I had a fantastic Balyage service as well as hair cut at this salon. Don is fantastic. The service lasts me several months and even as it grows out people ask me if it is freshly colored. The salon is immaculate and Don gives you exactly what you want and will look good on you. My hair is shiny and healthy. My daughter also decided to cut off a ton of hair and he gave her a spunky and sassy short cut that is divine. The experience was beyond anything I expected in Flagstaff. If you want a big city salon results with a friendly small town vibe then this is the place for you.

Don was professional and efficient. I love my hair!!! No more 5-7 hour appointments for me Don lifted my brown to blonde in 3, with no damage at a super-fair price. My whole family is switching to McSweeney’s. We are so grateful!

I found McSweeney the Salon after moving to Flagstaff one year ago, and am very glad I did. Dons cutting and styling is equivalent to the stylist I was with in Michigan for more than 10 years. The quality of his coloring products and other Bumble and Bumble products is better than what I experienced previously. My damaged hair is now repaired after one year. I have found that Don tells it like it is but is very professional.

My daughter has very dark hair so when she wanted to go blonde with roots exposed I knew I needed to go to a salon with very experienced stylists. Her hair came out perfect. Mcsweeney Salon held true to their reputation of experience and professional services. I highly recommend this place!

I had to move an appointment due to an employee calling out sick. Called right after they opened to give them as much notice as possible, moved appointment to the next day. Then I get a call from the owner Don who was completely rude about it. Berated me over changing his schedule, I was completely nice and apologetic, he did not care. Rude till the end then said you’ll need to put a deposit down to keep your appointment and handed the phone to his assistant. Absolutely terrible customer service would not support this man ever again. People have lives, things happen, I would understand if I had been rude but I was nothing but polite. Don gave me bangs and a haircut. I’m someone who is terrified of making changes to my hair, so bangs were a big deal for me. But don did an amazing job and gave me exactly what I wanted. He was also really personable and nice to talk to, so I’m looking forward to being back!

Avey was AMAZING. She brought my hair back to life! Immediately I felt so comfortable and felt like I was in good hands. She achieved exactly what I was going for and more. Loved my haircut and color here! Don did a great job! I wasn’t sure if I wanted highlights or to keep a bit darker natural blonde color and he mixed some highlights with balayage and it turned our just perfect. Usually after 3 weeks I already saw roots standing out but now everything looks effortlessly natural with a little blonde highlights in there. Love it!

Avoid this salon. First, they charge a deposit for an appointment. I paid it, scheduled my appointment, no one showed up. They give the owners cell number on the voicemail recording, I texted him, he read it(read receipts) and never responded. Unbelievably unprofessional. And my appointment was scheduled for 9am Saturday, it’s Monday and have still not heard from them at all.

I had a wonderful experience at McSweeney Salon.I called and scheduled an appointment with Don for a Balayage & cut.It turned out exactly the way I wanted & I feel amazing.He also took the proper precautions for Covid 19.Definitely will be back for touch ups and future hair appointments! :)

Went in for a cut and color and an eyebrow wax with Don and am very happy with my experience! I wasnt sure what I wanted to do with my hair so he suggested blonde and copper highlights and they look amazing! My hair was damaged and unhealthy before and after the cut it feels and looks nice and healthy again! He did an excellent job with my eyebrows and made sure not to take away too much and they look perfect! Don made fun conversation the whole appointment and was very friendly! Would definitely recommend!

I walked in when I saw a co-worker waiting in the window and the sign out front advertising eyebrow waxing. The receptionist and the gentleman working (who I believe may have been Don!) were friendly and happy to fit me in for the day. I was blown away by the service, attention to detail, conversation, and most importantly the way my brows came out! Ive seen this place so many times and went in on a whim and Im so pleased that I did. Definitely going to book a balayage with him! What a great salon!

I am one of the pickiest people when it comes to getting my hair cut, I have fine straight hair, seems to be challenging for a good cut. Often I’m left with gauge marks from the scissors, it’s awful. I had the pleasure of seeing Don today. Amazing! love him personally but also he listened to my pet peeves, surely he was was like “not my first rodeo lady” but nonetheless he was patient and I have a new hair cut in which he was able to salvage some my length and my highlights are woven fine and subtle just the way I like them. I have only only ever stuck with one stylist consistently And sadly they have relocated, I can’t seem to find someone that can cut this fine straight hair. found him! Don! I just got a haircut here and I absolutely loved it. Ive been getting my haircut in Flagstaff for the past 3 years and hated every single one of them. For the first time I absolutely had a good experience, a great cut, and a fantastic blow out done!!Holly Shelander is an amazing hairstylist and I highly recommend for anyone who wants a great experience in the salon.

My first visit there and I was blown away!I have sooo much thick hair and Don had spent 4 hours carefully bleaching, toning and coloring every section by section.My hair came out amazing! I cannot believe the transformation.Don is such a hilarious person and so much fun to talk with! He even provides you with a drink of your choice! I went into McSweeny Salon to get my eyebrows waxed and was more than happy with the result. The salon was very clean and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Don brought me back right away and was friendly from start to finish. He walked me through each step as he was doing it and made sure I was happy with what he was doing and made fun conversation throughout the process. Simple rude, and I didn’t even get any service. I’m sure he (I don’t know his name) has great skills but that is not relevant if you’re just rude when people walk into the store. I don’t doubt that many of his clients think he is great and not rude at all. I’m only referring here to my personal experience. I live a couple blocks away, went to the salon at 10:05 am because it was stated online that it opens at 10, all with the hope to find an appointment or being squeezed in between appointments for a quick, clean haircut, the place was closed. I called and texted. At 11 am I came back, walked in, this person was behind the counter and looked at me and turned his head like I wasn’t there. These were the 5 most awkward seconds of my life. I was then asked: “can I help you?” To then be sent by him to another establishment were they could possibly help me, without me even asking. Once again, I don’t doubt he might be a cool person and excellent hair stylist. My point being, he offers a service and I walked in to get that service and was treated rudely. And because of these situations, reviews exist. And here I am sharing my story.

Marc worked on my hair and did a great job darkening my base and adding in some highlights. He is very professional, will listen to your ideas and suggestions before letting you know what he thinks would work best with your hair. It was easy, fun and though highlights are never cheap, I did get my moneys worth: my hair looks and feels great!

McSweeney The Salon has provided me with outstanding colors and trims for many, many years. Even though I have moved out of Flagstaff, I still make the drive up there, because its worth it! I am grateful to work with a salon who respects long hair, and they always put me at ease. I highly recommend this salon!

Don has been cutting my hair for the last 2 years and I have to say its been the best experience for me. Don is very good at his craft and always provides me a consistent cut/style. Don is amazing! I have been to many Flagstaff salons that destroyed my hair and turned out horribly (even the best rated ones). I have had to spend thousands fixing other peoples mistakes and that is what lead me here. Don was able to transform my horrible bayalage into something I was not embarrassed of after just one session!! I was hooked. Now after a second session it looks better than I could have imagined. Definitely my go to in Flagstaff! Coming from Southern California it is hard to find something comparable and McSweeny salon definitely stands on its own! He also does an amazing job at eyebrows - trip, wax, and dye!! You will not be disappointed!!

I came in with a grown out, poorly done balayage from my prior hair stylist in California. Don made my hair blonde and left no big chunks. The service from the salon as a whole was spectacular and I will now be a regular! Extremely happy with my experience here.

Don was absolutely AWESOME! Ive been struggling to find a good hair salon in flagstaff for a long time! Before I had gone to see don I had gotten my hair done somewhere else, I wanted a white/blonde color and I ended up with yellow/orange hair on the top, it was awful and I was freaking out! I asked the lady who did my hair if there was anything we could do at all and she said unless I wanted to dye my hair dark there was nothing we could do.The next day I spent hours looking up ways to get yellow to of blonde hair, I tried everything but I had no luck, so I started calling salons around town looking for a color correcting shampoo. When I called dons hair salon I asked if he had gem lights shampoo, at this point I was in a little bit of panic! Unfortunately he didnt have the shampoo but he asked what I needed the it for and I explained what had happened I started crying a little bit(there is nothing worse than spending hundreds of dollars and leaving a hair salon with hair so terrible you dont even want to go outside). He immediately explained to me that he could fix my hair with a simple toner!(I was relieved and a little frustrated that the other salon hadnt done this.) He said he had just left his salon was done for the weekend but he could schedule me for next week, he noticed I was crying a little bit and he said he would come back to the salon and fix my hair right away. Within an hour my hair was no longer yellow! he dropped everything he was doing, rushed to the salon and got almost all of the yellow out of my hair! I scheduled another appointment with him later that week to rebleach my hair so I could get that white color. My hair looked so much better! and he didnt damage it at all and my scalp didnt burn like it had when I left the other salon! he was absolutely great! I have finally found a hair salon in flagstaff that I can trust! I highly recommend don, he really knows what he is doing and he really cares. When I called he easily could have scheduled me for an appointment the next week, but he dropped everything, and took the rest of his day off to fix my hair.I cant say enough how great don is!
