DO NOT GO HERE FOR SURGERY!!! I needed to get the bariatric surgery last year. I had nothing but issues since day one! I was told to call Michelle Carpenter to get it all started. She told me that unless I did the Nutritionist with their system which was $$20.00 each session and their was 5 - 6 sessions, it would not be considered toward the surgery. My Dr. is with Banner Health and it was free to go through Banner, and they then submit it to UC Health. The Ft. Collins center was not helpful at all. Michelle Carpenter told me, word for word that, she didnt think I could handle going through the process to do the surgery. I was stunned. I was told by Michelle Carpenter that I would need to quit smoking for 6 months before they would do the surgery. I quit smoking for 7 months and went in to meet with the surgeon, (who I never got to meet) and told Becki Mudget i was wanting to get the gastric bypass surgery and not the sleeve. For whatever reason she got very upset and told me to do the sleeve. I told Becki that I would have much rather have the gastric bypass and my reasons why. She then said that they wont do the bypass because I was a smoker. I informed Becki that I quit for 7 months and that I was told at least 6 months i had to be smoke free. Becki then proceeds to tell me that the surgeons for bariatric surgeries in Ft. Collins, no matter which one was to do the surgery, would not do the gastric bypass because I WAS a smoker even though I quit 7 months. She said they would NOT even consider doing the bypass, only the sleeve. Becki then tells me that I would need to quit smoking for at least a year before any of the surgeons in Ft. Collins would even maybe consider doing the bypass, but even then its a slim chance because I used to smoke. Becki told me she would ask the surgeon, but be wont do it. I told her to go ask him, she left and came back within 3 minutes and told me that the sleeve was the only option. My friend was with me in this appointment and is a witness to all this. I told Becki that Ill need to go elsewhere to proceed with my surgery. Becki tears out my medical file out of the folder it was in and handed me my thick Medical file. And off I went. I wouldnt trust the Ft. Collins department. They were a great waist of my time. This bariatric location is a joke. Please fo yourself a favor and go to Anschutz in Aurora. These people really do care.

They are excellent before and for many years after weight loss surgery.
