Deborah Fenton-Nichols has helped me grow into a better rounded therapist while working towards my LAC. Her years of experience have helped me with ideas for my clients when Im stuck. She also has a lot of knowledge in the field of therapy and substances that has helped even a seasoned therapist.

I have worked with Dr. Fenton-Nichols in a professional capacity for close to five years. During that time period she has demonstrated integrity, morality, professionalism, and ethical standards for herself as well as anyone who works with her. She has consistently offered sound advise as a supervisor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Professor of Higher Education, and colleague. She is always available to the people she supervises, day or night to help guide them through new situations, hard situations, any situation really. Dr. Fenton- Nichols is above reproach, she continues to go above and beyond for the betterment of the Counseling/Mental Health Profession. She is always up to date on current and new laws and ethical standards. Thanks to her and her determination many students and supervisees have grown into capable, forward thinking, well rounded counselors.

Dr. Fenton-Nichols has been my supervisor for almost two years now. Our professional relationship began when I graduated from Colorado Christian University, where she was one of my professors. At CCU, Dr. Nichols is highly regarded and respected so I felt confident that she would be a great choice for a supervisor. I find her supervision to be ethical and grounded in practices required by Colorados mental health statutes. She knows these requirements well and doesnt hesitate to mention them in our sessions. Dr. Nichols is always quick to answer my questions, she follows up on any ongoing issues I have with my clients, and she is pleasant to work with. If youre considering working with her as a supervisor, I know you wont regret it. I highly recommend Dr. Fenton-Nichols. Knowing that shes such a knowledgeable supervisor and professor, I also know she has a great reputation as a counselor.

Review №5

She was hired for Colorado Mental Health Supervision Services. She failed to understand basic professional business practices/standards, and consumer rights/laws. Poor communication skills (i.e., used PhD power/authority to quickly find fault; talks over or down; accuse-attack; Im right your wrong, and dont challenge me). Grossly legally misinformed/uninformed (e.g., Colorado state counseling vs. coaching laws). Failed to provide services required by her own supervision contract, Colorado Mental Health Practice Act, DORA, and ACA Code of Ethics. Failed to understand scope/depth of Counseling-Psychotherapy legal definition. Failed to recognize client context and therapeutic needs , or utilize Kitcheners ethical decision making model. She is an in-the-box thinker, and/or classic 20th century PhD text-book educator, who is legally aloof, and out of touch with 21st century Best Practices.
