Professional, empathetic, and informative. I brought my 10 year old corn snake in to Pender Exotics hospital today to be seen for an issue with his tail. We received information on how to access the clinic with a text that told us to park in a specific area in the back where their Exotics clinic is located. We arrived a little early but were seen immediately and in a room within minutes. 2 vet techs took our information down and weighed my snake, then let us know the vet would be in momentarily. The vet, Dr. Reukauf, was kind, confident, and knowledgeable. My snake was prescribed an antibiotic regimen via intramuscular injection and I was shown expertly how to perform the injections myself at home. I went in today very nervous for my snake, and come what may, I am confident that the Pender Exotics team will make him comfortable and as healthy as can be.

Pender is not our regular vet since we live a decent drive away, but they took wonderful care of our pup during a weekend (off-hours) emergency when our vet was closed. She ended up staying overnight with them and it was clear that she was well-loved during her time there. All of the vets and vet techs we interacted with were communicative, caring, and willing to answer all of our questions. Very thankful for their great emergency care - our girl is home and on the mend!

The BEST care my dog and I have ever experienced! We originally went to Pender because it was the only ER not at capacity and after that first visit it became our “FOREVER VET”. All of the doctors were communicative-calling when they said they would, checking in consistently, really listened, spent real time speaking with me, and even texted and sent pictures and videos. My dog (a french bulldog) had to go under anesthesia; I was worried about this because of the risk this poses especially for bully breeds. The doctors really listened to my concerns and the precautions they took before, during and after anesthesia went beyond thorough and they kept me in the loop every step of the way. I cannot speak highly enough of this STELLAR group of veterinarians, veterinary assistants, and staff. We are eternally grateful to Pender and so thankful to have found our forever vet!!

Then what do you know I get a bill in the mail from collections. They had the decency to call me. That was 2 days ago and the said they would send a message for Pender to call me back as I have yet to get any response but you want me to pay a bill!!!!I dont recommend this place if you want a response or results.

We actually went here a while ago but Im only now getting around to reviewing. We moved to Virginia and shortly after my dog with Cushings started deteriorating quickly. We brought her in to Pender and they supported our decision to put her to rest. Since we didnt know anyone who could watch him, my husband took care of my 1 yo son, while the extremely kind and patient vet sat with me (8 months pregnant at the time) on the floor while she passed. They offered to spread her ashes and pressed her paw print into clay with her name as a keepsake. They were very kind to a sobbing, hormonal, emotional wreck of a pregnant woman.

Thankfully I’ve never had to call 911, and I didn’t think I’d be tempted to during a vet visit during a global pandemic. Especially over a vet appointment , but I’ve never had a vets office hold my turtle and credit card hostage. These people are just mean and dishonest . They told me the vet that would see my Razorback Musk had experience with that bred, she didn’t . She wasted most of the 12 whole minutes I got asking about history. Which I’d given to 3 different staff members , 3 different times. And she was googling info about him during the appointment , she wasn’t familiar enough to identify him, or I guess read any of the 3 histories. She told me nothing I hadn’t read on the internet . Which was especially upsetting because it took a week to get the appointment, 45 minutes to drive there , and they treated me terribly . If you’re running over an hour late, you can call people. Especially when you know people drive for hours sometimes to get their exotic pets seen. No one called me or said anything about this hour plus wait before I left the house, once I arrived promptly, or during check in . After sitting in my car for an hour , I called them and things got very weird . Suddenly no one is answering the phone, it took me 10 minutes to get someone. At this point I was so uncomfortable with how unprofessional they were being I told them I wanted my turtle and I wanted to leave . They placed me on hold, and magically the vet has my turtle. Which she knows little about , she knew so little she thought he was starving because he’s a very small turtle and she’d never seen one. That’s not what I consider an exotic vet , and they had a week to research it and I would have never known, but they’re too lazy to cover up their lies . It was just bizarre , and it’s an hour and a half after my appointment . So my mind is blown, I want my turtle and I wanted to go . It was a waste of my time, I didn’t want to or feel like it was right for them to charge me with the long wait and the no experience , and not telling me anything I didn’t know . I thought I was seeing a specialist . Than I asked if they could just give him antibiotics, give him back , and let me talk to a supervisor .15 more minutes go by no supervisor , no turtle. I’m calling and calling because I had to leave . I figured I would speak to the supervisor later and surely no one would pay for this joke, except for the antibiotics . Suddenly the supervisor is outside telling me I can’t have my turtle until I pay in full . I explain I have to go , I didn’t know this appointment would exceed 2 hours and I’d like to speak to her about this later . She refused to let me go without me giving her my credit card . So I agreed to just get out of there . And than she pulled the extra passive aggressive move of making me wait 20 more minutes , just to make it the worst customer service and vet appointment I ever had . Which says a lot because I’ve had pets for almost 40 years. I had also asked to use the restroom , which the vet said she’d sent someone straight down. I explained I was doing the pee pee dance . So I got out of my car and as I walked up to the door a man opened the front door for me and held it so I assumed he worked there . A girl started screaming , no people are allowed in here . As If I was purposefully doing something wrong, and breaking Covid protocol . Because no one has to use the restroom after waiting 2 hours in their car . They honestly just suck as people, I wouldn’t trust them. I’d never go back or recommend them. The police did say I should have contacted them when I did call the non emergency number later and told me to write reviews to help the public and report them to the better business bureau. When I told them I had to go because I only have one day off a week and another appointment that day . The supervisor asked me why I’d make another appointment the same day . As if it normal to be hanging out at the vet for 2 hours . How dare me schedule something else to do 3.5 hours after my vet appointment was suppose to start .

I would first like to say that I know when people lose their pets they take it out on whoever they can, and Im not going to do that here.I brought my hamster, Bear, here a few days ago. The staff were extremely kind, and responsive, and very helpful. They even let me know what the visit fee would cost up front so there would be no suprises. They gave her back to me and she looked much better. However, the more I gave my pet the medicine I was given and followed all the directions, the worse she became. She passed away three days later. I do not know if it was just because of her age, or if it was a medical mistake, but I wish I knew. I am very sad to have lost my pet, especially after paying the $244 to try and make her well again. That being said, the staff were very kind and responded quickly, The price is high, but it makes sense for an emergency center. I sincerely thank the staff for doing what they could.

Weve been going to Pender since relocating to Northern VA in 2009. For the longest time, our pets have always received exemplary care, and the staff seemed to have genuine concern for the well being of their patients. Weve really appreciated some of the vets who took care of our animals, and we were glad to be able to see the same doctors at every appointment. The customer service, appointment availability, and general care has been going downhill for us since 2019. I understand the challenges that the pandemic caused in 2020, but there have been so many issues above and beyond that its become a nightmare to bring our pets here. Ridiculous wait times both at appointments and on the phone, doctor turnover, competing for appointment slots - its very disappointing. The final straws for me were 1) I was unable to schedule an appointment in the same week for a laceration on my cats tail that ended up needing stitches - I was able to have it handled same day at a different vets office with no emergency charge; and 2) I was unable to bring my dog in for an emergency appointment for prolonged diarrhea and vomiting because their ER was at capacity. And now they have completely limited the hours of emergency services? Last time I checked, emergencies occur at all hours of the day.As much as I would like to continue to patronize Pender, I am beginning the search for a new provider. I cannot rely on this facility to be available when needed and trust that my pets will receive the care they need and deserve.

Expensive but worth it. Best emergency vet in the area, had to take my guinea pig here at 2am and they were wonderful. They’re great at answering questions on the phone so you don’t have to make an appointment for every little thing. Regular appointments can be a bit hit or miss so I tried 2 vets before I liked the one I had. Phone service is always friendly but sometimes a long wait, appointments can be a long wait, too.

We absolutely love Pender Vet in Fairfax! Our golden retriever puppy, Barkley Rose, has visited Pender twice since coming home from the breeder. We like their friendly approach to taking care of our furry friends. From the kindness of the hands free drop off nurses to the warmth and knowledge of the vets (Dr. Carney & Dr. Flanary), they are a wonderful community resource. We have already recommended Pender to 2 friends. Even in a pandemic, their compassion and excellence shines through. They are very receptive to answering all of your questions in a timely and thoughtful manner. So glad to be a new happy customer. Thanks! Kathy

After moving here to the area, we moved our dog’s prescription to the local Pender Veterinary office. The typical price that we paid for the prescription was $120 at the vet office we used before and happens to be the same price offered on their preferred pharmacy website provided by Pender. Pender charges $220. When I inquired about the reason for the cost it was explained to me that they didnt have the bargaining power that the larger website has. This is price gouging and lying to customers at its worst, and sheer incompetence at best. Having managed several pharmaceutical inventories over the years, this is very likely true. However smaller entities like the vet office I was with and Pender typically form groups for bargaining power. Being a well-respected clinic in the area with multiple locations, I cant hardly believe that Pender Veterinary Centre is incompetent.

I just want to thank Pender Vet for their amazing work and service. I have 3 guinea pigs who are my life. They are my first pets I have ever owned and I was worried that when I found a vet, they wouldnt care as much as I do especially since they are small pets and not cats or dogs. That is definitely not the case here at Pender Vet. Dr. Galya Fedderly has been absolutely amazing. I struggle with severe anxiety so my list of questions is always extremely long, but Dr. Fedderly has taken the time to answer each and every one. She is extremely reliable and definitely cares about your pets just as much as you do. I would also like to give a shoutout to one of the receptionists/front desk girls. I spoke to Wendy last week in regards to some medication for my guinea pigs. I quickly became anxious about the decisions that were going to be made and she did an amazing job at letting me know that it was ok to call back in a couple of days with my decision. She was professional yet understanding. Over all I have experienced nothing but care and patience at this location. Both towards myself and my 3 guinea pigs.Thank you so much Pender Vet!

I have had the WORST experience at this vet office. If you read this I will tell you exactly why! My Bearded dragon I had prolapsed, if you are familiar with this issue it will happen more frequently once it does happen. I had to ask them about a permanent fix for the situation, because they couldn’t politely tell me to not spend $700 every couple months that too instead pay $500 to permanently fix the situation. Because the want your money. I called and spoke with this vet at 3:48 PM on 6/29/21, they informed me of the price of the surgery, and to call them when I left Winchester Virginia to come to their location in Fairfax. At 6:15 PM that evening I called them and let them know I was on the way. They insist on telling me that there are no spots they’re available for emergency appointments and that they don’t even do that surgery. After telling me This morning that it was going to be all taken care of. So since I had to Call around and wait to get in somewhere because their office misinformed me I had to have my lizard put to sleep that day because of them. Them promising me that they could get this situation taken care of and a person and their exotics department failed to put me on the schedule and do their job. I do not recommend this facility at all. they are cold hearted money hungry people and I will never ever be back there.

The night of April 11, I would have given this place 5 stars, but as of April 30, its one star. On April 11 I had to put my budgie of 11 years down, she had been seizing for an hour when we finally came across Pender ( the closest vet with an avian vet readily available) we drove the hour there, and at this point my baby had been seizing almost non stop for two hours. While we were on our way over we communicated over the phone, telling them her age, her name (which they would continuously get wrong), what type of bird she was, and that we wanted euthanasia. When we got there and they came to pick her up, we confirmed the information, and told the lady who picked her up that we didnt want her to suffer anymore, and she said okay, and that we would be brought up in a little bit. We filled out the form, and waited in the car some more, before they brought us up where we waited another hour for her to be put down. We thought the wait time was due to other patients, but we would later learn that was not the case. On April 30, we got an invoice saying we owed Pender 144 dollars, 19 days after we paid (and signed) for them to have my bird euthanized. The problem with this charge is that it was never brought up to any of us that there would be an additional charge, otherwise we wouldnt have had a problem. One of my sisters paid, but we later found out that, despite being told her age, what WE the family wanted, and what was best for my baby, they decided to try to stabilize her (against our knowledge, common sense, and compassion). I thought the biggest problem leaving with my baby in a box, was them writing the wrong name on said box, I would later learn it would be me going home thinking I did the right thing by bringing my baby to Pender.

Six weeks and a thousand dollars later she still has a broken leg and the only option we were given was an amputation that would cost at minimum another thousand dollars. Maybe its the fact to that Ive spent a collective 10 hours sitting in my car waiting to get a phone call from someone Im not allowed to see who has allegedly looked at my pet, but I frankly feel there is a strong element of grift to this operation, I feel like theyve exploited Covid to rake in high margin profits at the expense of compassion or integrity. So I’m writing this heartbroken and still crying but wanted to say thank you for the care you gave to my Whiskey. Whiskey the ferret was about 7, I rescued him about 6 years ago when I had two other ferrets one of whom I rescued after someone dumped him in the Petsmart I was a manager of. Whiskey was the last one of the three and such a good boy. He was diagnosed w insulinoma in august and was holding his own. My exotic vet is usually Stahl just because that’s where I started. I came in 3 nights ago to feed Whiskey and I knew right away something was really wrong. It was almost midnight and Pender was my only option. I can’t say enough about the care he received. Doctors Carroll and Wong were so caring and I felt like he was in incredible care when he needed it. Given the current situation w Covid and things being so different yes it kinda sucked not being able to visit him but I get it. Someone wrote in a review how horrible it was not being able to go inside the facility. They are doing that to protect the doctors, the staff, the pet parents and even the pets themselves and ALL vets are doing the same thing. My usual vet I take my non exotics to is practicing the same exact protocol and as a immunosuppressed person who has autoimmune diseases I respect and appreciate that. The doctors thought he was doing well enough that he could come home and I could love on him for a little while longer. It didn’t turn out that way, by no fault of the doctors care. I was devastated when I thought I was coming to get it to take him home even for just a few days and instead I got a call that things were not looking so good. Dr Wong was there to assure me I was doing the right thing and so sweet and explained every step to me. Both her and Dr Carroll were phenomenal in their care of my animal and also in helping me. And yes I got to go inside and spend time w him to say goodbye which I am so grateful for. This was 30 minutes before New Years. I’m so upset that I lost my sweet baby but I could not have asked for better care for him for the 2 1/2 days he was in their care. Thank you to everyone who took care of him, from the doctors and the sweet tech w the colored hair to the girls that answered the phone, thank you to all of you. I will never forget you and all you did.

I have taken my beloved animals to Pender for a very long time. My experience is that Pender is the gold standard of veterinary care. There are several doctors on duty at any given time and a first class hospital attached. Everyone I have met there has the highest professional standards. Its a wonderful thing to be able to call about a general issue and get information without the person on the other end asking are you a patient here before giving the information. I have never been asked that. I get the feeling that almost everyone there works for the love of animals first and the pay second, third or fourth on the list of why they like their job. I so recommend Pender.

I had to take my husky, Cheyenne, to the ER the other day. She had a BAD cold that scared me quite a bit. Keep in mind, I have had Huskies for almost 22 years and worked at a dog hotel in the area for years. I had never seen such a bad cold in a dog! She had also never even vomited in almost 6 years! Healthiest dog I have ever seen!I called the regular vet and could not get an appointment due to lack of staff. I called Pender, explained the situation, and they said “bring her now.” What a relief it was to get care for my dog right away!I was a complete wreck. My dog was sneezing blood, sounded like a congested human with sleep apnea, and had a small fever. The tech met me out front, explained what tests they would run, and told me the doctor would call once the tests were done. It was about 3-4 hours as expected.Dr. Lentz was right to the point, explained everything she tested/x-rayed in detail, and got my baby on the medications she needed to bounce back quickly! Here we are 4 days later and my dog is almost 100% better due to the care in the ER with fluids and antibiotics plus at-home regimen of antibiotics and appetite stimulant to help with eating.I will be returning to Pender for all of my dog’s health needs and HIGHLY recommend their regular vet office and ER!I am not sure how my bill compared to other vets. But it was 1k for chest x-rays, a FULL blood panel in every area, IV fluids, an antibiotic injection, 2 weeks of Clavomax twice a day, a bottle of Entyce appetite stimulant, and the exam. I would have paid anything to get my dog better. But that’s a synopsis for those comparing prices. The care my dog received was incredible and we are so lucky to have Pender!

I’ve called and asked if I should sit outside and continue to wait or go home and wait for a call. They talked to the doctor and then told me the doctor would call me within 15 mins. It’s been 35 mins since then. I understand it’s an emergency hospital, but at my regular vet for my dog, they have the techs call and let me know if my dog has been seen or if he’s still waiting or not take him back until the doctor is ready, or if there are delays. I haven’t heard a word, had to call and the first time I called I waited so long on hold it hung up on me the second time I was told the doctor would call in 15 mins. Once they finally called they explained they’re understaffed and the doctor was very friendly.

Dr. Flanary aways has time to answer my endless questions whether that means answer a phone call at 10pm on his day off, or squeezing my dog in at 7am for his latest ailment. I would recommend Dr. Flanary and his team to anyone looking for exceptional pet service!!!

Two of my three senor dogs needed some services on July 16, 2019. I had an appointment for one but brought along the second dog, to request lab work to be forwarded to an outside cardiologist. Dr. Denney went above and beyond to take care of all of it. I first came to see Dr Denney in the late 1990s, and have seen several other vets at Pender, as well as emergency service, with great satisfaction. The compassion shown me, my being present during procedures, when possible, has been tremendously reassuring. I have deep interest and need to understand what is happening at all times. At Pender, my intense curiosity to be as well informed and active in my pets health care as is possible has been fulfilled with Dr. Denney. Every visit, I can rely that he brings passion and expertise for working with animals and their people. Dr. Denney carries out all tasks so swiftly and efficiently, allowing enough time to listen and to discuss, keeping me involved and informed. The balance is perfect, and that is hard to find. Thank you, Dr. Denney and Pender Veterinary Center.

I would highly recommend using Dr. Jason Flanary and his team at Pender Veterinary. As an owner of two English Bulldogs, I have been going to Dr. Flanary for almost two years and have received exceptional service. He is willing to work with my schedule and has stayed at the office after hours so I could bring the puppies in.What I have appreciated the most is working with the same staff members. Specifically, working with the same team has really made both of my dogs feel much more comfortable going to the office. Both Dr. Flanary and Fiorella both always know why I am coming into the office and are able to explain the best course of action. I believe this has led to better care for my dogs and has improved my experience with the office. I know that both of my dogs are truly excited when they get to the office and see Dr. Flanary and Fiorella. Additionally, they always send me adorable pictures of my dogs, when they have to stay for a few hours. If you are looking for a Veterinarian that provides wonderful service and work with the same team members, contact Dr. Flanary.

Dr. Flanary, and Fiorella are unquestionably the top veterinary team that we could ever hope for to care for our Bulldog. As experienced English Bulldog owners, our family is very particular about ensuring the best veterinary care for our pups, and from providers that understand and appreciate the idiosyncrasies of the breed. Years ago, we had a terrible experience with another vet, whose inexperience with Bulldogs resulted in the loss of our sweet boy. Given this history, we can say without any hesitation that Dr. Flanary and Fiorella are the absolute best, and we trust them completely.Dr. Flanary and Fiorella (Team F&F) are a power team who bring a unique approach to both veterinary patient care, as well as “bedside manner” to the family. Our English Bulldog, Carla, was born with some severe health problems that resulted in incidents of aspiration pneumonia twice this past year. Through this profoundly terrifying experience, we were reassured by Team F&F’s dedicated, around the clock care that saved Carla’s life at least twice. The fact that Carla was being treated by Team F&F, rather than a single Veterinarian with a series of otherwise interchangeable assistants made all the difference in the quality of care and in the comfort of our family. Our previous bad experience (in NJ, not VA) was due to an inexperienced Veterinarian that did not permit owners to go into the treatment rooms to observe or assist in keeping their pet calm. With this history, we have been understandably gun-shy about any vet who wants to take our pups in the back without us.The COVID restrictions of the past year made going into the office impossible, which significantly increased our stress levels as Carla had these acute life-threatening situations. Our anxiety was only lessened through the calming and understanding presence of Fiorella, who always came out to meet us personally in the parking lot for a masked exchange and the constant communications with Dr. Flanary to provide us with updates on Carla’s condition. As the situation escalated to requiring overnight stays in the ICU with oxygen, we were calmed by knowing that Fiorella was spending extra hours cuddling with Carla to keep her calm so that she would not hyperventilate.I knew from speaking with Dr. Flanary that he did not have high expectations of Carla’s survival and tried to prepare us for that reality, while being careful not to advise us to undertake any unnecessarily expensive measures that would have little likelihood of success. Ultimately, these extreme measures were unnecessary, and Carla made a full recovery, thanks largely to the love and attention that she received from Team F&F.I have no doubt that if it had not been for the care and compassion of Team F&F, Carla would not be here with us today. Because of their team approach to caring for our pup, she is living a comfortable and happy life.

We’ve been Pender clients for years. We work with and adopt older rescues and are at Pender often, very often. Pender has fantastic doctors, great support staff, and have provided great support during some very tough times. We should have written several reviews long ago for some amazing doctors(Julia Finlayson, Andrew Voell, Adam Chung), wonderful pharmacy staff(Tracy, Josh), and the numerous techs and front desk staff.Over the past year or so most of our babies have been seeing Dr. Flanary and his partner Fiorella. After being clients for a decade, it was immediately clear they are an especially great team. We had a familiar face each time and Fiorella and Dr. Flanary seemed more informed and more organized. The flow of the visits was just smoother and it felt more personal. The check in/check out process was smoother, quicker. If we had medications, they were right there with our babies when they were brought out to us or one of them would follow up to be sure they were filled. Our visits with Dr. Flanary and Fiorella were really, really good and less stressful. Eventually we had to let them know just how much we appreciated them. That is when they explained that they teamed together as much possible. Our visits with other doctors involved a rotating array of wonderful techs and support staff, and while they are all amazing, they just didn’t have that flow and togetherness that came with the consistency of this team. Once we saw it, we couldn’t not see it. Pender is a big operation with a lot of moving parts, and Dr. Flanary and Fiorella somehow managed to carve out something that feels much more personal. The two of them are so in sync that we know communicating with one of them will lead to both having full awareness of our pets’ needs. Fiorella in particular really took to our most recent rescue, an older pit-mix who has a big bark but is really a sweetheart. Previous vet visits with our new baby started with requests for a muzzle. When our pup exited the building after her first visit with Dr. Flanary and Fiorella, the muzzle was gone and Fiorella was leading a very happy pittie back to us! Beyond the technical aspects of the visit, I received the best pep talk from Fiorella. She reassured me that our girl was wonderful, just a bit scared and that she wouldn’t need that muzzle again. Yeah, tears. This woman has been an amazing resource as we’ve navigated living with dogs for the first time. She’s suggested food and dog training and has reassured us when we’ve needed guidance. More recently this same pup needed oral surgery, so when we dropped her off early in the morning we were bummed to hear Fiorella wasn’t in the office yet. When we picked up our girl that evening we learned that when Fiorella arrived for her shift, she noticed our girl on the schedule and specifically tracked down our pup to comfort her as she waited for surgery. These two have impacted our furry family in so many ways. Vet visits can be incredibly stressful, and sometimes very sad. Seeing a familiar face greet you when it’s time to hand a leash over, receiving steady communication throughout the process, and a sense of familiarity and trust can save you so much worry - especially when your loved ones are not well. Their partnership has provided the most holistic vet care and built so much trust - not just with us but also with our dogs. Our cats are indifferent. We only wish all pet parents could rely on the extensive resources of a facility like Pender, while also receiving the attention and compassion often only seen in smaller, neighborhood clinics.

Pender is a wonderful exotic veterinary practice who truly cares about the animals they treat. After an emergency appointment for one of my guinea pigs (where she was promptly treated and given appropriate medication and treatment plan) I got a call from the vet to check in to see how she was doing. This was so nice to know we have a knowledgeable and trusted vet on our side in care of our little friends. Whenever I call with a question even if I dont have an appointment they answer it and are helpful and caring over all. #1 exotic vet in the area with great bedside manner and lots of knowledge. The vet and vet tech were both very sweet, listened to what I told them in earnest, and addressed every question I had about my kitty’s senior care (she’s 12!).I feel like the exam and tests were very thorough, and she’s doing great. Where do I start? Our dog, Yuna, who will be 2 years old around October, has had quite a lifetime already and multiple visits over at Pender Veterinary Centre. It all started when she got a hold of my wifes medication and was rushed here as it was the only place nearby that stayed open late. They saved her life and made sure she was healthy again. They didnt even charge that much for all the amazing care they gave her.A few months later Yuna unfortunately managed to get a cut in her paw and was once again rushed here. This time it was during a global pandemic. They however handled the situation amazingly and provided an amazing curbside drop-off and pickup service allowing for us to bring her in. They cleaned the wound, put on a bandage and gave us proper instructions on how to take care of it. The wound healed nicely, thanks to them. They were also always ready to give us answers on any questions we had and promptly prepared pain killers when Yuna was in pain.Once Yunas paw healed she unfortunately had an issue with a wound on one of her paw pads and at the same time managed to get a yeast infection in her ear. We werent even aware of the latter until we brought her in to get her vaccines up-to-date and get her paw checked out. They once again helped amazingly through all of this. Now it was time for Yuna to finally get spayed and after all our previous encounters with Pender we entrusted them with her. They once again did an amazing job and kept her overnight for monitoring without charging nearly as much as most other places would, yet giving a better care. Now Yuna is at home recovering well thanks to their work and instructions. We absolutely love Pender Veterinary Centre and their staff for all the amazing things they have done for us. Theyre always there when we need them and truly care to give Yuna the best possible care she could possibly get. Thanks to them she has the chance on living a fulfilling and happy life.I highly recommend this place for when your dog needs any care whatsoever as there is no better place around. Thank you Pender for everything youve done for us.P.S: They always tell us how good of a girl Yuna is but it definitely is part due to all your staff. She loves hanging out with you.

I cannot recommend after unnecessary services nearly killed my dog. My dog threw up a few times in a week so I brought her in. They took X-rays and ultrasound and said there was a puzzle piece in her stomach. I agreed to endoscopy and surgery if necessary. During endoscopy her heart rate spiked and they could not continue with the operation. The next day the ultrasound comes back clear and the diagnosis is gastroenteritis. The costs for these services were astronomical and they were ultimately unnecessary. After speaking with Anne in client services, I was told they’d use this as a training opportunity. Hopefully no one else has to go through this with their beloved pets.

We are new to the area and decided on Pender when our French Bulldog needed to see a Vet because of its proximity and being open 24 hours. The size and number of services intimidated us though, thinking it could mean they charge more in order to be able to provide those services. So far I am happy to say that Penders service has been the best of any Vet we have been to and the prices are very reasonable. The two Vets we have seen have been extremely friendly and took the time to educate us on our dogs condition and available treatment options. When my dog needed to stay overnight to have a procedure done the next morning, they didnt even charge us to board her. Again, they value the health and well-being of the pets and parents they serve and we are happy to know we now have a reliable and trusted place to take our dog when she needs medical care.

We take them here for annual preventative care/labs and nail trims, as well as unexpected emergencies, and have had nothing but good experiences. We started going to Pender Exotics several years ago one of our rabbits broke his leg at night when our (at the time) normal vet’s office was closed. My petbird- a parrotlet experienced fatigue and decreased mobility for 2 days. Upon presentation, I initially & verbally allow emergent resuscitation for this visit, but later I changed my mind and indicated that on the required admission forms. Obviously they didn’ t read the forms ( which they said they would before an emergency & they did the resuscitation anyway). Although they did later reimburse me that expensive resuscitation cost but to me, that was negligent because they didn’t read all the details I wrote on those forms (relevant to this bird). Also they failed to recognize the delicate condition of the bird, & recommended X-ray and blood work which also required sedation which together lethally pushed the bird over the edge. I am a physician & had I been allowed to observe my bird condition during the treatment, I would not have allowed all of those ancillary studies with sedation. My bird was in a decent shape (functional with adequate energy- eating & drinking etc.) earlier today when I brought the bird to this clinic. Now it s dead. “First do no harm” was not observed; I feel that this exotic pet clinic was pushing procedures for $ without caring much for the pet.

When I called for the third time today I was once again told a vet would call me, but if my senior dog requires medications I wouldnt be able to pick it up until TOMORROW...nearly 48 HOURS after we dropped the sample. In the past weve received results and medication THE SAME DAY. On their on-hold recording they emphasize they can perform urinalysis on-site for faster results. Apparently thats not the case anymore. I was given an appointment on the day and at the time I asked for. There was very little wait when I arrived. I felt like the doctors and staff gave us the best care. They listen to my concerns and took great care with my pet. It’s hard to solve the concern I was there to address. Having seen other vets in the area with less positive results, Pender will become our vet of choice for the future. Over all, our visit was a very positive one.

Very concerned regarding all the long-term docs leaving, especially since I heard the company was purchased recently? whats going on in there? seems like everyone we know and trust is leaving, very rattling.
