Im writing this review on behalf of my brother. It took a lot for me to find a place I thought would be suitable for my brother and his wife. Through other recommendations I checked Mattison Crossing out and have been very happy with this decision. My brother and his wife are so happy here. All the people Ive dealt with from the managers, directors, to receptionist to the aides and all who work there, have been outstanding. Their thoughtfulness, kindness, and caring has made me feel so comfortable with choosing Mattison Crossing. This is not my first time looking into such a place as Ive had other family members that weve done this for and its the first time I can say this was worth a review for the outstanding job they do for your loved ones.

Elder care from a distance is always very challenging, and so it is critical that your loved one is in a facility that can be trusted. Mattison Crossing is just such a community. My dad, an approaching 100, is wonderfully and professionally cared for by this staff and very much feels part of the community and always articulates this to me when we converse. I have very good and trusted friends who visit him frequently and without advance notice, and the report I consistently get from them is that, despite being wheelchair bound, he is always very clean, well-clothed and well-groomed and always looking forward to participating in the days many available activities. He is a WWII vet who always takes great pride in his appearance, and so this is critically important to him and Mattison recognizes this and accommodates that need. His room is spacious and provides generous accommodations relative to the price point, and the food prepared by their world-class chef is excellent and very nutritious. My son is a professional pianist (Michael Drusdow--Young Steinway Artist) and when we visited Mattison the staff was very accommodating in arranging an impromptu concert for my dad and the other residents. If something requires my attention, I am notified immediately and informed regarding what steps were taken and what if any further recommendations need to be considered, and so communication is an extremely strong point of Mattison as well. I can cite many additional examples all leading to the same conclusion: Mattison Crossing is an exceptional value for the money offering highly professional, compassionate care, flexibility, and services to loved ones at a time when they need them the most. The measure of a greatness of a society is how well it cares for its most vulnerable members, and to me Mattison Crossing is highly exemplary in this regard. I cannot imagine my dad being anywhere else; the most important endorsement though is the fact that neither can he!

My Mom LOVES living at Mattison Crossing. She says everyone is always so helpful and kind to her. She loves Vicki from wellness she says that she always has a smile on her face and always going above and beyond to help her. She loves all of the aides but especially Lani, Jamie, Dolores, Sabrina, and Darlyn. She loves Rene and Ann at the front desk. Katrina the ADON is always so helpful and informative. She absolutely loves Devi the Executive Director. She is always telling me how sweet and helpful she is to her. As a family it was a hard choice to make putting Mom into a facility but we couldnt be happier that we went with Mattison Crossing. I would recommend this place in a heart beat!!!

My mom has lived at Mattison Crossing for the past 1 1/2 years and it was the best decision made. I know that she is in a safe environment and is so well taken care of.From the moment she moved in shefelt right at home. With the activities offered she is “out and about “ and not much time for naps! The staff is so kind and caring. If something is needed, I am able to call or email and it gets done. It has been very hard in the past few months not being able to visit but FaceTime was done with a smile. And a birthday celebration for her 98th was even made. There are so many employees that I have met that have been wonderful.Carmela, Vicki, Stephanie, Vito, Devi,Renee (always has a smile at the reception), Sharon and Cynthia.I would truly recommend MattisonCrossing any day.

I have been visiting Mattison Crossing for many years now, even before it was Mattison Crossing, and it has always been a wonderful place, full of kind staff members who know how to provide exceptional care and happy residents. You can tell a lot about the care a place provides by how happy the residents are. The staff are friendly and out-going and seem to genuinely care about the residents. What is most impressive to me is that the environment isnt like a nursing home but more like an upscale apartment community with plenty of space to get around, to enjoy the abundance of activities, and to meet other people. I would recommend Mattison Crossing to anyone and everyone. You would have to travel far and wide to find a better place to live - and to recieve care - than Mattison Crossing!

Mattison Crossing has gone through many changes since my Mom first moved in over 3 years ago. Currently, the Director of the facility, Devi, is great; she is attentive, caring and responsive. The recent and long overdue renovations, particularly in Town Square, look amazing and look forward to the day when the Square can be used by the residents. This review is for the primary care of my Mom. The nursing staff has always been great. In particular, Nurse Sandra is very caring and compassionate . Moms main aide, Monique provides wonderful care and compassion to Mom as well. Two others, Jaimie and Lani deserve a shout out as they have provided stellar care to Mom.

All the staff has been amazing. During these challenging times, I took comfort in knowing that my mother was being well cared for, surrounded by people she really liked. I cant begin to acknowledge everyone but all the staff is warm and caring. I would like to point out that Yamilla is exceptional. She is absolutely everything you want with a parent in a facility. Even though she is responsible for many residents, she responds as if your family member is the only one she is concerned about. She thoroughly knows everything about the person and interacts in a way that the person feels Yamila is part of the family. Whenever my brother or I visit, she makes a point of going up to us and sharing some detail. My mother can be challenging and yet if Yamila tells her to do something, she will do it - just because its Yamila. She never makes it seem like its a job - shes helping a friend. It can be embarrassing when a person needs help with personal self care, yet when Yamila assists my mother with toileting, she makes it as comfortable an experience as possible.

I have worked at Mattison Crossing for almost 5 years. I enjoy coming to work because it doesnt feel like a job to me it feels like a family. Our residents mean so much to me, we have such great relationships. They brag to me about how proud they are of their families, we celebrate birthdays together, and even help them get through tough times together. I also have great relationships with a lot of the families which also means a lot to me. If Im telling the truth I see my residents more then I see my own family most of the time. Our team is truly amazing!! Everyone goes above and beyond everyday to ensure our residents arent only healthy and safe but happy as well. They say it takes a village and I am so proud and honored to be apart of the Mattison crossing Family!!!

The care at Mattison is amazing! Everyone at Mattison Crossing at Manalapan Ave. is very dedicated to what they do. From the Administration to the Medical Team to the aides...everyone cares and is there to help. My mom loves living there and feels she is being treated well. She always says everyone is so nice! I am so impressed by what this facility did (and is still doing) to keep its residents safe and secure during this pandemic. Devi, you are so nice to talk to and you are doing an amazing job. You should be proud! My hats off to Carmela, and her activities, and trying to keep everyone happy with her creativity. Mom also has mentioned that she adores Alyssa and Jamie. They help her if she needs something, maintain her space and always make her feel special. They are very nice to her and keep her smiling. Mom has had a few incidents that required medical attention. I have to say, your medical team, especially Sam and Sandra, has always been there for her... checking on her, caring for her, as well as advocating for her when we couldnt be there. There are no words to express our sincere gratitude for that! So, thank you to all from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of mom!

My mom and aunt are residents at Mattison Crossing and would like to give a shout out to a few of the employees that make there life more enjoyable. Cequan, comes to their room with tea and a dance, which makes them smile. Mila Rose is always a favorite and it make my mom happy especially since they share a name. Jordan, Amanda, Delores Renee and Nypa are always willing to chat with them while making them feel comfortable when they need assistance. Their nurse Christy is a wonderful person and we know that she is their to take care of their health concerns and always willing to take a call from the family. Also, Christy from activities is always taking suggestions on things they can to do to make their days more enjoyable and fun. It has been a difficult time these past 7 months and although not everything is perfect, my family knows that the staff has their best interest at heart and are working very hard to make their lives comfortable and enjoyable. Lets hope very soon the families can get in to spend some quality time with our loved ones, while keeping everyone safe and healthy.

I just moved my Dad in last week but I moved my Aunt to Mattison Crossing almost three years ago. She is in Memory Care and my Dad is in regular assisted living. I could not be happier with the care they are both receiving and more importantly how much the staff does to make sure they are comfortable and their needs are being met. I also had an administrative issue for a while that was handled quickly by the new executive director. Devi is amazing and so is Tammy who helped me with getting my Dad moved into the facility.

I have had the pleasure of working at Mattison Crossing in the Memory Care Unit for just under 3 years now. The staff is great and the families are very appreciative for all that we do with and for the residents. We offer unique programming based on our resident individualized needs. It is a wonderful experience to work with the Directors; co-workers and outside organizations such as hospice, that care so much for our residents and show it in the care that they give. I highly recommend Mattison Crossing to friends, community organizations and family.

I would like to begin by saying that anyone reading this can be assured that I will not just fluff up some nice sounding words, because to be honest this is probably going to be a long review, and I would not give my opinion on anything I dont mean. My 5 stars go wholeheartedly to the people that come in to work day in and day out and give their best and smile, not simply because it is expected, but because they genuinely care. They may or may not always be seen by resident family members, but I see them. I want to thank them for the days when they have inspired me even if they didnt realize they were making a difference, not just in residents lives, but mine. This list by NO MEANS consists of the only people this applies to, but I would like to shout out a few.Lily from house keeping doesnt always say much, but she takes pride in making sure that the facilities are clean for the residents, not just to get the job done, but to make sure that it is done correctly. Sabrina, Krista, Lani, Cynthia, Jamie and Wisler are amazing aides who I have seen first hand extend care and compassion to residents as if they were family members. I know everyone who is familiar with them will agree with me.Despite any personal preferences on food, I know from past experience, the hard work that it takes to keep dining services running. Lorenzo, Cequan, Tony, Mariana, Donna, Kevin, Adam, Rob, Mercedes, Diego, Sonnie, Denzel, Amber, Louise, Jordan, are all wonderful staff without whom, there would be no dining. They get in early in the day and a few stay late to make sure that all food is prepared properly and delivered. Those in this department who do interact daily with residents even take time to ask how their day is going, and attempt to learn some of their preferences, even something as simple as what beverage they like. There are sometimes circumstances that cannot be controlled, but they always hustle to make sure that they give the very best they can. I am happy to provide specific examples if anyone must ask. :-) Everyone on the concierge team has pulled through for me in one way or another even though they are not part of my department. Shout out also goes to Dr. Jay Hines and Katrina who are strong and capable leaders of the nursing department, who are attentive and have a strong sense of urgency in handling resident health concerns.Last, but definitely not least, I would like to say that, the Lifestyle and Leisure Department is not just about playing games and keeping residents from boredom. We are at times, the eyes and ears on the floor, working directly with residents, informing nursing of any urgent matters that need attention to see that residents get proper care. We are the communication liaisons to residents in regards to up-to-date information on what is going on with current events, and how it will affect them. We are the voices that residents hear telling them it is going to be okay on days when they are not feeling like themselves, or simply ears that listen. We care about the activities that keep residents active, and healthy, and social, all of which are important components of a positive life, despite this pandemic that no one asked for. We are the events that remind residents of who they are and that they belong to an extended family who love them. I am thankful for Carmela, Amanda, Christina, Nina, Deja, Ella and Victor. Each of my team members have unique personalities and skills that make us a creative bunch, but most importantly, it is our pleasure to love and serve our residents.

There are four people who are exceptional and one who is very good, the rest are fair at best.MaryAnn Biggs can always be counted on to do what ever it takes to ensure the safety and happiness of the residents even when it is not part of her job. There has been several times when she was covering the phones or was the executive in charge on the weekend and my Mother needed something and no one else at Mattison Crossing could be bothered to help. In every instance she took care of the issue. MaryAnn should be running a facility and while I would not want her to leave she would make an excellent executive director. I would give her 5 stars.Sandra Bishara is a nurse who takes care of area where both my parents reside. She is extremely caring and good at what she does. Dealing with the elderly is not easy but she is always upbeat and ensures they get their medication and she deals with all the issues that arise. Sandra makes herself available all the time. At Mattison Crossing it is very difficult to speak to a nurse as the phone system often sends you in circles and it is rare you can reach a nurse or even leave a message for a nurse. Sandra has provided her personal cell phone so when we cannot get through we can reach her. If she is unavailable she always calls us back and takes care of all the concerns. I would give her 5 stars.Lani Hombrebuem is the aide assigned most days to my Mother. She is wonderful and ensures my Mother is cared for properly. At this point, my Mom can get confused and Lani always make sure is okay. My Mother adores Lani and it appears the feeling is mutual. I would give her 5 stars.Vito Olvieri is also a 5 star employee. When there is a problem, e.g., an aide stole my Mothers cell phone, Vito is the person assigned deal with the family. Even if we did like the outcome Vito was professional, helpful and honest. He cares and has spent much time trying to deal with my parents when things went wrong at Mattison Crossing. We really appreciate Vito. He is a great asset and Mattison Crossing is lucky to have him on their staff.Wisler takes very good care of my Dad. Wisler is generally very attentive to to my Fathers needs. For the most part they have a very good relationship. My Father seems to appreciate him.The rest of the staff in general is fair at best. The response times to pendent calls is often very slow. My Father on occasion has had to wait almost an hour for someone to check on him after pressing his pendent. Luckily, he was not having a heart attack, but the pendent system is antiquated and they do not know why someone pushed the pendent button. The pendent system in my view should be upgraded so someone can talk to the residents and find out what the issue involves. When we were allowed in the facility (before Covid) I witnessed a response time that exceeded 45 minutes when my father who is in a wheel chair and pays for the highest level of care had a real bathroom issue. They came only because I went to the nurse to complain. It turned out the aide was on a break and no one else was covering. To me this is unacceptable. My parents biggest complaint is the food. Both say the food is often horrible. In fairness as you age your taste buds change but the Chef should understand that and adjust the menu. The new Chef definitely tries. We had a conversation and he assured my sister and I that the menu would be adjusted for my parents, so my parents would get food that they like. I cant say for sure that this has happened as the complaints have continued about the food. I have not heard anyone praise the food in the over two years my parents have lived in Mattison Crossing. To be fair activities have had its up and down over time. Covid has made activities difficult. Activities led by Camila are trying hard. It is hard to review this area during Covid .I ranked Mattison Crossing 3 stars because of the employees discussed above, otherwise I would have ranked Mattison Crossing lower.

I have read prior reviews and felt the urge to write one for Mattison Crossing Because they far exceeded our expectations. We have been to 4 different facilities in the central NJ area and all places are not created equal. I have read the reviews online and can attest that Mattison crossings at Manalapan have made adjustments to the feedback that has been left. Our experience is NOTHING like the reviews that have been left.My mom is living there and is thriving since she the day she arrived. The first priority is that our mom remains healthy. The nursing staff is loving, caring and very attentive to my mom and her needs. They are on the ball. I can ask them anything at any time and every nurse knows what her numbers are and how she reacted to any medicine. They observe and know anything that changes. They take the necessary calls and get direction from the doctors. Simply outstanding. My mom is on a lot of meds and they make it look very easy. Which we know is NOT!!The staff is lovely warm and caring to everyone! They stay on a great schedule with the residents. It’s been absolutely lovely. The Director Shain and her entire staff are visible and engaged with the residents. Every question and possible concern has been proactively address. It’s quite impressive.Someone from my family visits EVERYDAY and at different times and the level of care remains consistent. Not only with our mom but with all the residents. The in facility is spotless!! It’s very well maintained and clean.Based on the wonderful environment that they have created at the Mattison, the excellent health care, the caring staff and the well maintained facility our hope is to extend the independence and life of our mother.Thank you every single person at the Mattison for making this very hard decision a lot easier by proving us with the peace of mind that you are treating her as well as family.

My parents both came to what was called The Brookside TEN YEARS AGO this month. My dad died 3 years ago, and my mom continues to live there. There have been ups and downs, depending on who owned the faciltiy, and who was the Executive Director. Right now, during the COVID19 crisis, we have been overall very happy with the way thngs have been handled. The place had always been immaculate, and they always seem to be adding something or re-doing something to the main builiding, the enterntainment has been great, and the overall care has been really nice- as with any place, some staff make more of an effort and are warmer and demonstrate more caring than others, but overall my mom has always fallen in love with a few of the workers there at any one time,. During COVID19, they seemed to do their very best to keep residents safe, to keep families informed, and to give residents as much freedom as possible while putting their safety at a premium. The nursing staff has been pretty consistently outstanding. The present Executive Director, Devi, is wonderful, and is very responsive to concerns or questions. I have only two reservations about the place- One was that we chose it initially because having a kosher place and one with a significatn Jewish feel to it was very important to us. This still exists, but generally over the years there has been a very gradual de-emphasis on this part of the facility and a loosening up of some of the more traditional Jewish emphasis. The other thing has been the food, which has always been somewhat disappointing, but particularly challenging during COVID19 when food was delivered to the rooms. We have been told many times that they are working on this, and have been disappointed in the past, but are hopeful that the present Executive Director, and new head of the ktichen will finally be able to turn this around. But when it comes to the most important things- social connection, cleanlinness and safety and health issues, and overall a caring environment, we have been pleased.

This place looks so beautiful everybody was sitting outside in the front porch it was a nice day staff members are so friendly and smiled and it smelled very clean! This is Assisted Living so not everyone here needs much care didnt come across like a hospital or nursing home at all. I saw so many people playing Bingo and they have a cute Cafe for snacks.

We moved our Mom here from Rehab 2 months ago. Everyone at Mattison Crossing has worked with us in every way that we have requested to make our Mom comfortable, and to feel part of the community. There is always an adjustment period, and the folks here, from nursing director to activities director et al have worked with us and kept us informed about Moms progress. Have there been bumps in the road? Sure - as we would have expected, but on the whole, everyone has been gracious and helpful to the max. Our Mom loves her most consistent aide and for a person fussy about food hasnt voiced many complaints. Were delighted that our Mom has found a home.

My dad is in Mattison Crossing Memory Care. He is always busy with activities which he appears to enjoy. The recreation aides are kind and encourage dad to engage in activities as a group or sit and play checkers with his buddy. Off campus trips are part of the program as well as walks in the courtyard on nice days. Maryann Biggs - the Memory Care Director is a true professional and a great leader. She is obviously loved by residents and staff. Dad is safe and happy for which my sisters and I are truly grareful.I just noticed another reviewer wrote ..Have there been bumps in the road? Yes as expected. I would agree to this. We ve encountered bumps over the 15 months dad has been at Mattison but staff has always been willing to work things out via phone or in person conferences. Thank you to all for doing what you do to make dad comfortable.

I loved working here but manager and her coworkers made me feel unappreciated, threatened me n walked me through the door because I stood my ground. Loved all my residents but no thank you as long as she is still there

Horrible, cheap management... count every trash bag, plastic fork, and knife. Offer no entertainment, unless you consider talking to your neighbor fun. Offer little food to residents, keep the visitors room dirty and without food, unlike previous management.

I am deeply disappointed in the cold and harsh way my mother was treated after being a resident for almost two years. We had a signed contract that indicated that she would be able to stay in assisted living until her dying day unless intravenous was needed. Sadly, that was not the case and when my mother broke her leg and was not immediately weight-bearing they informed me that was a condition of return. With most of her spend down gone she was unable to go into another assisted living and ended up in a nursing home way before her time. My mothers behavior was not always the best but they tolerated it until they saw an easy out. I would have sued if I thought my mothers return would be welcoming but realized the consequence of such action. Promised the moon and the stars and did not deliver! Extremely disappointed and deflated by the care for the elderly and the heinous way they are treated!

This place is a cash cow. My grandma lives here and the place is always minimally staffed, especially in the weekends. Food is mediocre. There is a van to take the residents on trips but only fits under a dozen people and the same people are always on the trips, my grandma never gets to go unless someone cancels, which is not often. Buyer beware.
