Dissatisfied with Dr Adkins and some of his staff. Billing problems, and non responsive if you question anything. Also, wouldn’t give me a referral to a specialist without an office visit for a painful, swollen, popping knee. Looking elsewhere for a better experience.

Horrible Dr., extremely rude and arrogant. I will not bore you with details, but the experience was so bad and incompetent I was able to get a refund from Physicians Health after filing a formal complaint with billing.

After seeing him for the better part of 12 years, his quality of care has been drastically reduced in my opinion. His receptionist is probably one of the rudest, incompetent person I have ever met, but she was no longer there on my final visit. He is NEVER on time for his appointments. I have waited over an hour many times. After all that wait, he only listens to your first 2 sentences and makes his decision. He then tries to change the subject to something other than your health concerns while he walks out the door. He never comes back in or bothers answering your health questions, the whole reason you pay to see him. He has sent me for lab tests that the lab people tell me do not exist ? What a waste of time. My best advice is avoid his practice because his quality of care is pathetic, unless of course you want to hear him tell you about his very young Asian wife and their child, on your dime. Terrible .

Had a severe medical issue one morning and called the office only to leave a message. Called 3 more times throughout the day until someone answered. Appointment was scheduled for the next day in the afternoon. Get a call the next day in the morning informing me the doctor wants to see me right away due to yesterday’s medical scare. I went to my regular scheduled appt and after my EKG, I informed Dr. Atkins about my disappointment in the phone system and as I was talking he walked out of the room and told the nurse to go listen to my complaint. I told the nurse no need to, just give me my referral for a cardiologist and I’ll find me a new doctor who cares about his patients. Down right rude bed side manner.

I was treated with respect by the office staff. They were quick to get me in once I arrived and I didnt wait long.Dr Adkins was professional and caring. I have nothing but good things to say.

The office staff and nurse are GREAT. Dr Hursel Adkins on the other hand is very rude and verbally abusive very disrespectful to the patients. And never takes one minute to listen, he even told me today in the office visited that I am losing my time, I replied saying sorry if you feel that way. after I had 2 different surgeries and went to see him to follow up he started screaming at me, I know, I know about your surgeries.one day he can be so happy and the next he is SO rude. DO NOT RECOMEND!

If you are looking for a doctor who cares about his patients, pease keep looking. Run from this one.

Dr Adkins is always willing to spend extra time with me and I always appreciate that. My husband does not argue about seeing the Doctor for routine checkups or when he is really sick and needs medical attention. We feel that he genuinely cares about people and making sure we stay healthy. Even though he has a higher education than most of us, he never makes you feel like he is better than anyone else. Talking to him is much like talking with a friend, very easygoing. There have been times when he was unable to help me and referred me to specialists. I am impressed by the level of care he provides as well as the attention he focuses on follow-up where he refers one to another doctor. I feel more like a partner in my care and less like a traditional patient. All of this takes place in a cordial friendly office setting which is what customer service is all about.

I have been a patient for several years and have been extremely happy with the level of care provided by Dr. Adkins. He is very knowledgeable and seems to pinpoint medical issues quickly. He found a difficult to diagnose cancer in my wife that even had her Oncologist ask us How the hell did he find this? He saved her life and I am forever indebted to him. He is a true life saver!!

Excellent experience. Called at 10 am and was in office at 2 pm. No waiting. Staff was very professional. Billing was as indicated. Dr. Adkins was great, very thorough and complete in his evaluation and recommended treatment. Count me a happy customer!!

This guy and his staff are completely incompetent mooches. I had no insurance several years ago. went in there to have my thyroid tested and I already knew my levels wouldnt be normal as I was born with a thyroid condition. Paid for the office visit and the testing. Then I was called a few days later as they had lost my blood sample and I had to drive back to do it again. Then they received the results and said I had to immediately come in (we had discussed that I would not come back in for a second office visit and he would tell me the results over the phone, as I did not have insurance and a low income). Well he then refused to give me my results over the phone and I would have to come back in for another visit. I refused and requested the test results. They gave me a huge run around not wanting to give me the results for the reason that there was nothing alarming on those results but simply that I would have to keep taking my medication. After I finally flipped a switch and requested it via mail, I received a letter from them cutting all ties with me as a patient. Thank God! I can find a quack anywhere else

Highly recommend to steer clear of this doctor. They will charge you for items that United Health insurance states they should not. Then, you have to spend months chasing the Doctor and their 3rd party billing company for reimbursement. Never in my life have I seen such ignorant health care provider.. SHAME.... I had to spend 30 minutes with the incompetent front desk as she does not understand the difference between Dental Ins and Health Ins. Even with United Heathcare on the phone explaining coverage to the front staff, they still look you in the eye and state that you are not covered.. The Doctor hides in the back while his staff argues with you.. Highly HIGHLY recommend finding a doctor that fulfills his oath to help people, not cause them frustration. STAY AWAY. I will be filling with the Medical Board....

We heard rumors that this doctor was really well respected and a good doctor however my wife went in to talk to them about whether or not they accepted our insurance and the receptionist was completely incompetent in regards to answering the questions completely guess well still be searching for a doctor here in Fort Myers

The staff is professional, kind and knowledgeable! Dr. Atkins is very pleasant, caring and competent.

He has been my familys provider for a long time, and he has helped us get in control and have a better understanding of our health!

The receptionist is an incompetent piece of work, tried charging my daughter 150 dollars when her copay was 25 dollars, when I called to speak with this Clarissa, she argued and gave different reasons for the payment so I told her I was calling web tpa and reporting her, which I did. After she obviously got a call from them, she called my daughter who needed to be seen and then had to leave because she wouldnt pay the fraudulent 150 dollar fee, and said she got in late today and saw 150 dollars on the paper and also threw in that she cant talk to me on the clock but off the clock shell throw down, real professional they dont even own up to their mistakes, just excuses and low class! Alot of complaints about overcharges, definitely a pattern, maybe thats how they get their bonuses?

Dr. Adkins genuinely cares for his patients and makes sure you have the best plan of care set in place. I whole heartedly recommend.

Was very disappointed, he prescribed medication that I was taking from another doctor thought he would cover me for it and I would save seeing two doctors, thought all was good. I had been on this medication for aprox 10 yrs. after third visit he told me the medication I had beef taking for 10 yrs was stopping TODAY Would not even listen to me.... I have NEVER been treated by a medical professional like this before.... Good riddance to a blockhead. HE WONT LISTEN !!Ill never go back I would not recommend this doctor to my worst enemy

Went there at 130 pm on wed to get paperwork to fill out so I can be a patient. Stood there while staff chatted with each other while sitting right in front of me at the window, knowing I was there. I asked tk be helped, for the paperwork. The lady got it together very slowly, handed it to me. I said thank you, no response. When I went to leave ahe said, were closed, Im locking the door behind you. Even though there door was open, no sign saying closed, online it says they are open. The lady seemed annoyed when i asked her for paperwork. Terrible service. When i left i left my paperwork unfilled outside the door. I will not go somewhere where they are annoyed to help you. They are a doctors office for gosh sake..

Been going to DR Adkins for years. Hes always helpful and knowledgeable.

Dr. Adkins is very caring, and has been a fantastic provider for me over the years! He is patient oriented, and is very flexible! The medication he prescribes me are very cheap, and he discussed with me the adverse reactions that my expensive prior medications were causing in which my previous doctors did not care to address. Also, the Dr. actually CARES to spend more than 5 minutes with me! It has become increasingly frustrating that other doctors will have you wait 30mins-1hr to only talk to you for 5 mins, then prescribe some ridiculously expensive medication. Dr. Adkins DOES NOT do that. He is fantastic, relatable, and actually cares about me as a person. As a loyal, content patient I feel as though this needs to be said.

I met Dr. Adkins about 10 years ago. I really liked his practice until today 7-6-16. I am on vacation and made an appointment to see him. I arrived 15 min. earlier. Filled out paperwork and waited 1 hour and 15 min. His receptionist called me to the window asking me for $100.00 Office Visit. I explained I met my deductible. She insisted I did not. I asked if she called BCBS and she said she did. I called for her and put my BCBS rep on the phone. The receptionist would not listen to my BCBS rep. His receptionist insisted on collecting $100.00 from me. I walked out. I would like Dr. Adkins to call me back to discuss why his receptionist would not take my BCBS. The receptionist did tell me they take BCBS.

COPD & Bronchitis He doesnt listen very well. He said he knew what was best for my bronchitis and jerked me around for over a month with the wrong antibiotic which was levaquin until I wound up in the hospital not being able to breath. They gave me the antibiotic I requested and I was back on the mend in 2 days. I told him that I had been using Avalox for more than 15 years with great results and that it worked for me every time in the past when I got bronchitis up north, but he insisted he knew what was best for me down here in Fort Myers and that germs were different down here! So needless to say he was wrong for two years in a row!! I will get a new Dr that will listen and prescribe what I know works for me! Which is AVALOX which is close to Levaquin but just enough different that it knocks out the bronchitis in a couple days and was developed for that exact reason. So there go- know it all.

RUN.......the office staff are rude, and dont know what their doing. The doctor, if you want to call him that, is incompetent!!! Just terrible!!!!!

Short wait times, Dr. Adkins is very friendly. His referrals arent the greatest but you could blame that on lack of specialists in the area. Also has news articles all over the walls about helping the poor get medical care, and yet he doesnt accept medicaid.
