just the right prescription I was looking for.FYI: They do take new patients and no referral needed also they do take Medicaid.Overall, I couldnt ask for a better place to get the best eye treatment. Unbelievable! I have been wearing glasses for almost 20 years, and could not get contacts to work until Fritz and Hawley. I tried contacts once a few years ago with another doctors office, and was very frustrated. The people at that office didnt understand why it was so hard for me, and were annoyed when I came back a second time to try again. I gave up.I later had an insurance change and needed a new eye doctor. I went to Fritz and Hawley for an annual exam. I had the most thorough eye exam Ive ever had. It is clear to me that Dr. Sobel makes it his mission to get the best prescription possible for patients. I liked my visit so much I thought, maybe Ill try contacts again. Dr. Sobel and Manny, the optician, were incredibly patient with me. Dr. Sobel spent a lot of time getting them in my eyes for me first because he wanted me to see what it would be like if I put in the effort to learning to wear them. My previous eye doctor did not even offer to do that.It sounds silly but this was a huge challenge for me. Dr. Sobel and Manny both wanted me to succeed and knew that I could. I spent almost two hours in the office, but I got the contacts in and out on my own the same day. I still had a hard time getting used to them. I even called Manny once because I was so frustrated with myself, but he assured me practice and patience would pay off. It did! Throughout the process Dr. Sobel and Manny were supportive and helpful. They said I could come to the office just to work on getting them in if I wanted to, and even now that Ive passed I can come back any time with questions, free of charge.This store also has a very nice, wide selection of frames. I have state insurance, which has decent coverage, but I can only get medicaid approved frames fully covered. The optician offered me $100 off any frame that was not medicaid approved - I thought that was very nice.I am so happy and will recommend this office to anyone looking for glasses or an eye doctor!

Dr. Sobel is the best. Ive been a patient of his when he used to work at Kennedy and Perkins vision center. Great care.

The doctor is ok. But the service was very bad . It took about a month to pick up my glasses. This was a good reason to do something for me to make me happy about them but unfortuntally they charged me more than expected at the pick up time. They more expensive than others. This was the worst experince I have ever had with vision centers. I will never go back.
