I hate to leave a bad review but my last experience with this garage will be my last. I’ve been here many times over the years with great experiences and even recommended them to countless people. But the service and workmanship has gone way downhill. I took my truck to them this past Thursday to have new shocks installed. First, there were specific old parts (lift spacers) that I made a point to ask them not to reuse with the new suspension. They said it would be no problem, but when I came to pick up the truck I saw that they ignored my request. I wasn’t really upset about it but it sucked for them because they had to completely pull the shocks off of the truck again to remove the spacers which took several hours, and I know they are short staffed. But my biggest concern is the fact that they accidentally broke the ABS sensor on one of my wheels, which is no big deal as accidents happen, but THIS is how they “fixed” it. With electrical tape and zip ties. Photo attached. Short staffed, extremely busy, whatever it is, there is no excuse for this and I really hope this isn’t the type of professionalism that goes into their work now. This is a cheap part that isn’t hard to replace. I’ll be doing it myself along with finding a new mechanic. Really is a shame.

Greg has “affordable” as part of his business title. I can tell you it’s a lie. His labor rate is $95 per hour. More than most dealerships. In addition, tried to charge me $350 for a transmission extension housing part. Found the exact same OEM part online for only $150. Avoid this business.

Maintaining a vehicle can be pretty expensive at times. We have been going to Greg’s Affordable Car Repair for a few years now and have never been disappointed. All those who work at Greg’s are down to earth and get the job done along with being courteous to the customers. They do great work and they don’t over charge for a job done or have you buy a part or service you don’t need.This past week I had been hearing a horrible noise in my car and it kept getting worse. I was on my way to run some errands and decided to just stop by to ask if I could get an appointment. They asked me what was wrong and I told them. Billy offered to take the car for a ride to listen to the noise and while I talked with Lindsey in the office, he came back in and said it was already fixed. He found the problem, fixed it and in a very short amount of time. I really appreciated him checking the problem to ease my mind and to be able to fix it so quickly. It really helped me out that day.Normally we drop our car off and pick it up the next day or another day. We have always been pleased with the service and the staff at Greg’s Affordable Car Repair.I highly recommend Greg’s Affordable Car Repair to anyone looking for good quality and affordable service.

Absolutely HORRIBLE experience. They were supposed to repair my shocks and struts, new timing and water pump, as well as a full tune up. They also charged me $200 for a diagnostic. In full I paid them $1400. 2 months later my shocks and struts are still the exact same, check engine light is on for spark plugs, and I was told by a mechanic the timing belt is not new. They also tried stealing a part I brought with me to have them put on. I handed it to the owner himself, and he acted like he had no recollection of it and had to see if he could “find it” this was AFTER I picked up the car and PAID them in full. I do not recommend taking your car there EVER. They are just in it to make money and will for sure rip you off in the process.

I have F150 that drives me crazy and these guys took great care of my truck and got her back to me 100% perfect. I highly recommend this shop

I came in today for my brakes to be changed because they were making a ridiculous noise and they were so honest and kind to check out my car and not only tell me what was wrong but also offered to change the brakes just to make me happy. Greg is definitely showed to be an honest person. I was referred to him from a good friend of mine. The first time I stopped by to get the brakes of my car checked. He was honest to tell me that everything was fine with the brakes. That made me feel confident about coming back next time I needed help with my car. this second time I needed help with my cars AC. He again was very honest with what he found and what it could take to fix it. He got it fixed in a shorter time than expected and his fee was very reasonable. It is good to know I have a place I can trust to take care of my car.

EDIT: There have been changes either in staff or ownership in the past few months. Work is subpar, shifty pricing, and you can’t get anyone on the phone. We’ve found another place.I’m not a car person and some repair places take advantage of that and crank up the price on services, which is both annoying and feels a little sexist. I feel like we’ve always been treated fairly here and everyone is straightforward about what is needed without trying to oversell services. We’ve gotten a lot of work done between 2 cars over the last couple of years. These complaints from others are silly-you can choose if you want something done or not. Expertise costs money. They have never done something without asking first. I’ve turned things down knowing there could be consequences, but my car is old so sometimes it hasn’t been worth it. So far it still moves. I always recommend Greg’s when someone asks about a good car place.

Charged me $300 for a diagnostic and then quoted me $3,000 to repair my AC compressor. I got a second opinion and it was only $700. Just because theyre off the highway doesnt mean they should commit highway robberries

It took 5.5 hours to get 4 tires put on and an alignment. Not once did they call to advise this delay and made me wait yet another 30 minutes when I showed up. I’m not a mechanic, but I know it doesn’t take all day to put on 4 tires!!! I will NOT be supporting this local business again!

Greg is very knowledgeable & extremely fair in price. He’s not like the other chain car shops that try to upsell you on things you don’t need, just what you need. Support a local business and family and go to Greg’s!

Greg was very honest. He did not try to sell me unnecessary things, but he even recommended me to a tire discounters store when I needed a tire and he didnt have em handy. I went to the shop after looking at reviews on maps and ended up leaving a review. Very satistified with the service.

One of the most reputable car repair businesses I have been fortunate enough to find. Not cheap but the best never are. But you get a nationwide 12 month 12,000 mile guarantee for anything gone wrong,, which if used one time would payoff in spades.

No BS at this shop. you explain your issue, they call you with a diagnosis and how much itll cost. if they discover anything else they will call you about it before doing the work. Dont try to sell you on anything extra. They were very fast, and you cant argue with the good prices. highly recommend this shop

Met a lady here to look at buying her vehicle. The SUV was severely rusted underneath, and not even worth the few hundred she was selling it for. What was more troubling is that ole Greg had put several new parts on the vehicle just a few months earlier totaling nearly $1000. This was a waste of money given the severity of the rusted frame. In other words, he was not honest with her and simply took her money. Sad that people dont do the right thing.

We were stuck in Florence with a blown rear main seal. No one could even look at our Ford Expedition. This place came recommended by family and it was awesome!! Greg is knowledgeable and genuinely cares about people. They got us in quick and stayed late to make sure the job was done so we could leave town as scheduled. Great place, great service and GREAT PRICES!! Affordable is definitely right. Would go here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Gregs Affordable has been my familys go-to Auto Shop for years now. Very knowledgeable mechanics with great work ethic. Most importantly, these people are HONEST, which has become somewhat hard to come by in the car repair field lately. A truly great bunch of guys that I recommend to anyone with car troubles in search of an honest shop. Never once felt ripped off after getting my car back, and my problems were fixed. Cant ask much more than that.

I’ve taken 2 vehicles here so far over the past 2 years for different issues. The prices compared to other places are very fair and they seem honest. They also gave us military discount on labor cost. We will continue to come here, but I’m hoping to not have to.

These guys are great. I had an alternator issue. Dropped it off to them before they closed and they had a brand new alternator in and ready to go the very next morning. They even fixed an o2 sensor for me without me even asking. Great work, great price. I Cant recommend them enough!!!

Was told my intake manifold gasket needed to be replaced by everyone and the job was going to cost $450-$600 depending on where I asked. This place quoted me at $515 but told me that what I have been told by other places just didnt sound right. I took my car here, they found the problem in less than 5 minutes, fixed a hose that was loose and I only spent $40. Honest, dependable, and great at what they do. I am so grateful I gave these guys a call. New permanent customer

Just had my car repaired from them. I called around and everybody wanted $800 - $1000. Saved over $200 dollars with them. I dropped off same day and got it back before closing. He said he wouldnt guarantee it would be done but it was. They work fast and are very friendly. I will be back with future repairs. I suggest them for your repairs.

Over priced, ordered the cheapest part and jacked up the price, and wouldnt order me a factory part.. then acted indignant for asking for the price I wanted, and asking to lower price since he wanted to use cheaper part.. so I thought about it for a sec, we went off to work on someone elses car, even though I had an appointment and he said I could have a minute to think about it.. so I left, gonna get it done like 3 times cheaper in a few days somewhere else.. I really wanted it done today, but dealing with people like that who dont appreciate my money, i can wait. Get it together people, you lost money, might of only be a hundred, but you lost 100 bucks for a half hour work.. thats bad business my friend. Receptionist kept acting weird also, putting off a weird vibe, Im could of been me.. go there and be the judge yourselves of you have to learn the hard way.

Heard a grinding noise coming from the front of my Avalanche. Called them on a Saturday around noon. They said to bring it in and they would look at it. Found the problem, fixed it and I picked it up the same day. Very pleased with the work and very reasonable on prices. Would highly recommend!

Probably the most honest mechanics youre going to find anywhere. If something needs attention theyre going to tell you, at the same time if nothing is needed they wont try to sell you it. I wont take my ride anywhere else! (Well except for Skaats Performance, which they recommended for my higher end performance needs)

Was visiting from Canada along with my brother and his wife to see the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. The a/c on my suv had not been working for over a year, and I decided to have it repaired while here. I searched google for reviews on local repair shops and saw Gregs Affordable Car Repair had quite a few favourable reviews, so I decided to give him a call. I explained the issue I was having and how long it had been since the a/c quit, and what a mechanic had diagnosed the issue to be. The mechanic (Dave I think) explained the possible issues in fixing the a/c since it had been disabled for over a year, and said they would check the system for moisture damage, and get back to me once they had a look at it. They told me what parts were needed and what the price would be and ordered all the parts. I left my car with them and early the next day they called and said the car was ready and the a/c was working well.The price for the job was exactly what I was quoted, no extra work or cost, and I returned to Canada with fully functioning a/c and it has been working well since.I just wanted to thank Greg and his team for being honest and professional in business and would highly recommend Gregs for anyone looking for an honest and competent auto repair shop!

Thought I had a bad wheel bearing. Turned out to be ball joints. Dave priced me two control arms and one lower ball joint plus an alignment for $1075. Said we had to change upper control arms. We don’t. Picked up two upper and two lower ball joints at Advance Auto for $120. Changed myself in 5 hours. Paid $70 at tire discounters for alignment. I get running a shop and not everyone can do these things themselves but anyone who charges $1075 for ball joint changes and an alignment is 100% NOT affordable and is taking advantage of you not understanding your vehicle

They wanted 435$ to put on a powersteering pump! I had the parts that was just labor for a two hour job! Affordable I think not !!!

I would recommend this place to any one looking to get their car/truck fixed by a competent and reliable mechanic. I went there and told them what I needed fixed Greg told me the price and how long and it was done!! These are people you can go in and talk to and you will know who is actually touching your car and not just the salesman at a counter!! They have a standard 12 month/12,000 mile warranty with everything they do and IF by some chance you break down within 30 days of getting work done they will pay for your tow as long as you have your receipt. How can you go wrong with that? They fix what needs fixing, they dont break stuff to cost you more money, and they stand behind their work.. He fixed it, bit slammed the hood on the old coil. Making the hood not being able to open, I dont know if he knew it afterwards, but he should have saw the big gap in the hood

My car was overheating on a saturday afternoon, the only place open around was this one. It ended up being a Leak in the Coolant Reservoir, they fixed it and it looks it is working fine.PROS: nice attention.CONS: it was not affordable, for that simple replacement, they charge me $90 dollars (evaluation/test) + $175 dollars (parts and labor).Im sorry, Im not a wealthy person, $264 for this Job (according to the Cost Comparisions that Im consulting) it is excessive.many places waive the evaluation if you accept the repair...You decide...

When I thought my car was done for and needed immediate assistance, Gregs was there. They dropped me off at my home while they worked on it and low and behold found the problem within an hour. They really have top notch mechanics at this place who know their stuff. The car is still running after 250k miles!

They were honest, reassuring, and got the job done as soon as possible. We were staying in Florence from out of town and had to make several trips to Lexington and Louisville over the weekend when our transmission fluid started leaking. I took it into Gregs while my boyfriend was at work (and I know nothing about cars), so I was really worried that I wasnt going to understand what was going on and would end up paying for a million things I didnt need. But as soon as I took it in, they identified the problem and let me know up front how long it was going to take, how much it was going to cost, and they reassured me that it was going to be okay. They were able to get it done that day for us, and even ordered in a part from further away for me. Overall, they treated me right and did not try to swindle me in any way despite my ignorance regarding auto-repair. Great people, and a great place.

Ive only gotten an oil change here, but was happy. Very happy no one wanted to sell me a new cabin air filter, wiper blades, etc.

I went here because of the reviews I read about how great and honest this place was....The reviews could not have been further from the truth.I took my vehicle here for an oil change, tire rotation, and question about why my vehicle stalled one time....It was a disaster from the moment I walked in.After I explained the services I needed and vehicle concerns that I had, the employee I was talking to just took my keys and walked away. He did not tell me what he was doing, how long the service would take, he didnt even ask if I was staying.I ended up waiting in the two seat waiting room for TWO HOURS before I even saw another employee. An employee finally came in the room, looked at me, and walked away. He did not ask if I had been helped or anything!So these first few problems I can brush off as just them being rude. I can handle that if they are good and honest mechanics. However, when they finally told me my vehicle was ready (after 3 total hours!) they took me back to the garage and every single employee was smoking! (4 total employees)! Keep in mind they were covered in oil and gasoline...not professional nor safe!But it gets worse! After the rudeness, unprofessionalism, and lack of safety...they completely lied to me about what was wrong with my vehicle! They said they ran a Check Engine Light test and the code said that I needed a new fuel pump. They quoted me $490 for the parts and labor (which actually is not that bad of a price.) They said I needed it done immediately or I would be stranded on the side of the road.I did not go through with the service, took my vehicle to another mechanic and explained what happened. They said there was no code for a fuel pump!Since I was hesitant to drive my vehicle, just in case it was the fuel pump, I let this mechanic run some tests and keep my vehicle for two days to inspect it.When I got my vehicle back they said they could not duplicate the problem and said my fuel pump was fine! Even better, they did not charge me for any of the work since they could not find anything wrong!So as for Gregs Affordable Car Repair...Avoid it at all costs! Otherwise you will be charged for things you do not need, wait in a small room for hours, and potentially catch on fire.This was the worst mechanic experience I have ever had.Oh and by the way...It has been a month, and (knock on wood), my vehicle has been running great!

We were in from out of state and had our water pump go out on our van. I called around to five other local places to find someone who could fix it in the time frame needed and were quoted prices from $580 to $750 for a job that only takes 1.5 hours of mechanical labor. I found Gregs online and decided to give them a call and was quoted $380 for the whole job. The service writer also suggested that I replace the thermostat at the same time as it was right there and wouldnt take any more time or labor to put it in, and he had included it in the price quoted but could take it off if we didnt want to replace it. Now I have had experiences before where a shop will charge you for both labor rates, even though much of the work is redundant and doesnt take them that long. Here was someone who was willing to do the best thing for the customer and wasnt looking to make a mint off of this potential opportunity. When I asked if the price included a radiator flush and fill that all the other shops were saying was necessary, he responded that it did not, but most times if the coolant was fine they could just reuse it. He would let me know if that was the case.Over all, I am very happy with the service received from Gregs and if we lived in town, we would be doing business with them on a regular basis

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!! They had my car for a week only to tell me they had no idea what was wrong. People that dont work for repair shops have asked me if they checked this or that, and the answer is no. They get stuck in one idea and if that aint it they give up. I wouldnt recommend this place to a person in hate.

We just moved here from FL and had to miss our third day of work cuz or car was messing up.. We went to a couple other places that said rebuild the engine and the other quoted 300$. So we came here they finally diagnosed it right and cost so much less than we expected and less time than imagined... Great job!!!!!!

GREAT SERVICE, fast, very friendly. Dave and his team went above and beyond anything my family could ever expect. We were on a trip from Michigan to South Carolina and our vehicle broke down and was in need of a fuel pump replacement. Not having the correct tools with me to fix it myself, we called the office and they took care of everything right away.He made a few calls and had the parts there in know time, and had us back on the road within 4 hours.
