I recently had occasion to visit the hematology clinic at UC Health in Fort Collins. The experience was first rate. Every member of the staff welcomed me and put me at ease. They were friendly and professional. Dr. Mathew asked a lot of questions and was very thorough. She really tried to understand my health situation so that she could properly treat my symptoms. She did not talk at me but rather invited my participation. I’ve seen the UC Health mission statement and can say without question that it lives up to it and “walks the walk.” When it comes to patient care, UC Health is excellent.

Reading others reviews and wishing I had a similar experience. This will be a lengthy review but worth it if you are coming in as a new patient for a Hematology consult.I came in as a new patient yesterday and have just been incredibly bothered since I left this clinic. Fort Collins Weight Loss Clinic referred me to my primary for high liver enzymes. But it was my rheumatologist referred me to hematology for 3 things: repeatedly (but only mildly) high white blood cell count, high platelets, and high liver enzymes w/ no apparent reason. I am 33 years old, I have previous history of ovarian cancer stage 1a in 2014, and have been in surgical menopause going on three years now. Yes, I am too young to have any real problems but I was also too young for ovarian cancer. HOWEVER-I am fine, and feel fine other than slightly overweight -I consider myself healthy-My ONLY and BIGGEST symptom currently that developed AFTER I started seeing my primary for the liver enzymes is EXCESSIVE night sweating. Like drench my sheets and have to shower every single morning despite sleeping directly in front of the air conditioner as well as a fan. For about 2 months now.Cue Dr. Lynn walking in. She was running late according to her, so I figured thats why she seemed to literally have ZERO idea why I was even there. She asked some questions but mostly- I would say something and that would prompt her to go look at my record. She stated that she wanted to show me my flow cytometry result that my primary ran and stated that I didnt have cancer-..Ok, first of all, I can read my results, already saw that-NEVER thought I had cancer-and NEVER ASKED to come to hematology-I was referred and just following a different doctors medical advice in being seen. High white counts is nothing new for me either. BUT I know what is normal and what is not normal. I know that I have experienced menopausal hot flashes since 4 months after surgery. These are a come and go hence flashes. BUT she attributed my all night long, drenching night sweats to menopause. Literally told me the symptoms just started because I still had estrogen in my body and it was finally out. UM WHAT?!?! I did not gradually go into menopause like most women. My last ovary was surgically removed and symptoms started pretty much right away. BUT she attributed EVERYTHING to menopauseinflammation. She then stopped me and asked if I was ok? I was dumbfounded like...do I look like I am crying or something? THEN, she asked me if I was taking baby aspirin. First of all, all the medications I take are listed in my record, (which are ZERO except just started antibiotic mouthwash yesterday) but the ONLY one that might not be listed..is excedrin which I take for my joint pain-SOMETIMES. My rheum knows I take it. Secondly-I dont take aspirin products as they cause me to bleed and upset my stomach (which should be in my record as I declined those all kinds of meds after I saw my rheumatologist) and LASTLY...I feel that is an incredibly dumb question to ask someone who knows she has high liver enzymes. Like YEAH SURE! I still take aspirin even though my liver enzymes are elevated because why not? I am not dumb, I certainly didnt ask to be sent to hematology, I was referred & I certainly dont have to make anything up as my medical record/blood work-is pretty cut and dry, but I must be crazy cuz she sure made me feel like I was making it all up. um no.She then prescribed me Effexor for my menopausal symptoms. Which hey I appreciate that since I cant take hormone replacement therapy...but she also did not really speak to me about side effects AT ALL. Said this will help with the hot flashes. Then she ordered some blood work and that was that. But come home and read all the side effects PLUS WITHDRAWAL side effects of the medication....no way will I start taking that JUST for hot flashes. I can deal 100% with hot flashes NOT DRENCHING NIGHT SWEATS, and have for almost 3 years now. My after visit notes ARE STILL not entered over 24 hrs later. I wouldnt be back EVEN IF something was truly wrong.

I highly recommend UCH for cancer care, treatment, and follow-up. I started with another well-known facility and am so very grateful to have changed to UCH. They saved my life. Dr. Medgyesy, Dr. Liu, and Michelle Bardino Faros (PT) have provided me excellent care. They are all extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and and provided the best care possible for me. The facilities and equipment are new, clean and accessible. Everyone who works there is extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend UCH - you will change from fearful to hopeful under their care!
