Took our middle schooler there as they could get us in quickly. Dr. Tufte did take time to explain certain things but I did feel he was bit rushed. They really pushed getting some test (for an extra fee not covered by insurance)on to view the back of the eye. The staff was very nice and accommodating although the lady at the front desk seemed a bit pushy and snooty...didnt want to give us the prescription to buy elsewhere. Prob wont go back.

Dr.Tufte makes you feel comfortable with the entire appointment process. He makes the information easy to understand and makes you feel like he’s known you for years and is very kind and hands down favorite eye doctor to see in Fargo. Front desk could be a little less rude but overall a great experience!! Recommend Eyes on 45th to anyone seeking a good place to go to!

Getting my exam at Eyes On Broadway was a very pleasant experience. The staff is friendly and helpful and the facility is attractive. Dr. Tufte does a thorough eye exam and carefully explains all the images that result from the exam. Absolute worst experience ever. I had an eye exam and the very next day developed pink eye. Called them and they prescribed eye drops, that I had to pay for. I watched as multiple people used machines that were never cleaned between patients and Im sure thats how I acquired pink eye. STAY AWAY from this place.

Asked ahead of time if my insurance would cover everything and they lied just to get me in for the exam, then tell me they wont sell me glasses and that I’M RUDE because i repeated what was said to me, by their employee, over the phone when making the appointment. Dont waste your time because they dont have any respect for the customer and also their selection is terrible! Glad i went somewhere else.

Dr Tufte is amazing. He has a passion for his profession that I’ve never seen with other providers.They had a number of sales reps/vendors in the office, which was distracting....their side conversations with each other and bags and boxes all over.

Deb, Dr Tuftes wife, greeted me by name. She appeared cheerful & busy with customers & patients. There was some new staff from a year ago, but introduced themselves in a friendly greeting. The equipment is advanced & thorough with health of eye care. Dr Tufte, is always efficient, friendly & informative in his exam. The associates guide me in choosing & finding a fashionable & well fitting pair of glasses. I agree, at times, that their prices may be higher end. They do have sales & specials throughout the year. When my insurance changed, I was prepared to find a different optimaligist. I was grandfathered in much to my relief. When I choose to purchase my glasses elsewhere, I was given my Rx on the spot. Ive returned to Dr Tuftes due to quality service.

Horrible service. Never been a patient of his nor will I ever be a patient! I recommend no one go to this office. I currently see Dr Rexine at Eyes on Broadway and received excellent service.

My visit was okay. Some people were very nice, other a bit pushy. What I didnt appreciate is it seemed the Dr. Tufte didnt listen to me or he was just trying to push me to buy glasses from his office. I told him I have glasses with transition lens, but he kept telling me I should buy glasses with transition lenses. He was also acting like my prescription got better, maybe to make me feel good, but my prescription got worse. Just disappointed that he seemed like he was in a rut and really didnt take the effort to listen to his client.

Dr. Tufte and his staff are very thorough and complete in their assessment and care of your eyes, and Dr. Tufte will answer any questions you have and give you all the options specific for your needs. Love this place and Dr. Tuftes care! And enjoy the coffee and goodies as well.

Had a wonderful experience with Dr. Tufte and his entire staff from the front desk check in to the technician doing my testing. Everyone was super friendly and so very nice! When Dr. Tufte came into see me, he came in with such an up beat, positive energy! I was his last patient to see in what probably was a very long, busy day but he still came in with a beaming smile and took the time to explain in detail all of my test results with me; making me feel like I was his very1st patient of the day and not his last. Dr Tufte has been my eye doctor many years. He is very thorough and up to date. I am so glad I found him. Great assistant too.2 years ago I wrote that. Went back 10/30/20. He gave me over the counter eye drops with a ridiculous price. Told him I had sore eyes, bcuz of where I worked. Dusty. Like now he could give me expensive OTC eye drops. He isnt even there full time anymore.And the receptionist is not friendly

Set an appointment on monday for thursday. They told me specifically that they are covered by my vision insurance. (EyeMed) I took off work for my appointment, only to find out they in fact do not accept my insurance.Also you have to walk through a beauty salon to get into this place of incompetence... Booooo

I have been a patient of Dr. Tufte since 1994 when he was associated with Merit Care now Sanford. I always get expert advice with the newest most advanced eye and retna detecting devices in the Fargo Moohead area. The office staff are expertly trained and are very friendly towards all customers. I would recommend Dr. Tufty for all your eye care needs including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and any eye disease,as well as day to day optical check ups for glasses and contact lenses. He has the equipment that is up-to-date that will immediately detect and help to assess any problems that you might be having associated with your eyes. His wife Deb also works for him as office manager and provides coffee, cookies, and fantastic homemade fudge that is always a treat each time I go. I have a optic nerve damage to my left eye and have to have it checked four times a year and he has the latest up-to-date scanning equipment in order to do this and compare the past to the present, I give Dr. Tufty my full trust in my eye care and have over 25 years. Please beware!!Because of Dr Tufte and his misdiagnosis of my eye condition I lost sight in my eye and will have problems for the rest of my life. He is not a medical Doctor and didnt send me to one until it was too late.

I went to Dr. Tufte for a few years from 2012 to 2015Every time I arrived to check in at the Broadway location the woman at the front desk seemed more intrerested in visiting with people that were already there than in checking me in. I remember one instance in particular where she was visiting with another patron about a car incident/accident that her son had been involved in. Her son was concerned about the other persons insurance coverage or something like that and she made an offhand comment about the other person most probably being some 15 dollar an hour worker somewhere and this was to be expected from someone like that.. At that time I was working a custodial job making a little less than 15 dollars an hour, It was extremely enlightening to me to hear her views of effects of low and moderate income levels on a persons charachter and integrity.The last time I ordered glasses from Dr. Tufte I could not see clearly out of them and I had to have them remade 5 times. I just could not see out of them. Dr. Tufte made it clear he was not interested in working with me in resolving the issue and that he had refracted me correctly and that I should work with the the opticians so that they could adjust the glasses I could not see clearly out of. After the 5th remake of these glasses the lab refused to keep remaking the lenses, at that point Dr. Tufte refunded my money and dismissed me as a patient. I took the prescription Dr. Tufte had written for me and I went to Sanford eye clinic There I saw Dr Edwards and It was determined my prescription was off significantly and I was issued a new prescription and ordered a pair of glasses i could see out of with little problemIt is important to note that I have a difficult prescription and some uncommon eye problems. Dr Tufte is a competent optometrist and I felt he gave thorough eye exams and correctly identified the increased intraocular pressure in my eyes and gave me a referral to an eye surgeon for laser surgery to have it mitigated. Having said that, if you have a complicated eye glass prescription I would not recommend him. He is unwilling to investigate all avenues of what the solution to your problem may be ( such as fitting you with trial lenses from a lens kit, which it turned out is ALWAYS advisable when dealing with prisms in glasses. A phoropter refraction is NOT the same as wearing glasses and the results you get from it may differ significantly from a refraction using trial lenses.) It is also worth noting that they price their glasses frames at what I consider a ridiculous premium. They sell frames there for up to three and four hundred dollars that can be purchased online often for hundreds of dollars less for the same frame. As an example I purchased a frame from the office for $275.00 dollars that I was able to order directly online for $85.00. I under stand making a profit but an almost 200 dollar mark up on a pair of plastic frames seems a bit extreme to me. You are paying for a boutique atmosphere less than Stellar service and some cookies and brownies they keep out for patrons to snack on.I would recommend either the Hillmer eye clinic if you have strabismus (crossed eyes) , amblyopia (lazy eye) or a need for prisms in your glasses.I will reitterate that Dr. Tufte is a competent Optometrist and you will likely have a satisfactory if overly expensive experience with him if you have fairly common issues with your eyesight. If you have difficult to diagnose problems or less than common problems that require your optometrist to be more involved with exploring what you need and what your options are with your vision correction needs this is not the man for you to visit.

Dr. Tufte is a nice enough guy and the exam was thorough and informational, but he felt a lot more like a salesman than a healthcare provider. Even with EyeMed, I cant afford any of their frames nor any of their contact lenses, as they are all name-brand products. The frames are an easy enough fix — just get your Rx and order them from elsewhere. But if you wear contacts that arent one of their featured brands (which can be found on their website), dont go here. I wish I had known this before I went.They only offer a few brands of contacts and even though their website says These are our most common brands. Other brands are available, they will not work with you to explore other options, not even if you are honest and admit that financial hardships prevent you from being able to afford the specific brand they want you to have. I also question their organization. When I went in today, they couldnt even find my chart at first! When they did, it was incomplete. After my exam less than a year ago, even though I said I was not interested in trying a different brand of contacts than the one I have been using since 2008 with no issues, they put me in a contact fitting anyway (without informing me that it would incur an additional cost). They gave me a couple trial pairs of daily contacts, but didnt write either of them down in my chart. A few hours later, they called me and said Dr. Tufte had changed his mind on the type of contacts I should use (which had a different BC than either of the ones I was given to try) and didnt offer me a trial pair. So when I went to reorder contacts this month, the only contacts I was permitted to order were contacts that I have never tried with a BC size I have never, ever worn.I am a graduate student in a healthcare field. I dont have a car. I am the kind of person where $5 feeds me for a week. I am losing my insurance coverage in a few months. They didnt care. They just cared about money, pushing their feature brands of contacts, and making it impossible for you to get the healthcare you need unless you can pay top dollar for the brands that put the most money in their pockets.(I cant believe Im about to say this but) Go to Walmart or Sams Club for your eye care needs. They will carry more contacts and I suspect will be more amenable to working with you if there is a brand of contacts you have used your whole life, since theyre already a billion dollar company and wont be name-brand pushers. I dont normally support big box stores, but if the local businesses wont help you, you have to go elsewhere.As a patient, I expect to be treated with respect wherever I choose to go for healthcare. I am a person, not an ATM. My experience reflects that you will be treated as the latter at this establishment.
