I was a patient with Dr. McClanahan about 10 years ago. I am hypothyroid and had fluctuating numbers and symptoms since I was 22 before I saw him. For the brief time Dr. M was my doctor, he got my levels to exactly where they needed to be. It was the best I had felt in years. He has his own lab and looks at all numbers, not just TSH. I even lost the weight I had gained due to never having good levels before I saw him. I was really sad when I had to let him go when I had to move from the area. Unfortunately, my thyroid care has been taken on by other doctors and I went right back to the up and down craziness of my levels that goes along with this disorder. They never test all the levels, but only TSH. To test all, I have to specifically ask and then, its an argument. It is sad that anyone has to go through this in any of the medical circles when there are doctors who do know how to regulate this disorder without having to do crazy diets or any other thing. Insurances do dictate a lot of how one is treated. I have read the reviews that said Dr. M does not take certain insurances. And that may be because they will not cover his personal lab expenses or whatever else he does. Medicaid can especially be difficult as they often only will send you to doctors they agree to and anything else is something you have to pay out of pocket. Its a tough game to play with your health, but it is one they do play. I currently have a granddaughter who has a condition where shes been sent by her doctors to the Mayo Clinic. The insurance her single mother has is not government issued, but thru her job. They will not take it. And that is the great Mayo Clinic. I really liked my time with Dr. Ms clinic. I would walk in and discuss my symptoms with the nurse and it was the first time I felt understood. Like I wasnt making up things. Dr. M also treated me that way. I highly recommend this doctor and the clinic for the very tough issues of autoimmune disorders. He truly is a rare find.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. McClanahan for years ! He is “simply the best”! ( He even called me while I was on vacation to give me the good test result news!) He’s smart - knowledge- as well as personable ! ( My appointments are always on time - no waiting - which Is a must for me) When I move to Florida, I shall travel back to see him.

If you have a thyroid problem go somewhere else.Attention to detail is a weak point to this office. They called the wrong phone number and left my name, test results, and other patient information on the voicemail. The phone numbers voicemail message was the default recording, You have reached xxx-xxx-xxxx so there was a catch for them to realize it was the incorrect voicemail box. Luckily, the phone number belonged to a relative so they were able to relay the information to me.

I have been a patient for almost 20 years. Dr McClanahan and his staff are exceptional! They are the standard that I measure other providers against. And NO other medical professionals are better than Dr. McClanahan.

Absolutely disgusted how my daughter was treated this morning. She waited 3 months for this appointment, only to be humiliated because she had Medicaid as a secondary insurance. Mind you she is on our insurance until July. This office refuses to take any kind of government assistance. It there practice, i respect that, but she did have other insurance. So before you waste your day, check to make sure you are worthy of this office!!!
