I’ve been to the Center for dentistry at Hackensack University Medical Center a couple of times now, yesterday was my most recent visit. I love my dentist he’s literally amazing, he’s nice, he’s relatable, definitely a caring doctor, you can tell that this really is his passion and he really is here to help his patience and whatever way he can. My doctor is Rey Pella. He just recently told me yesterday that he won’t be seeing me for my next six month check up/cleaning I asked him why and he said that he was graduating… That’s when I realize that the this was part of dentistry school lol it made a lot of sense actually with all the rooms and doctors at this location.I have been to the other location down a block on second street I like that location just a litttttle bit more simply because it actually looks like a doctors office and has a whole waiting area right in front of the receptionist rather than the one inside of the hospital at 360 Prospect Ave. where the receptionist cubicle/window is in the hallway of the hospital and the waiting room is a little bit out of the way compared to normal doctors offices. It’s not much of an inconvenience as it is just a bit odd lol. Other than that the staff is very friendly I’ve never had an issue with anyone and I’ve seen a couple of doctors/I guess students and they’ve all been super nice I have no complaints about that. Only issue I would complain about is the receptionist should have more help at the front Desk clearly there was too many people checking in and checking out at the same time and there was a bit of a line and that’s inconvenient for the fact that we were all discombobulated in the hallway. Definitely a hassle being that it’s a hotspot hallway and it’s right next to the parking garage so people come and go and pass by you a lot. Other than that this place is literally amazing definitely recommend!!

The first time I went to the dental center at HUMC I was hopeless and in a lot of pain. The hospitality that Dr. Rahim showed helped me come to my senses. I had a lot of cavities and wisdom teeth to extract. In just three appointments he was able to help me regain my smile and finally be able to eat! Although many people are afraid of getting their teeth extracted ( me being one of them) Dr. Rahim was extremely gentle and his awesome personality made the experience bearable. He is an amazing doctor and I am going to miss him!

DO NO GO HERE!!! (Unless you want to pay a lawyer and court fees following your appointment!) I wish I could give this dentist 0 stars!!! I came in to get my cavities filled and the dentist only managed to do the most terrible job with the fillings. She did my lower right side and made the fillings too tall and too deep and now I cant bite on both sides evenly. I also still have some pain in the area where she drilled my molars when I have hot or cold water in my mouth! I would highly NOT recommend this dentist for the low level of professionalism in her work and I would gladly post a video of any sort of disdain I receive for posting my honest review of this business.

Do yourself a BIG favor: run as far and fast as possible AWAY from them or youll be VERY sorry. I went there for their self-pay rates because I have no insurance. Without giving me any sort of estimate, I was billed and paid $300 for a tissue biopsy. About 2 weeks later, I received a separate bill from the hospital for almost $800! The clinic submitted a bill on behalf of the hospital to my medical insurance without my knowledge or authorization. Im now facing the classic run around scenerio. The hospital claims the bill was generated by the clinic. The clinic points the finger right back at the hospital. Completely unethical. I terminated my treatment with them, retrieved my records and xrays and filed complaints against the clinic, hospital and doctor with the NJ Attorney Generals Office.

The doctors are young and vibrant. The one thing I do not like is that the centers don’t look as clean as they should. Needs new paint and the floors are dirty. The dental equipment looks clean but the aesthetics of both places needs an update. It feels dirty - there are scuff marks all over the walls and the floors have a white dust on them - i always wear black booties and they get covered in white dust. Ugh. But i really like my dentist and the work he has done so far.

I have been going to the Dental Center for about 3 years, mostly for cleanings and maintenance. And, in those 3 years, I’ve encountered several different dentists, but none as adept, thorough or concerned as DR. MADELINE PARK. She raised the level and quality of my dental care and went the extra mile to explain things and put me at ease as she worked. After visits with Dr. Park, I am confident that I’ve received top-drawer care which hasn’t always been my experience at the Dental Center. She is highly skilled, professional and approachable as well as attentive and considerate. For consistent excellence in dental care, I highly recommend Dr. Park.

Great experience. Had to come in for an emergency visit. Friendly receptionists at the front desk. They took me in the time they had available. I get severe anxiety when it comes to dentist visits. But the doctor and assistants were very professional, kind and on top of things. Made me feel comfortable and kept making sure I was okay. Thank you ladies so so much. So glad I chose to come here

All of a sudden, a molar that I had a root canal on started hurting me so bad I couldnt stand it. I have medicaid and called every dentist around but couldnt be seen for MONTHS. I came across the Center for Dentistry at HUMC and walked in as an emergency patient. I was seen right away and walked out an hour later. The resident was extremely thorough and tried to do everything he could to save my tooth, but I opted to just have it extracted. I felt nothing. He accommodated my extreme anxiety and was so patient and understanding. Also, the attending was very informative and empathetic. I cant believe I never knew that HUMC had a dental clinic. I would have went there a long time ago. I will now be a permanent patient moving forward. I cant thank them enough!

Ive found this to be a great place. All the student dentists have a residency at Hackensack Medical. That tells you something. Its worth going whether there.

Very very disappointed. The hospital is one of the best but the dentistry is awful.First off, we came on time to our appointment only to find that our appointment is the following week. I was sure I confirmed the date and time on the phone. Oh well, so we came back the week after.Once again we arrived on time at 1 pm. And was told the clinic is closed until 1:30 pm because everyone was at a lunch function. So we waited til people started to slowly come back from their lunch party. There was only 1 lady at the desk checking people in. And when she asked about our insurance info, I told her that I was told they did not take insurance. She said that was not true, so we filled out the paper work then. And at that time, we have had been there for 55 minute. The poor lady was on her own while her colleagues were still at the lunch party. Everyone else was seen except us. So we waited another 5 minutes before we were seen. This is bad and we don’t appreciate the lack of consideration to the patients. The hospital is not like that but the dentistry clinic showed no respect to patients time. It’s a shame.

Dr. Shee/Shih is a wonderful dentist. He really knew what he is doing. So far I can say he is one of the best dentist in HUMC. Sad to say he is no longer there. Tanya the dental hygienist or the one who is assisting him is also great. She is well prepared. I just hope the dentist who is taking care of me these days are as great as Dr Shih/Shee and Tanya😊

Please stay away. I do not know if this clinic is representative of the entire Hackensack University Medical Center organization, but I would caution people to avoid it. I will certainly avoid it and HUMC as well.To begin, the premises are filthy, the apparatus (as well as the procedures) are 19th century (i.e.: no rinse/spit bowl, no running water, no pre-treatment water/Listerine rinse. I also had to request suctioning of my own blood/waste before drowning in it, as the dentist was oblivious.)Luckily, I tried this clinic for a simple cleaning only - since I was seen by the most inept dentist Ive ever encountered. With not an advisor in sight to monitor incompetence, my Dr. Gordon was directed by a dental assistant (Sylvia) who actually had to show him how to turn on instruments (but not before he got toothpaste all over himself and in his hair: he then spent half of the visit looking in the mirror trying to remove it.By the time I left, this so-called dentist had burned my gums and pulled out eyelashes in an attempt to clean my teeth. I also left with teeth no cleaner than when I entered. At his level of incompetence, this man would be better suited as a plumber dealing with toilets than as a dentist dealing with patients. That this clinic is allowed to operate at this level is truly dangerous. Needless to say, I will never be back and will caution others to avoid it as well.

If it wasnt for the head of the Department, I would never have ever gone back. I had an infection that so bad in one of my teeth, that their dentist was going to send me home, with my face swollen, literally to the size of half a football. I have the image to prove it. That said, after they were going to send me home, It wasnt until after the head of the department saw me, that he turned around, grabbed me, brought back to the office, and then proceeded to explain the severity of my infection, and then was able to pull the tooth out. But the fact that they were going to send me home before his interferrence, and not do anything? Its cause for hesitation when considering a dentist. HOWEVER....due to the head of the departments interference and help, I would consider going back there again.

Im disappointed to report: the construction, lack of appropriate signage, pedestrian mazes and confusion, make visiting, what was once a decent place, a horror show. I was late because I got lost. Thanks to the security people I got there. And then waiting an hour, I left.

Also not happy with the level of care at this place. Appointment which was made at one location mysteriously got changed to the other location without notifying me. Never received a call back from the dentist when i had a question about bleeding after my visit. Receptionists are rude and condescending.

If your coming here to get braces I suggest you dont, and look elsewhere. Orthodontist are only here once a month and cancel on you very regularly. Then to schedule an appointment is the biggest hassle due to the lack of dates the orthodontist are here. The orthodontist use no masks while they have your mouth open. I am writing this as I sit here waiting to get seen by someone which has been almost 45 minutes! DO NOT get your braces done here do yourself the favor and pay a little bit more to go elsewhere !!!!! 4 years later my teeth still are not straight

Horrible! I came in because my tooth is killing me and I wanted it pulled. First off I waited three hours to be seen. Then When I was seen Dr.Ro spoke to me like I was a child and told me she didnt have time to do an extraction that I should get a root canal. I explained I had a root canal done years ago, it was a horrible experience and that I have a hole back there anyway, so spare me the time and trouble and just pull it. She continued to not even hear me and kept telling me to reconsider and think about it. Then she starts poking my tooth with her finger for what purpose other that to make it hurt more I dont know, With her condescending attitude she then prescribed me Motrim 800 mg, twelve pills PRN and rescheduled me for the extraction over two weeks away. I will f/u with another review after I have it done. I need it out because I am in so much pain otherwise I would never go back. After the extraction I will again post my experience and hopefully they will redeem themselves.
