What a tremendous experience! The customer service was top notch. Jim spent about 40 minutes diagnosing my issues and nuts / bolts in the process but wouldnt accept payment for that time that he spent figuring out what was wrong. I brought the vehicle back as arranged and they replaced the front differential. They got it done quicker than expected and I am extremely pleased with the work done. Jim and office manager Hannah understand that exceptional customer service pays dividends. I was referred to Jim by two different people in the automotive industry which made me think there was something to be said about his work. Jim has helped me on several vehicles, from some minor issues, to problems with a manual transmission, to building a transmission for my hot rod (twice). He performanced a free diagnose on my vehicle without an appointment, he is honest and have a outstanding personality. I normally dont write reviews unless a place stands out to me, and Ive got to say, Transmission Shop Inc is the place to go if youve got car trouble!Honestly,Ive always worked on my own vehicles myself since I was young, my father raised me well. But ever since I moved to MN from CA, I havent had the resources to fix my own vehicles (a shop or tools). I first took my jeep to Jim(the owner) in 2016 with some minor issues. He and his team did a great job at a fair price. Later I had an unrelated issue that ended up being a major issue. Jim quoted me (and stuck to) a fair price and did amazing work. Since then I have and will always take my vehicles to him. He is an honest, trustworthy man that runs a genuine business and does great work.Its been refreshing to do business with someone honest, hard working and polite as the day is long.

Old school service. I took my car to the dealer to deal with a shifting issue and got a preliminary quote with a promise to get back to me after they checked with their transmission expert. While I waited I figured Id get a second opinion. TSI got me in quick, gave me a detailed evaluation and reasonable quote so I gave them a shot. The service was excellent and Im very happy with their work.

I was sure it was going to cost a lot more than the car was worth, but to my great surprise it was very reasonable with very professional work. I highly recommend this shop !!

I was referred here by a glowing review from a friend (who never even was charged for transmission diagnosis and advice). Since I have been servicing my vehicles I have found their staff to be MORE than helpful and the work to be top notch.Most places you call for service or an estimate will just crunch some numbers on a computer and regurgitate a number for an estimate. Every time I have called with service they have taken personal time to understand the situation and bring me up to speed so that I am able to make the best decision. When the conclusion is to have work done at TSI, the price is very fair and the value cant be beat!

Excellent service. Of course car wouldnt make slipping sound while driven by these folks. Came back to have fluid checked on hoist. No dip stick so oil change joints ignore it. 3.5 quarts low. Labor charge was half of what I expected. My ego and transmission saved from burning up. I was the only one who heard the slipping sound.

Jim and his staff were amazing! Saved me time and money in a hurry! I highly recommend this place! The clip that holds my transmission cables broke while my truck was in reverse, in my Jobs parking lot.. in FRIDLEY! I was able to have it towed to Jim, he fixed it and the next morning before work I was able to pick up my truck for sn affordable price! Thanks Jim!

Jim, the owner is a straight shooter who works hard to treat you like you were his own kin, by going the job right and finding you the best value for your dollar. Ive had Jim and his transmission wizard Brad build 3 different transmissions for my trucks, all with some specialty specifications on them, and theyve all held sold through constant use and abuse. I cant recommend TSI in Golden Valley enough.

I wouldve given them 5 stars, but instead of completing my car in 5 days...it took 10. Jim, the owner, is very knowledgeable and will ONLY do repairs/upgrades that the transmission requires. He was very helpful, and his expertise is second to none! Note that I had my vehicle transported to TSI, after two other transmission places in the Twin Cities sent me quotes with excessive costs...and TSI went above & beyond their quoted repairs at a much lower price. Luckily, I had basic knowledge of transmissions, otherwise I wouldve paid much more for one of the other shops to complete.

I have a 2003 VW Passat and the transmission started slipping. I went to 2 shops who each charged $100 to diagnose my problem and check my transmission fluid level. Both of them said my fluid levels were fine and that I needed a $3,00-$4,000 transmission job. I found this hard to believe being that the car only has 73,000 miles on it. A friend of mine recommended this shop and I took it in for a free diagnosis. They found that it was a bad CV shaft, the transmission needed to be re-calibrated, and it was 1.5 quarts low on fluid. $300 later my car works great. Honest, professional service is hard to find, but it can be found here. I cannot recommend them enough. THANK YOU!!!
