Just finished up my first competitive year of bodybuilding and they were my main gym. I really wanted to take the time to give a big shout out to the ladies that work first thing in the morning. Every single morning they were very pleasant and had warm friendly personalities. They know how to keep customers while working hard. That made my training experience all the more enjoyable this first year

Gym is nice but the morning customer service staff is less than helpful. Paid for a day pass and had to cut my work out short, so I asked if I can come back later in the day and the front desk girl had such an attitude and said no, you have to pay for another guest pass. What’s the point of a day pass if it’s not good for the day..

Worst gym ever. Provided my 30 day notice awhile back and still got an email from them saying that the 30 days notice starts counting once they receive proof of relocation. ( that is not what it says on the contract) go somewhere else they will steal your money…. I guess i will see them in small claim court. As you can see from the picture it says that you can provide a 30 days written notice and that all fees will be suspended once they receive proof of relocation. Doesnt say anything about starting the 30 days once you submit all the paperwork.

I love this place! They have sanitizers everywhere & you can wear a mask if you want but that is very hard to do if you are working out. Just make sure to stay away from people as much as possible. They have closed down some machines to help people social distance. It’s a gym so obviously you cannot wear your mask the whole time. Try to use it when you aren’t working out...like maybe afterwards or if you are just walking around.Jeremiah signed me up and did a great job making everyone feel welcome at the tour/showing us where everything is. Everyone has been really nice here and it’s been a great experience!

I had a horrible experience at the Fredericksburg Gold’s gym. I was duped into signing a 2 year contract without my knowledge. I used the gym for about 4 months then couldn’t go anymore due to some issues. I cancelled my membership but I kept seeing charges on my card for 2 additional months. I called and asked why I’m been charged since I cancelled and I was told I signed a 2 year contract so it’ll cost me $800 plus to cancel. I was not made aware of a contract. The guy that signed me up never mentioned of a contract.I contacted the manager of this location and he said unfortunately, I’ll need to pay up to cancel.I will not recommend you go here. It’s not worth the stress and the hassle.

Today (Jan 2021) was my first time going back to Golds since March 2020. To my surprise, their COVID guidelines are practically non-existent. Theres not even a policy on their website. I worked out in the morning and I saw literally not one person on the floor wearing a mask. The only people wearing a mask was the staff, and myself. It appears that they do not require masks upon entry, when youre walking around the gym, or when youre casually talking and not working out. There are also no signs that say to social distance or more signs to tell people to wipe their equipment after use. I felt so disgusted, and this was not what I was expecting upon my return to Golds Gym. Worst of all is that they wont let you get out of your contract due to a pandemic. I tried cancelling back in March 2020 and the only thing they could do was freeze my account for 6 months. I shouldnt be forced to stay in a contract during a pandemic if I do not feel safe. The contract was not built to take into account a global pandemic. Its Golds responsibility to make people feel safe and I feel like my services are not met. Also, other gyms do not require a reason to cancel. Unless you are comfortable being around an environment with no COVID policy and no mask regulations during these tough times, then I do not recommend this place.

Completely arbitrary contracts. They offer two year contracts that you cannot cancel unless you become physically disabled, move a certain distance away, or pay them the full amount for two years. This is in the fine print, and nobody tells you this when you are signing up of course. Seems like many people including myself (check reviews of Taft Services LLC on BBB and facebook) signed on expecting this to be a normal gym contract that you can cancel for any reason as long as you pay for the time you have been going, because why wouldnt it be? For a gym to have a contract like this is completely arbitrary and based on nothing other than greed. This seems to be their entire business model, since they dont seem to care that they have extremely bad reviews on every platform. Just funneling people into these arbitrary contracts that they cannot get out of for no reason, and just letting their very own collections agency deal (extremely rudely) with them. Merrill C. Hall, owner of Taft Construction Inc, P2P Technologies Inc, and Taft Services LLC (ShapeNet Financial) owns this Golds and several others in northern VA. I wouldnt do business with anything that touches this guy with a 20 mile long pole. Nothing they are doing here is technically illegal (that I have seen personally, check reviews on BBB), its just completely arbitrary and wrong.

This gym does not care about the health or safety of its members or their families. The owner of this gym sued the Governor of Virginia in an attempt to reopen during a deadly pandemic, appealing all the way to the Supreme Court of Virginia for the right to open his gym and endanger its members health and the health of others in their community. The Supreme Court refused to hear the case after the owner lost in Circuit Courts, because only a proper lunatic would try to open a gym in the middle of an international viral pandemic. This gym does not follow its own contract language required for canceling membership. The Contract requires a note from a doctor indicating incapability of using the Health Club. I provided the Health Club with a copy of Executive Order 53, which was of course written by a doctor, which proved I was incapable of using the Health Club for a period exceeding 30 consecutive days. This meets the explicit language of their Contract, period. It does not require a note from the Members doctor and it does not explicitly require any medical condition or physical injury. Ive requested multiple times that the Management provide reference in the Contract that explicitly requires that a doctors note be from my personal physician and require a physical injury or medical condition, and they have never responded. They have never responded because this language does not exist. They require a note from a doctor and I supplied a note from a doctor.Im sure if any response is posted here from the gyms management it will be a generic response saying that if I supply a note from my personal physician they will terminate my membership. I have already supplied a note from a physician because thats as specific as you get in the Contract which was signed. Show me in the contract I signed where it says In order to terminate your membership early you must provide a note from your personal physician specifically identifying a medical condition that prevents you from using the Health Club. Show me in the Contract where it says that. The fact is that maintaining an income of $60/month for an unusable membership is more important to this gym than the health of a 3 month old child, because the only way I could possibly use this Health Club would be to visit its facility and risk exposing my daughter to a deadly virus.Managing member: I stated the facts correctly. My intent has never been to change your refusal to honor your own contract, you made it clear that you had no intention of doing that, but rather to spread the word on every social media page available so that any prospective members were aware of your unethical business practices.

Now that we have moved to a location with no Golds Gym close by we need to cancel our membership. I have emailed and called relentlessly with absolutely no response. I understand that communication was limited while the gym was closed down but now that the gym has opened I find it unacceptable that there is absolutely no way of contacting the gym to cancel our membership. We no longer live in the area and need someone to respond to our emails and calls. Worst gym contract terms we have ever dealt with. Been a golds member at other locations the past 2 years and temporarily lived in Fredericksburg for a few months before permanently moving more north. We understand they are not corporate Golds, however, expecting us to drive 30 miles, which in the area can take 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic, is ridiculous. You cannot call them and talk to someone about cancelling, it’s all via email. So if you are looking to not have great management or not be able to get out of a contract for 2 years even due to life events (national pandemic, moving, life in general) this is where to sign.Update: thank you for the response, this situation happened to my boyfriend as I only visited a few times. He has since been able to cancel his membership by having to pay 2 more months and an additional cancellation fee.

Review update! May 2019! Go somewhere else folks! Here is HOW they treated our SoN age 3! (Review from 2017 also included in photos)Our family joined this Fredericksburg gold gym back about 2 years ago. People who works here they just works here, when you sign up they are extra friendly. Then after you done setting up payment then you on your own. Helpful level goes 10 to 5. Front desk usually don’t carry a smile never ask if you need a towel for your workout, you always have to ask them for it. But whatever, we mind our own business and carry on our own workout. However we sign up the whole family with the kids club promise to watch our kids while we enjoy working out. They will tell you it’s up to 2 hours max per day but welcome to come back different times during the day for more workout. Back then it was a different manager around 2017. Now they got a new manager Von. When we joined back around 2017. The staff who works in the kids club Won’t deal with your kids if your kids are hyper, acting like a kid, don’t listen, throwing toys or have fights with other kids.( the manager said we not equipped to do this, we not a day care we don’t watch them like that) the staff would keep coming to ask you to go get your kids. They don’t care if the two year old three year old just acting like their age. They want them to act like a 30 year old. If not then is too much work for them. Too hard to deal with. Then they come and call you to get take your kids home. Then lot the times you walk in and there were no other children, they all leaning against the table just talking and looking at their phones. Easy kids? Yes great! Hard to deal age? No thanks. Then we had our family meeting with the club manager and the kids club staff, manager? She is not about customer service, she will not care about your concerns. They all on the same boat, told us if this is hard for your family we can cancel your membership. To get your terrible family out of our club. We have never even met or know this new manager Von but the first time we met and talk she just goes our Kids club don’t do that, we don’t do this we not that kinda place for kids. My question was what do you guys do? We workout you watch the children, but no if your children is acting like a children they don’t like it. So then they banned our son Charlie from the club for one week and then said if he act up again, he will get two week. They already planned this evil against Charlie just turned three. The first 10 minutes he went into the kids club they came and told me he had a fight with other kid, he will get out for two weeks. Wow, where were you workers when the kids fight? They are under staff and don’t play with kids. Say they suppose to do activities with the kids and their age group but nope there was never anything for my son, they blame the children and they don’t like their job. My husband told me he saw these girls roll their eyes when they see children coming in. Great acting skill shouldn’t be working at the kids club, Hollywood’ never movie actress more or less. After the useless meeting with the club manager and the kids club staff, the manager sent ur an Emile to told us our membership is been canceled and it effectively immediately, told us not to go back. My family of three adults and we have two children. She push us all out just because they don’t like my children. It’s a nice gym but run by evil people. Even the chubby cleaning lady hate the children. With mean face and told me no kids allow in the women changing room, yea I’m sure she is doing her cleaning job and they keep such employees just to do nothing all day. If you join this place, you single and minding your own business you can still see they don’t really have a welcome face, but you not going to care much because you working out on your own. However we have children and they are the worst and we still deal with it for 2 years! Don’t join there is other nicer gym around the area we knew better we wouldn’t have join this horrible place!!!

Absolutely terrible experience due to one bad employee. I went there after signing up for a free day pass to use their facility. Their imposing fitness consultant, Jeremiah Marsh, was the one who gave me a tour of the gym. He was condescending, rude, and claimed I was trying to sneak in just because I looked young and wore my college shirt. Even after explaining myself, he continued to lob accusations at me. He humiliated me by making fun of how far I drove to get there and called me a liar. I tried to remain calm but with how heated Jeremiah was getting, I honestly started to think he was going to fight me for no reason. I normally dont leave reviews but the experience left me so shaken, I couldnt let the injustice go without making it public. I will never return to a Golds Gym if that is how they treat their customers.

Still disappointed with the women’s workout room. They just switched equipment from one end to the other and the equipment is still up against the mirror and on top of each other. They also got rid of the row machines. There is equipment broken in there that has not been fixed in over two years. I’m talking about the weight machines, there’s some weights that you bring down and the handle of those little weights are broken off and if you can’t repair them get new machines. What they should do is make an archway from the women’s workout room into the stretch room and add that to the women’s workout room and put the wall back where it was before it became the stretch room. The women’s workout room needs more equipment not do away with the equipment to make the room look bigger. Some of us women who are getting up in age do not want to work out with all the muscle guys in the open area so therefore it would be nice to have more than two benches in there and 12 pound weights also in there. Not sure what it’s called but they should have that four station workout equipment. This is in different areas of the open part of the gym and it would be nice for the women’s workout room to have that also. A note should be put by the entrance of the women’s workout room for people not to take equipment out of there for example: the benches are always taken out and aren’t put back. There should be at least three benches in there and also two ab bench machines. There’s only one in there. Maybe the stretch room should go in the very back of the newest room built, in one of the corners. The woman’s workout room needs to be remodeled.

I am also 23 weeks pregnant and cannot do a whole lot anymore as per my doctor. I wanted to cancel my training contract and even offered to pay... At no place in my contract does it say that I cannot break my contract at all and that I am absolutely forced to come train with other people (not to mention I have a doctors note). I spoke with the manager of the gym and she froze my contract but is essentially forcing me to come back even after I expressed my discomfort in doing so. I also told her that it had been 3 weeks and nobody even called me to say Morgan left... she brushed me off because the training manager claimed they did... they did not! The man who misinformed me told me he was giving me a student contract to sign, that my monthly payment would be $34, and that because i was a student a could cancel my contract at any time. Well, for some god forsaken reason this place is charging me $54 a month, when my contract clearly states $34 a month. I’ve also tried to cancel several times as i have moved and haven’t used the facility since June of 2017. I spoke to some British lady named Heather who told me I could freeze my membership for financial hardship and that any fees would be waived as a professional courtesy, but instead my bank account got charged $86?!?! And when i asked if freezing my account would add time on to my contract i was told no, which was a lie because now apparently my contract ends in July of 2019 instead of March of 2019... which doesn’t add up because it was only a three month freeze? The money I could be saving from not having a contract here would actually allow me to buy real groceries. On top of the mess of dealing with this terribly sideways company, the staff at the facility are extremely rude and do nothing about sexual harassment complaints against other members. I do not recommend this facility at all.

I recently tried to attend a yoga class with my mother-in-law (who is gym member) and sister-in-law (also a guest) using one of her free guest passes. We arrived at the gym around 20 minutes prior to class beginning because we anticipated needing to fill out paperwork/waivers. Our overall interaction with both individuals at the front desk was exceptionally off putting. One of the front desk attendants remarked that the other would have gone crazy at us if she had seen us unintentionally enter through the incorrect door. Then after filling out all of the requisite paperwork and providing them with our IDs, the front desk attendant told us that we were required to meet with a fitness adviser prior to taking the class (we now had around 10 minutes left before the class began and we had hoped that we could all find a spot together). The guest passes did not say anywhere on them that this was a requirement. When my mother-in-law politely tried to explain that we did not wish to meet with a fitness adviser and that we were only interested in attending the yoga class to see if we were interested in joining, the attendant became exceptionally condescending and actually leaned in towards her in an intimidating manner. She proceeded to repeat whatever my mother-in-law said in a slow and demeaning manner. She continued the interaction in this manner until decided to leave without even taking the class. It would seem to me that the purpose of a guest pass is to introduce new individuals to the gym environment in hopes of recruiting new members. After this extremely negative interaction there is no way that me or my sister-in-law would ever consider joining this gym and I will never recommend it to anyone. In addition, after witnessing the way that gym staff treated my mother-in-law it would appear that customer service towards existing members could also use some improvement. Overall, I was very disappointed and disturbed by my experience at the Golds Gym on Plank Rd.

The hours for this gym are terrible. Closing at 11 on weekdays? And 6,7,8 on weekends? How am I even supposed to work out? I work in a restaurant and get off at late times... when I pay SO much money for this membership they should be open 24/7. I’ve tried to cancel my membership for this reason and they refuse stating that I must pay the remainder $900 of my membership to cancel... why can’t you just let people cancel? It’s part of life. Sometimes people make decisions that they regret later on like paying for a rediculous membership for a gym that is way too expensive. I can’t wait for my membership to be over. Other gyms charge month by month, letting people choose how long they would like to have their memberships. I would give 0 stars if I could.

I always have a great experience at Golds Gym. You are always greated with a smile at the front desk and with a friendly greeting. The equipment is always clean and when they break down are repaired quickly. The Management is Tops in the Industry and Yolanda is always very helpful with any membership questions you might have. I have been a member for many years and have made many new friends at the Gym. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a gym.

I’ve been a member here for a couple years and I have no complaints. Nice staff, plenty of equipment and they’re open at convenient hours. I recommend this place to most of my customers in town as I am gunk they have the best gym in Fredericksburg.P.S. Seriously, the cleaning crew here deserves a raise; they are polite and keep this gym spotless. I’ve been to every Golds in NOVA as I travel for work and this is the cleanest with @goldsgymculpeper running a close second.

The environment of this gym is exceptional. Theres plenty of workout equipment and the staff is friendly. My wife loves taking the clalsses and theres so many to choose from. Wish they were open throughout the night but working out late/early is a minor preference. Its worth changing my schedule a bit to attend Golds gym on Plank rather than go to one of the other gyms in the area that might be open 24hrs but just dont have as much to offer. Love this gym.

I love this gym. The whole staff knows my name, responds quickly to any concerns and cares enough to pay attention to detail ... they know what I want before I ask for it most of the time. They keep it clean and if something isn't working ... It is the next time I try to use it. Very responsive. They have all the latest equipment ... anything you could possibly need ... you couldn't convince me to work out anywhere else.

Please beware of this gym. The are money hungry and your fitness is secondary. They lock you into a 24 month membership.. say that you get two month free...BUT you still have pay 24-months. The only reason I found this out was...I tired to cancel about what I thought was 24 months only to find out... I still had to pay for the two month that were supposedly free. If you arent paying extra money for personal training or other classes, they dont pay any attention to you. They often change class times and just leave the people who enjoy those classes out and say... try a new class. I have been a member of various gym and even Gold Gyms else where. This was by far the WORST experience I have had with a gym experience. I am so glad I cancelled my membership today! It may not look like it but there are other options in Fredericksburg that offer training, support, friendly staff, and overall fitness accountability. For anyone serious about their gym experience... PLEASE think twice about getting locked in to a membership at Gold Gym Fredericksburg!

I was a bit disappointed with my guest pass inquiries. I mentioned to the young man that I was staying for 4 days until Monday, May 30. I normally get the week pass for 40$ vs the day pass for 15$ a day. The young man insisted I do the day passes until I did the math for him to conclude it would be more feasible. The next day, I arrived with my brother and there was the Memorial Day $5 dollar deal until Monday, the 30th. I explained the situation to the young women working the counter and she was very curt and did not seem to want to even attempt a refund or ask a manager. The next day, I noticed a different employee and tried to ask again, this time he informed me that the $5 pass was only for Golds member guests. However, when I arrived with me brother that was not the case. I hold Golds Gym to a high standard and was not impressed with the customer service. Although I paid 40$ instead of the 20$, it was more the principle of customer service that was more upsetting.

Staff is not welcoming or friendly at all. Quite frankly, the cleaning people are more friendly. My membership was transferred from another gym. on my first day, after all of the formalities, I was never offered to be shown around or asked if I was familiar with the machinery there. But then again, the person probably wasnt making a commission off me so why bother? I believe today was my first experience with Natasha if I have her name correct. Black lady with long braids. VERY NASTY girl who appears to exude arrogance. She was working at the front desk and appeared bothered when I asked a question. They also provide rags and a spray bottle to clean machines. so gross and unsanitary. There are times when these rags are drenched from being used over and over, and this is what we have to use these to clean machines. Im sure the place is a petri dish to begin with but we cant have the convenience of germ wipes to use. We have to use rags and a spray bottle. All of the rumors I heard before going are true ! I can say I will not renew my membership unless the staff and the unfriendly attitudes change.

I loved going to this Gym, but the cancellation process has ruined it for me. When I signed up, I knew I would be leaving the area within a year or so, and the gym rep told me to sign up for a 2 year contract anyway, because it was No problem to cancel. After 2 months, and moving to California from Virginia, Im STILL not confirmed that I will be able to cancel, and was told of a $50 cancellation fee that the guy selling me the membership never mentioned and told me would not be required. This really ruined the gym for me, because the rep outright lied about it

I have experience a dishonest attitude by the management of Golds Gym in Fredericksburg, VA. They told me at the time I first went there that Curves was out of business (it was not at the time) and that Sport and Health was going out of business. They also tell customers that their pool is 85 degrees . I took the temperature of the water and it is 82 degrees. I regret joining this club since the pool at Sport and Health is 85 degrees. At Sport and Health they test the temperature of their pool every hour and they are very up front with customers about the temperature of the water. At Golds they write 85 degrees on the board regardless of what the temperature of the water really is ( I have been swimming there a lot and I know the temperature of the pool is not 85 degrees). The staff approached me in a confrontational and hostile way when I mentioned to some visitors that the pool was not really 85 degrees at all. It appeared to me that they really want to cover up the truth. It seems to me to be part of their attitude to say anything to get people to sign up. Also they do not have a handicapped shower with a bench while Sport and Health and the YMCA both do. It seem to me that they give the minimum of concern to the needs of the handicapped . Also I had my car broken into in the Golds parking lot and my wallet stolen. There was no video camera of the parking lot which again is something that would be protective and helpful to their customers. The facility is dark with no natural light sort fortress like. Sport and Health has windows and lots of natural light. It feels uncomfortable to deal with a business that comes across to me as tricky and who came across as way overly defensive about their questionable policies. I wonder why they had such a strong and confrontational reaction to my innocent remark about the temperature of the pool. If the water really is 85 degrees what is the problem just take the water temperature and show it to me and everyone else.

I was visiting from TN. I forgot to get my travel passes and Jeremiah was there to help. He went over everything at Golds, took me on a tour of their beautiful facility, and answered all my questions professionally. The facility is amazing. Im new to the area so I was in search for a good workout gym. A family member suggested that I try Golds gym because they had a free pass so that I could try the facility out. I was meet at the lobby by a fitness consultant by the name of Jeremiah Marsh. I handed him my Id and free pass and his first response was WERE DID YOU GET THIS PASS? In a very suspicious manner distorting his face. I was a little thrown off by his aggressive tone of voice and body language. He didnt greet me but questioned me in interigational manner about where I got the free pass from like I was a common crook being interogated by law enforcement, after I told him I got it from a family member that was once a member. He refused my pass because I had a out of state id and didnt recommend any alternative way to mediate the situation. I left the gym very upset about how I was treated and called the General manager to express my concerns on how her staff treated me. When i told her about the situation all she did was bandage his intrusive behavior and say Everyone loves Jeremiah like what I was saying couldnt be valid and continued making excuses for his rude and aggressive behavior. The Gm made no future recommendations to welcome be back to the facility or future chances to tour the facility. I wouldnt recommend this place my worse enemy! Stay away from this place unless you like being interogated by Juiceed up aggressive consultants and poor customer relation responsibility by management! I wish they had a 0 rating star.

This gym is my home away from home. The staff is great, the facilities are kept well, and there are a lot of options. Being an early morning workout person is a blessing in that there isnt a huge crowd. I do have a hard time finding classes I would like that fit my schedule, but that is more of a me problem, not a Golds problem. As with any large facility issues crop up from time to time, but I feel like the management handles things well. They have worked with me on several occasions with membership needs and have been very accommodating. If we could just get some of the clientele to re-rack their weights when theyre done....LOL

Dear owner, I wanted to take a moment to bring to youre attention the sheer number of complaints on billing issues at this location. I have been a member of 2 other Golds Gyms and I enjoyed my experience at both. I was able to cancel my memberships without an issue and I had no extra charges. I am moving to the area in the near future and I am seriously considering signing up to youre gym. I felt compelled to tell you that all these consistent reviews of youre billing problems needs to be addressed. As a business owner myself Im dumbfounded that youve allowed this issue to become so rampant and that it gives me hesitation on signing up there. I encourage you to review your policies and find ways to streamline the cancel membership methods. Dont get me wrong, i know people will complain regularly about membership cancellations at all gyms, but to have so many great reviews about the gym itself, to consistently get 1 star reviews about cancellation issues, you should try to do something to address this obvious issue that is affecting your reviews.

Dishonest about billing and lied about several policies, including our membership allowing bringing friends, while the desk laughs at me for bringing friends saying they dont include friends in their membership, because Golds Gym is too corporate. He said we signed up for a monthly membership, but it ended up being a 2 year contract because we trusted Jeremiah wouldnt lie to our face. Inappropriate employee behavior including the same person listed above screaming irately on the phone in the parking lot. Inconsiderate employees who just roll their eyes when I tell them the hot tub is cold. I hoped for the best but this was a mistake of a membership.

Dont try and cancel your membership once you get it because it is nearly impossible. I was told when I joined that due to my husband being military my cancellation would be free as long as I sent a copy of his orders. Well that was a complete lie. They told me later I would still have to pay a 30 day cancellation fee. So they took that out the same day. Now I have been moved over seas now for about 2 months and their billing company is calling me to collect payment due to my account not being cancelled. So I called back gold gym it self and spoke to a manager and they told me that military spouses and families dont receive free cancellation and that the payment they took out for my 30 day fee wasnt for for my cancellation. And after asking why I was told multiple wrong things all they could say was I dont know but your wrong. They were not only rude and disrespectful but neither the gym managers or the billing company can give you accurate information. The gym told me to call the billing company and I called them and they told me to call the gym and this went on multiple times, all they do is give you the run around. They have the worst service I have ever seen in a gym. For starters you need to communicate with your staff and billing company and get everyone on the same damn page to stop wrong Information from being given. Also you should never say that what your client is telling you is wrong. I know for a fact what I was told and that is part of the reason I even went through with enrolling was for the simple fact that I thought my move wouldnt cause an issue. All this gym seems to want is your money and they will find any excuse to say your wrong and get it. Not only that but the way you cancel with them is through e mail. You should be able to walk in speak to a manager sign a paper and cancel and not have to go through multiple third parties. I dont recommend getting a memerbership here to anybody unless you plan on keeping it forever.

The Fredericksburg Golds Gym and General Manager (Vonn) ILLEGALLY violate the Americans with Disability Act when they prevented me from walking on a treadmill with my SERVICE DOG of 8 years. The most frustrating part about this is that my service dog reminds me to take medication I need to take to deal with PTSD like episodes. Ive been attending this gym since April 2018 and walking with my dog on the treadmill since day one as a member, all of sudden and without warning on Saturday, January 5, 2019, Ms. Vonn told me, in direct violation of the ADA, that my service dog cant walk on the treadmill with me. My wife and I both served and retired after 21 and 23 years respectively. Im a 100% disabled veteran who NEEDS my service dog for my medical safety. Ms. Vonn stated that I could no longer have the dog on a treadmill with me because they were worried about my dogs safety. This made absolutely no sense. MY service dog was on the same treadmill EVERYDAY I attended the gym (three to four times a week) and never even came close to harm. My dog has to be by side to do his job properly. He is trained to alert me when emergency medication is needed. Hes not an alarm clock, he is a first responder in EVERY SENSE of the term.Ms. Vonn told me that the gym had a policy of no service dogs on treadmills. I asked for a copy of this policy. I was told the owners would be sending me a letter. Now, all of this took place on Saturday morning at approximately 0803 am. After participating in a cycle class and power pump class, which finished at 1030. I AGAIN asked for the written policy. I was told to wait that Vonn was in the back. Well, after waiting a half hour for Vonn, the police walk in and tell me Im barred from coming into gym any further because their have been complaints about my service dog on the treadmill. Vonn never mentioned complaints. So, for simply asking for proof of this written policy prohibiting me from walking on a treadmill with my service dog, the police were called and I was barred from the gym. Again, Ive been going there since April without being informed of said policy. In fact, my service dog and I were on the treadmill three days earlier (the last day I had been at gym before Jan 5, 2018). No mention or presentation of said policy on Jan 2, 2019. Vonn is extremely unprofessional and rude. In addition to the discrimination, this gym fails to keep restrooms clean (mens room toilet REGULARLY backed up and feces can be found on seats, walls and floors. They do a horrible job managing their online class schedule. For example, the online schedule indicated that power pump class would be at 0830 on January 2, 2019, the same day my service dog and I walked for over an hour! However, no, the class was moved to 0930. Several members showed up for the 0830 pump class and were surprised the class time was changed. Ms. Vonn took NO RESPONSIBILITY for failing to update the online schedule. Instead she blamed the third party vendor that THEY HIRED for not updating the schedule. She also, falsely stated that an email had gone out to all members. Neither my wife nor I received said email. Normally this would not be a big deal to me; however, after being discriminated against, and then retaliated against because I asked for a copy of this written policy and subsequently told by police I was barred from the gym, I need to WARN all disabled people considering this gym that Ms. Vonn does NOT care about disabled people, Veterans or her employees. Furthermore, neither her nor her accounts manager, Amanda, do anything to maintain this gym properly. This location is in freefall and will close in the near future with a leader who willingly discriminates against disabled people. My entire experience and faith in humanity has been shaken because of the cruel treatment I endured on Saturday, January 5, 2019.This is a house of discrimination against those who look different and are disabled. Please feel free to reach out to me and I will be glad to provide even more specific details.
