My son went here a couple months ago for back pain. He has a history of kyphosis and fusion and is in extreme pain. He got an x-ray. That’s it. Dr. Steinke was very dismissive about the pain and offered no options regarding it such as:Rehabilition - there are all kindsEpiduralsNerve pain can be excruciating (I have it, too). Please don’t be dismissive about it. People can get x-rays anywhere and don’t have to pay $$$$ to get them.He wanted help for the pain, not just an x-ray. At least we can take that somewhere else, I guess.Got no help here and felt worse for the experience.

This was my first and last visit with this or any other orthopedic doctor at North Western. Dr Steinke was the worst doctor I have ever seen in my entire life. He is rude, arrogant, flippant, argumentative, dismissive and overall the most uncompassionate human being Ive ever encountered. I went just to have an abnormal MRI of my neck interpreted in terms i could understand. Instead what I got was getting talked at in a rude and antagonistic tone, the entire time. I went seeking help understanding an MRI that was already done and whether I had anything that I need to be concerned about or any actions I could take that would help. He even mentioned during the visit that there were other people that complained about what I assume was him because he couldnt help then thats why they are upset, let me tell you The reason why people are complaining about you doctor is your attitude and your treatment of your fellow human beings not of any help that you may or may not be able to offer them. I was so speechless and off-putt at the way my wife and I were treated at this visit I couldnt wait to leave the office. I now regret that I didnt at least stop to speak to the office manager to let her know my thoughts. Rest assured I will be calling their office in the morning. If you enjoy being talked to like a child, by an adult that has no idea how to talk to a child, by all means go see this awful person.

Dr. Steinke is a wonderful surgeon and did awesome with my back surgery and is just a all around caring and great guy. I would recommend him to anyone having back surgery.

Please do NOT see this Dr. !!!!! I seen Dr Steinke for severe pain in my lower back today. When I set the appointment up over a month ago the office told me to submit all my x-rays, MRI, steroid injections,  rehabilitation appointments, etc. everything from the past 2 years that I have had done up this day. So the dr could go over them before the appt. According to my family doctor and a chiropractor I seen, my MRI shows I have spinal stenosis. My husband drove me 1 hour and 15 min to go see him because I cant drive. He was supposed to be this great surgeon. My appt was for 3:30pm and he didnt call me in until after 4pm. This Dr didnt even look at anything I had submitted! Never opened up the computer. Until the end when he put some notes in. He didnt even look at the nurses notes! He spoke to me in a very condescending way right from the start. He then proceeded to ask questions very quickly, like he was in a hurry to get me out. Interrupting me. SO RUDE!! He told me to walk across the floor. So I used my walker to do this painfull task. He argued with me about rehabilitation dates that I gave him. Was very rude about it. He talked to me like I was lying about my pain. Then he said his opinion would be to do more rehab twice a week at his facility, NW, which is 1 hr and 15 min away. I told him our town has a rehabilitation facility but he wanted us to go to Northwestern facility.  Not once did he check my back! I will never go back to this Dr. He is not compassionate at all. I have been in so much pain since June of 2017 and practically have done every possible procedure and I go to see a Spine Surgeon specialist and he wants me to do more rehab...?? he is all about the money! He said since he didnt order all the x-rays,MRI, or  steroid injections , etc. I would have to start all over again!  Starting with rehab.  I would never want anyone else to go through such a degrading situation that I had to go through.  I cant believe he works for this hospital!  He is the worst  Dr I have ever met!!! He treated me with no respect!! I tried to tell him I have fell twice due to my leg giving out and he didnt want to hear it. Soooo terrible!!!
