I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. In fact, I will make sure to tell people to not give them their business. Unfortunately, I did not have a choice because this company is was sent by my home warranty company. What should have been a routine repair turned into an almost two week display of disorganization and the outright bilking of money from both the warranty company and me. My water heater was functioning before these people arrived but when they left it was suddenly unusable. The technician told my warranty company that there was a leak so he could justify getting more money. There was never any leak of any kind. The problem was with the thermocouple. I was charged for at least on part they NEVER replaced, they provided no invoice for any of their work, they left a mess in my home and seemed unwilling to work with my schedule to get the installation complete (I have 3 jobs). Each time I called I was given the excuse that they were short-staffed...no, youre disorganized, inconsiderate and only concerned with taking money.Anyway, if you have a choice, avoid this place. I will make sure to tell everyone I deal with (2 of my jobs are in community outreach) to never give them their business.

I have been on the phone, on hold, for 40 minutes with water pouring into my basement from my water heater. This is after waiting over 36 hours to receive a call from them after my claim was sent to this company by my home warranty company. So, I don’t plan on getting any response from them or having them come out in a timely manner. I’m sure the entire basement will be flooded by that point. I would rather not use my home warranty and get a plumber that can actually come do the job on time instead of leaving us hanging like this.

I was worried with some reviews until I saw the bad ones were mostly connected to home warranty issues outside of Whitney’s control. So glad I used the !We had Josh out to help finish off the electrical part of our basement remodel. I was referred to Whitney by my warranty company. Travis came out to replace a leaking outside water spigot. Several hours later, it started to crack and was leaking water all over the place. It was not the fault of the technician, it was simply a bad weld on the part. However, getting someone at Whitney to come back out was very very difficult. Their scheduling system and phone system are a nightmare. Eventually, Travis was able to come out the next morning and fix the repair. He was very prompt, and efficient, and I was completely satisfied with his professionalism. However I had to deduct a star simply because of the difficulty of talking to a human being in their scheduling and service department. They can and should do a lot better.

I was originally referred to Whitney Plumbing & Electric through American Home Shield to fix a leaking kitchen faucet. The faucet was slightly leaking at the rotating part of the faucet, but more so leaking down below underneath the sink. I scheduled an appointment originally for July 24, and they changed my appointment time twice before actually showing up. Living alone and working 12 hour shifts, I had to move things around twice to accommodate them. After my first technician came out and realized he couldnt fix my faucet, but would have to order parts, he left it in worse condition, and it was significantly leaking from the top and bottom every time the water was on, and left my sink unusable. I heard nothing from Whitney regarding a new appointment, timing, or approval from AHS. I had to call multiple times to gather any information and waited 10 days after initial appointment to get a new plan. A new faucet was ordered, and another appointment was made August 18th. This appointment time was changed the day before, and I had to adjust my schedule once again to accommodate. For 21 days I could not use my kitchen sink, and dont have a dishwasher. I was using my bathroom sink to wash dishes for 3 weeks. After the first visit and giving feedback about the technician leaving it in worse condition than he found it, no apology was given, and nothing was done to fix the problem, I just had to wait. Looking back, I should have cancelled their services after the first visit and gone elsewhere! I will be following up with American Home Shield as well. I understand staffing is an issue everywhere, but perhaps if you cant handle the volume of customers, you should accept less.

This company was assigned to me to fix a pipe leak issue by American Home Shield. The technician was not able to identify the problem during first visit. With zero knowledge on plumbing, I found the problem, and called to re-open the service request. Another service was scheduled to next day. However, no one showed up by the end of the day. I made numerous calls to this company, but no one answered my phone or replied my voice message. One day later, I received an email notice saying the service was re-scheduled to 4 days later. I was not able to take shower the day when I identified the problem, because a lot of water leaked to my wood floor. I was not able to cancel the service or get refund due to the restriction from home warranty company. What am I doing now.... Looking for YouTube video to fix the problem myself. The company doesnt care if you dont take shower for one week or flood your floor.

Absolutely terrible so far. Water heater was leaking so I submitted a request through AHS and had someone come out yesterday morning to take a look/fix it. I have not heard back after the appointment. They closed my hot water heater line and when I turn it back on it leaks more now. No communication whatsoever. Im currently on hold and have been on hold for the last hour. I left a voicemail yesterday and still nothing. Atrocious communication. I just want to know whats going on and a timeframe.

Unfortunately our home warranty company uses Whitney Electric & Plumbing for service repairs. I say this is unfortunate because they claimed to have fixed my leaking faucet and 30 minutes after they left it was ten times worse than it was before they tried to fix it. So I had to have someone else come and fix it. On another issue, we had a leaking drain. So we had them come out to fix that, they then said the faucet needed to be fixed as well and was going to inform the warranty company. Come to find out, they said the faucet was misused so its not covered. The warranty company then called the technician to find out what he meant by that and all he said was it was misused. Its a faucet, there is no way to misuse it. You turn it on and off. So we will again, have to go with another company since they are so awful at their jobs.

Im located in troy, MI. I was directed to this company through American Home Shield warranty for water dripping into the kitchen ceiling (on 7th July).***i am putting the date and location , otherwise this company will tell, they never had a customer in my user name. The technician came , hardly spend 4 minutes (didnt use any tools). We told him we dont know what causing the water dripping. He told (even without diagnosing or climbing up) that its from the waterline (he not even bothered to turn on the waterline whether leak is happening or not). Then we told there is a toilet in 1st floor (no standing shower), he can check that. He came , just entered the toilet, told like it is from toilet (no tile cracks, wall cracks present). Came back to leak area and then told its from the water pipe in the kitchen and he need to cut the sealing open and do the pipe repair. He told me , will comeback in another 2 days and do the repair work. I cancelled all my programs and waited. he didnt show up. I called the warranty company next day, they told Whitney technician gave a report that need to remove tiles and cut the toilet wall. Those repairs are not covered under warranty. How the heck a person can decide the cause of leaking without checking and diagnosis. This company wanted to do only un-covered repairs so that they can loot the customer/warranty company. Just asked the diagnosis report to email me for their * so called findings* and diagnosis. They are asking 4 days to email me (Im sure, I am not going to get that).Never ever contact them!!! I would have read the previous comments listed here , same thing happen!!!They seem to have no desire to help people who get in contact with them through the home warranty company. This company wanted to perform jobs not covered so they could receive more money.. I wasted $75 fee for the service call because I never received a service. The guy had no intentions of fixing what was requested ..This company should NOT be on the extended home warranty list if they are not willing to do the jobs for the fee that customers pay through the warranty. AHS continues to hire these substandard companies and the customers are sick of it.

Referred by American Home Shield, techs showed up same day, looked at clogged drain said his equipment was broken. He was going to get approval for work and someone would be out the next day. When I didn’t hear from them I checked with AHS the tech had reported the ticket closed and the service was complete? I call Whitney and spoke to a very rude young lady and was told a request for authorization was sent to AHS which AHS says they never received. 2 days later and after numerous calls to both AHS & Whitney I got feed up, canceled the service and called another plumber directly who came out within 2 hours and cleared the drain. Customer Service is none existent and I will never do business with Whitney again.

We had to use this company through our Home Warranty company, and it seems to be a big problem in doing so. They seem to have no desire to help people who get in contact with them through the home warranty company. Our water heater broke 2 WEEKS AGO. It took them 3 days to get in contact with us to schedule an appointment. Then they never put in the report like they said they would for 4 days, when the home warranty company reached out to them and asked to talk to a manager, which took another 3 days for them to give us a date they would install. Then after the time window elapsed they said their technician wouldnt be coming and would come the next day. But today we get a text that they wont be coming today either due to the weather. While it is snowing, this is also West Michigan and it snows all of the time. We tried calling 6 times and get disconnected every time. We have 2 young children and no hot water for 2 weeks in the middle of winter and NO HOT WATER. If we had the ability to not use this company, we would avoid it and I encourage others to as well. Well also be letting our home warranty company know how awful, unresponsive, and unprofessional they are.

Original quote was to install 2 dedicated circuits for our Outdoor sign. The quote was paid in full over $3k but only one line was installed. Big Al said that is all we needed and THE SIGN doesnt need two lines, however one side of sign didnt work correctly. When I called back they said it would be an additional $1200 to run a second circuit to the sign. After 4 service calls of different people who didnt know what the previous workers had done or what they needed to do it was finally complete, ONLY IT WASNT. Both sides of my sign are still turned OFF by one breaker. I am no electrical engineer but I think they are still both on the same circuit. So I have paid Whitney Plumbing and Electric almost 5 grand and my sign still does not work ..... also as a side note, since their last visit my computer will no longer communicate with the sign; so even if it worked, I couldnt put anything on it. I have tried calling many times and could not get anyone to respond or answer the phone to discuss getting this issue resolved.MOST DIS-SATISFIED CUSTOMER

I will definitely NOT be calling them back. I, like many others, was put in touch with Whitney through my home warranty company. The call was placed Friday and I got service Tuesday. (For a non-functioning toilet and water in my basement). The tech showed up and was nice enough, but he was there for all of 7 minutes, diagnosed the problem, and stated he had to put the request for approval through to the warranty company.I get it, theres a process to this.I advised him that I was on day 4 of no toilet in my house, and he said hed be sure to expedite the request. That night, nothing had been submitted. The next day, mid morning, nothing had been submitted. I attempted to call Whitney and got no answer. The two times I had been on the phone with them before, the customer service reps werent rude, but I felt very much rushed off the phone, like they didnt want to be bothered. At the end of the day, I gave up on this (literal) sh*tshow and called a different plumber, happy to pay out of pocket to actually get service. They were here the very same day and were much more professional, friendly, and helpful.

This company was sent out by our home warranty company to fix a sewer gas leak coming from our bathroom sink. The plumber came in, didn’t even look at the sink or pipes and said “I have to order a stink bomb to see where it’s leaking.” It is VERY obviously coming from the sink. So he said he’d go immediately and put in that request and we’d hear back in a couple days. It’s been over a week and still nothing. So we called the warranty company and they said they had never heard back from this company and have to request for anything. The warranty company then tried to call the plumber to follow up. They are not answering their phone. I would never recommend this company and will be requesting a different plumber in the future. I lost power to a section of home. 2 guys came out and said they would have to run a new wire from the panel and would cost $400 after they were unable to locate the problem. Got a 2nd company to come out and he found that is was just 1 bad outlet, fixed, took 15 min. Also had to have a light swapped out that was bad, first guys that came just said it was bad and left it. When I had them back to fix as it was covered by my insurance the new guy went out and bought a part to fix it but it didnt fit, and then took the bad part and threw it out and left. I had to followup to have them come back with the right part and fix but then it got denied by my insurance since they said the light is missing...which Whitney had taken. After several weeks finally got Whitney to confirm they had taken the bad part and they would come back and install the replacement. Took another couple weeks for it to get ordered and come in and then when the guy came back to install it finally he measured the spot where the light was to go and said I have to go pick a light up...(clearly they hadnt ordered any part). So it did finally get fixed, this process took about 2 months in total. Needless to say I would not recommend Whitney as they dragged out and tried to up-sell me needlessly, preying on people who rely on companies for expertise in areas they are unfamiliar with is bad business practice and highly unethical.

I was directed to this company through American Home Shield warranty for a water heater. The warranty company would only contract out to Whitney in my area. The tech came and looked at my water heater for 2 minutes and said, lets get you a new water heater. He was in and out in 5 minutes. I then received a notice from AHS that I needed to pay for modifications that arent covered in my warranty before the water heater could be installed. These modifications totaled almost $600 and were for new pipes, new gas line, a vent modification and a pan modification. I had 2 separate, licensed plumbers look at everything and they both said those modifications werent necessary. Whitney wouldnt budge and said they wouldnt install a new water heater without those modifications. It had nothing to do with bringing it up to code, it is just their policy. They said they switch every line, every time. The other plumbers I talked to said they are scamming me for extra money, most likely because they dont make as much off AHS business. I had to pay $100 for the Whitney tech to come to my house for less than 5 minutes and look at my water heater, so maybe Im in the wrong profession. This company is dishonest and I dont recommend doing business with them.

This was the worse service (actually non-service) Ive received through American Home Shield. First, the tech didnt come on the scheduled day because he said it was too late. Then he arrived late the next day. Second, he never had any intentions on repairing the dripping faucets (walking in without a tool in his hand) that day. He reported to AHS that the faucet bodies should be replaced (which was not covered by AHS). This company wanted to perform jobs not covered so they could receive more money (close to $400). I wasted $100 fee for the service call because I never received a service. The guy had no intentions of fixing what was requested (didnt want to do the work for $100). This company should NOT be on the extended home warranty list if they are not willing to do the jobs for the fee that customers pay through the warranty. Im responding to your response from my phone. As a matter of fact, I just spoke with someone in your office today (I believe her name was Jamie, cant remember) and I texted your tech yesterday from my phone. This company took the $100 fee w/out doing anything. Of course AHS does not cover all of the modifications you want to do, which is why your tech recommended them (so that the company would receive more than the $100).

Horrible company. I had to get the valves on my main water line replaced but did not have the choice of which company would do the work as it was done through my home warranty. Appointment was rescheduled multiple times, which the city played a part in as well so not all Whitney’s fault there, and I looked past it. Eventually they showed up and the simple job was done but a leak exposed itself when the water was turned back on. They “fixed” the leak and left. The next time I walked down to the basement the bathroom floor and carpet are soaked, and I find a leak in the pipe that they worked on. This was on a Saturday, and neither I nor the home warranty company could get a hold of their on call tech for hours. When the warranty company finally got a hold of them, I was told Whitney would be out as soon as possible to remedy the issue. Again, did not hear back for hours and when I finally did, they said they could come out the next morning. At this point I’d already made arrangements with another company and told Whitney not to bother. My water was shut off for over 8 hours due to their simple screw up and I now have to get restoration work done and carpet replaced in my basement, which we just replaced last month after we moved in. Another minor thing, they came right in and walked on the carpet with their boots on. Every other contractor I’ve had come through has put covers on as soon as they walked in the door.

Whitney plumbing sent someone 3 days later because again they dont take our issues seriously or have any sense of urgency. I contacted them after a week of waiting from their last visit here where they told us we were waiting on a part to be shipped to my house not their business(completely unprofessional) and after I contacted them they tell me the warranty company denied the claim. Who knows when they denied the claim and how long this company would have let me and my family go without hot water or even knowing the status of our issue. I am sharing my experience in the hopes of saving someone else from a similar headache.I was directed to Whitney Plumbing & Electrical as part of an American Home Shield claim. The initial interaction started out good and it felt like I had been connected to a reputable firm. After the initial inspection of a hot water and sump pump replacement, things changed. The tech that came out said that it would be an easy claim and even scheduled the time for the install.During this time some electrical work that would be needed for the install was mentioned which I had completed in time for the install. After this interaction, communication was very challenging. I had to call for any updates and actually getting through was almost impossible. When placing a call it would either say they were on another line, the voice mail was full, or just hang up. When I would get lucky and actually talk with a person there was little info available and call backs never happened. As the install date approached and I had no info or confirmation, I kept calling for an update. Finally I got through and was told that they were ready for the Friday install but there would be a $450.00 out of pocket cost for me. When I asked why since the warranty covered the items in need of replacement I was told it was for 4 pipes that were needed for the install. They finally said I would need to talk with American Home Shield and that I could ask for some sort of cash advance. Things just were not making any sense.I called American Home shield and explained this situation, they then reached out to Whitney Plumbing & Electrical and called me back stating that Whitney would connect with me to explain what was happening. Needless to say this never happened and I called Whitney back and was then told that American Home Shield canceled the claim. Again, this was not making any sense so I called the home warranty company back to find out that Whitney had stated that the problems were preexisting and as such could not be covered.I asked American Home shield to find me a new contractor in the plumbing trade based on my experience with Whitney. The most ironic part of this experience was that the new contractor after reading the notes in the claim asked if I had been working with another company. I said yes, but that I would not share their name. The new contractor then asked me if by chance I was working with Whitney Plumbing & Electrical, since there had been other situations similar to mine. Please save yourself a headache and most likely some cash by avoiding Whitney Plumbing & Electrical.

I hired Whitney to provide and install a whole house generator. I was very happy with the timeliness and efficiency with which they provided their services. Heath and his helper were very friendly and professional. I will hire them again.

Great company !!! We had a emergency plumbing problem (plugged stool). They were able to fix our back up the same day, making everyone in the family happy. “Happy wife, husband not sleeping on the couch “. Thank you again.

Tony did a fantastic job! He was knowledgeable, quick and efficient. My only complaint is the office didn’t return my phone call before scheduling my service call online, but Tony made up for it with his great service!

So my original review was pretty damning of Whitney plumbing and electric as a whole. I am updating my review after talking with Tim the owner and working through the problems I had with some of his staff. Tim seems like a reasonable business man that wants to do the right thing he just has some people on his staff that need to get on the same page or possibly move on.

I have a home warranty that covers the installation and replacement of a leaky water heater with a deductible Whitney was trying to charge me an extra $420 for Home Modifications to install the water heater. My home was built in 2001 and there are no additional modifications needed to install a water heater. After having Whitney evaluate the situation I have had another plumbing company come to my house to confirm that no home modifications need to be done and a basic swap and replace was needed. I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this company.

I made an appointment with Whitney Plumbing & Electric through our home warranty. Our home inspector had brought up some concerns that I wanted a professional to look at. Heath was very professional and made sure we got the most out of our service call. Well definitely be calling them again for any electrical or plumbing needs in the future.

Rod was great! He was knowledgeable and knew exactly how to fix the problem. He cleaned up afterwards and left the site better than he came into. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

They gave me a time frame of arriving at my home to do some work. The appointment was scheduled January 28th between 8:00 and 12:00. I stayed home the entire time waiting for them to arrive, they never showed up or even bothered to call saying they were running late. I called their office at 12:04 on January 28th and was thrown into a voicemail box. Call was never returned. Very disappointing as I still have an issue and wasted my entire morning waiting for them. Won’t recomendable this company due to lack of communication and lack of punctuality.

AVOID! Scheduled to have a 220 drop installed for A/C, and, like I’m now seeing elsewhere on this page, the technician called off, canceling our appointment ONE HOUR before scheduled arrival. The best solution they could offer was another appointment a week out. To an extent, I understand that things happen, but when you’re dealing with daytime appointments when people need to take time off from work, they should do better.

Unreliable service! Scheduling and then rescheduling a problem. Called me 3.5 hours after they were suppose to be there saying oops, cant make it. Also used their plumbing services only to have one of their contractors show up late on a Friday night and then proceeded to leave water all over papers in my basement with no promise to come back. They did send someone out to finish the job, but 2 days later!Bad communication and poor service leaving damage!2 days later I had not received a refund check for the services as promised and when I called to ask about the status of this refund, the receptionist identifying herself as Jamie was extremely rude to me as I tried to get some information concerning the status of that refund. If I could give a rating of negative quality I certainly would. What a scam operation this is.

Worked for a customer today servicing their generator. While servicing noticed that no part of the generator install was up to code. Homeowner said whitney installed all of the generator (gas and electrical) and pulled permits. No way this would ever pass code. And on top of that the gas pipe going to the generator was leaking. Who knows how long its been leaking

I hired this electrician to ground 4 un-grounded receptacles in early November 2016. This task is quite a hassle, which is why I was accepting of the $250 charge for the 4 outlets. This took him all day to do and I felt bad about how difficult the job seemed, but I was a paying customer so whatever. However, yesterday I was switching out receptacles (outlets) as a part of my painting project and noticed that only 2 of 4 outlets that I paid to have grounded were actually not grounded. It appears the electrician was unable to feed the wires down into my basement from above to complete the job, and, instead of admitting this, he simply closed up the job, told me that it was completed and accepted full payment on his way out my door. Pretty slimy. So anyway, thought everyone should be aware of this possible scenario with this electrician. Keep your guard up. Cheers!
