I found Ron when looking for a therapist in Flagstaff. He had great reviews and so I thought Id give him a try. The reviews were confirmed and I had a fantastic experience. I highly recommend him for EMDR and trauma counseling, but he is also a skilled talk therapist. If you need help, he is a fantastic resource.Unfortunately I have moved, so Ill have to find someone else should I need help again. I could only hope they will be as good as Ron.

Ron Paul is brilliant! He has deft insights. He has a great personal inner calmness that inspires the best out of others. I recommend him highly.

There are many mediocre therapists, and some good ones. However, as many will agree, an excellent therapist is indeed a rarity.Ron attempts to help within his subscribed system. For one thing, he tries to customize the sessions to his clients. I found, at times, his buddhist infusions helpful. There are indeed positives to mention. However, I wish he had been more patient.Genuine presence was preferred over excessive mantra like platitudes.Personally, and having given time to see it, I prefer more sensitivity (not in theory, but in actual emotional depth). I also believe that what separates an ok therapist from an intentional one is genuine empathy, or as Thich Nhat Hanh speaks of walking --with-- one another. Real empathy allows for a bridge, instead of calling over pleasant mantras from the distant sidelines of things someone read on a Buddhist site.Think about it. It matters tremendously. I believe that Ron is someone for whom personal growth is probably valued, and I think he tries, but I saw, over time, that he failed to see the whole person in our sessions. I realized he had completely objectified me when he offered male-oriented solution thinking about certain stress relief options. It clearly showed the shallow bottom of his emotional well (based on what he remembered about me from our previous sessions). It sickens me to recall this.Disappointment lingers. When will men step up and see women for -all- that we are rather than hold firm to notions that the work required to do so has been done? Its so much easier to maintain the status quo.You have to see someone outside of your own bias before you can help her/him help onesself.I feel that an astute therapist takes their training from the psychological system, and then ventures out of the box of labels, and into the field of seeing.Visionaries are a rare breed.

Ive been helped tremendously by Ron Paul. I am an avid proponent of EMDR for healing childhood trauma. Ron is an excellent EMDR practitioner, perceptive, gentle and compassionate.
