It is absolutely the best retail shopping experience possible. The staff are always so knowledgeable in the selection is always of the highest quality.

I am new to town, and never had been in an REI before. I was shopping for a jacket and gloves and Shanna was so helpful. She offered input on gloves, joining the co-op, and gave me a map of Ft. Collins. She gave tips on the weather here in the winter. She definitely made an impression that will make me come back to this store.

Really nice people... but the NEVER have what I need. They are supposed to be a Yakima Dealer, but only carry the corporate stuff and cant order anything else! SUPER LAME TINY! Tiny sizes, random inventory. 30+ years in the high country and do not on a single piece of there equipment!

Had an amazing experience at the Fort Collins REI today, thanks to Camry! She helped me get fitted to the perfect pair of hiking boots. She got me multiple sizes in several different styles and didn’t rest until I found a pair that I loved! She also helped me get signed up as a member so I could have more benefits and savings. Very helpful. I purchased a Thule roof carrier. They explained the different sizes and brands. I purchased a used one. They carried it out and helped me install it on our car and answer questions about installation and use.

Always love coming to REI- their customer service always blows me away and everyone is so helpful. This last time Sophie and Aubrey went out of their way to help my dad and I- Sophie went above and beyond spending time helping us find the perfect hiking shoes and Aubrey was so knowledgable and helpful about tents and sleeping bags. Between the amazing employees and membership perks I havent shopped anywhere else for outdoor gear in years!

Overall poor experience here compared to any of the other rei’s in the state. If you have an issue , the manager will be of no help. He literally refused to order in an item missing from their inventory, said that was “impossible.” Oh really, well then how do you have a single item in the store? In my case, he said he was going to cancel my membership around 2:45 yesterday (8-5-2021) and when I said that I’d just open a different one with a new number, he literally started yelling at me. Completely unprofessional and would advise people avoid this store if possible.

Couldn’t ask for a better adventure gear outlet in Fort Collins. The staff are beyond knowledgeable and helpful. I would absolutely recommend their selection of outdoor gear for all activities.

I bought a bike pump and less than two weeks later it broke, when I went to take it back the manager on duty was very disrespectful and claimed the pump worked fine because he pressed down on it once and air came out, and didnt let me explain what was wrong with it. Long story short I was missing the needle for the pump (I dont remember getting one with the pump) and because of that he wouldnt even give me 10% off a new pump. I dont go to REI very much the only two times Ive been there in a few years was buying the pump, and trying to return the pump, therefore I personally cant say good things about the store...

Great service, they went out of their way to get what I needed.

I visited the store tonight to see about a pair of shoes. There were a lot of staff around chatting with other staff and I wasnt greeted. I went through and past multiple employees and was not offered any assistance. When I went to the shoe department, the employee there was standing chatting with employees also. I said I was interested in Chacos. He looked at my feet, then said, We only have about sizes of womens Chacos in. What size do you need? I responded, the sizes. We dont have those sizes. I think. And then just stared at me. Clearly he wasnt interested in allowing me to pass into the shoe department that he was guarding so I could actually look at what they had in stock. I wanted to see the colors and patterns in both genders, regardless of whether they had size. After my experience with him, I was not interested in purchasing ANY ITEMS that I wanted, at this location because of the awful customer service. Clearly, assisting customers was NOT his priority or the priority of the other employees. Also, how can you have only THREE sizes of shoes in stock?!?

Literally the nicest people on the block. Highly recommend them. The best gear, period. And better people.. Double period.

I had a great experience with staff. Quick answers as to where things are and then let me handle my own shopping and did not hover to provide me with information I didnt need. The only thing i didnt like is that this location (unlike the others I have been to) did not have price tags on anything that I looked at, felt a little shady to me. Ill still go back and shop there for sure.

Great store for outdoor gear! Everytime Im in looking around there is always someone who comes and asks if I need help. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable which helps a lot. The only problem is I always spend more money than I should everytime I come in.

REI is always great. Easy returns even with technology products and great staff. It doesnt get much better.

Light selection of shoes. As always, very energetic staff and very clean and organized store. The line gets a little long sometimes. But there are lots of fun little items to keep you looking while you are waiting.

Normally REI is great, however, this location needs to be on top of their store hours. The phone message and website both show Monday thru Saturday 9am open time, however at 9:29am their phone message still says to call back during business hours (even though we drove there and they were open!).

The employee who helped me fit a hiking backpack was super nice and spent about an hour with me. I tried on about 8 backpacks, loaded with the weights. I wish I remember his name. I finally decided on a pack, and am super excited to go backpacking.

I have always had a good experience at this REI. Special thanks to Adam who patiently advised on tents etc today and went out of his way to help us get what we needed quickly and affordably! Emma was also kind and helpful! Thanks to both of you!

Sales manager was unbelievably rude. He accused me of 3 things all debunked by corporate! His incompetence wasted much of my time and offered zero resolution. Find your gear elsewhere.

I love REI, great customer service and quality products. Having said that, this location is one of the smallest Ive been to, and trying to cover all the different brands and categories that REI covers, there is often minimal selection in each area at this location.

Went to buy a backpack for my son. We had two different employees help us. Worked with my son to get the best fit but also helped me get a good price.

If I could give 0 stars I would! This was the first time I had been into this store and I am not happy. I was harassed 3 times about my mask within 2 minutes of being in the store. One employee even told her coworker to say something to me and follow me around the store while I was in front of her and could hear her. Nobody said hello or welcome. Nobody asked how they could help. They just harassed me about my mask. After the 3rd time I just said never mind I’ll leave and walked out. I will not be going there ever again!

Quick shout out for the bike shop in the Fort Collins REI store. I took my road bike (not purchased at REI or a brand they carry) to the shop. It needed a tune up and was not shifting cleanly. They did a quick check right there at the counter, and even identified a couple of mechanical (and even one safety) issue I hadn’t caught. 24 hours later they had it ready to roll. It looks and rides like it’s brand new. As an REI member I was really happy and impressed. Nice work!

Are you SERIOUS?!!!! They suddenly decided to CLOSE!!! Some people drive 75 MILES to get there, and you randomly decide to CLOSE because of the Air Quality OUTSIDE?!!!! Dont you work in an AIR CONDITIONED building?Totally unacceptable! People have Returns, and items to pick up !!!! How would you like to waste $16. on GAS! And a 3 hour round trip drive?!!!! I am DONE with Fort Collins REI.

Emily is SUCH a wonderful worker. Shes always so chipper and helpful when Im checking out. Shes very knowledgable about outdoor products and can always point me in the right direction when I need help.

Nearly all of the staff were very helpful and very friendly except the manager. I was working with one of the staff members and asking about a return. She said that it was clearly a manufacturing defect and then the manager came around and was extremely rude and refused the return. I wasnt expecting anything when I walked in the store just inquiring about my options. The refusal of the return is fine it was just the bad attitude and rude service that was surprising. I still bought new boots and other items because in general I like their service but AVOID THAT MANAGER!

The store didnt have the selection of skis I wanted, but I was able to order them on their online store and have the skis setup at the local store. I was a bit disappointed in the local selection and then my shipment got lost for a week, but eventually it worked out.

Went to look for tents but they didnt have many but there was a room of other stuff there for us.

They dont allow dogs in the store 😕

Boy! You gotta to be wealthy to shop there. The place made me feel like I was a poverty case. Way to rich for my blood. Good clean store though.

The lady was really nice who allowed me to return my solar generator. However the manager got pretty salty pretty quick and told me I should just shop online first before coming in and buying something. The product I purchased was what I could afford at the time. Unfortunately I needed a stronger generator to power my heater. but I will not be giving this retailer my money when I choose to buy the most expensive generator. (Its always funny seeing city folk act outdoorsy.)

They definitely have every social distancing measure available from markings and signs on the ground to sanitizing the checkout area and credit card machine after every use. All the employees are wearing mask and gloves and there is hand sanitizer nearly everywhere. Im glad that these stores are still able to provide good equipment. You can also buy online and do curbside pickup.

Today, my husband was verbally attacked by the manager of REI in Fort Collins, Tripper Theall. He walked in ready to spend a great deal of money since his mountain bike was stolen, and we finally got our insurance check. Yes, he wore a face mask and abided by our local restrictions. The manager told him his face mask was not in compliance with the ADA as the nose piece did not go all the way up the full bridge of his nose, and ultimately asked to leave. Now, I am in HR and know ADA compliance like the back of my hand for a living for over 21 years. Mask mandate has ZERO to do with ADA. In fact, the manager, broke ADA compliance by verbally attacking and demanding he leave the store. The manager had no idea what medical condition my husband suffers from. While yes, it is irrelevant as he had his nose and mouth covered, it show the lack of training and sheer ignorance this manager and organization has. We will NEVER go back to REI. We have filed formal complaints. It is a shame, he was humiliated in front of all the employees and shoppers for doing what is required, wearing a mask. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!

Helpful,friendly and expensive

I have been an REI member for almost 40 years had spent thousands over the year over the last three months I have never witnessed such a poor run organization in my life Ive been to this store 11 times over the last 3 months they have not yet stock their shelves I will never set foot in another REI again and you all should know that Ive spent $2,400 in backpack packing and climbing gear just in the last month I will not give one dime to REI. This is a classic example of the liberal nonsense to have a retail store and have nothing in stock is very piss poor management. In complete disregard for any customers time I even tried Mail ordering a backpack from them 4 weeks later they still couldnt tell me when it would be delivered I canceled the order and ordered it straight from the manufacturer and have the item in 3 days. I will do everything in my power to put this organization into bankruptcy.. Good Bye REI

Bought shoes. Didnt like them after a hike. Took them back and found some new amazing ones, as well as shoes for my daughter. Awesome.

My wife and I needed some last minute camping gear and Adam did a PHENOMENAL job getting us taken care of. Whatever REI is paying Adam, its not enough! We were there Sunday afternoon July 20. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of!

I don’t normally go out of my way to write a bad review but the sales rep that helped out my fiancé was unacceptably rude and pompous. Sales rep was borderline unwilling to help and took it a step further to say that she wouldn’t be able to help us find a backpacking pack. We will not be taking our business to this particular REI anymore especially when there are cheaper and better options like Sierra Trading Post across the road.

Very nice staff. Always a great place to get the latest gear. Become a member and you get access to their garage sale. This is the best deal going for buying used gear at steep discounts.

Why dont you just give your employee applications to walk around with. To the older lady that works in the shoe dept. People like you are the reason more and more of us are shopping online. Who wants to come into a store and not have a good experience when you can just shop in the comfort of your home. Retail business with out great customer service, whats the point?

Went to get some trail running shoes. Had asked for 2 sizes to try on. Then when I asked if they had them in a different width the man helping me told me they didnt in a rude and terse manner. Pricing is already high, you would expect staff to atleast do their job in providing service personably.

I went to this location today and have always had an amazing experience. Today topped that. I spoke to Kevin & Mark who helped me with my request even though REI did not carry what I needed and extended all of REIs options to me to assist (it was a skiing question). They were courteous, focused, and dedicated. I really appreciate that this location empowers its employees with the skills to help its customers. It is important to note that this location employee those with this level of appreciation for their customers. I will be returning in the future for all my outdoor needs. Well done!

We went in to purchase new backpacks and got excellent service!! The gentleman who helped us was very familiar with the products which was good for my daughter (8 y.o) and myself who has never backpacked. He fit us both with a couple of options and let us wear them around the store to get the best fit! He spent all the time we needed with him to assure we had all we needed for our first trip!

When you need great gear, knowledge that counts and a zeal for the outdoors, I recommend going into this REI in Fort Collins. I have been living in Fort Collins for my whole life, and am an avid Shop Local kind of guy. That said, sometimes Jax doesnt have everything you need. REI has serious gear and if your an avid outdoor fan, sometimes your gear is your lifeline. I have enjoyed the expertise of Chan and his crew over at the REI Fort Collins branch. He has true knowledge that he shares in a matter of fact and accessible manner making decisions easier to make. Ive spoken with several other associates and without a doubt, their knowledge about gear and enjoyment of the outdoors is tangible. Thanks for the assistance you provided over the years and I look forward to being a loyal customer for years to come.

The staff was freindly and punctual on delivery my product with the curbside delivery. They have made the best of the situation.

REI here in Fort Collins is really great. They recently bought the store next to them and opened up their store to a much large one! They carry many popular items and some you cant find at other retail stores. Their staff is always helpful. When I get someone who doesnt know the answer, they quickly find another employee who does. Ive made many purchases here as well as at their super awesome garage sale. Keep up the great work, REI!

Went in to look at bicycles and camping equipment with my 3 year old and our new 8 week old puppy was informed we were not allowed to have pets in the store even a new puppy. Kind of disappointed in the way rei co-OP has changed over recent years. Can honestly say I doubt I will be returning anytime soon.

Great customer service. I brought in my bike to correct a problem. I expected to leave it for a couple of days. Instead the tech put in the rack, and solved the issue in less than 5 minutes. Then showed my three things I could do to improve the bikes performance. I bought a chain and was on my way. Start to finish 10 minutes.

Obviously one of the greatest stores ever to exist. Ever. Clean, friendly and helpful staff, good selection.....and what not as well but yeah just an excellent happy/safe zone. Where one will find most of their hearts desires.

Was just in the store and 4 employees passed me and not a single person greeted me or asked help. When the fourth person walked by me and i stated “i need help”. She was extremely unfriendly rude. I do not recommend going to the store and will never be going back to the store again. This is exactly what is wrong with corporate America. Only care about $$ not customer. Awful awful.

Weve been going to the REI for a few years now, and its quite nice. The staff is always wonderful and helpful and friendly, without being pushy. They have a pretty good selection and pretty fair prices, and the REI membership is pretty cool, actually! The only downside is the store is rather small, compared to other REI stores. That store size issue does affect their selection and quantity of items, just because they cant fit as much as a larger store. Otherwise, excellent outdoor store!

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Had gone in for ski tune up with a friend and bike tune up. They offer great deals regularly especially for members. They either carry or at least know about all things outdoors and are very reliable with the product catalog.

Ive been an REI member since the 90s and had a very weird and frustrating interaction with a manager here. He tried to use my return data (the % of items I return) to shame me and justify why he could not process another return. So strange and unprofessional. Will not be shopping at this store anymore.

I alway have a good time when I visit, I miss the place.

Would not recommend their bike repair.I went in for the Silver repair as my bike had been in storage for a couple years and I wanted to ensure it was not only a smooth ride but a safe one. The Silver package included a full safety check.Three days after picking it up I had a brake line snap almost sending me head over into traffic.Upon returning and just wanting them to fix the brake line I was met with skepticism until I insisted the check their records to match my receipt. Only then did they fix the brake under the package all while saying there was no way they could have caught it.

REI is always a well run enterprise no matter what city you are in! Folks that work there are very helpful, yet give you space and have excellent product knowledge. Im never disappointed.

I originally came in to have my Patagonia Jacket sent back for a repair, and ended up talking to Chandler at the front desk. He went above and beyond to help me out, even though the repair was ultimately be through Patagonia not through REI. We filled out a repair form and I left the store thinking that I was going to have to wait 4-6 weeks to hear anything about the repair. The 4-6 week time frame was unfortunate but is standard to Patagonia. Chandler apparently called Patagonia after I left to figure out more details about the repair process and what would be the best option for my particular situation. I received a call from Chandler about 2 hours after I left the store informing me that I would actually have to wait closer to 12 weeks to hear anything from Patagonia about my repair. He then informed me that they (REI) actually had a replacement in store for my jacket, and after speaking to a manager about my situation got the go-ahead to do an in store exchange. Chandler is the man, and he deserves a raise for his fine customer service skills and the initiative he demonstrated to help me out.

I had originally rated this REI location 4 stars because every time we have gone in there we have had pleasant experiences. However, when my boyfriend went in this morning our opinion of this store has gone WAY down. Prior to going in this morning my boyfriend called and asked to speak to the bike service department where a woman answered and told him that even though he bought his bike at another store down in Denver and not at an REI that their service department would still be able to work on the bike and have it serviced. However, after wasting time going in there after that initial phone call, another employee in the bike service department greeted him with a very rude and aggressive attitude stating that they couldn’t work on the bike because it wasn’t purchased at an REI and that’s why he should shop “local” (which is hilarious because REI is not a local establishment... it’s from Seattle) This employee has pushed us to NEVER come to this REI location so thanks for that. We are members and that means nothing I guess. If I were you, I would go to Sierra Trading Post or even Dick’s Sporting Goods where they have much better prices and friendly employees.

Great customer service! Keith was awesome and spent time helping us pick out a roof mounted bike rack for our Jeep.

I went in looking for a few things, mostly a backpacking pack. I wandered around looking at some other things I will eventually need and came across my sales associate or whatever REI calls them. I believe his name was Jimmy. Ive been backpacking before a long time ago when I was a kid and things have changed substantially since then. He was absolutely fantastic with his knowledge, experience, fitting for the pack, adjusting it to make sure it felt as good as possible with the weight in it so I could get an accurate feel. I wasnt planning on purchasing the pack quite yet, but the one he recommended for me was perfect so I ordered one as I checked out with a couple other items. They had what I wanted in stock, just not the color I liked (to be expected it was on sale at a great price).The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was when checking out I found out REI doesnt have/do a military discount and that was fairly disappointing as I know a ton of veterans who use the outdoors and camping as a way to cope with things. I encourage REI to consider not just a discount for vetwrans but running workshops for the veteran community. I think it could be mutually beneficial. Jimmy gets 5 stars though because he was excellent.

A well organized, clean store that sells most everything you would like for the outdoors. Items are very pricey but sometimes you can find a decent deal. The staff is friendly and knowledge, I just wish the prices were so high.
