I have nothing but positive things to say about this office and their staff. At 39 years old, I was afraid when I was told my tonsils needed to be removed. They should’ve been done when I was younger but the issue was never pushed. From the time I entered this practice, I felt really comfortable in knowing I would get great care. To make it even better, when my husband and I arrived at the surgery center, we both looked at each other and said “This place feels really nice and comfortable!” I was somewhat nervous but every staff member made me feel like I was family. To top it all off, I was wheeled into the OR and knew I had the right surgeon because he had country music playing and you could tell that he was in his zone. Thank you Dr.Mansfield and your entire staff for taking such great care of me.

The ER referred me to this clinic due to swelling in the neck/throat. I saw a PA. She had never met me before, she did not know me.She walks into the exam room, says something like good morning and I reply in kind. Her next words to me, not exact coz I was in shock at her tone: Oh my! your voice is horrible! (I do know she said HORRIBLE). How long have you smoked?.Whut? We exchange greeting pleasantries and the PAs next comment is my voice is HORRIBLE? Ouch. Way to get the patient nice and comfortable with your pleasant PA demeanor, right? This PA had no idea if that was my normal voice, if I used to be a singer (yes but not professionally), if pollen season was bothering me (it always does) , if I had been sick (Yes I had), or strained my voice, long time smoker, my history of asthma and allergies and sinus infections, if my age means that many females my age lack estrogen which deepens and roughens our voices, etc.Just an abrupt barked out question: How long have you smoked? At age 66, my voice change could be attributed to a multitude of reasons. I tried to explain, stuttering out words (I stutter when I get nervous and she scared me) that I am down to only 4-5 smokes a day and my family doc knows. She just looks at me and states Just quit smoking. Stop trying to cut down.Okay, as long as she thinks it is that easy ???I was terrified of this initial visit. The ER had found a tumor on my thyroid and my parotid (think salivary) glands had impacted/swollen so rapidly within minutes that the ambulance had to come because I could not physically swallow and could not get good air. I was SCARED as heck what the doctor would do or suggest needing done.I was depending on this doctor/PA, whoever saw me, to please help me fix all that was wrong. All of my ER paperwork was in my file. I was trying to explain what was wrong.Instead Quit smoking was her 3rd sentence out of her mouth.By then I was shaking, near tears, and stuttering so badly, my heart was pounding and I just quit talking and just listened a lot. I take meds for my heart rhythm due to heart procedures done. I was a mess.I was defensive and scared at the same time. She did give me an EXCELLENT hands-on, very thorough exam, I will give her that, she was GREAT at that. But her demeanor was so rude, abrupt and I was a new patient who didnt know if I had cancer or would need surgery due to tumor/impacted parotid glands. She explained my family doc would order a scan for the thyroid and her advice for the impacted parotid glands was buy a lot of lemons as many as you can tolerate and mix with water, no sugar, this stimulates the parotid to flush out inflammation. Most of the time she was focused on her tablet/laptop as she talked to me, seldom looking at me as she spoke.Okay, I have bad reflux so after a few days of as many lemons as you can treatment, my reflux was so bad it mimicked the symptoms of a heart attack (pressure in chest and back, pain radiating to the jawline, shortness of breath) but I do know to treat urgent GERD symptoms right away and I knew it wasnt a heart attack. But it was so painful.I felt dismissed as soon as the PA walked into the room.I came home so embarrassed about my HORRIBLE voice that I told my husband what the PA said about my voice, then I quit talking for over 2 weeks unless it was essential. I refused to talk to my family, neighbors, my husband, even the cat, because PA made me so self-conscious that I knew it had to be true, that my voice was HORRIBLE. I lied and told everybody that I had a horrible allergy sore throat and had to rest my voice. I was too ashamed to tell them the PA said my voice was awful. That is MY experience with the PA there. I will never go there again, ever.

If I could rate this place in the negatives, I would. First of all, just rating based off of professionalism, ZEROOOOO. She was rude, wore sandals (I have NEVER met or seen a Doctor wear sandals at work, and I also work for a Doctor myself.) She talked to me for literally like 5 minutes about my medical history, shined a light in my throat, told me she’d refer me and that was the end of my appointment. Fast forward a few weeks and I receive a statement in the mail that I was billed almost $500 for: (description on statement) An O/P procedure for 45-60 minutes. I called them thinking there was a coding mistake. And they told me that was correct and that’s what I will have to pay. I proceeded to tell the lady I spoke with that I was NOT in their office for that long so I shouldn’t be billed for an amount of time that I wasn’t there for. There was no comprehensive exam, there sure as heck was no procedure, I barely even spoke to the Doctor for more than 5 minutes, so the description on the statement stating 45-60 minutes was clearly wrong, and they were obviously trying to lie to find a way to justify charging me that much when it was far from truthful or accurate. But if they adjusted that statement based off of the ACTUAL time I was there, my bill would maybe be $20 which of course does not benefit them..... The lady I spoke with became aggressive with me (clearly not willing to hear me out or make adjustments based off this BS claim) and told me that “I don’t understand how many components go into the Doctor seeing me, like going over my chart before I arrive, going over my medical history, etc.” To which I replied “First of all I do understand, I myself worked for a Doctor for many years as an Dental Assistant before going to school as a Hygienist, so I DO understand what goes into what Doctors do, but your Doctor did not do any of these things that you’re charging me for! I was a new patient that day so I had no chart for her to go over.. And I was in the process of filling out my medical history when I was called back to the room, so she in fact did NOT go over my medical history prior to my arrival.”.. Again, my argument for why I felt this amount was WRONG, clearly calling out their BS. But the more facts I had, the more stubborn she became, obviously putting her foot down refusing to hear me out or help me when they are obviously trying to rip me off.I’m writing this because I feel like I was scammed. And I have NEVER been in a Doctor’s office this unprofessional. The Doctor wore freaking Sandals for crying out loud and it looked her nails hadn’t been done in years. As petty as that detail may be, it seems to be a perfect reflection on their level of professionalism. Save yourself the trouble and stay far away from these scam artists. I feel like you could wave at the Doctor in the hallway and they’d charge you $350 for speaking to her LOL! BS scam.

I am so happy that I was referred to Dr. Damask. She has been an answer to my prayers. I appreciated her knowledge and professionalism. She genuinely cared about my situation and has done everything in her power to help me get the care I need thus far; as well as, referred me to a great specialist for my condition for the future. If youre in need of a caring professional in this field I recommend Cape Fear Otolaryngology, especially Dr. Damask. I also liked that I could submit my information online before my initial appointment (which made it easier to check in the first time) and that I can keep up with my information through their website.

The P.A.Mehta is terrible. Went there to be seen for buzzing in ears the lady that did the hearing test told me I have some hearing loss in both ears that the doctor would go over the results with me. When Mrs. Mehta came in the room she looked down my throat , inside my nose saw that I had a hole which I already had told her about before she saw it asked me if I ever done cocaine I Have Never Done No Drugs so she order a ct of my nose. I asked her about the buzzing in my ears she responded back by saying your ears are fine never looked in either ear , I told her what the lady said about the hearing loss ,so by this time she said I be right back went to get the test and told me I have aging hearing loss there is nothing to be done for the buzzing sound to have hearing test once a year. Never Never looked in either ear.I am getting a 2nd opinion.

I had such a wonderful experience with this office. Dr Alexander is phenomenal! He is so great with both of my kids, he showed genuine concern for their hearing and the office was very quick to schedule their tube surgeries. The follow up was right above what I expected. All around, two thumbs up! Thanks Dr Alexander! You rock!

The short heavyset Dr. Continually accused me of doing cocaine after I told her issues with my nose have been a problem since childhood. I went in for a surgery consult to repair holes in my ears that havent healed since January. And my ent at Womack cant actually do the surgery due to covid. This being said she never looked in my left ear and then after I showed her pictures of the holes in my tempatic membrane, she ignored my concerns and didnt even look in the affected ear. So here I am 6 months after deployment with holes in my ears that prevent me from attending schools and enjoying time with my wife.

My daughter has been going to this office for about 2 years now, and she has had 3 procedures performed. Dr. Mansfield performed her first 2 procedures and Dr. Alexander performed the last, no complaints there. She recently had an appointment on February 5th; her appointment was scheduled for 8:40 am, and we arrived early. There were 2 people at the desk when we arrived, so we had to wait several minutes before checking in at exactly 8:40am. As we sat and waited about 2-3 people were called ahead of my daughter, we were called back around 8:55 and they performed an initial hearing exam on her which took all of 5 minutes. After that we were escorted to a set of seats as we waited for her 2nd hearing exam, at that point we waited 20 minutes. Her 2nd hearing exam took no longer than about 6-8 minutes (possibly less because I only played 2 rounds of diner dash). Immediately following that exam, we were escorted back to same set of seats, we didn’t sit there long before we were escorted into an exam room. In the room , we then waited another 15 minutes, at this point it is about 9:40am and of the hour that I have been in the office 45 minutes of it has been spent waiting (I pop my head out the door and ask how much longer we are going to wait, I was told “there is someone ahead of you”). At about 9:52 I am still waiting and my daughter has a presentation she has to be present for at 10:30am and her school is 23 minutes away from the office (I know that because I pulled it up to see how much longer I could wait to see Dr. Mehta). I made the decision to leave, considering the fact after her second hearing exam the lady told me her problem ear was looking much better and improved. So, when I get to the front desk to ask for a doctor note, I let them know that I left and whether they could have a nurse call me. The receptionist said she would leave a note for the nurse. (mind you, Dr. Mehta ( who we have been seeing) saw us leave and I let her know that we were leaving and could not afford to wait any longer, and I was not the least bit rude because I figured I could call back and get a more detailed explanation of the results). So I didn’t hear anything back all Wednesday, and I call back first thing Thursday Morning and I spoke with a nurse named Brittany, and she initially said “we cannot give any results over the phone, you have to schedule an appointment and come back,” when Brittany said that, I just said I would call back because I was honestly annoyed, especially considering I had to leave the appointment due to lack of initiative when it came to making sure a school aged child was seen in a timely manner. About 10 minutes later Brittany calls me back and says “all we can tell you is her results are normal” and I respond with “ok, are both her ears hearing the same now , and do we need any follow-up appointments,” Brittany then responds with “if you want any more details or to find out about a follow up appointment you have to make an appointment.” So at that point I was done, the fact you can’t answer those simple questions and provide more detail, has me convinced they are just trying to make money, you want to run my insurance for an appointment to find out if I need to make another appointment? You can get PAP smear results over the phone😒....If my daughter ever has any more issues with her hearing, I will be sure to not go to this office again.UPDATE: Dr. Mansfield called me Thursday, February 13th just a few days after I left my review. I appreciate the time he took to call me personally and offer an apology for the experience I had. I have updated my review from 2 to 3 stars.

The surgery scheduling department is very unorganized and does not communicate properly with clients nor within their own department. I went for an appointment and decided to do surgery as soon as possible. I was told that they would contact my insurance to get approved for surgery and I would be contacted to schedule surgery once approved. For 3 weeks without meds as advised for surgery. I waited and finally called my insurance to see what was going on. This clinic never contacted my insurance to get my surgery approved. So I called this clinic and was told that I was suppose to schedule surgery then they would get my insurance approved. Which doesnt make sense and was told differently. Then I was told I could be scheduled for surgery in 2 months. I said that does not work for me. Ive gone 3 weeks without anything as advised and I was barely functioning let alone 2 more months! I knew antibiotics are meant to be temporary used but I couldnt function 2 months without it or surgery. She then told me she would call me back after speaking with my Dr.I get a call back and the clinic has decided to do surgery in 2 days. Well I am not in the least bit prepared. So somehow in 24 hours, I had to manage my job and the deposit, which amazingly my boss is so understanding.I get to surgery day and my Dr. asks me where does it hurt. I point and he marks. Where he marked is where he cut and that was not what we discussed or planned at all. The initial surgery did not happen (cuts were probably too low and surgery was rushed). He had an ultrasound and a CT scan to go by. This leads me to believe he did not take the proper time to go over my case before cutting me open.My problem still continues due to the fact that this clinic did not do their job. Never have I ever dealt with such unprofessionalism concerning surgery or a patients needs. I do not recommend this clinic nor Dr. Richard Alexander.

Dr. Mansfield is a very caring doctor. He performed my sons surgery which has not given him the relief we expected. But Dr. M wants you to call him back and let him know how things are going. His staff is disconnected from him expectations. I have left numerous messages and have not gotten results I expected from call backs. Finally, they passed my son off to Dr. Demask and the last three visits have been absolutely horrible. The first visit she did not even physically examine my son. And she was dismissive of all of my concerns. I expressed my concerns with his allergies. She reluctantly sent him for allergy testing. We never received the results. I called back to Dr. Ms nurse to let them know we are not seeing any progress, then we were told to go back to Dr. Demask. The second visit was worse than the first. I lost my cool because all she kept saying was what she could not do and that she never told me that my son would get better. I asked if he could continue to take a natural medication at home that gives him relief at night time. She asked me to call her back when I got home with the ingredients. That upset me because we were there in-person and yet again we were getting pushed off to call her back. So, I had to pull the ingredients up on my phone in her presence. And she said she wasnt familiar with herbals and could not let me know how to proceed. Finally, she said she would put him on medication after she kept saying he had to wait another 2-3 years to finally figure out what is the underlying issue because of his age. She gave him a medicine for three weeks and she would follow-up and would send him to a specialist if he doesnt get better. Today, we went back for the follow-up and this was the last straw for me. I explained that he visited his PCM last Thursday and had wheezing. The PCM increased the medicine she gave him and asked if she could listen to his lungs to see if she hears wheezing. And she said, I dont have my stethoscope today. So, today my son left her office again not being examined because she still hadnt touched him anyway and its most concerning because I told her he had wheezing. Surely there was someone in the office who had a stethoscope and he should have been properly examined. She said she would be back after she put the paperwork in for a referral, but the nurse came back and told us we were free to leave. And the nurse said we will not have a follow-up with Dr. Demask after he goes for his referral appointment. After we left, I became more and more angry. Dr. Demask is not thorough and I would not refer Dr. Demask to your family. Spend the extra time researching so you can get it right the first time. I wish I had researched her prior to seeing her. Hope to receive feedback from the office to properly address my concerns.S/N: I have been treated by Dr. Alexander and have not complaints with him.Update: Dr. Mansfield called me directly during the same week of my review and apologized for our experience. And he had someone schedule a follow-up appointment to see my son. I really appreciate the apology and the compassion for my sons care.

Dr. Mansfield is a truly amazing and caring doctor. He will go out of his way to make sure your are knowledgeable about your situation and to help his patients in anyway he can.Which is rare....But his staff is a whole different ballgame.I use to a very high opinion of Dr . Mansfield office staff as a whole but n I will I feel like its too many chief and not enough Indians. You have to many people saying to many different things about one subject. An when you catch them in a lie they try to handle you like your unintelligent. They dont have the same comment to care as he does. Which speaks volumes when you start interacting with them. An its a shame cause ive given several opportunity to get it right.

Cant even rate this office, but had to in order to leave review. Only ever saw PA; ear pressures excessively high and only slightly lower upon next visit and scheduled again for a year out. Two double ear infections since Feb. of this year and no appt. available with them for 2 weeks. Did I mention office staff (as I read from another individual) and office mgr. ? Check in flub up and no apology from check in staff; waited almost 4 hours to be seen by PA and watched others being cked, seen and out that came in long after me. Finally had to speak up and then the office mgr. apologizes but also admonishes me that its not unusual to have an hour wait at a Dr.s office. Needless to say I have had only two visits here and will not be back.

Wouldnt let me leave no stars!! My son, now 13, had tubes tonsils, etc removed when he was 4 or 5. No problem with Dr. Mansfield at that time or several post-op visits. However, since about 10 years of age, my son has complained of earaches, had allergies, feels like he has partial hearing loss to the point of learning sign language on his own, reading lips and watching closed caption TV. Yes , I have tried endless times to get appt. when he hurts or complains the most because that is when I feel like they might see what the problem is. However, 6-8 week out appts. do not help. Then I have to see emergency room or other ent in Cary, even checked for TMJ at dentist. Even today tried to make appt before school starts back and was told Sept. 12th was earliest. Mind you I know there are other Drs. but you would think that this office would want to see former patients and follow up with them as they grow up or at least want me to refer others to them. But NO--Then I was told since I was a No show the past 2 appts once more he wouldnt be deleted as a patient! The no-show part is because of the inadequate scheduling of the staff. Talking to other patients parents I am not the only one having these issues. Dr. Mansfield wasnt even aware of how busy he supposedly was in other scheduling issues. His need to see you again in a couple weeks never exists. You have to wait at least a month and a half. So save your headache and go to other ENT there are plenty who want your business and repeat business.

Dr. Mansfield seen me and ran a scope up my nose and check everything out and showed me on the screen what was going on and pointed out the different parts in the throat and how it was connected to the ear through Eustachian tube. A infection in my throat at the tube had it block off and was putting pressure on my middle ear. Pain medicine and antibiotits and was feeling great in a couple of days.
