I normally don’t post reviews, however in this case I feel it is important to share our experience to help others make the best possible decision for themselves and their loved ones. My daughter visited Dr. Gaffney after experiencing discomfort in her knee. She is 11 years old (10 at the time of her visit) and a great athlete who plays sports year round. Dr. Gaffney ordered an x Ray and an mri where they discovered a piece of cartilage broke off in her knee. His recommendation was to perform micro fracture surgery which is not an ideal procedure, especially for someone so young with a long time horizon of playing competitive sports and being active in the future. We ended up getting a few second opinions and thank god we went to Dr. Green at HSS. Micro fracture surgery was never even a consideration for him. He told us that it was fairly straightforward to replace the piece of cartilage and after 3 months she can resume playing soccer. I’m so thankful to say that she is feeling fantastic and her knee feels like it did before the injury. The purpose of this post isn’t to disparage Dr. Gaffney, he is a very nice man, and I’m sure a very fine doctor. However, i was reminded once again that not all surgeons and/or hospitals are created equal. When it comes to your health or that of your family, you should always get additional opinions. I’m so glad we did.

Brought my son in who had pain in his ankle. X-rays were negative and when Dr. Gaffney examined his ankle (touching and asking where it hurt) he diagnosed it as a growth plate fracture. Saw him for a total of 5 minutes and his office billed my insurance for a surgery charging over $4,000!!!! No bedside manner as well. Will NEVER go back to him again.

This dr is clear, thorough and took great care of mySon s broken arm.

Dr Gaffney is the absolute best! We have had him work with our daughter since she was a few weeks old and saw him a lot while she was younger and now only yearly now that she is older because of her condition. He is beyond knowledgeable, gentle, caring and so kind with the children. I trust him fully to care for either of my children again in the future.

Fixed my arm. Best orthopedic doctor ever! Dont know why some another idiot gave him 1 star. She never met the doctor but gave 1 star because coincidentally the receptionist was rude. What an idiot that person who gave 1 star.

Other than waiting 45-50 minutes for a 10am appointment, everything was good.

Terrible welcome, walked up to the receptionist the one with the big forehead. She looked at me like I had two heads, unfriendly never going back here.

Waiting over 1+ hours. Very rude staff.
