I believe in almost everything they do for the homeless and the poor! My only issue is they help those who can help themselves which takes away from those who need the help most of all! To many grown men who have the ability to work but choose not to because they can always get a hand at Catholic Charities. The bible says if a man doesnt work he doesnt eat! Just an old Catholic mans opinion.

So the last two weeks I’ve been trying to get help from the Catholic charities for an extended stay program Raye who is apparently in charge of that will leave you voicemails but won’t answer her own voicemails won’t let you know what’s going on she reaches out once or twice and then she takes you off of the extended stay program because she can’t get “ahold of you” i call to ask about it and am told that this process can talk up to two weeks and then the next time I call I’m told that I’ve been taken off the extended stay program even tho I have left a voice mail two days after she tried mainly cause I didn’t have access to my voicemail. But she should not be working with people who are struggling with homelessness and mental health.

Do you guys help young families who are homeless find places? My fiancé, daughter, and our pups became homeless recently and my fiancé has a job as an assistant manager so I’m stuck watching them without a way to get a job, is there anything you can help us with finding housing? We’re really stressed out and we’ve been praying for a solution

A good place to sleep but food served is not fresh and is saved up to 3 to 4 days and is used again. No showers available to the females when its the only shelter for females. They even lie and steal from you sometimes. Even petty little things like charging cords and clothes then are later found in their donations bin. Staff ban people for small things giving people 4-15 day bans. Overflow people never get heard on problems.

My only purpose was to ask for food from the food pantry because Im diabetic and was in need. The lady got up from her desk, motioned to several FULL shelves of food, and says to me This food is accounted for. All of it. We have hours of operation and you missed them. The rescue mission Will serve dinner in three hours. Theres no food or hydration for you. If youre seeking a bed in our shelter, come back at 9pm. If youre too early, we will ask you to leave. If your late, you didnt want one. She walked back to get desk and began to eat popcorn and smile at me.

This place and their huge hearts . Understanding loving and helpfully humane. I was new in town and living in my car and also needed a shower. They were willing to help and go above and beyond. You dont have to be catholic! I just happened to grow uo in catholic school and look how that came full circle. God works in mysterious ways. Come to this place for human touch.

The policy on showers is criminal. In no other place, at no other time, could you get away with denying people access to facilities ALREADY PRESENT in order to clean themselves. AND IN THIS ENVIRONMENT, with a rampaging virus, it makes of every effort you take to encourage social distancing, to promote hand-washing, an absolute farce.

Glad that youre here but definitely need for improvement. Students are very dismissive and cold towards clients and lack the ability to make proper judgment regarding disability which can lead to maltreatment and endangerment of clients who are asked to leave in dangerous weather conditions especially with small children at 5 to 6 in the morning

I walked across town to eat here after being sick- I had not eaten in 2 days because of it. It was 93 degrees out and the walk had left me dehydrated and beat- and I looked it. My dog isnt great with other dogs so I asked if I could eat outside so I could be with him. They told me if I found someone to watch my dog I could eat I told them I didnt know anyone I could trust with my pup, they told me too badIts clear that these people care more about rules than actually feeding someone in need. The sad fact is this is common with services that obtain millions in donations in communities, yet use it to relish in megalomania and bureaucracy instead of offering any wiggle room for those that cant fit in with the exact order they impose. Then when the people they deny are suffering they say well that was their choice not to do as we saidSounds like Catholics to me

They do what they can with what theyve got. They have incredible volunteers. They feed and shelter us when we lose our sometimes tenuous grasp on our fortunes. Once, when I was cold, a young volunteer literally gave me the shirt off his back...it changed my life. They help change lives, if youre ready for it.

I’ve been going here a few months now and some things are really off about this place. Some staff/volunteers eat before the needy. I do like that they have a chore list for people to sign up for if they want to help and get a second helping of food but being that it’s a charity all chores must be signed up before they allow people in to eat. Not a great way to help people out when they are hungry! Food sucks and not a thought goes into if people have teeth and can’t eat anything hardShould be 0 stars.Look at reviews as of this post 90 with 19 of them being a 1 star that’s almost 25%. someone higher up in the program needs to open their eyes and earsCassAn’s review hit it on the head

Two previous reviewers described this place pretty accurately. The people who work here dont care. Theyre hypocrites. They look for excuses to kick people out before they get back on their feet, kids or no. The food is barely edible. The bathrooms are disgusting due to lack of adequate cleaning supplies. Its a place to go if you really need it. Seriously, though, just pitch a tent somewhere. Youll be better off.Oh, and dont forget the bed bug infestations that they dont do jack about. Lovely.

I went there to donate my used items and have been for a long time. The main they give the community is hope. Please love the Catholic Charities Mission Shelter...the non-profit organization that works within this small building has a very small professional staff. They are all dedicated and compassionate to the guests they serve. They rely on MANY volunteers everyday and are very patient to greet them and explain duties needed to be carried out: managing the upkeep of the facility, preparation of the daily lunch thats open to anyone whos hungry (they serve 100+ people, 7 days a week!). Yes, after reading other posts I will say it takes some effort on the part of a homeless individual or family to obtain an assigned bed. Every night there are overflow beds open to those that come looking for a nights shelter...more people than there are beds, so not all are able to find a spot. And, yes, you must exit the property at an early hour..its not a hotel. But there are valuable resources to be mined by all guests...and those that wish to apply themselves to the resident program are able to learn info and gain skills that will bring them closer to not being homeless. Volunteer your hands in the morning if youre able...help a team prepare lunch (ex.; chopping veggies, stirring a pot on the stove, rinsing utensils, or wiping off the dining tables, etc.) and you will meet other volunteers and have a very rewarding experience.

I went here to get help paying my utilities bill after our electric was turned off. The purple that helped me were incredibly caring and kind, and explained the entire process so well that I had no need to ask any questions. They got my family approved for assistance in no time at all, and I was just completely amazed and thankful for all they did for us. Im disabled, and my husband and I have a child, so having the electric shut off (meaning no air conditioning) in the brutal heat of summer was devastating. My husband had lost his job, and things were just horrible. So to have them not only help us in our time of need, but also being so caring and wonderful was a true godsend. They even let me know about their other services, and asked me questions so that they could offer any helpful advice they had for our situation. I dont know where wed be without them.

Always help charities regardless of their Dogma! These people help alot of people. However. This particular Catholic Charities is not great. Its run by very mean very judging very discriminative people. It is also the first and last emergency option. Knowing this I think its exploited. For some reason they do anoottery for the homeless here. A kind of pick your fate thing but wont let anyone draw for the lottery until 10 pm. And this is after theyve already filled several beds up with people who have promised to work for their stay around 5pm. The food is unregulated and often people get food poisoning from it. No seconds are allowed unless your willing to work. And infact no meals are allowed unless they can find twenty or more volunteers teers to work. Yet they are fully staffed they have and entire crew and volunteers from the community that come in and help they have project funding they have funds from the community they have hedge funding they have funding from the government and funding from the Catholic Church. Yet they dont have enough help? The people they are working are little more then children and seniors and people with conditions that vary from alcoholism to arthritis to gout and diabetes and more none of those that work are ever asked for more information or if they are physically able often people are designated jobs at random when no one will sign up often all this accompanied by harrassment from staff yelling and coercing from all sides. I think thats wrong. I think its wrong to exploit people knowing they have to eat and sleep a d have nowhere to go. They have no room yet have more then enough funding to build more room. There is an empty field across from them that can be given to them for such a purpose. Along time ago Catholic charities acted as a year round drop in center they claim to be still but its not true. Go and hang out there for a couple days randomly without telling them your coming anyone from the community. I promise youll see what Ive mentioned and more. Everytime me or anyone trys to do a review they delete our reviews also its all very hush hush. Im not even homeless but I do find it a personal mission to make sure that everyone has love and light in their lives and that their lives are fair and meaningful. I appreciate the notions and the reasons that these people are there but I dont believe they are truly doing what they have been called to do and I believe that do so some major changes must first place take place within them as an entity

Ask us about the private life of a certain volunteer. Hypocrite...most are. The John Smith review is absolutely the mindset of what you will deal with if you are fortunately unfortunate to deal with this lot of sick, sad nazis. still, if you absolutely need overnight shelter, suppose this is your best bet..actually, a hospital - make something up. or a dry drainage tunnel near a dumpster would be better. good luck.
