I have been a patient of Chris Hanson’s for a few years he is the best mental health professional I have had. He always tries to help me out even when I sometimes struggle. He truly cares about his patients is professional knowledgeable and a good person! He goes out of his way to help. His office staff Kathy who does appts is also very kind and patient understanding and helpful. They put up with me despite my ups and downs and I am grateful. Thanks again Sahara behavioral health!

Cathy was so helpful in helping me understand my insurance. I just turned 26 and am new to the dealing with insurance on my own, and she took the time to help me understand what exactly I am getting charged. This is super important to me, and helped ease my confusion. I am glad to know they are willing to explain every cost and provide full transparency.

Having the TMS treatment helped me tremendously. I came into Sahara Behavioral Health suffering from debilitating anxiety and bipolar depression. PJ was my TMS coordinator and was great at walking me through the treatments and supportive through the entire TMS treatment process. I would highly recommend that anyone suffering from depression consider not just the treatment, but particularly checking our Sahara as PJ was part of the recipe to the success of my treatment. This Office is horrible and unprofessional. They do not care about client care and they justify speaking in rude and condescending ways to their client base. They canceled my 1st appointment and never told me. When we tried to figure out what happened they treated my wife and i very poorly. My wife is a mental health professional also, and knows their conduct is gross and a violation of their medical license. A formal complaint will be filed. No one should justify devaluing others in a pathetic effort to hide the incompetency of their medical and administrative staff. When my appointment actually occurred, Dr McKinney was rude, and condescending and spoke over me more than once. She does not care how she comes off and obviously aires her superiority. Sadly a western medicine degree does not mean she is a good or even a nice woman. She argued with me during the call to the point i finally said i was not going to put up with her misconduct any further and ended the appointment immediately. This woman parents have failed her. Maybe it is a cultural issue which i fail to understand, but the other Doctors i have seen who are from different nationalities dont seem to overcompensate in the way this woman sadly does. I dont care who someone is, or what nationality they come from, what life style choice they have chosen for themselves, how much money they make in a year, what kind of car they drive or even the political standing they might have. What matters at the end of the day is how we treat one another. And if the medical schools can turn out @$$Holes like this who completely fail to understand basic civility and customer service, then we need to reevaluate the standards of those institutions. Someone contact her parents and inform them that they missed the mark with their child. Earning a paycheck doesnt make you important enough to treat others in these ways. May the God you worship have mercy on your prideful soul.

Monica the lady who does prior authorization does not help patients get their medicine by working with your insurance company. My insurance company said they would accept a prior authorization for a prescription even though Sahara is not in network with them. Monica refused to send one at all. I went without medication because of her. She doesn’t have a heart and will hang up on you given the chance. I don’t know how they allow her to work somewhere that has vulnerable people.Update: 05/22/21: The doctor I see named Kimberly is amazing and she helped me get medication very similar to what I was taking since Monica won’t do her job.

The doctors and staff at Sahara Behavioral Health are absolutely amazing. I have made more progress under their care in the last year than I have anywhere else I have tried in the 10 years prior to my becoming a patient at Sahara.I just completed my 9 weeks of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy and I feel like a new person; more confident, happier, and better able to cope with lifes difficulties. My depression is almost non-existent compared to where it was just 2 months ago. Before TMS, I was struggling with hopelessness, feeling like I, and the world, would be better off if I were dead, wishing I was dead, and just felt like a zombie, for a lack of a better way to express how I felt. I wasnt living life… Now, I am.My friends, family, and I started seeing progress after just one week of treatment. TMS therapy has been a blessing for me.PJ and Stephanie are absolutely amazing, kind, and supportive. They have been with me every step of the way, making sure Im comfortable during my sessions and providing me with different coping skills and activities to help me outside of my sessions. They made committing to this treatment so much easier for me.Everyone I have interacted with at Sahara seems to be there because they truly care about the patients health and well being, not just to pay the bills.I highly recommend Sahara Behavioral Health and the TMS therapy they offer for your mental health needs.

I cannot day enough about how much this procedure and staff has changed my life for the better! PJ, the technician who is certified and administers the TMS was amazing. He has the counseling skills that enhanced the process to eliminate the lingering “thought processes” that kept me stuck. In summary, I received so much more than TMS treatment. I received a personalized counselor that walked me through “what” to do when old thought patterns surface. He gave me tools and blogs to help me stay on a positive track, after the TMS treatments ended. I encourage you to explore this option...TMS. It is life changing!

This practice is far from professional and helpful. I have been seeing them for a year now and finally cant take the staff there any longer. As a previous comment said, they are all about the money and not about the patients well being. They change appointment dates or schedule you for an appointment you did not set up, then charge you for a fee on their mess up. Being a medical student myself, I can clearly see the lack of empathy and professionalism in not only the staff, but the especially psychologists themselves. Worst year of my life spent with this practice. Far from helpful by any means. My suggestion. Find another practice if you are seeking medical attention or help by any means.. The staff needs to go back to school and learn how to interact and care for their patients or just re-evaluate their career paths as a whole... As far as Ive seen, the medical profession is NOT for them.

I had been struggling with anxiety and depression for many years when TMS was first introduced to me. I had just returned to work from being on leave for my disorders and was still not 100%. I had relied mostly on medications up until that point but always felt they only took me so far. I was excited and hopeful that this treatment would take me to a higher level of healing. My initial consultation was with both Dr. Purwall and PJ Ghuman both of whom were very professional and reassuring. I didn’t know what to expect but everything was explained very well.PJ conducted my sessions and he really kept me motivated to keep coming back and included me in my progress. He also handled all my insurance matters and was very flexible with my work schedule.I definitely feel that TMS gave me the boost I needed to keep working and adjunct my prescriptions. Dr. Purewall is wonderful. However, the wait time is always 1 to 1.5 hours and the front office lady who checks in patients and takes co-pays is probably the most rude person I have ever interacted with. I was just told that “you can’t just come in 15 minutes late and expect to be seen on time.” Even though I would be sitting in the waiting room for an hour anyway. She proceeded to show no remorse, raise her voice at me and tell me I can leave if I’d prefer. Stuck thinking the only option was to collect social security, accept defeat, and throw away my college degrees. Then I met Kimberly Nelson at Doctor Purewals office. And instead of offering me another medication she suggested to me TMS therapy. That is when my life changed forever. I started TMS therapy and dedicated myself to have a total of 36 treatments. Around treatment #20 I started to feel whole again. That dark cloud drifted away. I started posting my resume and landed a job. My perspective of myself has changed. The treatment experience was amazing. PJ helped me through from start to finish. He was there at every appointment and he helped me through some of my challenges through the beginning of my treatments. He was so supportive and knowledgeable. I’m so thankful for his company. Ive been seeing Dr. Purewal at Sahara Behavioral Health for nearly 15 years, if memory serves. Once I realized that I needed more care than what I was receiving, a close relatives glowing recommendation led me to Dr. Purewals office—and before the end of my first appointment, I knew he was the practitioner I needed. His soft-spoken, even keel lends him an incredibly calming presence, and he truly cares about his patients. Despite his extraordinarily busy schedule—he sees patients at the office and does rounds at the hospital—Dr. Purewal remembers the most minute details of his patients lives. He even remembers the particulars of my relatives lives that have come up in various appointments, and will ask about them periodically. Due to the nature of the practice, crises are unfortunately not uncommon and cause delays; therefore, as other reviewers have mentioned, the wait after check-in is a bit lengthy. In my opinion, the quality of care Ive received from Dr. Purewal is absolutely worth the wait. Additionally, the staff cuts down on needless waiting by offering on-the-spot appointments with immediately available practitioners to patients only in need of medication refills. Ultimately, I love this practice and trust them entirely with my care.

After turning my request for a payment plan down, she happily accepted another patients late payment without issue, which is a fun double standard for those of us who struggle to pay the bills. The psychiatrist can barely be bothered to look at you, let alone pretend care for more than the 5-10 minutes it takes to jot down a prescription and shuffle you out of his office- I cried out of frustration at our session and he refused to make eye contact afterwards, silently waiting for me to leave his office instead of showing me the way to the lobby like he said he would.
