I’ve had a great experience with Dr Smith and his staff. They always call back and do phone sessions which are great for me because Woodruff Rd is a pain to drive for a 10 min session. Great practice.

One of the better Psychiatric environments that I have encountered. The doctors know their stuff and are professional and friendly. They do a good job keeping their patients well. I have not used the counseling services myself, but from what I know, the counselors are great. They really care and listen and help you work through any issues. I highly recommend these guys for anyone needing psychiatric services. I especially recommend this place for those who are new to dealing with psychiatry. They will talk you through whats going on, what to expect, and they will work closely with you to monitor and improve your treatment and way of life.

I I too am embarrassed to even give 1 star. The only reason Im giving one star is because of Dr. Friddle. But the office staffAndBusiness Is awful stay away!I was extremely sick and they could care less. A bill didnt get paid on time and they dropped me. No care for their patients. I even offered to pay immediately and they refused. I need Dr. Friddle and was bullied on the phone by the office staff multiple times. I was not even allowed to talk to him. They dont return phone calls and is a pathetic uncomfortabilty when dealing with them in the presence. If you cared about your patients you would understand, especially when they are surviving a bad epidemic, some compassion and support. I am very involved in the community n will never forget the way I have been treated. Stay away!

If your doctor refers you here, call before your appointment and ask who you will be seeing. If your appointment is with Dr. Jeffrey Smith, ask for someone else. He is the single worst psychiatrist in the field. He shows no empathy towards his patients, will make no eye contact with you, and will just prescribe meds after asking a couple of questions. Every therapist I’ve seen has heard complaints about this man from their clients as well. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!

MUST READ STAY AWAY. I made this google account just so that I could type this review and hopefully save someone’s money and time. Absolute worst experience at Piedmont. They would call me at 5 in the morning to cancel my appointments the day of by leaving a one second voice recording. I’d make the drive out there and realize my appointment was cancelled, but they wouldn’t think of calling a second time since it is totally unprofessional to call someone at 5am unless it’s a dire emergency. This has happened a total of three times, so it is safe to say I will not be going back. The “professionals” can’t remember your name two seconds after you tell them and call you something else. My first meeting with a psychologist, they asked if someone could sit in and examine. Whatever you’re seeking help for, turn elsewhere. Don’t take my word for it, just go sit in the waiting room and you’ll hear everyone complaining. If the next place you find is bad, that will at least be a step up from Piedmont. I’m embarrassed that I even have to give them one star.

Dr. Smith is a great psychiatrist. The problem is that he cancels appointments much too frequently. I live 60 minutes from the office. In order to be seen, I need a driver and must make arrangements for a first morning appointment. In the 5 months that I’ve been his patient, they have called to cancel it FOUR different times AFTER I’ve left home for my visit saying that he’s called in. If his time is valuable, so is mine. I can’t keep rescheduling only to be cancelled so frequently. I’m finished with this practice.

Dr. Smith has being superb to work with for the last 13 years. Attentive and understanding. Highly recommend. Only short-coming is some of the front office workers have no empathy. Reminder sent to your e-mail requesting that you select Yes button for saying I will be there works backward, if you click yes, they cancel your appointment and dont tell you until your visit, then they tell you its backwards and to not push the button. It is impossible to reach a human being by phone anytime of the day or week.

Weve been seeing the doctors and therapist at this location for over 16 years for my adopted children who have many issues from previous life. Ive never had anyone at the front desk be rude to me, or my kids. Dr.Goodbar, and Julie Stokes have been the ONLY doctor and therapist to stand by my sons, and have went way beyond anything I would of expected to help my sons get help even outside their offices. You couldnt ask for better people! I started seeing Ingrid last year, absolutely one if the nicest, caring people I have met! The only complaints Ive heard from other patients is when they walk in a half hour late, and their appointment has been canceled for no show. Even when people get obnoxious to the ladies at the front counter, they have always kept their cool. I would recommend these folks to anyone needing this kind of help

I have been a patient here for over 20 years. I called to make an appointment and they told that I havent been in for a year so I was considered a new patient and would have to get a referral! We have been attending here for 9 months now and have had an excellent experience with Dr. Goodbar, Ingrid, and Julie. The front desk staff has always been very friendly; you do have to leave a message (or send an email if you prefer) to schedule or reschedule an appointment. But theyve always returned my call within minutes and never given me a hard time about having to reschedule. Insurance filings have never been a problem either.

The Front desk staff is awful. You can’t call and get through to a real person, you can only leave a message and wait weeks to get a call back. I have tried this twice as a new patient and no one calls me back. When I called back after 3 weeks I picked the telephone prompt for physicians office to hopefully get through to an actual person and was put on hold for 15 minutes and I had to hang up. I tried again a few days later and reached a person at the front desk. I told them about my concerns and that if this is how the treat their new patients I will inform my Dr and ask them to refer me else where. The person said to me well I think that’s a good idea. I asked to speak to manager who told me the same thing. They never tried to rectify the situation just told me to go. I wonder if the Drs know how rude and unprofessional their front desk staff is and that they are hurting their business.

HIPPA VIOLATION. My mother has been in ICU for four days due to suspected drug interactions from medicines prescribed by a doctor from this practice. On behalf of my mother whom is now unable to speak for herself, I personally went to the office to retrieve key medical information that I have a right to retrieve as I am listed on her HIPPA form. The office staff REFUSED to give me the information I requested despite my mothers wishes as documented on her HIPPA form and despite knowing how urgent this information was needed. This is a clear violation of my mothers rights and my rights to access her medical records. I feel strongly that the delay has compromised my mothers health to the point where I am unsure if she will survive. It took four days to retrieve the information. This is unacceptable.I learned that at my mothers last visit approximately one month prior, the office staff could not locate a HIPPA form on record for my mother, a patient of several years; Therefore, a new one was filled out. Again, unacceptable.I have also filed a complaint with HHS OCR. I am requesting on behalf of other patients of Piedmont Psychiatric Services that a full audit be conducted for other violations concerning HIPPA.

Dr. Smith dismissed me as a patient at one of the lowest points in my life because I had some concerns about the prescriptions he was writing me and how it would interfere with my other medications. He said that I was playing doctor so he couldn’t see me anymore. If I could give them 0 stars I would. The front desk staff are very rude and unprofessional. The counselor I was seeing just sat and looked at me and always gazed at the clock as if waiting for time to hurry. Never again.

If I could give this place a 0 out of 5 I would. They took a week to sign and return FMLA paperwork that I needed in order to not lose my job. And they only gave it to me then because I came to the office and wouldnt leave until they gave it to me. My last doctor filled this particular form out for me on the spot the same day and didnt charge me anything. Piedmont Psych charged me $45 and all they did was fill out a couple pages and give it back to me.They have a sign in the waiting room discouraging patients from calling after hours (9am-4pm or at all on the weekend) or you will be charged a FEE.Dr Joseph Friddle criticized me for waiting so long to come in even though I told him it was because I couldnt afford to pay my copay. He told me its my own fault that I am strugggling with my mental illness as much as I am right now. He also told me he has a lot of patients who wait until they are borderline suicidal before they come back to see him. I wonder why. This place is a joke.

Paper work is completed withen 72 hours and they tell you that when you sign up best way to contact dr is thdough email who typically responds same day mon - thurs they inform patients of this at sign up phone call 24 to 48 hrs they have always followed them and your both verbally and in writing ibformed of this information jn your signup packet. I was in a bind one time on a friday and needed. A paperwork done for another dr office. To cobfirm mu medications and dr friddle was happy to get it completed for me and sent back to other office who waited till last day to send it. In 45 min. They ley me know it wasnt standard practice but understood that the situation wasnt my fault and happily helped me out. To people who complain about not seeing the dr on their scheduled appointment but then getting mad when they wont phone your prescription in have no right to criticize there arr dhec laws drs have to follow also many meds have side affects and possibly addictive Dr needs to see you regularly to make sure your ok usually people who are always making excuses for not making appointments but asking for refills are drug seeking. Drs are trained to look for that and if your on here complaining of missing and cancelling appointments but wanting controlled substances you probably fit the latter and arent seeking help to treat your mental illness. Until a dr feels your stable you should see him monthly once you are they start spreading outbyour appts ive gone there years nevet had issues and now only have to come in once every 6 months if your not willing to work on your illness and get better it is your fault for not getting better inability to take responsibility for ones own actions in itself is a sign of mental illness take some of these comments with a grain of salt

-Firstly, I like how all of the good reviews are from A Google User. That just adds to the unprofessionalism.-It is impossible to get in contact with them!! So unprofessional. If you leave messages, your calls are never returned. Ever. I was referred by my primary care doctor and said that in every message! After many days and at least 5 messages left, I finally had to bother the referral staff at my primary care to please call them and set up an appointment for me and then call me back with the date and time. I shouldnt have to bother others because they run such a crappy business. No wonder theyre the only psychiatric service that isnt booked for months! They have horrible service!

I did not have a very good experience here. I called ahead and left a messege on the voice mail machine to tell them that I was going to be late, and when I got into the office I told the lady at the front that and she said its okay miss jones we have you in The Dr. will be with you shortly so Im like ok cool I didnt miss my appointment so I go sit down and wait for like 10-15 min for the Doc. To call me back to his office. He walks out sees me calls another patients name and they go in the office, so Im like ok cool she was probably in front of me so a couple of minutes pass and the lady at the front ask me back up so Im like okay this is weird and she says it seems like the doctor marked you as a no show today right after I had marked you present... I was like maam?! And she was like Im sorry you wont be seeing the doctor today. I was like what time do yall close is there no other way? I called ahead? She said no maam there isnt we close at 12 and the docs. Leave at their own discrepancy. He saw me and then marked me absent lol okay
