Went there for a consultation because our pediatric doctor said they were the only place in GR that could do a herniated belly button surgery. Sat through the brief consultation and then directly went to the billing where they outlined that despite them being loosely tied to spectrum, they aren’t actually a part of spectrum at all, which makes them out of network (BCN of MI). We got a “we are the only pediatric surgeons in Grand Rapids, so you get what you get”. We paid a $75 Co-pay on the spot. Then after deciding to drive to Ann Arbor to go to a pediatric surgeon in network, we got a call a year later saying we owed $255 additional dollars for the initial consultation and they were sending it to collections the following day. We paid it, but dang, these people are con artists. $325 for the 30 min consultation because they don’t accept the top insurance networks in Michigan. They were so focused on the money aspect and getting a deposit down for the surgery, we should have known. Drive to a real practice and save yourself the headache of dealing with these people. It’s worth the drive to Ann Arbor, where the professionals reside.
