So I left 10 star which has terrible customer service and ownership for a change. I decided golds gym because they have a great facility. It is less hard-core than 10 star but the people are friendly, it is much cleaner and better equipment. I am happy there and would definitely recommend it

I have a degree in exercise science, played collegiate sports, and am an avid lifter. However, the environment at Golds in Greer is easily the worst Ive ever been subjected to. Its basically a size-up competition the entire time youre there. Its probably a serviceable gym for those in the market to compete at bodybuilding. But for those looking for functional training or athletic performance, this is not the place. I cancelled and went elsewhere in the first month.

Manager here is super nice and helped me set up my account so I wouldnt be charged after I cancelled (an issue with other Golds locations). Theres a lot of space and the equipment is great quality and clean. Lots of motivated lifters and people in great shape so theres good vibes in the gym. The music could be better and theres too many tvs everywhere, thats the main downside and then a few customers are loud and annoying (seriously whats up with people playing videos on their phone without headphones in public) but generally most people here are quite friendly. It could use more power racks but theres 4 squat racks, a lot of benches and a crossfit area so you rarely have to wait too long for anything. If youre in this area I would definitely recommend this gym. Price is reasonable also.

I am not big on crowds! Im also kind of upset that they charged me $30 after they said they wouldnt because I went one time for 15min and had anxiety about the amount of people there.

Im sure some people love it. To me, theyre missing a few vital pieces of equipment. They could use an hammer strength incline press. They could use a nautilus pullover. The music stinks. The positives are that its clean and the staff is very friendly. The price is okay too. Its the best actual gym in the area, but not perfect.

I had to leave a review because the woman that is there every morning during the week at 5 am is always so friendly and cheerful. I’m embarrassed I never got her name! Only 4 stars due to how crowded the gym gets.

I have tried other gyms that were slightly less money but came back to Golds. Im 51 yo pudgy woman but I love the staff and the quality of the equipment. I also really love the broad mix of clients that use the gym. Every time I visit I feel like I accomplished something and I smiled or spoke to someone. I also pay for the private trainer sessions and work out with Anna Kat once a week. She is amazing. Just the perfect amount of push.

Crowded. They closed the Golds gym close to my house on South Pleasantburg here in Greenville SC and the Cherrydale location as well. So now I have to drive 22 miles one way to go to a decent facility which now has members from the other 2 closed locations and then the Gym closed the swimming pool and hot tub PERMANENTLY! I think I may just invest in another Gym. 🤔

The general manager name Will is the the worst two faces manager i have ever experienced. He will recommend/lie to freeze your account! And they will still take your money without telling the members. I strongly recommend different gym.

Great gym, I have been to many, in many states, over the years, and this is one of the better gyms. New, clean, good equipment (although I would like them to add a couple of new pieces each year, and remove old/seldom used pieces), plus plenty of parking, and convenient location. Very friendly staff and members. Nice locker room, sauna, & bathrooms too.

I love Golds. If they dont have a piece of equipment to work you out, its because it hasnt been invented yet.

Clean, friendly staff, I have yet to have a judgemental jerk. Many small moments of encouragement lots of smiling people just trying to better themselves. No one is intrusive but if you have a question others are willing to help.

Meeting my Mom here for some exercise classes. They have ample parking and the building looks brand new. I’m excited to see how the classes go. I’m also in shock that I drove from Mauldin to Greer to exercise. Hahaha! The classes are awesome, we did the Yoga and the Zumba!

Great front staff, but terribly run facility. All other gyms have opened their showers. Not Golds. Golds is also permanently closing their pool, which is the main reason I joined. Now they have absolutely nothing special to separate their facility from anyone else. Cancelled membership. Terrible corporate decision making!!

My husband joined, then the gym closed for corona. He never ended up going back so after a few months of charges he went in and cancelled his membership.After you cancel, they wait a few weeks and charge you a $49 annual fee which you can’t get out of, and then they charge you one more monthly fee on the 29th day after cancellation.BEWARE BEFORE YOU JOIN!!

While I didnt mind the facility, but if there is ever any chance of you switching gyms, dont expect to cancel your membership with ease. We relocated from Greer SC to Florida and since there is no local gym, we tried to cancel our accounts. My wife spent way too much time trying to get ahold of the right person to get on to a website to cancel that didnt even work. She went back and forth with someone there and when we finally moved, we thought every thing was settled. Well unfortunately Golds Gym memberships are a rash you cant get rid of. We moved and continued to see the charges a month after cancellation. More back and forth and we were assured it was corrected only to find the next month I was still being charged. They wouldnt acknowledge the conversations my wife to address both our accounts, even though they finally fixed and refunded her for the month prior, so I had to play phone/email tag with the Manager to try and get it resolved. He assured me it wouldnt happen again, but I was supposed to eat yet another month of fees (nevermind earlier this year I ate a $500 dollar personal training fee because I cancelled it after 3 months at the front desk but that never got into the system). Well it happened yet again and so I am taking the dispute up with my credit card, this review and the BBB because I shouldnt have this experience with cancelling a service in 2020.

Equipment layout is atrocious. Ive lifted in strip mall gyms that havent felt as cramped as this one and its only compounded by the fact that it was perpetually packed. Any square foot in here thats not taken up with a machine is reserved for some form of fitness class or already in use. To make matters worse, now that the other locations in Greenville are closed (the Pleasantburg location was actually solid), I can only imagine its going to get worse.To top it off, Golds Corporate is notorious for bad billing practices and giving you no way to communicate with them. Question about a vague charge on your account? Good luck getting in contact with an actual human being. Try to have it figured out through your credit card company after youre unable to reach anyone? Slapped with a charge dispute fee. Just signed up and paid your original onboarding fee? Get ready for another charge that comes along with their annual account maintenance fee that has nothing to actually do with the annual renewal of your membership. Ive emailed this gym ([email protected]) 3 times since the closure of my original home gym asking about how to freeze/cancel my account (Ive been working out of state due to COVID) to no avail.There are better gyms (on all accounts) in the area I would highly recommend looking into. Your money is better spent supporting small and/or local businesses that focus on more than the best ways to turn a profit.

They close earlier than planet fitness! There rates are the same with less access!! Also claim it to be cleaning and corporate.. I really liked this gym before but customers are leaving due to special hours at the same monthly rate. I hate to say this but go to planet fitness

It is important to realize that this company is hopeful that you will fail in your fitness goals. Their entire business model depends on it. They sell many more memberships than the facility can support. They provide no value or utility to the majority of their members. Also be aware rhat the 30 day cancellation is not true. 30 days from the join date can be 60 days.

I just moved into the area and came across the gym while driving a few days ago. I was hoping to get a free day pass to try the gym out before signing up. The sales associate took my information and then informed me of the prices. I was told that Golds gym doesnt offer a free trial pass and that if I wanted to try out the gym I would have to sign up... Terrible policy.

Amazing gym. Everyone there is so willing to work with you to make your goals a reality. It is more expensive that some of the other popular gyms around but its totally worth it. Also of you are someone like me that has issues working out alone, they offer membership to be able to attend numerous different classes. Definitely worth it

Great facilities, Personal training staff is fantastic. WHEN YOU CANCEL THE ACCOUNT BECUSE YOU ARE MOVING FOR WORK THEY WILL LIE, RIP YOU OFF AND THEN REPORT YOU TO CREDITORS.Because I was moving for work went in to the Golds and canceled my account agreeing to pay the next month because it was out of my thirty days. I asked that my membership be dropped from the amount I was paying for personal training to a standard access membership and completed my cancellation of service. I did eat the cost of 2-3 personal training sessions but that was fine. I was told No problem and if there was a problem they would call me Mind you I had no contracts all my services were pay in advance month to month. well while moving I I get a bill for well over $300 so I call into the gym, They say they have the message and will call me back. I am trying to figure out why my bill is over $300 because THERE IS NOT A SERVICE THEY OFFER THAT COSTS THAT MUCH ALSO ALL MY BILLING WAS UP TO DATE ON AUTO-DRAFT!!! so I proceed to call them again. Still told they have the message and they will be contacting me shortly. FIVE TIMES I CALLED IN AND LEFT MESSAGES! since they do not want to talk to me I canceled the auto draft payment from my credit card. Now they reported me to debt collectors.Now you want to put me on blast for your crookedness this is going onto any review site I can find as well as your corporate and to the Better Business Bureau.

Fantastic gym, clean, tons of things to get into. A pool with a few lanes and a hot tube. Locker rooms , sauna. The staff is just fantastic. Great products inside. Really good pricings for all the stuff you get to choose from. Nice parking area. Just wish it was 24 hours.

Amazingly clean facility! Gyms can get nasty but I am constantly impressed on its upkeep. If something is broken it gets fixed right away! The best part of the whole experience is the staff! They are very friendly, encouraging and not judgmental. Love my gym!

Nice gym if you don’t have kids. Even before school was out, I encountered the child care being unavailable due to full capacity (8 PM, 11:30 AM, which I thought was off-peak). Three times in a row I drove 20 minutes to workout only to be told child care is full. Just canceled and will spend my $50 somewhere else. Staff did not seem to care. The gym is supposed to be one of our happy places. Make sure your gym makes you happy.

Very nice. Josh is the best personal trainer there! Hes super young and looks even younger, but he knows so much and keeps up with your form and motivates better than any trainer Ive ever had. The facilities are clean and well maintained and everyone is friendly. Much, much nicer than the Cherrydale location.

Golds closed my location in Greenville due to Covid and automatically transferred my membership to Greer. I requested to end my membership as the distance is too great from where I live, I received a confirmation email stating I would be refunded for unused personal training sessions and not charged. I was not refunded and today spent 40mins on the phone with my credit card company because THEY CHARGED me for Greer when I no longer have a membership and have never even been to the Greer location. The unprofessionalism of Golds is pretty sad considering how long theyve been around. Its a shame. I was a member over a year and always paid on time etc. They should be ashamed for making it so hard to stop paying. Ive probably sent them 7 emails before getting a response AND STILL GETTING CHARGED.

It seems to me this gym was incredibly clean when it first opened. Since then, the cleanliness of the facility has drastically declined. The treadmills are absolutely disgusting and covered in sweat and dust.They have very nice employees and are always willing to help. They just need to work on their cleanliness, to keep the upstanding symbol of a Golds Gym.

This an amazing gym. Always clean, plenty of machines, great and friendly staff. This is the best gym in the upstate for sure!

Big clean modern gym. All the equipment and classes you need to get yourself in shape. They even have a pool with a couple lanes to do laps in. I just started with a personal trainer and I love it.

While my corporate gym is still closed I joined on a month to month plan. They have plenty of equipment but it seems no matter when I go its always packed.

I was looking for a new gym to sign up to so I called golds. They told me the pool was still closed because of covid but the price it still the same so I went down the street to anytime fitness and joined there because they are completely back to normal and no mask is required. Did give this place a 5 star at the beginning, but dang should have waited before writing a review. I signed up here back in June, and I enjoyed it very much, decent staff, plenty of equipment at 5AM, however I have a job now that requires a LOT of traveling and I was only able to get to the gym about 1-2 times a month and 40 bucks a month is steep..for me. After calling up there and explaining my situation to a guy(that refused to give me his name) he said sorry but IF you cancel today youll most likely incur some large fee and that you got to come to the gym in person to cancel and pay the fee I again explained to him that I TRAVEL for work which he met with, that sucks. So you know if you want that kind of customer service this is your place. My recommendation would be the 24 hour fitness down the road or if your apartment has a gym. I hate to admit but golds seems to be more about your money than you, oh well.

Top rate gym and up until recently a great pool to swim laps. Unfortunately the water temperature Now hovers around 85-90 which makes it impossible to get a good work out anymore. Nonetheless the gym side and staff are great!

The gym itself is not bad, putting into consideration the equipment which this location is equipped with. The gym is well equipped, it’s a large location. But, the gym definitely has it’s peak hours (like most) going to the gym can get a bit overwhelming as your not able to use the machines you need at certain times, but as long as you set up a routine and figure out the hours in which the gym is less crowded you can definitely get a good workout in and learn to enjoy the gym. My reason for leaving this gym was simply the DayCare. On my last visit with my daughter my workout was interrupted as a daycare worker approached me stating “We have a problem with your child, and you need to come get her” When I questioned what problem they were having with her she simply replied “She is telling us no and won’t pick up her toys” my child said “no” and therefore they decided they needed her gone of day care for the rest of day. My child is 2, no she wasn’t hitting another kid or crying uncontrollably, she simply told a grown adult “no” and they couldn’t and weren’t taking that. Needless to say, I didn’t trust taking her there any more. Again, the gym it’s self can be enjoyable but if your a mother you may have to reconsider. The patience the day care employees “should” have is obviously not there, which is plain sad because it is what they get paid for, what we pay for. My daughters wrongdoing was simply saying “no”. I really hope this helps.

Its good place

The trainers and facilities were nice; however, managment staff are liars and most recently crooks. I had cancer last year and since I couldnt cancel my membership in person I paid for 6+ months of membership when I couldnt come in. I finally was able to cancel in person in the Fall and asked about the personal training sessions I had paid for and hadnt used. After checking, I was told I had 13 sessions remaining. I attended 2 or 3 sessions when I found out I had to have a 3rd surgery. I notified the trainer, however he never responded. Since I had cancelled my membership I wasnt concerned. Fast forward from Nov 2018 to April 2019 and I noticed a draft by Golds Gym from my checking account. I called and asked why they drafted my account and was told that it was to cover my monthly membership. I was truly surprised since my membership had been cancelled for over 6 months. I asked how this could happen and why suddenly was I being charged? I was told that they had been pulling the funds from my personal training sessions I had paid because they had not cancelled my membership, which by the way I have the signed cancellation form. They didnt offer to reinstate my personal training sessions they had siphoned my funds from; however, they said they would put the money back into my checking account. Isnt this STEALING? SHOULDNT THIS BE ILLEGAL? They act like theyve done nothing wrong. If there was a way to give them negative Stars I would! Wonder who pocket this money went into?

Was a great place to workout but started getting more and more crowded. Eventually got to the point of having to wait long periods to use equipment and also had a shower with a broken door for the time i was a member 8 months and is probably still broken. Golds gym here is about getting as many people signed up and making that money, instead of keeping things balanced as far as members and equipment ratios.

The gym is very spacious, clean, and well lit. The staff is friendly and everything is brand new. This is the first gym Ive truly been excited to be a member. They have lots of cool Golds Gym apparel in the front too. Love this place.

Tried to call the gym. I got four options. I pressed every one and the automated voice just kept repeating the options. There was no way for me to contact them. Terrible.

I was disappointed that after being a member for 6 months they still have not resolved the ability to listen to tv stations. Also I felt any complaints I had went unreported. It seemed most of the staff only cared about working their shift and not about the customer. Upon leaving I was informed they required me to pay one more month. While they may or may not mentioned this when I joined, they didnt the week last week when I mentioned about leaving. Also, in order to change plans to a lower one they wanted me to pay 50 more. They seem far more interested in making money than serving the customer. There are other gyms which are far more helpful and less expensive in the area.

Updated again. Moved from 3 to 5 stars. The staff at the front counter are so nice and helpful. Leslie does a heck of a job on the aqua fitness as well. They also finally fixed the showers with shower heads that work. It’s probably one of the best gyms around. I think I’m one of the few distance runners that run outside and finish at the gym, and they always have a towel ready. Top notch!Updated: I felt I should add a star back because of the courteous and first rate front counter staff. They rate very high on making you feel welcome. Always a smile and a hello. They are very willing to help with any concerns.My biggest concern is the Mens bathroom/Showers/Locker, it is a little nasty. Only a few of the showers even have working shower heads and one has a broken handle (mostly fixed as of 1/8). Its been that way for over a month. Locker Room area is filthy and smells. I cant blame Golds for this, because there are so many people that just have no class and dont take care of anything. (typical gym).I like the Pool and Treadmills. I do not use the weights.

Love this gym! A bit pricy but Id say you get what you pay for. Tons of fun classes every day. Great staff. We LOVE Lauren, a manager there. Shes always made sure were taken care of. The kids like the child care center. Nice new equipment, pool, hot tub, and sauna! Only issue I have is the hours. I wish it were 24 hr or atleast open a few hours later on weekends. But all in all wonderful!

I joined this gym about a week ago. So far I am very impressed and very happy that I switched to this gym. They offer a great variety of classes. They have a fantastic team of coaches/trainers. There is wall to wall equipment with plenty of free weights, a pool, sauna, big locker rooms, a kids area, a shop, smoothie bar, and more. I particularly like the GoldFit classes, which are identical to CrossFit.

There is so much room inside. Even though it stays busy, it is never too crowded inside. The staff is friendly and always willing to help!

Best gym in the area. Around 74 a month for 2 people. They have everything one could want. Best of all its spacious, modern and clean.

Even better then the one cherrydale. Bumper plates so no noise of someone puts them down a little hard. Friendly staff that doesnt judge online a few other gyms near the Haywood mall and on Laurens road.

Unfortunately, I stopped by to inquire about canceling my membership since they shut down the cherrydale location. Ill miss the fellow gym rats that used to kick it with me there..

It’s a nice, big, and clean Gold’s Gym. My favorite one in the Greenville area. However, I have been in communication with the manager, Laura D, since October 2018 about a $400+ wrong/over charge on our account with 3 people. We reprocessed some forms. We should have gotten our refund back in November when we did everything but it kept getting pushed back for different excuses. The managers are never at the store when I call and it takes days for the manager to give me a response. We no longer live in Greenville so it has been very difficult to work with them. At the end of December, Laura said the refund has finally been submitted and we should get a check in mail. Now, it has been 25 days. No check. Now the charge has been credited but been charged on someone else on the joint bank account who is not even a member of Gold’s. $400+!!! I called today and found out that one of the people on our gold’s account is STILL active and being charged for membership AND late fees. All of our accounts should have been cancelled since July. This is absolutely ridiculous. It shouldn’t take FOUR months to solve a simple case like this. We are going to contact a lawyer.

I would rate a 5 except for the smoothie bar. I buy 3-5 smoothies a week and have been unable to get what I ordered in over 2 months. They are constantly out of something....1 day its yogurt, then flavors, then straws, then lids, etc. I expect more from Golds! They need to get a handle on their inventory and ordering process.

Three months ago I heard about the opening of Golds Gym and how awesome it was, so of course I had to check it out. Being a resident of Mauldin, SC, I was a little weary of checking out a gym in Greer, because the drive home is about 20-30 min depending on traffic. The day I decided to workout at Golds Gym in Greer, is the day I knew I found a new home. The cleanliness of the facility, the multiple different choices of cardio machines, the new Hoist weight machines, and the huge free weight area, are a few of the great amentities that stood out to me. Three months later, today, I am still as impressed as I was on the first day. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The other members are considerate and motivating. I even picked up a few personal training sessions with one of the trainers named John. With his knowledge in fitness and the muscles of the body, he knew exactly what exercises I needed to do to help me achieve my fitness goals. He motivated me every rep, every day, to give my best, which I did, and it helped me achieve my goals I wanted to achieve. I highly suggest John to anyone who is needing a helping hand, a boost in their fitness regiment, or just simply some tips on how to be better all around. Golds Gym Greer is a gym that will not only make you feel good leaving after working out, but make you want to come back for more. Come try it out!

Terrible!!!! I signed up before they opened and I did not want a contract that I could not break from. I told them I don’t do contracts anymore after bad experience at Bally Total Fitness back in the day. The guy promised me it was month to month. Well I lost my job in December and they told me it was a yearly contract!!! They said only the general manager, who is never there when I am always seems to be on vacation, only he can help me. Is bull that only the GM can break a contract! They are LIARS! Also the machines are not as nice as I expected for a brand new gym. And was cat called when on the treadmill. Not a good environment!!!! Stay away!!!! Planet Fitness only $10 a month I should have went with them! Do not sign anything with these liars!!!!!!!!!!!!
