Carmel Village has been amazing. Having a parent in assisted living is not easy. It can be a super stressful situation for a family, both mentally and monetarily. With the pandemic added it to this, I must say the cooperation we have received financially on helping keep my parent safe and secure has been such a blessing.Thank you for all your amazing work keeping your facility friendly, clean and following all covid guidelines. You have really gone above and beyond for the residence, and their families.

As a professional in the healthcare space, Ive worked with countless communities and facilities throughout Orange County and Southern California. There are many options for families, some better than others. The way I look at it, Quality of Care, the happiness of the residents and the availability of resources and activities for those residents are three of the most important factors when choosing a home for a loved one. From top to bottom, this is the case with Carmel Village. Ive worked with the community since 2015 and theyve continued to innovate, improve their community and maintain the highest standard of care for their residents. Thank you to Cash, Brent and the entire team for keeping the bar high!

We are entertainers who perform regularly at Carmel Village..We actually perform over 300 shows a year all over Southern California, primarily for senior living facilities. Consequently we see a lot of good and a lot of not so good..... Carmel Village is one of our favorite locations as the residents always seem so happy and involved. Rose, the activities director, is very hands on and encourages everyone to participate. She truly cares about every single resident and makes sure they are included. Whatever level of participation they can do is welcomed. The Executive director Cash and his team are more like a family, who care about your family. Making it more of a home like atmosphere.. where everyone knows everyone and the people that work here are not just doing their jobs ...they really care. In fact over the years we have been made to feel that we are part of their family.. It is always a pleasure to visit and we are honored to be a part of the Carmel Village experience. Brad & Susi Q... I provide exercise classes at Carmel Village. The community is very welcoming and I always have a big happy crowd at my classes. They have a busy activity schedule including many indoor activities and trips out of the community. They also have a range of fabulous entertainers and regular events. One of my favorite communities!

Both of my parents are in memory care at this facility. I feel that the staff is very attentive and responsive. They have been very helpful in directing me with care issues that have arisen for both my Mom and Dad. The care givers in Memory Care are very sensitive and caring to all members on the floor. If you are looking for a place for a loved one you will not be dissapointed. Nothing but positive things to say. The Director Jessica is amazing and Cash Benton who handles the financial stuff has also been super helpful. I feel we are finally in the right place.

Carmel Village, and David Kuzmiak, their Marketing Director were so very helpful from start to finish, in making my Aunt feel at home in her new home there. David covered every detail, many I wouldnt have thought of myself, to make the transition as smooth as possible. I cant thank him enough. My Aunts first words on arriving were, Oh! Its so Nice! That is priceless to me! Susan Wight

I have been visiting Carmel Village as a Mobile Dentist for several years now to treat residents that live here. The facility has always impressed me by how attentive the staff is, the cleanliness of the facility, and fun activities they have for their residents. As a mobile dentist I visit many care homes for the elderly and would recommend this location.

My friend moved in there a few months ago and although the staff appears friendly enough, they dont really seem to take their needs seriously. My friend has limited vision and has no family in this state. He recently had eye surgery and I requested that the nurses put a protective cover over his eye before bed and no one ever showed. He gets frustrated very easily and they are aware of that, but act as if its no big deal. He does pay a lot of money to be there and I would like to see more care taken. PLEASE take your residents needs more seriously!

Top rate facility. The care is second to none. My mother-in-law has lived here for nearly 3 years and loves living here. The staff call the residents by name and the activities are well suited to seniors of all levels of ability. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone.

It’s not care for your family members. They hide diseases that get spread Around because of their denial. Scabbies , pink eye, bed bugs. Management that has no idea of what is going - Rosie and Jonna hide from questions from family members while understaffing so they can make more money. Don’t believe the lies they say in the tour of the facility

My mother has lived at Carmel Village for 6 years and contracted a bad scabies infection there in July. If handled properly, scabies is simple to eradicate. But, it has become apparent to me that Carmel is incapable of dealing with this. It is two months later and my mother is being treated for the 3rd time because she keeps getting re-infected. After my mothers most recent treatment, I stayed to observe how the staff cleaned her apartment. I was utterly haphazard. They took some, but not all, of her clothing and bedding to clean. Then they brought the clean stuff back prior to the furniture being steam cleaned, so it all got commingled with contaminated furniture, unwashed clothing and unwashed bedding. They did not follow up after her treatments to determine if she was cured, instead leaving it to the family to figure it out and take her to her doctor. Management was very dismissive of my concerns, and told me today that my mother is lucky that she has been re-infected only 3 times because other residents have been re-infected and treated up to 10 times this summer. They insisted that some of our Doctors recommendations for preventing reinfection were unnecessary. I have no confidence that they are dealing with the infestation on a facility wide basis. I am moving my mother to a cleaner facility as soon as I can arrange it. I am attaching the white-wash letter that went only to the residents and was never sent to the families. They dont even mention scabies or infection or infestation or parasites in it.

Money before Humanity. My mother lived in Assisted Living for 20 days. During that time, we found her soaked in urine and barely clothed at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon, her meds on the floor several times, and she fell twice. We increased her level of care to the maximum level, but it was determined by the Facility that the Assisted Living was not appropriate, so we were asked to bring her home or put her in their Memory Care Unit. We desperately wanted her in the Memory Care and asked (pretty much begged) if we could instead of bringing her home. We were told by the Director that since we did not have Power of Attorney (POA) invoked, that we could not make that decision for my mother. Before leaving, the staff instructed a family member to sign exit forms. My sister, who signed these forms, was in tears and distraught because my mother was very upset and we were worried about being able to care for her at home (she also did not have POA). The Facility is now saying that we owe the next months rent because one of those forms was a 30-Day Notice. We feel that they took advantage of a family who was feeling very sad and distraught in order to turn this move-out into our choice. Believe me, if we had POA, we would have stayed. Getting POA is a long process and actually took two months. Carmel Village has now sent my 84-old mother with Ahlzeimers Disease to collections. This situation is so disheartening. They have now offered to have us pay half of the months rent after she moved out, but it just seems so wrong and dishonest. I would definitely recommend a faith-based facility who is founded on integrity and humanity rather than one who resorts to sending an 84-year-old woman with Ahlzeimers Disease to collections.
