When I first started doing CrossFit this past summer, I planned to try out all of the gyms in Grand Rapids. After my first day at 8th day, I saw no need to try anywhere else.8th day has incredible facilities and equipment. However, these things pale in comparison to the excellence by which the gym is run. The programming is tough and fun, and the coaches are enthusiastic and very helpful. Also, the community of members is outstanding.

I have been a part of the 8th day community for a little over 2 years now. It is not only the nicest and most clean CrossFit facilities I have ever been to but most importantly, the people (staff, members, community) is what makes it. Awesome group of people. Staff and members are always smiling and welcoming new faces. Both functional fitness and boot camp classes are instructed well, and it is apparent coaches have a passion for what they do as well as the knowledge set.

This is really an awesome box. Joe, the owner is a fantastic guy.I travel all over the world for work and this really is one of the best boxes Ive visited in all my travels. The facility is superb and the coaching is excellent. Everyone was very nice. I highly recommend this box!!

I made a big mistake with my initial review because I let my emotions get the best of me on their hours... My bad. Great People great facility and I feel very bad for my initial outburst. Words have impact and I was out of line. Please do visit and enjoy an amazing facility.

Arrived for 3 days of workouts last week as a drop in from out of country. Was greeted by the owner, Joe, and given a tour of his awesome gym. Met great people, did several well- programmed workouts and had a STELLAR experience. I left wishing this was my hometown gym. Thanks guys!!

First and foremost the owner is an amazing person. That means the coaches are amazing and the equipment is updated and well taken care of. The place is clean. The coaches help you get to the level of training you want to be at and its a great place to meet people that have the same goals as you and are willing to help you along the way.

Just did one class after a friend invited me, and its completely humbling and motivating. Having never done a CrossFit workout, I was planning on being lost and out of place, but the instructor Ryan really helped me through, as did the other members. Very accepting environment for newbies! Loved it

Great workouts in the boot camp classes. Love the competitiveness of them as they push me more than I would on my own. Its a great mix of cardio and strength training - and the trainers do an amazing job of helping everyone at all skill levels. Highly recommended!!

The coaches and staff at 8th Day are the best. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly, they make everyone feel welcome whether you have been there for 10 years or 10 days. I recommend them to everyone I know looking for a great gym especially if they are interested in CrossFit. 10/10 would recommend to my family and friends.

My experience was ok.PROS:Ginormous facilityPlenty of Cross Fit equipmentFriendly atmosphereFriendly and knowledgeable coachesCONS:The short time that I was there, the main focus in the Cross Fit classes seemed to mostly upper body. There was a lot of focus on arms and shoulders but not as much on legs and abs. As a female, thats a downside for me.Not enough evening hours or weekend hours.

I recently visited this gym while in town and I cant say enough good things about it! I had emailed for more information prior to my visit and Brooke returned my email promptly with all my questions answered. When I arrived at 8th Day for my first Boot Camp class, Brooke took me on a tour and showed me everything I needed to do to get checked in. I attended three classes while I was there, the workouts were tough but awesome, and the coaches were great as well. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, which is not always the case at CrossFit Gyms. I will definitely be visiting them when I am in town again. Great experience!

I dropped in here when I was in town for work Spring of 2016, because a friend recommended I stop in for a workout if I was ever in the area. The staff was very responsive when contacted about dropping in. Great facilities, made me feel welcome and had fantastic WODs. I will definitely be going back if I am ever back in the area

This is a well oiled machine. Members are truly treated as family. I have been to many CrossFit gyms and this is place is bar-none! It benefits my everyday life since joining a few years ago.

Attended bootcamp class. It was a great workout! However, I was concerned that the instructor didnt demo the movements. If I was new to fitness/weight training/HIIT workouts I wouldve been lost on how to do a Russian/American/Single Arm kettle-bell swing or possibly injured myself. I was also unsure what modifications there were for movements as they were not demoed. Perhaps our instructor was new or having a bad day? As someone who also teaches fitness classes in the area, Im very understanding. I also never knew the instructors name and he didnt ask who was new to the class and he just threw us in to get started, which is intimidating for newbies...especially those just getting back into fitness (again, not me). My thinking is that 8th Day has structured this type of class with less focus on individuals more of a get in and get out workout compared to their CrossFit classes.Another note, please, please, PLEASE provide wipes for us to clean equipment!! This made my heart so sad. Ive worked in studios where the flu has spread like wildfire! The guy next to me was dripping all over his mat and just hung it up afterwards. Eeek!All in all, this is a great workout. The facility is huge, though a little disorganized and hard to navigate when you first arrive. It looked like everyone in class really enjoyed being there. And, at the end of the day, I was sore and feeling it which is the POINT of working out. There are areas for improvement at the gym, but a good spot for those who live/work downtown.

My first five months at 8th Day have been nothing short of life changing. And I mean that with absolute sincerity. Yes, my physical change has been noteworthy, but the difference Ive seen in my energy levels, self esteem and overall daily outlook have really undergone an even bigger transformation. Class is truly the first thing on my mind each day when I wake up. Second is the soreness, of course. I joined this gym because I wanted something to do after work that would keep me--excuse me--get me in shape. After my first few days, I knew 8th Day would do just that, but I had no idea what else would come from joining this incredible community.

Absolutely the best workout regimen Ive ever been exposed to. Ive done everything from running to Pilates and yoga as well as classes at my regular gym and have never seen changes in my body they way I have after working with Shane and Joe. More than the fact that Im stronger and faster after just two months of CrossFit at 8th Day, I love all the new friends I have made and enjoy the camaraderie among all the members.
