I have been going to Dr. Kobren for years and I always feel as though I am being cared for by the best in the medical community . He has a way of calming me down when I feel worried about something by his reassuring words . He takes genuine interest in myentire medical profile . My whole family goes to him and we all feel fortunate to have found such an amazing doctor .

I’ve had 2 visits with and each lasted less than a minute (not exaggerating… the doctor walks in and in such a hurry, blurts out a sentence or two and rushes out like he’s in a dramatic movie scene). I was stranded in his office for 3 tests where the first two were completed and was told “you’re next” for the 3rd. 2 hours later I was still waiting while others (all white men) were going in ahead of me. Oddly enough I wasn’t the only person who was “next” who was stranded too. The other person was an African American woman. I politely raised the issue to everyone I got a chance to speak with (Dr Kobern was in too much a hurry like he was allergic to anyone who isn’t of the Arian race)… no one apologized or took responsibility or showed empathy except for the nurse I saw on my 2nd visit. When I added it all up, I concluded none of this was an accident. They probably don’t want patients who aren’t white; I can’t think of any other reason. I would have more respect for them if they just posted a sign that read “whites only”.

Dr. Kobren is an gifted diagnostician. He saved me from a stroke or worse by discovering my severe mitral valve regurgitation on a routine check up. I was completely asymptomatic, but my condition was so extreme, I could have had a stroke instead of being able to have the operation that fixed my valve and heart. Since he is an internist and a cardiologist, he had all the equipment I needed to be able to be tested right in his offices that very day. Dr. Kobren called me at home with the final results of his testing and gave me the names of 2 top NYC thoracic surgeons to decide between. I feel blessed to have Dr. Kobren watching over my health! He is the best of the best.

I have been a patient of Dr.Kobren for over 25 years! He is all anyone could ask for in a physician; empathetic, compassionate, and unquestioned medical knowledge and intellect. In short he is a consummate professional combined with the old time values of a family doctor. I am proud that overtime he has been not only my primary care physician but a man I consider a true and valued friend!

Dr. Steven Kobren is a very well-known and respected heart specialist. He also see general practice patients, so his office is always full. If you need your hand held, hes probably not for you. He is very thorough and misses nothing, but sometimes seems a little rushed (see my comment about the office always being full), so have your questions ready. His staff is exceptionally well-organized and will walk you through tests and procedures with military precision. Excellent care, excellent service. They set the bar pretty high.

Exceptional experience. The doctor is great. Amazing bedside manner, easy to understand and great communicator. Staff is professional, expeditious and very pleasant. Well run office, very very little waiting time. Amazing!

Biggest jerk you’ll ever meet. Stay far away and steer clear of this so called and supposedly doctor. If you get your three minutes of fame with him consider yourself fortunate & your experience with him out of the ordinary. He’s the kind a guy that’s in and out of the room before you know it and even if you’re speaking to him about a very important and serious issue his back is turned to you as he walks out of the exam room while you’re still trying to speak to him regarding your condition. He may listen to you but he doesn’t hear you.and Dr. Coburn is too preoccupied with jumping out and getting on with his next patient instead of listening to your problem and medical issues instead of taking a step back to absorb understand and address your Medical problems at hand. As instructed by Dr. Coburn I called his office in a few days to speak to him about my test results. Over the next 23 weeks I’ve left about eight messages none of them was returned. It was only when I started sending emails to his higher-ups that he had his secretary summons me to the phone and slammed me with his hostilities. Quite interesting health grades about eight months ago there were eight reviews on Dr. Coburn two of them were glowing one was fairly good the other three or four were quite unhappy in this pleased and one was just like whoa disgusted but I did hear a few good things about him and I was convinced let’s give them a try. After my visit I posted a review on health grades that was very polite and professional yet honest and straightforward. Unfortunately it was never posted to your website health grade under reviews. And now May 2018 I see eight reviews seven of them are amazing fabulous terrific stupendous colossal outstanding doctor and one of them was a little bit on that I wasn’t so happy with my visit. What is this pay for play ? If you’re the doctor that always is still main contact us pay us a fee give us advertising revenue will work out you review stuff. I’ve got to be honest I have no belief or trust in any of theintegrity that your website offers and the reviews it contains.I feel that you have sold yourself out and have no integrity - health grades

Almost all of my doctors in the long island area have told me they have Dr Kobren as their cardiologist/internist.That speaks volumes to how well respected Dr Kobren is in the medical community. Also he saved my fathers life by catching something in a routine checkup that a very reputable Manhattan hospital did not find after many medical tests.

I started going to Dr. Steven Kobren about 18 years ago. Although very pleased with my previous physician, the strong recommendations I received for Dr. Kobren ,and the fact that he was also a noted cardiologist, affiliated and teaching at two of the best NY area hospitals, made a strong case for switching. Other members of my family have also become his patients.Since then I couldnt be more satisfied. Never an alarmist, he has not only provided top- notch and thorough medical examinations and treatments for me, but has also taken as much time as needed to carefully explain all of my concerns. On more than one occasion he provided personal consolation and guidance to me and my family. For this I consider him a close confident as well as the best doctor I have ever had.

This was my first and last visit to this doctor. I went for my annual physical and Dr. Kobren, who is also the Medical Director, performed none of the routine checks such as checking my glands, eyes, nose, throat, ears, taking my temperature, tapping on the chest or stomach. Nor did the nurse check my blood pressure or pulse. She asked me if I knew how much I weighed, rather than ask to take my weight and height. I showed him that I had fungus growth on my entire big toe nail and his answer was, everyone has that. I had several health concerns and had to chase him down the hall to try to discuss these with him. However, I was ignored and a clerk stepped in. I had wanted to ask for referrals for additional health problems I am having, but he was not available to advise me. I doubt if he was in the exam room with me for more than 3 minutes. I had planned on seeing other physicians at NYU Langone, but after this experience, I will go elsewhere. The one star rating is required to post, otherwise I would not give him that.

I have been using Dr. Steven Kobren for as long as I can remember and am still amazed how he zeros in on the diagnosis for whatever ails me. He listens to your symptoms and immediately knows what tests to order. His complete knowledge of medicine makes it unnecessary for him to ask a million questions in order to make the proper diagnosis. I recently had a mitral valve repair at N.Y.U Langone which was done by the top Cardiac surgeons in the country thanks to Dr. Kobren. He personally contacted the Surgeons and made sure the procedure was done up to his expectations. I must also commend his staff for following up and making sure everything was done up to his standards, they make me feel so welcome in his office. In this day of insurance dominated medicine we are lucky to have a Dr. like Steven Kobren.

The doctor and most of his staff are exceptional. billing is a big problem. they take your co-pay up front and cash only [no credit card]. then nyu langone billing sends you a bill anyway for the deductible. when you call about it, they have no records, the 877 billing people dont answer and the main office hopes you have a receipt. EVEN THOUGH THEY WONT TREAT YOU WITHOUT PAYING FIRST. poor way to run a business

I called early this morning because I thought my blood pressure was to High....The office told me to come in at 12:15, and Dr. Kobren fit me in the schedule, and did an examination. It doesnt sound like a big deal, but I was ready to go the hospital because I took my blood pressure reading through an at home machine. Low and behold the machine wasnt that accurate, and Dr. Kobren saved the day by seeing me the same instant I called with an alarming blood pressure. Much thanks to Great Neck Medical

Dr. Kobren saved my father’s life. My Dad had just been seen by the head of cardiology, at a well-respected NYC hospital for convenience sake, because he had been frequently visiting a close family member there who was being treated for lung cancer. He thought since he was at the hospital all the time anyway, he should get all his checkups out of the way during his hospital visits.Luckily Dr. Kobren saw him for his regular checkup even though he had recently been seen and given a clean bill of health by these other doctors.My father was feeling great and was annoyed my sisters and I pushed him to see Dr. Kobren anyway.Well, Dr. Kobren did his usual checkup and he said he was not positive but something did not sound right and he wanted to do more testing.It turned out my father had a life threatening enlarged aorta which is an aneurysm to the main artery to the heart. The surgeon Dr. Kobren referred us to said that my father would have died before he hit the ground if he was not operated on ...that week !We will never forget this catch and it speaks volumes about how excellent a diagnostician Dr. Kobren is.Years later my father is still feeling great and going strong!! Needless to say I highly respect and recommend Dr. Kobren.
