We just spent a couple of days at Wildcatter Ranch, the rooms were nice, the activities were really fun, especially, the horseback riding. The staff that was in charge of the activities was really nice. The pool area is really beautiful with an incredible view. We really enjoyed the food at the steak house, the biscuits alone are worth the trip.My only and BIG Complaint is regarding the guy at the front desk. He was really unfriendly and I feel he went out of his way to be unwelcoming to me.He checked me 20 minutes late, which I understand if they are understaffed, however, it was the way he handled it that really bother me. I went to check in at 3, he said the room is not ready, I asked when will it be ready, he called someone and he said 3:15, then someone else walked in and he checked them in. I went back at 3:15 and he said it was not ready yet, at that point I was a bit frustrated since we got there in the morning to go horseback riding and were tired and ready to clean up. At 3:15 he said it was not ready yet, that it will be ready at 3:20.The next day I asked if I could have a late checkout, just 30 minutes late so we can use the pool, since we had done a couple of activites in the morning and after all we spent over $500 in one night and got checked in late. He refused!!!I also mentioned to him that my daughter is 12 and her breakfast was a different price, he said he didnt think so and I told him to look over the paper with the information where it is clearly stated breakfast is $8 for 12 and under. He picked up the paper and acted like he was reading it, when he must clearly know this basic hotel policy. His attitude towards me was very condescending from the moment I walked in. I would love to go back, the place is really nice, however, his attitude was so sour towards me that there is no way I would put myself through that again.

I recently visited this resort with some friends for a weekend getaway Girls Trip and it was great! We had such a great time and the staff was helpful and accommodating. Rocky at the front desk was especially helpful and really went above and beyond for us. The rooms were spacious and the pool was amazing. I would go back again in the future for sure.

I loved staying here! We stayed in the cabins for 3 nights. The Buffalo cabin was awesome! Rocky and Ashley were very friendly and helpful. The horseback ride was fun as well. The pool was very relaxing and never busy during our stay. But since it is only 3ft deep it was on the warm side.We ate at the restaurant 2 nights and it was delicious! The waitresses were friendly and attentive. The mixed drinks were GREAT! I hope to come back again one day.

The Estate was beyond words.... breathtaking. The venue was spectacular. Every single employee went out of there way to make us feel taken care of. I would highly recommend this for any event. The Estate is worth the asking price! My favorite person was the bartender at the reception, Shawn Greggory, she allowed us extra time to take down all of our hanging décor which was a relief from the busy day. She most definitely is an asset to your company! Thank you for the wonderful weekend! I only wish we had one more night!

Awesome retreat away from sights & sounds of the city. Lots of activities for all ages. Nice restaurant. Entire staff engaging and attentive. Stayed in a cabin, which was huge- loved the fireplace and back porch looking out over Brazos River Valley. Small downside was the dip in our king-size mattress. So only four stars. Heading back out there with the kids though!

We made a reservation well ahead of time for 7:30 Saturday night. We had to wait for over a hour to be seated at our table, then waited another 20+ minutes and never saw a server. We ended up leaving with out even ordering. The bartender had to leave the bar to be a server for an outside table after another guest complained they had been waiting at the table for 15 minutes and no server either. The hostess was also having to wait on the tables. They were woefully understaffed. All of the staff was super polite and nice, just overly burdened. I feel like for the prices they ask for their food, they definitely can afford more help. We figured maybe they just had a rough night, and decided to give them a second chance for breakfast. We weren’t greeted by anyone, no instruction for the buffet. No one letting you know where to go or what to do. We spoke with another group later in the morning who was there for dinner the night before, and they told us it was over 2 hours after their reservation were they even able to order. Definitely was disappointed for what was supposed to be our anniversary dinner.

This is a great place to visit with the family. And the activities are really fun. I would caution anyone that books to sign up for the activities as soon as you can because they fill up quickly. We didnt eat at the restaurant but I heard it was hit or miss from the other guests. I have two boys, so pizza was a better choice. Several restaurants are just 10 minutes away. Its a great place to escape for the weekend.

We had reservations on 10/3 @ 7:30 to celebrate our 11 year anniversary. We drove in from Fort Worth and arrived at 7:15. It took 15 minutes waiting at the hostess stand for anyone to check us in. Once we got checked in we were informed they were running behind and to have a seat at the bar, no big deal we understood. After waiting another 45 minutes someone finally came to us and said that there was a table inside available now or we could wait another 30 minutes for a table outside. We opted to wait for the open table outside, trying to help the staff out since there were clearly understaffed for a Saturday night. Finally at around 8:50 someone came to take us to our table, that wound up being inside. An hour and 20 minutes after our reservation time just to be sat inside anyway. By that point we were so annoyed that we tried to help the staff out by not being in a hurry that we just wanted to order our food and get out of there. As far as the food, it was out really fast, nice and hot. I think the atmosphere would be awesome if they better staffed. It just seems like with a hotel on site you should have enough staff on hand in case every guest in your hotel decides to book the restaurant, not counting any guests that might drive in from out of town.

Oh where to begin... my husband and two daughters feel like celebrities! Thank you Wildcatter for being open just for us (almost)! We decided we needed a getaway from staying at home for the last couple of months but couldn’t find anywhere to go , when we almost gave up Wildcatter popped up in my search. What a hidden gem this is! There was literally nobody else here but another couple so we had the swimming pool, the restaurant and all of the activities to ourselves. The property is gorgeous, the cabins are beautiful and very clean and the staff is incredible! This was the best weekend getaway we have been on! The grounds and views were great. Very scenic. Service was a little lacking. For example, the cleaning service came to the room but quite literally did not clean and didn’t bring towels, coffee, etc. The only food and drink available is through the restaurant, which is a nice place but not all that good, lengthy wait. Otherwise, nice escape from the city!

I wanted to love this place, but it had its pros & cons.PROS:-- Pet friendly-- Easy to access with a quick drive from Dallas-- Things to do-- Remote & great for relaxing-- Activity Staff: Clint, Walt, & Kye (spelling) were *great* (five stars to them)-- Desk Staff: Brittney & Rocky were super sweetCONS:-- Beds were a little stiff-- Bedding was a little too light for the winter months-- Lack of carpeting/area rugs in cabins allowed for freezing floors-- Dining room service was so slow-- Dining options very limitedOverall the resort has a lot of room for improvement on the lodging/dining end of things. Dining room service was so very, very slow even when the dining room was scarcely populated. Our server, who literally served us for four meals in a row was extremely poor at her job (my comment comes from someone who was a waitress of 7 years). Yes, serving can be difficult but we had an issue at every meal. Even if kitchen staff were at fault, the expo should have caught it on the way out, and if the expo didnt catch it errors are at that point the responsibility of the server. However, the waitress was trying and thats important and deserves credit. As for the bar, we ordered a number of mixed drinks. The martini glasses would arrive at the table 3/4 of the way full when typically they are full to the brim. If you want to cut costs, buy smaller martini glasses and fill em up to make it look like your patron is getting what they paid for (itll literally be the exact same amount of liquor). We ordered mixed drinks and they would come *full* of ice, that too is okay but its an obvious way to attempt to cut costs. Cut down on the ice and use more mixers, itll be less obvious. The breakfast buffet lacked nothing and the presentation is so cute on the cast iron skillets. The first morning most of the sternos were not lit and so the food was a little on the cold side... again as a waitress of many years, I can eat ice cold food. Not a big deal. What was a little disappointing was that the next morning the breakfast was the exact same. Again, the breakfast buffet is a great way to cut costs, but maybe offer alternate breakfast options. The ranch is relatively remote and leaving for breakfast/lunch is a little inconvenient. For breakfast I suggest using the exact same items offered to make migas on alternating days perhaps? While the Texas shaped pancakes are super cute, bring out the Belgian waffle maker on the alternating days and allow guests to make piping hot waffles so they get to choose between sweet and savory; you can use the exact same batter as the pancakes require. Food costs should remain the same. So day one, buffet as is; day two migas with sides like the potato pancakes (which are SO good), fruit, cereal, toast but with the option to make hot waffles. It will make your patrons feel as though they are getting just a little more without changing your food costs.Again, the quality of the food is not the problem, just service and lack of variety. I hope these suggestions help, this is not a jab at the kitchen staff either, its very clear they can cook!

I cannot believe this place doesn’t have a perfect 5 star rating. Our experience was perfect from the time we arrived to the moment we checked out. We arrived on Wednesday evening for a retreat for families of children with Down syndrome that started Thursday morning. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The cabins are great and the view from the back porch was incredible. On our retreat we had family activities of archery, clay shooting, tomahawk throw and of course feeding the longhorns. The staff running our activities were again top notch, patient and kind.Every meal from the biscuits and gravy at breakfast to the salads and steaks at dinner was delicious. Our absolute favorite employee was SHAWN...... Shawn just went above and beyond. She was so gracious with our kiddos and their special needs, she was happy to get us whatever we needed, she always had a huge smile on her face and it was genuine. What a wonderful weekend!!! We had a great weekend getaway at Wildcatter Ranch! We would definitely come back sometime for another short trip and recommend this place to friends and family. A few thoughts on our experience…Pros:The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The activities were a lot of fun and really enjoyable. We did roping, archery, and tomahawk throwing and highly recommend them all! In total the cost for the trip was affordable and reasonable. The alcoholic drink menu at the bar was unique and breakfast buffet selection was decent. Although the rooms in the hotel had an “old” feel to them, they were clean and the bathrooms were very well kept. Also, the nature on property was beyond beautiful! You could definitely vacation here as a big family or just a couple, there is a lot to do for all ages.Cons:There is a serious need for more signage on the hiking trails. We followed the map and still ended up at parts where the signs pointed back in the direction we came from and eventually ended up totally off the trails and near the highway. The service at the Steakhouse for dinner was rather slow and the menu was limited. We probably wouldn’t eat there again next time we return. We were also very surprised at the lack of COVID-19 precautions that were taken. The front staff only wore a mask if you requested they put one on and 99% of other guests were not wearing masks. When we checked in there were no questions asked as to if we had COVID symptoms, had a fever, had been exposed, etc. Most of the resort is spaced out and so you are not near people that often, but it would have been more appropriate given the health situation currently going on if guests wore masks when walking through dining areas and if staff more diligently wore their masks.Overall we had a wonderful weekend and look forward to visiting again!

All the quality of Golden Corral (though better service at Golden Corral). Waited 1.5 hours for our meal. Server came by and asked if this was our meal. We said no and then a little later came back with what was supposed to be our meal and uh, no again. Then the third time was the charm. BUT... chicken burned and tasted that way but the two tiny pieces of broccoli were pretty tasty. The loaded potato was not loaded but must have been a reference to the cook. The chicken fried steak I had, well--- it bristled with gristle and I told the waiter I would just go to Taco Casa in Graham. And again, the potato was less, much less, than loaded. I told the waiter it appeared that WC was either having cash flow problems or about ready to do under. We watched several people leave without eating during or stay (enjoyed our conversation for over 2 hours). Watched the hostess literally run up and down the aisle and the server must have asked at least half of the customers if what he was holding was their meal. If you enjoy a carnival and Golden Corral, this is the place to go!

After I signed the contract, all the room prices went down to an affordable price and they refused to uphold that price on the website. They wouldnt even let me borrow something simple as a ladder to help me hang decorations. I wanted to use a couple small hay bales and was told its $18 just to rent for an hour. The last time I ate there, the food was cold and service was horrible. They are not flexible what so ever. And all they seem to care about is taking money. The salad was a few things in a small bowl. Besides the cookies the only dessert was a bread pudding that was mediocre. Asked what was in the potato hash...had no clue. Our waitress was so unfamiliar with the menu. Had to ask for the complimentary rolls after sitting there for 45 minutes. Waited almost 1.5 to get our food. Checks were split up wrong. Now let’s move on to the food...With your meal, you do not get any sides. They are all sold separately, our steaks came in looking like they were just thrown on the plate. No sort of food presentation at all. I am not a picky eater, but to me, my steak was inedible. It tasted like leather. My husband ordered chicken fried steak...he got chicken friend chicken, and he said that it was so dry it was hard to eat. Our guest at our table ordered a hamburger. It came with just meat, bread, and cheese. He had to ask to get lettuce and tomatoes. My sisters steak was so tough it was hard to cut...shall I go on?!?Save your money! My over $20 steak was no were close to medium and loaded potatoes must have been cooked at lunch. I am a native of Graham Texas and expected so much more. Its unfortunate but I wouldnt recommend this place anyone and will not be back!

Where to begin? Rude and disinterested staff at front desk. Very unhelpful. Customer service makes the experience. Even all the problems, such as rooms not ready on time, unclean rooms, surprise gratuities on bills, and free breakfast that was not free, no wake up calls, clogged toliets--can be overlooked a bit if the staff is apologetic or helpful or even pretends to care. Tried to talk to manager. No returned phone calls. Who runs a business this way? Do not be a hospitality industry if you cant be hospitable.

Its gone down hill. Went for the Thanksgiving buffet which used to include a person carving turkey, ham and prime rib. This year it was a aluminum pan line with dried out food. No prime rib, just bad for the price paid.

Portions seems small at first glance but each item on plate had such rich flavor, I quickly changed that thought to perfectly filling & appetizing meal. Ordered chicken fried chicken with extra gravy (note extra gravy is a plus!), the seasonal veggies which included brussel sprouts and banana nut squash which was amazing, and the perfectly cooked asparagus. Great meal! Worth a visit!

Came here for a banquet. We had over 300 people and they didnt seem to be ready for that amount of customers. We had buffet and it took forever for the food to get out in time. The views are amazing and the hotel looks to be very nice. We only spent a few hours here.

Cool place. They said their events were booked up such as house riding and archery; however, we didnt see many people at the resort and didnt see many people riding horses.

Going to Wildcatter Steakhouse is always a lovely experience! The food is always delicious and plentiful. And the service is always extremely good. The views out the back are amazing and if its not too hot, make sure you try to sit on the patio. We had reservations for dinner the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. You should always make reservations though, no matter when you go. We started off each was a cocktail of choice. I had the house Chardonnay and it was delightful. For dinner my husband and I ordered the special the dinner Duo two for 25 with two sides. We had the bone-in ribeye and it was amazing! Perfectly medium rare. Our friends had the 6 ounce fillets and they were cooked perfectly as well. As a surprise for my husbands 60th birthday, I had ordered a chocolate cake for after dinner. It was enormous! And so very good. Also it was only $16 for that huge cake! When you go, be prepared for them to be pretty busy no matter what time of year. Our server was a little swamped and he got in the weeds a bit but when we let the manager know we needed some help, they were Johnny on the spot.Wildcatter Steakhouse is always a wonderful place to go if youre looking for that perfect steak, a good meal or reason to celebrate!

We recently had our company retreat there and everything was FABULOUS! The staff was incredibly accommodating and the nicest people weve ever come across. (Especially Jay &Tanya) The food was great and the activities were perfect for our time there. The cabins were really quaint and made you feel like you were truly living in the wild, wild, West. I would highly recommend this place for any company outing or family trip

We had a huge group of people come here (Gunslingers Nationals) and everyone had to wait a long time for food. It was not worth $20 per person and after such a long wait, the food ended up going to waste. The gift shop is an office and priced way too high.

Ate here a few years ago and was impressed with the quality of the food and ambience. No longer true. The service was slow because they had trouble THAWING the meat. It did not even have grill marks and was probably fried.Furthermore, it was so dry I ate the fat (which was about half the meal) and showed the dry meat to the the waiter. He simply shrugged his shoulders. Really not much he could do.Dont go here.

Absolutely beautiful. Situated on a ridge, it boasts breathtaking views overlooking the Brazos River & the valleys between plateaued hills near Graham, TX. Service was stellar. Hotel staff was friendly, wait staff at the steakhouse was attentive without being intusive (they knew when to let you just enjoy the spectacular view of the valley in peace), & the horse guides were helpful, courteous & professional. You could not ask for better folks. Rooms in the hotel were comfortable and kept the ranch feel of the place. You almost felt like you were walking around in an old western movie, with the wooden railed, wraparound balcony & stairs open to a large open space in the middle of the hotel. Steakhouse is a must! You wont forgive yourself if you dont bite into a 1 1/2 inch thick filet grilled to perfection. The days have well organized activity times for archery, skeet/clay shooting, group & private horse rides, morning longhorn feeding, and theres the pool & hot tub perched on a high cliff with amazing view. We stayed in the hotel, but there are also cabins & even a homestead house available. It has a wedding/event pavilion & meeting rooms as well.

This review is solely for the steakhouse. I was sooo disappointed. We come to Jacksboro once every year for work and we always look forward to going to wildcatters. So much so, that I’m willing to drive over a hour from my hotel to visit. Well I won’t be visiting again. We ordered our food and waited TWO hours and still there was no answer from the kitchen. We never saw a manager and no discount or some type of gesture to apologize for the late food was given. Needless to say we never got our food and ended up leaving. Oh, and so did half of the restaurant. We watched 10 other guests get up and leave and yes, that was about half of the people in the restaurant. No service for two hours AND the place was practically empty? So sad. Management needs to change ASAP.

We had our company Christmas party out at the Ranch. We all got to bring our families and we stayed the weekend. The Ranch is beautiful. The staff are so nice and accommodating. Booking was a breeze and they catered to all of our requests. The cabin rooms were awesome. The themes of each room is different and gave us all something to talk about. We played horse shoes and tether ball, hung out by the pool, (it was cold outside in December but the view was beautiful). We had dinner at The DinnerBell and it was delicious. I definitely recommend this place for a couple looking for a weekend get away or a corporate event. Thanks Tristian, Beverly and Tammy.

Well, the restraint opened at 5 and the cheapest item was I believe $17. However I have to say that service was exemplary, modest portion, not large. Although there were no more than two or three other tables.

Was HIGHLY disappointed with the food here. Ive heard so many good things but those claims came up false. Ordered a 12 oz ribeye, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The steak came out very well done and dry. The mashed potatoes came out cold and the grilled asparagus came out as steamed plain asparagus. No seasoning whatsoever. The whole meal was a disappointment. The only good things about our visit was the place is beautiful, the waitstaff was very good and the beer was cold. Thats literally it. On top of that, our party was the only ones there except for 2-3 people sitting at the bar so they werent busy. Dont waste your time on this $80 for 2 meal. Will never recommend this place to anybody.
