My mother went to Dr. Kunimoto for years & he treated her for AMD. I went to him for Macular clearance prior to having Cataract surgery. I think he is fabulous & would recommend him to anyone with retinal eye issues.

Fantastic group. Suffered a detached retina and was referred here. Both Dr. Mehta and Dr. Jamal were absolutely great. I am in recovery now, but believe the quick actions resulting in emergency surgery may have saved my vision. Even if I search, I can find nothing negative in my experience. It is a long appointment. It takes several hours to get each procedure done.I know people forget just what it takes for each appointment. I bring a book, a little power bar and my own water. Im grateful for my sight and I let the doctors take the time to do what Im there for. Thankful for the services.

This place was very professional. Very clean. Very organized. They got you in and out. I am comfortable coming to them. The doctor was knowledgeable.

2 1/2 hrs seems like an awful long time for an appointment for a check up! It’s really a good thing that weLove Dr Itty. It’s no consideration for the patient or the person taking the patient to his appointment that needs to wait in a hot car due to not being allowed in with patient.

Everyone at the office is extremely kind, efficient and pleasant! Dr Kunimoto has always been very kind and efficient also!! I have great trust in him and would refer him to anyone needing eye care! My only complaint is the long wait to be seen by anyone.

Everybody working there was very professional and efficient. The doctor I met with, Dr. Itty was very friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to answer my questions, I never felt rushed. The people in the waiting room were saying this is the best practice they’ve been to, which gave me confidence during my first visit.

Dr Barakat and the team are very efficient and everyone seems happy to be doing their jobs.

Everyone was kind and very good at explaining what test they were doing and the appointment moved right along. I appreciated the dark room for after having my eyes dialated. Even though the place was busy, there was plenty of room to socially distance. Dr Jamal was great. I felt much better after leaving the appointment as all my questions had been answered and I felt I was in good hands for the future.

Everyone was on time. I really appreciate that. Each time I saw medical personnel I was treated. Dr Itto was very through as usual.

Love Dr. Itty, but am really surprised that his office staff is not vaccinated. I would assume a medical office would require that people who work there follow guidelines that protect their patients. I will continue to go there because Dr. Itty is terrific, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable.

This was my first visit here. They were amazing! I had an issue with my right eye and the got me in immediately! They were all very nice to work with. I will definitely recommend them to anyone looking for professional care .

Dr. Itty is great! He answered all questions with ease.BUT ..... as usual the office help is not friendly in the least. The worst was the checkout/appointment desk attendant. She was very snippy about not having my mask on ( I forgot to put it on after the exam). She did have a double mask on behind a plexiglass screen and in a surgical jumpsuit. The rest of the staff was not rude but not glad to be there either.

I have been seeing Dr Itty for a little over a year now. He’s very kind and patient, he always listens to my questions and concerns and made my diagnosis and treatments very manageable. The wait times can be very long, but worth it for the great drs

As always Dr. Itty was quick to respond to my concerns with inflammed eyeball, the eye with the problem, he got me right in as he has before when there was a flare up. He is very professional, caring and explains everything. I have all the faith in his abilities and professionalism and knowledge.

I love Dr Itty he’s a great doctor however I was disappointed at my appointment yesterday I had to wait 3 hrs to see the doctor. I asked the check out clerk she said he had several emergencies, unexpected appointments. Ok I understand however I asked why didn’t they call us to reschedule or inform us of the delay.? Her First response was we don’t have the staff to support that and second response was well those people need their appointment as well. My time is valuable too. What if I had other things scheduled. Do I need to leave my day open just in case the schedule gets backed up and they don’t know how to manage it.

I was afraid that I was having issues with the retina in my only good eye and called to see if I could get in to see Dr. Itty the same day. The staff was great from the person who answered the phone, the triage nurse, the front desk person, the tech who did the preliminary check, the tech who took the pictures, and all of the back office people who were so friendly, compassionate and efficient...I thank them all. Dr. Itty examined my eyes and did find that I had a small tear and that a blood vessel ruptured, but that it could be treated with a laser treatment, that he did during the visit. I am so grateful for all that the entire team did to put me at ease and to stop the problem before it could get worse.

My appointment took over 2 1/2 hours!!!! I sat dilated for easily 2 hours before Dr Metha saw me for a matter of 5 minutes!! My appointment was for 3:20, I walked out of the office around 5:45. I was the last patient to walk out of there.

I had a retinal emergency, so had to be worked into the schedule. It didn’t take any longer than normal, so I was pleasantly surprised. The doctor I saw wasn’t my usual one and I felt he could have been more informative, as I had to ask if my eye would heal on its own.

After laser surgery in both eyes and multiple Avastin shots in both eyes I had not been back for four months and when I went back this time everything was great no shots required and I don’t have to return for another three months Dr. Itty is great. Was only there for 15 minutes. My eyes are in much better shape thanks to him. Can’t recommend him more highly

2 hour wait with no explanation.Rude reception. I had a caretaker who is always with me and it was stated, “she can’t stay with you.” Asked why not and was told it was policy. Then an older gentleman who had his wife and never left her alone because of Altzheimers. He was told to sit outside in his car. The temperature was 105.The staff were not patient-friendly.

From the time I checked in at the front desk, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Dr Itty explained everything to me. I left feeling much better and relieved that my condition is not as bad as I thought.

I have always received excellent care here. The eye exams are very thorough using several methods of evaluation. Highly recommend this practice.

Lots of attention and very nice assistants & technicians, but be prepared to wait - theres a lot of patients ahead of you, generally. Last visit, checked in at 9AM, about 30-40 minutes of wait-time between the various procedures, and after 3-5 minutes of actually being with the doctor, was out of there by 11AM.

I could barely see when I left the office, but that has all cleared up now and had by the next day, even the little bit of pain I had in my left eye because of the shot Dr. Barakat had given me. 04/05/2021: I am a 37 year old female, that was advised by my optimist that my retina is detaching. When I heard this, I became worried. I scheduled an appointment with the retina specialist. I was not advised to bring anything, not advised to wear glasses (luckily I did), and was not advised that my eyes were going to be dilated. The last time my eyes were dilated it took me over four hours to see properly. The day before I called to see if they had paperwork online I could fill out prior to the appointment and was directed to where I can print them. I found in this section that you were not able to bring another person along with you due to COVID related reasons, so I advised my other half that he did not have to come. When I got to the appointment, early, I was advised that I was missing paperwork and their site did not have all their paperwork listed. I read on a whiteboard that my eyes would be dilated, which again, luckily I wore my glasses, but became worried on how I was now going to get home. I was brought to a 2nd dark waiting room after my eyes were dilated, where I became concerned as everyone else that had their eyes dilated were on their phones and able to see, but I could not see the screen at all. I asked one of the people that worked there if I had something wrong with my eyes as I was the youngest in there but wasn’t able to adjust my eyes like everyone else, and advise I was fine and the lighter the eyes, the more it effects. I have blue eyes. I was brought to see the doctor, where he examed me and told me he confirmed what my optimist had saw. I waited to hear more, because this is all new to me and I was very anxious in hearing that I have a retina that is detaching. I was told I only need a follow up every six months. I was still having a lot of issue seeing, and waiting for the doctor to stop typing to asks questions, when someone else that worked there walked in with my file and said, “You don’t have to sit here while he types, you are all done”. Overwhelmed and thinking maybe someone else would explain to me what was going on, what follow up I needed, what preventive care I could take, maybe some paperwork on my diagnosis, I walked to the front. I was told your appointment is in six months and here are some sunglasses for your drive home, after I said I had concerns about seeing already. It was about 3:45 pm when I finished and extremely bright outside, I sat in my car thinking how am I going to drive home. I couldn’t even see in front of me. How do they allow other people leave, knowing that this can cause vision impairment, and I had a bunch of questions still left unanswered? When I received my patient portal information, I was hoping that there would be information listed in there about my retina, but nothing. I am lost and worried, even more so than when I started.As of 05/10/2021: After emailing the email suggested by the office, no one has yet to call me or email me back. Changing from 2 stars to 1.Update: 05/11/2021: Received voicemail from Office Manager Allison to call back. I was out of town and provided a call back to her direct number on 05/13/2021. No return call or email. Followed up with phone call on 05/27/2021 in hopes that I can understand my diagnosis, no response again, and left voicemail requesting a call back.

Much better than I expected. Very much liked Dr. Iddy. Was set on a very long wait which seems to be the norm with retina doctors but was not the case here. That was a nice surprise. I was also very pleased with their set up. Having a dark room after all the eye drops and pictures is great.

The people are very nice they answer your questions and they do not rush you they take their time and so does the doctor he also answer your question as best as he his ability

I have been going to Retinal Consultants of Arizona for several years after being diagnosed with age related macular degeneration. I’ve had surgery in both eyes by surgeons of RCoA and receive a monthly injection for wet AMD in one eye. My pre injection eye test on May 4, 2021 showed 20/20 vision in both eyes. My father had macular degeneration and suffered greatly from loss of vision. Terrible experience...I accidentally touched the checkout desk with my purse...I was receiving a call from another dr as my husband is having another amputation...the checkout desk girl screamed at me ...I almost spilled her tea...then another girl started screaming at myself and husband that I was mean and her coworker was nice!...started yelling about pandemic..we were behind plexiglass...at that point we left...did not make a return appointment...terrible experience

Dr. Itty is one of the best retinal doctors. His staff is friendly and professional.

Dr was efficient and kind. However staff did not explain the process to dilate my eyes nor did they tell me what to expect with my vision for the next few hours. I could barely see for the next 6 hours and I think that should have been discussed or some precautions could have been explained.

I am very happy with the results of my eye surgeries. Dr. Itty is Awesome!! Beyond Awesome actually...I could easily give my experience a 5 star rating but I feel some in the billing department needs training. With the insurance I provided them is included a Health Reimbursement Program in which the company pays my deductible. The person I spoke with had no clue what it was and insisted I pay because we dont bill 3rd parties. My feelings...my wife and I pay for this insurance, just do what youre paid to do.

I was extremely disappointed with my visit.My original appointment was changed to an earlier time because I was the doctors last patient...which was fine. But when I was seen by Dr. Kunimoto, he literally just looked in my eyes with what looked like a magnifying glass type apparatus...that was the extent of my initial visit. I was shocked because I was told it would take 2-3 hours, so I was expecting a thorough exam. When I mentioned it to him, he said I should be grateful that it didnt take 2-3 hours. I asked if he was rushing because I was his last patient. He said he would have done the same procedure regardless. Needless to say, I will not be seeing him again. I told the manager that I wanted a different doctor for my next appointment.

I have been taking my mother who is now 92 to this office for 2 years now. It is never less than a 2 hour wait time. Today we waited over 3 hours. How is that even acceptable? I don’t know what the problem is and I don’t care...there is no respect for the patient or the person who takes the patient. I worked for a doctor for many years and understand that at times you get backed up but this is much more than an occasional incident.In these covid times is it ok to have a full waiting room and be there for hours? What is going on there? Poor management, over booking.... very sad. I do like the Doctor that we see but it is not worth the anxiety and stress. The office staff offers no empathy either... if you use this practice be prepared to wait and get treated as if you are being foolish for asking.... did you forget about us? Very unfortunate that this and other practices are more concerned about their bottom line than their patients.

Fast friendly staff. Generally all office visits are under 1 hour. Me and my mother had the same procedure completed today we spent 3+ hours at BDP for her appointment but at Retina Associates of AZ it took less than 1 hour,

Dr Itty is an outstanding retina doctor. The office visit was carefully Covid screened and sanitized. I felt safe from the virus. The exam was thorough and I was satisfied with the outcome. The doctors morning surgery went long and my appt was about an hour late. It would have been good to have gotten a text or call advising of the delay.

I do like Dr Kunimoto but the office overbooks patients and I am there for hours. The office was extremely crowded with patients and no social distancing was in effect to protect against COVID-19. I have never gone to a physician that operates like this.

An update is that this office never reached out to me even though I provided contact information twice. If in doubt, they could simply have looked in my mothers file.Heres my experience yesterday. I took my 94 year old mother for her bi-annual appointment. We were both masked. The person who came out with the clip board of appointments took Moms temperature and marked her on the schedule. She told me I wouldnt be allowed to accompanied my mother, they would assign a member of their staff to assist her. Oh yes, someone would sit with her the usual 2 hours. If you believe that one, I have a bridge to sell you. There was a man exiting with a woman in a wheelchair and he said, Come back with a wheelchair. The B...... at the door said they were following CDC guidelines and even if I came back with her in a wheelchair, I wouldnt get in - different rules for different people. I believed that one, too. I told her I had accompanied my mother in the dermatologists office last week and she then said each office has their own rules. To cut this short, my mother didnt want to go in without me even though she had entered the waiting room. Mom told the woman that I am her Power of Attorney, she has a problem seeing and hearing, We returned home, I called the insurance company, they called the doctors office, and I havent heard a word from the doctors office about rescheduling or an apology. The reason submitted for my mother missing her appointment - she wasnt allowed in because she had a temperature. I took it immediately and it read 96.6. Our family runs below normal. I guess the door keeper thought out IQs were also low.

The staff is first rate, Dr. Itty is caring and very capable. Only the long waiting time (1 to 2 hours) mars the experience.

I arrived 10 minutes early and was seen rigaht away. The staff are always cheerful and helpful. I think there were only 3 people ahead of me and the whole proceedure was completed in much less time than usual. Dr. Mahta is always so pleasant and I have great confidence in him to take care of my eyes.

I dont usually go to this location. But Dr. Barakat was not available for my original appointment at the Sun Lakes location. The wait was long. But it usually is, even at Sun Lakes. What keeps me from giving this location a higher rating is twofold:1. After prep and just before injection, I was moved to a room off the beaten path and made to wait. Knowing it was off the beaten path, I stood in the doorway, as opposed to sitting in the chair, out of sight of the hall. Finally, Tyler, Dr. Barakats best tech, came down the hall and asked if the doc had finished with me yet. I said no, and Tyler went off to fetch him.2. After my injection, I walked up to the check out desk. The woman at the desk was busy, so one of the other women inside the area took my chart and made my appointment for me. It was taking longer than expected, and I couldnt hear her very well because of the other woman at the desk. So I took a couple steps into the area -- at which point the woman at the check out desk snapped at me that I couldnt come back there because there was confidential information in there, as though I was coming back there to read someone elses chart.Update: Ive been here twice since the first review. Both times were 100% better. I actually got to go up to the front desk the second visit, instead of being stopped at the door. Things are looking up.

Dr. Itty is the most patient and caring doctor Ive ever had. I trust no one with my eyes but him!

They are way over booked. It took three hours for a follow up appointment. I saw the doctor for about 5-10 minutes. I don’t know what their system is but lots of patients came in after me and left long before me. That were there for the same thing as me so I was extremely disappointed.
