I had a hair color just few minutes ago . I have been going to jcpenny salon for a while in different cities but i do regret going today .. this indian lady did my root touch hair color for the same price as i pay for full hair dye normally, by making excuse that she has to do my hair style and wash . I may go to jcpenny but never this lady . Instead of listening to me and what i want she keeps questioning me and telling me as if i do not know anything or its first time i am getting a hair done... really mad at my experience..

Horrible place. JC Penny you should be ashamed of yourself. The Stylist (if you can call her that) who cut my hair had no business working in the salon. Do not go to this place 1) place is dirty. 2) My hair looks like they kept a bowl and cut around that. 3) burned my scalp. 4) charged $50 for the worst experience of my life.My hair looked better in pandemic when I was cutting my own hair. This lady destroyed my hair.

Tyler is amazing, friendly, and thorough. Im always concerned that I wont be able to style my hair as well as the stylist after washing it, but it looks amazing. He did a great job!

Very poor customer service esp over the phone while booking the appointment. I have always done my haircuts for my girls and myself at JCP Salon. This time I heard about the back to school promotion so attempted to book for my son using that promotion. The service rep’s tone immediately underwent a shift toward condescension since we were asking for a $10 haircut vs the usual $30 and up ones. He put me on hold twice in 30 seconds like I wasn’t worth the time. The second time he didn’t even ask if I can wait, he just went ahead after telling I’ll have to hold. I’ve spent several $100s of dollars at this place over the last 2 years for our family. Never expected them to be snobs. Never again. I would rather go where my business is wanted.

Chanda Crane is the only person I trust to cut my hair. She is helping me correct a really bad cut when I had to see someone else due to scheduling.I go here because I need an affordable place that gives the haircut I describe and want... Chanda listens. She gives you the cut you tell her. She fixes bad haircuts. She fixes flyaways except for when you own a Jeep.

Horrible experience and I didn’t even get my haircut. I can just imagine how bad that would have been. I walked in didn’t have an appointment just said I need a haircut. The receptionist said 30 minute from now I have an opening. So I decided to stay in the store and shop around at Sephora. I came back about 15 minutes before my appointment checked in and waited and waited and waited. For an additional 30 minutes I completely understand that I am a walk in but if you couldn’t fit me in just be up front about and say “ hey it’s about a hour and a half wait” I could have gone and walked the mall and still been back in plenty of time. There was even a father there that asked the same question I did for his daughter. We had the same appointment time and he called and made his appointment ahead of time. A stylist was just sitting reading a magazine seeing all these people waiting. If you value your time go to another salon.

My. Friend went there for a short hair cut. You should see the way this salon cut it. I felt so sorry for her. They did her a sorry hair cut. It looks like they just took a bowl and put it on her head and just cut arount it. They charged her 80.00 SHAME ON THIS SALON. I told her when it grows out I will take her to a REAL PROFESSIONAL HAIR SALON. WHERE THEY COULD CUT IT LIKE A CUTE BOB AND NOT LIKE A CAVE MAN HAIRCUT. I TOLD HER NOT TO GO BACK TO THAT JC PENNY HAIR SALON PLACE....SHE SAID SHES NOT GOING BACK.

Had a great experience with Mai this morning! (wash/cut/blowdry) My hair was looking pretty long and tired, every salon/stylist I went to previously would just follow the same haircut I had: bangs cut straight across, and length cut about an inch off the length- yawn... but Mai took the time to look at my hair, the shape of my face, and listen to what I like and dislike. She made great suggestions for layering my bangs which now taper properly on the sides, a much shorter length, and tips to style my hair for more volume. I ended up with a beautiful blunt cut that looks great on me. I feel so great, and have had many compliments at home and work. Thanks so much Mai! I will be back.

Absolutely fantastic! Have been needing a trim for months, went in around 6 pm. and they had nice availability. Lovely girl named Miracle took care of me- wash, trim, blow dry, and styled my hair. She works magic with a curling iron. Ask for them to spray a dry wax product, and your curls will last for sooooo long. I got them done i the evening, went to bed that nigh with my hair down, and woke up the next morning to nearly perfect hair! They didnt come out until I showered, and they held up through running and rain. All in all a great experience. Next time Im getting my nails done!

I highly recommend going to see Rachel!!! Rachel was able to do the most beautiful balayage on my hair!!! The cut and style was also phenomenal. Prices are affordable and Rachel is excellent at what she does. My experience exceeded all expectations!!

My stylist, Miracle, was supposed to give me light brown highlights, telling me the lift was supposed to act slowly. I showed her pictures of exactly how I wanted it to look, which was highlights throughout my hair. She was talking to another stylist who asked what she was doing to my hair and Miracle says “Im just lightening her ends,” which is not what I said. She leaves for a while and comes back, unwraps the foil on my hair and explains that “it lifted better than I thought it would,” and proceeded to give me two options: it dye the ends darker to get the color I want or neutralize the brassy color it was. I dyed it darker and it was still not the color I wanted. She missed the style I wanted my highlights completely and got to the color wrong because she left the lift on too long. I ended up getting a refund and dying my hair back to brown. 0/10 experience.

Absolutely awful! I went in told the “master stylist” that I wanted icy blonde which meant almost white blonde with silver tent to it! I even showed her what I wanted! She told me that I would have to much bleach on my hair, that it would damage my hair..etc. I have always had my hair done with bleach and never had a problem till I went there! I was there for 5 and 1/2 hours and paid $145 for something that shouldn’t have took that long nor that much money! Total ripoff! I will never go back!

Absolutely amazing service! I am a very difficult customer who is trained in the beauty industry and have very high standards. Because of that I have struggled immensely to find a good stylist who does my hair the way I want it and who actually knows what they’re doing.And then I met Fiza! She was superb! Friendly, caring and attentative. She listened to every word I said, every instruction I gave and did everything I wanted perfectly!They were able to accomodate me immediately for a walk in appointment and their prices are affordable.She will be my go to stylist from now on! Thank you for a job well done!

I went at 4:30 to get my hair cut and waited 20 minutes only to be told that I had to wait another 20 minutes. It was a horrible experience!! The haircuts might be good, but the service is horrible.

Went in to buy a product. Asked for advice and all 4 of the ladies at the front desk were incredibley rude. Will definitely be calling corporate to complain about their poor customer service. I worked as a receptionist years ago in the flowermound location and that kind of service would NEVER be acceptable there. Very disappointed in this Instyle location.

DO NOT waste your money or time ! This place is a total rip off and you will get horrible customer service !! Their so called Master Stylist are fresh out of school apparently— first experience was two years ago when I spent a small fortune for a trim — master stylist, didn’t speak and ruined my bangs - took a good 6 months to recover ... fast forward to tonight- gave them another chance , my kids had Apts and went in for cuts and highlights — they wouldn’t even help my daughter - passed her around like they couldn’t do the work - said she had too much hair , her hair is SHOULDER LENGTH — my son asked for suggestions- she had no clue at all - so he decided to just get a trim to be safe - she cut 1/2 inch an charge him 55.00 - then 65.00 with tip — RIDICULOUS!! She didn’t even wash his hair did more than a minute .. then tries to buy product on sale and cashier had the nerve to ask “ IS THis It??”” I have never in my life seen anything like this - my kids grew up at JC Penny salon in old days - I miss the old salon — this new salon is a joke — prices are not matching with what you get and the whole thing is a scam !!!! Not a master stylist is they can’t simply offer suggestions or do a simple cut and highlight... JOKE

In short- PAY FOR THE SKILLED STYLISTS.Like DAISY! This lady has been doing hair for decades, and it shows. I have to say that I came to JCP and the girl who initially cut my hair was clearly a beginner. She couldnt shape my hair properly, add texture to my thick hair, or thin it out, so my hair made a choppy triangle silhouette when she was done, which I cant stand. Even with the pictures of the cut I wanted, she struggled. Another more experienced stylist stepped in at the last minute and attempted to correct the cut, but there was just not enough time, and it wasnt getting much better. I went home disappointed with my cut, considering that it was uneven and not really what I asked for. When I called back and explained the situation to the receptionist, she set me up with Daisy. I was nervous about letting another stylist take yet more length off my already shoulder length hair... but Daisy did not disappoint. Shes truly an artist. With each snip of her shears and each texturing stroke of with her blade, my hair began to take form into one of the 2 best haircuts in my life. She very skillfully and artfully carved my hair into the finished product which exceeded my expectations. Shes a Master Stylist- for a very good reason. She really is talented. I highly recommend her and will be going back to her even though it will cost me more. I know its worth it. SEE DAISY!!

The stylists are friendly, but hit or miss on work quality. The prices are way higher than other JCPs. Further they are heavy on the store product sales pitch. Nobody is going to buy 50 different products, let alone remember all that stuff🙄. Perhaps they get a commission, but its annoying and ruins the salon experience🤑.

We were here for in Texas from michigan for 19 days due to a medical condition of a family member. We had to leave home in such a hurry that I didnt have time to get my hair cut and styled by my regular stylist. While we were here, my very thick hair got out of control. I called home to my stylist asking her what she thought of penney salon and what does she do to my hair when she cuts it so I could relay tha info to whoever was cutting my hair at pennys. The gal that cut and styled my hair from penney was younger and had the young look style herself. I carefully explained that my stylist said take off a 1/2 inch all around, thin it and texturize it. Well, all I can say is it is day 3 and it is so short and frizzy I can hardly do anything with, pretty much everything I asked her to do she did the opposite. While she was a nice person, I feel she was trying to force a different style on me. When it grows out a bit, my stylist at home will have to take time to correct this mess! Not happy and money down the drain!

Ok so this is my first time writing a review ever..I needed to because i had 3 bad experiences with the people who works here..First : I called to book an appointment to get a perm done, when the day of my appointment came,I took an uber there..I live 30 mins away from this place..As soon I entered the salon, I went to the receptionist and introduced me to a woman who will do my hair..She showed me where to sit and I showed her a pic of the curl perm which I like..She asked me how long will I cut my hair, I said I have no plans cutting my hair.Infront of me, her customer,She said Oh Lord with a face that I would never forget but dont know how to describe it ..How rude was that..Then she left and came back with another asian lady, convincing me that they cant do the perm unless i cut my hair short..In my mind,theyre just lazy to do my hair..I have a very long hair .My hair is up to my waist.So I went home feeling down..Spent 50$ back and forth with uber..Second attempt: I booked an appointment 2 weeks later again with this place, this time to the hair dresser whom I like ,her name is Elaine ..The day of my appointment came, so I took uber again,hopeful that this time I will finally get my perm..So I walked to the same receptionist, and my favorite hair dresser Elaine greeted me and showed me where to sit..I can sense that something isnt right again..The people working in this salon only gave my favorite hair dresser Elaine 2 boxes of perm and that I needed 5 boxes..And while booking this appointment weeks ago I told them upfront that my hair is very long...Guess what, they dont have a perm solution in the salon that day..They have to buy it from outside and unfortunately that day it was closed..So my hairdresser was very sincere asking for an apology..Im not blaming her , but blaming the rest of the people i have encountered in this place..They are so very unprofessional...I went home again ,spent 50$ with uber back and forth..I told my husband what happened, and I swear he was so mad and we even argued because I booked an appointment again in 2 weeks for the 3rd time at the same place..I feel like I need to give them a chance..And thats beacuse the only person I like there is Elaine..She works well with hair and she is very kind...Third attempt: The day before my appointment..I called them because I needed to cancel my appointment, so the receptionist pick up the phone..I kindly said: Hi good afternoon how are you today? The receptionist her name maybe was Courtney responded..HuH? I said I was asking how are you today..She just responded hmmmmm.How rude was that?..So I said, the reason why Im calling because i want to cancel my appointment, she said well its ok, Elaine no longer works here..I was shocked..Elaine works there for years...I have no doubt she left because of the management...No one even called me to let me know,that the person doing my hair is no longer working there..What if I went there again the day of my appointment? Then they will tell me another person will do my hair.Obviously, I will not agree.Ill be so mad again because I will spend another 50$ for uber...UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!! I will not recommend this place.Pls go somewhere else who will treat you well...

My husband and I started coming here since he started working for jc Penney, they did good jobs with haircuts so I figured Id trust them with my color. Bad idea. The receptionist I called said Pam was great with color, first lie. I went in to get highlights, typically very simple. As she starts putting in my foils apparently my hair starts turning green, which she did not clearly communicate with me. After 45 minutes she calls over another stylist to look at my foils, she tells her its coming out and to put more on it, and she does. I know a little bit about coloring hair and Im pretty sure thats a stupid idea and Im starting to get worried at this point. She starts accusing me that Ive dyed my hair at home, which I had told her I had not. I had an all over color put in about 7 months ago but thats it. She sees Im starting to get worried so she takes me over to the rinse bowl and Im thinking thank god its been over an hour get this crap out of my hair before it falls off,but she doesnt, she just walks away. 10 minutes later she comes back with what I assume is the supervisor of the salon. It took her over an hour to admit she didnt know what she was doing. The supervisor told her to wash out the bleach immediately-thank you-and she starts working with it. Multiple stylists come over to look at my hair and no one has any solid clue on what to do. One stylist asks if I swim, well its summer so yes, and they tell me the chlorine did this to my hair. One stylist says this keeps happening and they need to get the right products to treat this. So Im obviously not the first person this has happened to yet you dont know how/dont have products to fix it?! Youre an established salon! Luckily the supervisor works enough with my hair to somewhat salvage it. Theres still some green and now red streaks in it but I guess its better than looking like a muppet. But my hair is completely fried and Im probably going to have to cut it off. Thanks Pam.

I first have to say that I love the stylists here. If I were reviewing just them, they would get five stars. Especially Elaine. She was nice, informative, a great conversationalist, and gave me a great cut. My 4-year-old son has also had cuts there twice, and its been great. My two-star review is about the front desk and management. Let me illustrate. My first experience here was to get a cut for my son. We had scheduled his appt with a designer (not as expensive), and we showed up to the appt, but the stylist was not close to done with his previous client. Apparently something had gone wrong in setting the color, so they had to do it again. The manager(?) said so-and-so was available, but she was a master cutter (expensive) and I would have to pay that price. I said I couldnt pay that price, and the manager and the master stylist bickered in front of me until the stylist herself said she was willing to take the original price that I had agreed to with the designer. Another example. I was sitting in the waiting area for my own haircut, and someone finally comes out (the same irritating lady from the first experience) and asks who I am here to see. I say Elaine, and the lady laughs at me like Im stupid, and says no Elaine works there and I must be talking about Eleanor. I said no, I mean Elaine. She goes to the back and talks and laughs with another women for 10 minutes before coming back out and says that there is someone names Elaine that works here who just started. Shouldnt she know who works there before saying otherwise? I would also like to point out that before the lady even talked to me, she walked past me to the front desk, stood there, the phone rang, and asked herself if she should pick it up or let it ring. She let it ring. I will use this salon again, only for the stylist I like, but just be wiling to deal with the unprofessionalism that is the front desk and management.

This was my second visit to this salon and pretty sure it will be the last. I Made an appt. for an all over hair color and while on the phone also confirmed pricing...which they told me the first time and also this time that it would be between $55-65 for an all over color. I showed up for my appt. today with Mai and I am not exactly getting the warm and fuzzy from her, but if she does a good job I guess thats ok. She tells me as soon as I sit down that the price is $95 b/c I have alot of hair(i.e, more than the 4 of hair her other client had) and will have to use more product(really?? $30-40 of extra product). It was almost like she told me b/c she wasnt interested in doing my hair to begin with....If I want to pay those kind of prices I will go to a real salon.
