Theyve been my dental provider for years and Ive had many different hygienists and DMDs at Millhopper. Every one has been great, even though I dont floss as much as I should... I know.Ultimately, its up to you how the visit will go in relation to your dental health, but their team will certainly do a great job no matter what you need.

The evening and weekend hours of operation is very convenient. Nice, Clean, and Friendly Professional atmosphere. My Dentist and her Assistants were the best! Extraction done quickly and painless didn’t even know it was out. The Best experience I have ever had at the Dentist! I Love It Here!

The dentistry staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They worked us in the next day even though my son was a new patient. They didn’t keep us waiting forever in the lobby OR treatment room which was much appreciated!The only downside is they are pricey but so are most dentists - I would say they are competitively priced based upon the other calls I made trying to get my sons tooth fixed.

They got me in QUICKLY (within a day) & the staff are all friendly & pleasant. I was very impressed.

MH dentistry is efficient, CLEAN, organized and the staff are very professional. They are always on time. They make going to the dentist a pleasure!! I drive 1.5 hrs to continue seeing them because of all of the above. Highly recommend. I did not get any special services or offers for this review.

Millhopper Family Dentistry is absolutely amazing. My 2 year old fell at the park today and knocked out her front tooth. They were incredibly responsive and informative over the phone. Once we came in, they brought us back right away (on a Saturday). I was completely impressed at how well they handled the situation and how amazing they were with my daughter. My daughter was hysterical after the accident, but the dentist and staff worked their magic to keep her calm, examine her, and even make her smile. 100% would recommend them to anyone.

I was nervous about going to a new dentist after moving to Gainesville but was very pleased with this practice during my first visit. A few weeks later, they took care of my granddaughter in an emergency. I know it isn’t easy to examine a 2 year old who just lost a tooth but they were so patient and explained everything to us. Their knowledge and professionalism was amazing but the kindness that they exhibited to our granddaughter and her parents will never be forgotten.

Today was my 3rd appointment with Millhopper Family Dentistry and so far every visit has been amazing. Everyone Ive met has been friendly and knowledgeable, but specifically Dr. Spooner and Natalie have made me feel comfortable and actually enjoy experiences that previously Id dread. After a less than idea experience at a different dentist in town, I was ready to make the drive back to orlando every time I needed a cleaning. After multiple recommendations to millhopper, I gave it a try.The entire staff is very kind. Dr McDonald sits and explains tooth issues with you if you have questions. She takes her time with you and just makes you feel better (I was dealing with a botched crown from another dentist so I was in a lot of pain).I went in for an X-ray and Addie squeezed me into her schedule so I could have a cleaning done on the same day, which helped me out a lot. They also have good availability compared to other dentists in town. They were out of network for Florida blue, which was a hesitation, but it all seems to be working out. Even visiting them once when I was a new hire without insurance yet, the bill was not I’m expensive uninsured. Highly recommend them.

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! Not only are they open on Saturday’s they have the best staff and dentist. Steve my dental assistant did a wonderful job explaining everything and taking x-rays, Dr.Knopf was great at going over the x-rays and letting me know what I needed done, and Jenn the dental hygienists was amazing at the cleaning and making sure it was pain free. Make an appointment you won’t regret it!

Love, love, love this dental office. I have been going here for dental needs for over 15 years. Everyone from front desk, to hygienist, to assistants, to dentists are ALL so great, friendly, gentle, and professional. I just cannot say enough good things about them. Had first visit since pandemic yesterday to finish up a crown procedure and they were excellent with new procedures in place to make you feel as safe as possible. A++++++

I love this dental office. Theyre efficient with your time while explaining what is happening. Personally, they checked by dental benefits ahead of time and didnt suggest additional things that werent covered. Im also not one that usually likes visiting the dentist.

I love this place and they have such amazing service. No one is excited to go to the dentist; however, their staff makes it a way nicer experience. I recently switched dentists and I needed to schedule my appointment. I was greeted kindly with Marcia and she helped me get everything together that I needed and set clear expectations on what Was happening in the process. We were able to get my appointment scheduled when it worked best for me. She was very friendly, personable and informative. I will continue going to this location because of her.

I had an appointment scheduled at 1p, even received a letter in the mail confirming my appointment. They told me my appointment was at noon and I missed it, but I got “lucky” and they could fit me in. I called before my appointment about having braces and being able to have a cleaning. They told me that I would be okay coming in for a cleaning then they told me that they couldn’t do my cleaning once I waited 20 minutes. This has been a horrible experience and waste of time!

I went to Millhopper Family Dentistry for the first time today. I was very anxious and have a fear of the dentist, but they really put my mind at ease. I saw Dr. Spooner, DMD. He was very kind, personable and spoke to me like a human being. He gave me positive feedback while making clear what steps I should do in the future without being condescending or judgmental as some doctors can be. The staff is incredibly kind and courteous, taking extra safety precautions for COVID. They gave me the pricing up front, no hidden fees. Excellent quality of care, excellent dental care. 12/10 would recommend.

I called this office last Saturday morning with a tooth that was causing me a lot of pain. I was told to come in and they worked me in. I have had teeth pulled before but this was the best experience I have ever had, they all were very professional and pleasant, made me comfortable. I would recommend MFD to anyone. They take great care of my two children - so much so that my husband and I finally went back to having regular dental care. They have also always been there in emergencies. They just recently helped my mom with an emergency dental issue during the COVID-19 situation. They are the best!

I’ve been here for 2, going on 3, years and I’ve never left disappointed or felt like I was still clueless about things. The dental hygienist, Tammy, poked and prodded on my teeth but I left feeling 100% refreshed. The new dentist I saw was young and very receptive of the concerns I had. 10/10 recommend. I needed a second opinion after I had a basic routine procedure done elsewhere. This place is exceptional! Not only were they all very friendly and compassionate, they made me feel listened to. My wife called to establish my family. The receptionist was unprofessional and disrespectful. My wife was on speaker and I heard the receptionist openly laugh my wife for asking questions. Very disappointed, as I had heard good things of the dental staff. Would not recommend.

I cracked a tooth this afternoon and Dr. Knopf was able to see me the same day. Zoe, Tim, and Dr. Knopf were all amazing and the price for the exam was one of the cheapest that I was quoted when I called around. Fantastic care was taken to ensure my comfort at all steps of tge process. I cant say how relieved I was by the whole experience.

I was having serious oral pain. I chipped my front bottom tooth, (#20) i needed a root canal, a buildup, and a crown. I was in serious pain and they took note of that. They got me back quick and i have never been so comfortable during a dental appointment. I fell asleep during my root canal. They were always checking to make sure i was in no pain and i never was. They dealt with my breath and thats an accomplishment already. Thank you guys so much!!! I feel so much better.

I walked in on a Saturday with molar pain and they were more than happy to take me in that same day. Dr. McDonald showed a high sense of knowledge and professionalism in her exam. She showed great empathy in my condition. I had a tooth removed from her. I had no pain or soreness the very next day which is rare when getting molar extracted. On top of Dr.Mcdonalds skilled work, the assistants and reception staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend Millhopper Family Dentistry to anybody looking for a dentist from my experience and the word from several other patients who have spoken to me about the facility. Had a 7p appt for a filling. Got there and was told theyre running behind schedule so I have to wait. Was finally called back around 7:45 and the filling was done quickly so staff could leave by 8p closing time. Due to the dentist rushing, my filling was not done properly and caused a lot of pain for several months. Ended up going back multiple times and finally getting it replaced due to a mistake that could have been prevented if done right that first time.

I love this clinic. They actually dont even take my dental insurance but I still go here and pay out of pocket because of how great it is. After being told at another clinic I needed thousands of dollars worth of work done I came here for a 2nd opinion. They were honest with me and told me I didnt need any of it done. They definitely do not try to make a bunch of money off of you. Even without insurance it is an affordable place to go for cleanings. The office is very clean and the staff is friendly. My hygienist is also very gentile and sweet. I couldnt say enough good about this place!

I had somewhat of an emergency. I have insurance as well as out of network benefits. The care and professionalism I experienced was beyond words. The provider was gentle and each person working on me gave full and detailed explanations of how my treatment would be handled! Even tho they are out of network, I will use them. Some things are worth more than $.....

I have always had a phobia when it comes to dentists. But no more. Ive always paid big bucks to be put under for most all procedures but no more. This will be my go-to place for all things dental. Two major extractions at 7pm last night. Tonight its as if the whole experience was a dream. I cant believe what a good job they did on me. No pain at all. So, thanks to all involved. My days of living with pain due to anxieties and fears are over!

My wife and I have been going here for a few years now. In addition to our routine cleanings, Ive had an old baby tooth extracted here by Dr. Knopf a couple years ago (it was a baby tooth that I had sitting over an adult tooth forever) and that procedures was so pleasant and smooth. We had visited Alachua Family Dentistry for cleanings twice before eventually trying Millhopper Family Dentistry, and we just think the team at Millhopper is a better fit for us. Very pleasant staff, great service at great prices. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Spooner and the staff have been wonderful. I had to get a bridge and in the process of that another problem came up. They contacted Dr. Markham who squeezed me in last minute to do a root canal. They both contacted me after to check on my well being. Went above and beyond. They have late hours so I dont have to miss work which is very convenient. I would highly recommend them.

Came in for a simple crown replacement. The assistant, Steve, that saw me was very friendly and answered all my questions. The cost of the operation which took about an hour was about $170 which was a bit less than I was quoted at another place.

It was such a relief for Me to finally be in the hands of a doctor that actually knew something Dr Knopf is not only a wonderful doctor is a great person the staff is genuinely interested in your well-being theyre kind concerned and attentive to the patients Im so pleased that I no longer have to be stressed out Ive been to the dentist all over the entire world hes the tops and so is the staff I highly recommend them

This has been the best experience in going to a dentist I have ever had. One of my front teeth had a terrible cavity and a lot of damage I didnt want to lose the tooth and didnt have the money to shell out for a root canal so I kept putting it off. When I finally went in the doctor said she may be able to save the tooth with out a root canal. She was and I am super happy about it. Other dentists will recommend expensive services most people cant afford she took my budget into account and helped me as best she could. Very compassionate people with very reasonable prices. I will never go to another dentist.

Excellent service!!! Went there on an emergency and had a tooth extracted yesterday. I have always avoided visits to the dentist due to being extremely sensitive and have always suffered through each and every one of them. Not this time; it all went smoothly and painless. I have great insurance and have never been charged for a cleaning, this dentist charged me 132$ for cleaning and two X-rays... my dentist in NC never charged me... the least they could’ve done is informed me there would be this charge as I’m use to not being charged

Ive seen Dr. Spooner 3 times now and he is fantastic, Ive found my new dentist! He took the time to explain what was happening with my teeth and gave me several options of care. He was gentle, kind and understood that Im working within a budget. I highly recommend him. Ive read previous reviews about unpleasant office staff but that has not been my expirience. They have been pleasant and quite helpful each time Ive been to the office or spoke with them on the phone. It seems that the problems have been rectified.

I am a reservist in the Air Force and have to get a dental exam every other year. I scheduled an appointment and asked for an exam only. When I showed up they had scheduled me for a cleaning also. I asked how much for the cleaning and was told it would be $102 in addition to the exam (not sure how much that would have been). I declined and then they told me they wouldnt do the exam. These guys are obviously in the business for money, not to take care of patients. I was pretty upset with having my time being wasted. As a side note I went here 2 years ago (2014) and they wanted to do 24 x-rays on my mouth. Twenty-four!?!? I said no, of course, because no one needs 24 x-rays for anything. I got by with 4. Please start taking care of people instead of your wallets Millhopper Family Dentistry.

My family and I have been going to Millhopper Family Dentistry for years. My children hated going to their pediatric dentist. When I started with Millhopper Family Dentistry, the anxiety and fear they had (we all had) went away. The office staff is always friendly and informative and the place is ALWAYS clean. Ive had them pre-submit any services that were needed to the insurance company to determine exactly what they would cover or would not cover. This way I knew exactly what my out of pocket expense would be when the service was done and the procedure was actually filed. They do all the insurance work for me. I love it!!! Kudos for Millhopper Family Dentristy for giving back to the community every year with their Care to Share program that allows 100 individuals free dental work and with their referral program that allows me and the person I refer a $50 credit for necessary dental work, cosmetic work, product or whatever I choose to use it for. You really cant ask for a better practice with a more dedicated, sympathetic and caring staff. I will not go anywhere else. Thank you for everything you do!!!!!!!

The moment you walk into the office, you feel relaxed and eager to get the work done. My hats off to everyone at that office. Great place. I tried three new dental offices since I moved out of state but returned to Millhopper Family Dentistry because I could not find a better dental office. I would certainly trust them with taking care of my teeth.

My opinion echoes what several other reviewers have already stated. The office management employs very questionable business strategies with regards to insurance and taking advantage of the students in the area. Although my insurance clearly covered all procedures and this was handled with the office staff both before and after my procedure I was reported to a collections agency several years later. This is unfortunate because the dentists are indeed competent at their jobs, I hope that the dentists and medical staff replace management and improve their business.Dr. Douglas Jones

I went to Millhopper Dentistry after a traumatizing encounter with another dentist nearby. Dr. Kuhns was awesome and he reassured me that my teeth were in good condition and I had nothing to worry about. He was very professional and friendly. He even took an extra set of x-rays for my wisdom teeth since the previous dentist had neglected to do so. The staff at Millhopper Dentistry are trustworthy and I would recommend them to anyone here in Gainesville. Furthermore, their waiting room has a coffee machine with a variety of flavors to choose from and their magazines are pretty good too.

Went in this morning with a bad toothache only to find that I lost one of my fillings. Dr. McDonald and her great assistant was the ideal team to get the job done. The visit didnt even hurt my wallet as a walk in either. Needless to say I am officially a patient and will be utilizing their services going forward for myself and entire family.

Avoid!! While the dentists seem very competent and friendly, the front office employs shady business practices. I was told on the phone that they accept my BCBS insurance. I turned in my insurance card and filled out paperwork when arriving, yet was not told till AFTER my visit was complete that they actually were not in my network. However, I was assured that it should be minimal out of pocket costs, and to pay an estimated payment of what is not covered by insurance of $30. Weeks later, I received a bill totaling $400 for my cleaning and x-rays!!!! They demonstrated absolutely no empathy and sent me to collections after months of trying to deal with billing.

Went for my new patient appointment and everyone was very nice and quality work. Looking forward to being a patient here!

I feel so lucky to have found Dr. Gabe Spooner and the staff at Millhopper. I drive over an hour just to see him. Before visiting Dr. Spooner at Millhopper Family Dentistry, I had an unhealthy fear of dentists. I was facing very serious dental issues and over the past six months, he has not only transformed my mouth, but also taught me how to correctly brush and floss my teeth, and has greatly decreased my fear of dental work. He is incredibly kind and gentle, and he makes sure you are 110% numb before he starts! Every procedure he has ever done has put me at ease and he actually keeps me laughing through the visit. I couldnt recommend him enough. On top of his kindness, he is also a perfectionist. If I have an emergency, the office gets me in immediately, and always the same day. I have never waited for more than 5 minutes for an appointment either. Another plus is their referral program! If you make an appointment as a new client and mention my name, we will both get $50 off our visit/procedure! Excellent office, low wait time, and Dr. Spooner is absolutely amazing! I recommend them to everyone I know!

Having gone to the same dentist every 6 months for 18 years they moved to a new building and prices skyrocketed. I was introduced to Millhoper Family Dentistry by a relative. Not only was it a great experience with a very fair price i found out my old family dentist was doing procedures that were not necessary every other visist that cost serious $. So glad I found MFD.

I, along with my husband and 5 children have been patients of Millhopper Dentistry since 2014. Love our interactions with Dr McDonald she was a doll, an overall pleasant person ex; my 16 yo son needed a root canal for one of his molers and we couldnt afford the oop fees even with our insurance so was leaning towards the extractions options. Dr McDonald explained that she would be able to donate her time for the root canal free! Since my teenager had quite a few cavities this was a great deal for my family of 8 and I will forever be grateful to her for that. My dentist was Dr Knopf himself in which I always enjoyed because he would explain everything thoroughly and give you his recommendations for all his plans. Ive referred outside family and friends to Millhopper Dentistry just because of the warmth of their dental staff when you come in. However, their has been a change in the front office support staff since 2016. I made an appt on 01/04/17 for 01/10/17 and due to being one of their patients I got accustom to the ways theyve always sent reminder confirmations regarding future appts.(A tremendous help!) Low and behold they didnt send a the reminder and I forgot. Their customer service rep called about the missing of the appt and was cold and non-compassionate when expressing that I would have to pay a $50 cancellation fee. I later called to speak with the Office manager Amanda explaining that the reminders usually help me avoid missing appts with them since their usually after 6:30p. She explained that per Dr Knopf that the $50.00 can be waived if I prepay for my Xray and next appt. WOW!!! All the money that my family alone has brought into the office of Millhopper Dentistry( not to mention friends and extended family)$50.00 shouldve been nothing to waive considering they would make those $50.00x8 or 9! Well its been nice Millhopper Dentistry!

Ive had a broken tooth for about a year. (I was in the Navy had gotten a little traumatized by one dentist that really hurt me.) But, that broken tooth had gotten infected and hurt so badly that I couldnt put it off any longer. The pain started on a Friday and got way worse by evening. I was prepared to be miserable all weekend as I searched for a local dentist. And there was Millhopper Family Dentistry, open on Saturdays! I woke up bright and early and rushed over there and was fortunate that they had an 8:00 cancellation. I saw Dr. Spooner. From a digital X-ray, he determined that I needed a root canal (THE MOST FEARED OF ALL WORDS!) I was quickly scheduled to get that done on the following Tuesday (and he wrote me a prescription for the infection in the meantime). Come the day of the root canal, I was so nervous and I explained why to the tech and to Dr. Spooner. They were both very calming. Dr. Spooner did a great job numbing me up and letting me know I could stop him if I felt any pain. I can honestly say, I felt NO pain! Yeah, really!!!! A root canal with no pain! I had a few people prior to the procedure tell me their horror stories (none in Gville). Many of those stories involved having to get root canals redone. Dr. Spooner took several x-rays during the procedure to make ABSOLUTE SURE everything was perfect. I have every confidence that I will not have the same problems! That was all a week ago. I had my official new patient visit yesterday (x-rays and a cleaning) and, although they pointed out that I need to floss better (which is very true), they didnt berate me about it like many dentists do... it was more of an encouraging nudge. I left feeling great and eager to get my teeth in perfect shape! I am ecstatic to say: I HAVE FOUND MY DENTIST!
