I bring my pup waffles a few times a week to burn off energy and get socialization, the staff is always incredibly friendly and answers any questions I have. They give updates on how his day was when I go to get him and what friends he played with. They even saved a baby tooth for me, the staff really cares about the dogs in their care and know what they are doing. I previously worked at a doggy day care where if the dogs were injured or got into tussles that were a little too rough they wouldn’t tell the owners, at the barking lot that is not the case. Waffles and one of his friends played a little too hard which they corrected and he had a little mark on his head, if they hadn’t told me I wouldn’t of even seen it, point being they are incredibly responsible and make sure all the dogs are happy and taken care of and keep the parents abreast to everything big or small ! I can’t recommend them enough and how transparent they are!

We’ve been bringing our pup here for about a month now, and we are very happy with the care they provide during the day. Our boy has a few special needs, and they are attentive to them. He has a great time at daycare, comes home tired and we of course love seeing all the photos!

We have a 7 month old Papi-Poo who is unfortunately a pandemic puppy and hasnt had the chance to socialize with other dogs. The staff of the Barking Lot have been working with us to get him used to dogs and people. The staff have always been kind, respectful, and most importantly, passionate about their work. I highly recommend The Barking Lot for doggy daycare, and am happy to bring our dog to them with the knowledge that he will receive excellent care and attention from the staff.

The barking lot is TRASH!! I left my dog here twice and she got Very Sick. The facility is unsanitized and very bad customer service coming from Megan the Owner. Do Not Leave Your Dog Here whatsoever! I spend $200 twice for Vet fees and she wouldn’t even work with me. She charge me twice for my dogs boarding stay and said i didnt pay the first time when i had payed cash and she could have called me but said she never had my phone number on file. Who leaves their dog at daycare without your personal info? Please don’t leave your dog here !!

Truly a wonderful place to leave your pup!! Our girl boarded for a week and she has been exhausted since she came home. I know she was well cared for and had a wonderful time with all the other pups! We were even able to see her while we were gone because the staff posted beautiful pictures of her throughout the week on Facebook! We will certainly be using these services again!

I used this place for the first time recently because my vet isnt taking boarders. Im so glad I found it! The people are great to deal with, and my dog gets to play with the other little dogs that are there, which he loves! They post pics on Facebook so you can see your dog playing when youre away. The kennels, where the dogs stay at night are all together, so they dont get lonely, but daytime is playtime! During Covid, theyre taking extra precautions to keep everyone safe. Im so glad I found this place, theyll be seeing Brady whenever Im away!

The staff at The Barking Lot is exceptional. The facility is warm and welcoming and it is Phoebe Roses home away from home. Her sleepover was awesome and we are so lucky to have such great people take care of our baby. Thank you!!!!!!

My fur baby Beau is like my child so I’m very particular about who cares for him when I’m away on business. The Barking Lot is the BEST! As soon as we pull in the driveway he gets excited and can’t wait to run in the door. Beau loves playing with the other dogs during daycare hours and then getting a good nights sleep in a place he trusts. They also allow me to bring his food so he sticks to his normal routine when boarding. The staff is always very friendly and I can tell they are truly animal lovers by the way they care for all the dogs that come into the Barking Lot. I highly recommend them for your boarding and daycare needs.

My dog Matilda has been going to daycare and boarding at Barking Lot for 7 plus years. And my puppy Milton has just started daycare. The staff is warm and loving to my dogs and are always happy to see them. The dogs come home happy (and exhausted) and I feel confident that they’re being well taken care of when they are there. Only drawback is the pricing — it’s rather high.

My boyfriend and I started bringing our dog, Sadie, to the Barking Lot almost a year ago and we agree it would be nearly impossible for us to take her anywhere else. Meg, Emma, Lexi and the whole BL team are so wonderful and I trust them completely. Sadie has grown from a little rescue puppy to a big happy, socialized dog who LOVES coming to the Barking Lot everyday. I never have to worry about her because I know she is in the best hands with people who know dogs, love them and treat them as their own.

We left our dog for the first time for the weekend. Plans changed and they accommodated us when we had to mooch up early. They answered all our questions and let us know how he was doing when we called. We had a great experience, it is close to home and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

I could not recommend Barking Lot enough. Very reasonably priced for boarding, considering your dog gets all day play included in the cost. The staff is amazing and my dog is always happy and exhausted when I pick him up. You won’t regret trusting them with your pets.

My dog loves going here, he immediately beelines for the back room. He comes back essentially too exhausted to move, which is perfect and the only way Ive found to use all his energy. I take him in once per week so he can run around all day and play which has successfully kept him from destroying bits of my house. I also board him there while travelling.

Our dog, Shannon, LOVES The Barking Lot. She never looks back when we drop her off and RUNS to be with the other dogs! Whenever we pick her up she seems like she would rather stay there... Emma and the rest of the team have always been incredibly accommodating and flexible--10/10 would recommend!!

I have been bringing my dog, Lilah, to the Barking Lot for over a year now. She goes usually 2 times per week and stays there when I go out of town. I can not even begin to explain how amazing this place is. The staff are friendly and really care about your pet. They know the dogs well and take the time to get familiar with them. Every time we get home my dog is tired for a few days and is well exercised. When I am out of town, or at work, I dont worry one bit about the dog because I know she is in excellent hands. Weve taken our pup, Henrietta, here for over 5 years. We use TBL for both day care and boarding. The staff is caring and compassionate. Our dog gives us her own testimony of how much she likes this place - even after boarding for a week, if we take her back for day care the next day or so, she is still wagging as soon as we drive in the parking lot, she sprints to the door, and races to get back to play with her friends. 5 stars from this dog mom, and 5 tail wags from our pup!

I highly recommend this doggy daycare and boarding. My two German Shepherd puppies have been going to The Barking Lot for socialization and fun, these last 6 months.Recently I boarded them there for three days; I am very satisfied with the great care taken of my dogs. They are kept safe, happy, and engaged. You won’t find better!Update a year and a half later: still coming to daycare regularly and have boarded my dogs many times — two to three weeks while on vacation. I have been bringing my dogs to the Barking Lot for years. Whether its for daycare or boarding, my dogs always become really excited when we turn into the parking lot and will always pull on the leash to go inside. I know they are in the best care, and I can leave them worry free. My dogs are my children and I would never entrust their care and well being with just anyone.

Meg and Emma were amazingly responsive and accommodating in setting up boarding for our dog, Molly. The facility is really nice and Molly seemed to have a much better time at the Barking Lot than other kennels weve taken her to. Something that really stood out is when I dropped Molly off and mentioned that sometimes she refuses food if shes nervous, TBL staff immediately said theyd put broth in her food if that ended up happening. Well definitely be back!

We’ve been going to the TBL since 2013. The owners and staff truly care about all the dogs that attend. We’ve gone on many vacations and have sent our dogs for multiple day care days. You can tell they’ve had nothing but a good time each pick-up. The best part is they are so tired from all the excitement they go straight to bed when we get home. Very much appreciate all the staff does for our fur babies.

We love the Barking Lot. We use it for dog day care 3 times a week and occasional boarding. Our little corgi loves it; the staff knows her by name and we always feel like the care is great.They have the best open area of any dog care in the area.

The Barking Lot is Lucys place to go while we are on vacation. We check their Facebook page everyday on our vacation for Lucys photo! I feel safe leaving Lucy with them. Lucy is not so social dog but she sure loves staffs works there!

The Barking Lot is second to none! I work from home so my pup Koby is used to being home and the center of attention. He is a very nervous dog and is not used to being around other dogs so he has generally shown aggression to other dogs to protect himself. The Barking Lot understands him and knows how to deal with it. They keep him happy and calm and keep the other pups safe by recognizing his mood :). He only stays when we are going away overnight. He is just turning 2 and has stayed The Barking Lot 3 times for multiple nights each time. This last time he had a break through and made friends with other dogs!! Which truly warmed my heart. They are constantly posting pictures on Facebook so I could check in on him through the week (yes I’m obsessed with him lol). I am forever grateful that The Barking Lot and the superior staff exists so we know Koby is safe and happy and we can enjoy our time away!

My babies (Echo and Delta) love the Barking Lot. Most recently they both boarded there while we were on vacation. The minute I mention they are going to school they do laps around the dining room table and are ready to go. They come home tires and happy..a good sign of a good vacation for them too.

This daycare and boarding kennel is truly extraordinary. Ive had many dogs and taken them to many places but THE BARKING LOT in Hamden is heads and tails (LOL) above all others. My dog is very shy and attached to me but he loves going here. Meg, Emma, Lexie and all the staff are just wonderful. I cant recommend TBL enough!

I have a very active young female dog--she is truly a dogs dog and regular socialization at doggie daycare is a must for her sanity and mine :) We have enjoyed regular visits to many different doggie daycare facilities over the last few years. And weve had lots of good experiences however, The Barking Lot really sets themselves apart from other providers with an excellent facility, amazing staff and a superior daycare atmosphere. Ive had nothing but an exceptional experience with bringing my dog to TBL 2-3 times a week for the last six months. Not to mention extended hours and weekend options--and boarding too! Highly recommended.

I am so disappointed in their services. I dropped my dog off for boarding for 2 weeks. He was perfectly fine when I dropped him off, 2 weeks later I picked him up, I noticed my dog develop a sudden limp. At first I thought he was just tired from playing, then he was limping for days and has been licking incessantly. I dont understand why the barking lot didnt notice the sudden limping or just chose to ignore without telling us the truth. I hope they could take on the responsibility and have the decency to inform the owner about any incidents that might have caused the injures.

I have taken my two pups to The Barking Lot for five years now and have always had a great experience with daycare and boarding. The staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. My dogs are always excited to be dropped off and I never ran into any problems. I have no reason to go elsewhere; very happy and grateful for the services they offer. Its such a relief knowing they are in good hands when you leave your family members in their care for either a short or extended amount of time. I wish I could give an even higher rating. I initially brought my dog to The Barking Lot as a matter of convenience as it was on my way to work. Well, I moved and tried another area dog day care that was on the way to work as well. After one day, I decided to add about 40 minutes to my daily commute to bring my dog back to Meg and her amazing staff. First, they are thorough with their evaluations. This is really important! Second, they get to know each dog, its personality, its NAME and always have a story about some silly thing your dog did that day. Third, in addition to getting to know each dogs personality, they also work with them with any behavioral issues that may arise. My dog, for instance, used to be very reactive to dogs that would bark at him, especially the smaller breeds. Hes now socially mature, well-mannered when meeting new dogs and easily falls into a pack (which is amazing to watch when you have friends that have dogs). In short, hes learned how to be a dog. I would highly recommend The Barking Lot to anybody and wish all dog day care establishments held themselves to the same standard.

The Barking Lot has been wonderful for my dog. She is so happy to arrive when we get there and is so sleepy when we get home. It also makes me feel good about boarding her when we have to because she knows the place, is happy there, gets to play all day, and we can see photos of her on their Facebook page. Meg, Emma, and all of the staff have been amazing to us and our dog. Were really grateful for the service they provide.

We had never boarded our 2 year old Bella until this year, when my husband and I had a lot of holiday and business travel and couldn’t take her with us. We kept her at a Petsmart hotel at my home town for Thanksgiving and Bella was too anxious to set foot in a Petsmart again after that. By Christmas, a friend recommended the Barking Lot and Bella LOVED IT. She loves to play with the other dogs and always comes home happy and tired. She has been there a half a dozen times now. Even when we go to a brewery down the street from TBL, Bella gets excited thinking she is going to go play there! We love following their Facebook pictures of her and wouldn’t send our dog anywhere else! I don’t feel guilty dropping her off for boarding and doggy daycare because I know TBL treats her well and she loves it.

Emma, Meg, and TBL Crew are fantastic. I’ve never had a concern about the services they provided; I’ve used boarding and daycare. They took the time to get to know my dog and his needs starting with the orientation. They are easy to communicate with and are flexible.What really sticks out about my experience with TBL is the fact my dog gets so excited to be there. They were even able to pull him out of a funk when his other human was deployed. The online pictures are great too!

I recently boarded Bailey at TBL for 9 days and since she had never been boarded more than 2 days, I was a wreck! But she was as happy and excited when I picked her up as she was the day I dropped her off. Shes been going there since she was 4 months old and LOVES it! I highly recommend TBL and their wonderful staff and cant imagine taking Bailey anywhere else!

Our dog Bailey has a lot of anxiety and does not enjoy being away from us. We have brought her to other doggie hotels, she would refuse to go in which made it really difficult for us to leave her. BUT, when we bring her to Barking Lot, she gets excited in the car, runs into the front door and is happy to leave us. If you say do you want to go see Emma - she gets excited. We know that Bailey is safe and cared for when she is at the Barking Lot and she is meeting a lot of nice friends. We recommend Barking Lot to anyone who asks. :)

I left my dog for the Christmas week in 2014 and just picked him up 2 days ago. I regret the decision of leaving him there so much. He came back bruised and with cuts near his nose and on his legs. I paid extra money to have him in a cage by himself. I dont believe he actually had his own cage. The reason is that he lost significant weight during the week, still the people at The Barking Lot claimed that there was no food left which makes me conclude that he wasnt alone in his cage. A different dog ate his food. There is no way that he ate all the food we left for him and lost so much weight!!. I guess this business is in high demand during the holiday season and The Barking Lot is maximizing their profits. When I left my dog and asked to see the place inside, I was told this is an inconvenient time to visit inside. I have the feeling that it is just so crowded with dogs that they dont want you to see that all cages have at least 2 dogs if not more in each cage. I will never use this place again.

I bring my dog, Clover, here 3 days a week as if its my religion! I cant imagine going anywhere else. Meg, the owner, and her staff are knowledgable and absolute animal lovers. It is the only place I feel comfortable dropping my dog off for daycare and, when needed, boarding. It is the only place my pooch runs from me to get to! She doesnt even look back! The best part is that after a full day, she is in a coma after playing with her friends. I have such a piece of mind knowing that Meg is overseeing the care of my most favorite companion, and I recommend this daycare and boarding facility to anyone who loves their dog.

Our girl Riley stayed at The Barking Lot for 8 nights while we were away on vacation. Weve never boarded a dog EVER and had no idea what to expect. My sister had a dog sitter come by for her dog....but we knew Riley needed people and pups around while we were gone so she would be exercised and occupied. Riley is very attached to us, so I knew she would be shy...but I also know shes curious...so I hoped she would explore and have some fun too. We were able to follow TBL on Facebook and see pics of Riley each day. It put my mind at ease seeing her out and about with everyone. When we came to pick her up she was so excited to see me. She jumped and wiggled and wagged...and then she turned and did the same to the caretaker who had brought her out...and then she circled back to me again. I got the vibe that she really liked that girl. Anyway...Riley had slimmed down a bit....but I would attribute that to her extra activity...and her change in routine. She was healthy, happy and ready for a nap when we got home. Only down side...after a week of water play and puppy slobber...she definitely needed a bath! Lol

My dogs are always excited to go to The Barking Lot! They actually smile! In the pictures The Barking Lot posts throughout the day, you can see how happy each dog is to be there. I first found The Barking Lot when I lived closer to the daycare. Now, I drive 35 minutes. I wouldnt trust anywhere else to care for my dogs.

TBL is our little poochs home away from home! We love it there and so do they! The staff is so loving and kind and my Maltese and Morkipoo (sp.? ha) get so excited the minute we pull up and they see the building. We do both daycare and boarding and I know for sure that my pups are loved at TBL as much as they are at home! Total WIN!!!!

We have used The Barking Lot for our Dachshund for over a year. She often spends the day at the daycare and has also boarded a couple of times. We have been very happy with their service!

We’ve been using TBL for occasional day care and boarding for two years. I know how great it is bc when we are driving there and get within three blocks my dog gets super excited and starts jumping in the car! When I open the door she runs straight to the door and desperately tries to get inside. Any place that makes my dog this happy, is a place I want her to be!

They are so warm and friendly and welcoming, my dog Penny loves it here, it is a home away from home for her and from the Facebook feed she looks to be having a blast in the day care!

I had my dog stay at the Barking Lot for the Christmas Week 2011-12. It has been one year since, and his personality has never been the same. He was a fun, loving and happy dog everyday for three years before his week trip. He must have gone through some trauma during his stay. He is constantly skulking around with his tail between his legs now and constantly sniffing everything. He shakes all the time now. It breaks my heart to see such a happy dog change so much. I paid for him to be watched constantly and have his own room. I regret my decision everyday and wish I had had him in a cage in kennels over this experience.

Ok I guess, we had our 1yr old stay there while on vacation. The place looked OK. Seemed to be understaffed. Hard to find reviews for this place, especially recent ones. When we asked for a tour we had to schedule one even though the place wasnt really that big. When we did the evaluation he was super thirsty when we picked him up. We had to ask for water and he drank the entire bowl! They said they always have water available. The dogs are put to bed around 7pm. I dont think any dogs on earth go to bed at that time. After the vacation we picked him up late. He seemed relieved to get out of that place. For the next week he kept running into his crate, which he rarely uses, when we tried to pet him. Weve owned him his entire life and never witnessed this behavior. There are no cameras for live feeds to check up on your dog. He couldve honestly been locked up the entire time and we wouldve never known... oh and we asked both during the evaluation and pick up if we can take a peak at him playing but were denied both times. They said we would startle the other dogs. Yea.... right

Out of 5 facilities between CT and MA, this is the only one where our previously abused, rescued Walker Coonhound can stay without shutting down emotionally. The staff at BL are patient, accommodating, friendly, attentive to our home-body-dogs who clearly enjoy being with them.

As we all know our pets our or family and we love them as if they are people, and to find someone to take care of them you can trust is not easy. Well I can say with out a doubt my dogs are in the best hands. They are loved and cared for by everyone that works at TBL and my dogs even wait by the front door in the morning eager to get to the TBL. If I have an emergency they are the best reassuring all is good for them to stay and they are loved and taken care of. The pictures on their TBL facebook page speak for itself they are all happy dogs.

I would never send my dogs here, merely because the owner does not care about other people. I suggest if anyone is reading this review you read until the end to see this ex employee’s story. My fiance got fired after calling out at 5am for her shift at 8am. She tried to find coverage, but couldn’t get any. My grandmother was in the hospital dying. My fiancé did nothing, but take care of my grandmother in her free time so wanted to be there when she went. She explained that to the owner Meg, who didn’t care and actually tried to one up her by essentially saying who cares my problems are bigger than yours.. her real response was “ My best friend is on-life support in the hospital and I am here working YOUR shift. You made the choice to not show to work, unfortunately, you will no longer be an employee here.” Needless to say my grandmother did pass and my fiancé was there instead of work, but apparently to this woman her final goodbyes to her grandmother in law weren’t important and honestly that’s just the most cold hearted thing I’ve ever heard. I wouldn’t ever trust my animals with that type of person, and I’d never want to work for that kind of person.

Recently boarded our dog, Dooley, at The Barking Lot. He is a rescue and we were very worried about boarding but Emma was so helpful in calming our nerves and Dooleys. He had a great time at the Barking Lot!

I will never take my dog here again. My boyfriend and I would pick up my pet up on multiple occasions and she would have bites/wounds all over her body from other dogs. It makes me very uncomfortable that all different sized dogs are put in the same room together with all of one or two staff members. This place is extremely unorganized and I would NEVER reccomend it to anyone. I now go to Metro Pooch in North Branford. Its a little bit of a drive but much nicer and more stable. The staff is nicer and it is better quality.

I LOVE MEG AND HER STAFF!!!! my dog absolutely loves going here. I have only used their boarding, but i have only had great experiences. I have been a loyal customer for over 2 years and my dog has stayed may times for a week at a time usually. My dog requires a lot of special care and is always cared for as if she was one of their own. I tried to use Poochie Place once before and had a horrific experience that left me shocked after the amount of amazing care my dog receives at The Barking Lot. We have had issues of a lengthier trip than originally planned one phone call and everything was sorted out effortlessly. I LOVE THAT MY DOG CAN BOARD AND PLAY DURING HER STAY. I think its so cruel to leave an animal locked up for long periods of time with minimal interaction. long story short I wouldnt go anywhere else. ever. keep up the amazing work everyone!!
