Colonial discount funeral did not pay actors that were used to shoot a commercial for their business. We went to shoot the commercial on a very cold day and still have not gotten paid. I would not ever recommend them at all.

First and foremost, trying to plan a funeral for your loved one with literally no knowledge of what to do or where to go, is a lot more than most can handle. However from the first phone call I was put at ease with the professionalism and out right kindness of Mr. Peter Moraski and staff. He had also handled funeral services for my cousins husband so I was somewhat familiar with his work but hadnt met or spoken with him at that time. Peter has been a true God send to my family. Everything was explained in detail and in simple terms so there would be no confusion. There was no hassle, nor hidden agendas. When Peter said we could call at anytime and for virtually anything, he meant it. I am so appreciative and thankful my family chose Colonial Funeral Home for my dear aunts services. Colonial Funerals handled the arrangements for my father. I sent the inquiry on a holiday and I wasnt expecting a response until the following day. In less than an hour Peter Moraski emailed me back offering condolences and inquiring when my schedule would allow me to come in and meet with him. My sister and I met with him the following day and he was kind, gracious and in one word: amazing. He provided guidance and made some phone calls to assist with the arrangements right then and there. When my sister and I left we felt like a giant burden had been lifted off of our shoulders. The care and consideration Colonial Funerals provided during the service for my father was likewise done in excellence. My father looked at peace like he was sleeping. From my first phone call with Colonial Funeral Home Owner/Director Peter I knew I was speaking with someone I could trust to give me honest advice and straight forward pricing.I originally called CFH just to ask about availability and pricing of caskets and urns from his funeral home. I had already found another location I was sure I would end up using and only wanted to reach out to CFH to get a couple questions answered but after speaking with Peter I got the feeling that he really just wanted to help and his only goal was to help me get exactly what I wanted for my mother as easily and fairly as possible.He was so wonderful that when I hit a speed bump with my original funeral home choice I knew exactly who to call to get advice without being pressured or feeling rushed. He was so wonderfully helpful that we ended up switching funeral homes and not only did Peter help me get everything I wanted exactly how I wanted it but also saved me over $2k while living up to every expectation!I would reccomend CFH to ANYONE who is either a first time funeral and burial customer or anyone who wants to get everything their loved one deserves for a fair and honest price. Colonial Funeral Home promotes itself as a home that will provide you a lot lower costs than other funeral homes. While I have no doubt that is true, I dont think that is telling a complete story. My sister and I just laid my mother to rest today and we cant say enough about the quality care and tremendous service we received throughout the entire process from Director Peter Moraski and his staff. My Mom, a New Haven native, had gone to live with my sister in New Jersey, where she passed last week. Peter personally went to NJ last Saturday to transport her back to Hamden. He then met us at 8pm Sunday to go over everything that we had to do to have a service on Thursday. Every recommendation from how to construct the service program to where to have the Re-pass turned out to be the best option. From start to finish, he made us feel at ease. Peter was always available for offer suggestions. Peter was kind and really cared that everything came out as we wanted it, and it was a flawless. We cant thank Peter enough. While his price may be right, its the value that we felt Peter provided that will be most everlasting in our minds. Needless to say, we highly recommend using Peter and the Colonial Funeral Home.

Peter was the only funeral director we met with to preplan for my mothers funeral that did not immediately quote the maximum Medicaid allowed for funerals. He was more concerned with exploring her final wishes and offered a number of options to meet those. My father had died very quickly and unexpectedly from cancer and I was left to make the arrangements for him and was in a bind. After calling many places and asking if they took payments or some kind or arrangement everyone said no and offered me no other options. Upon calling Colonial Fineral Home in Hamden, Ct and asking them the same question Peter who answer the phone and owner was more than helpful and even checked to see if my father qualified for the states assistance which he did and made the process so much easier for me. To me this is the best place around, they are very helpful and caring and not just out to make a buck off you when your loved one passes like the other places.
