As the Director of Career Services, I can say that it is an honor to come to work everyday and assist our students in changing their lives. The success of our students when they are on campus and the success of our graduates when they obtain that career is what makes me proud to say I work at Fortis Institute. We really CARE about our students and work hard everyday to ensure they are getting what they are putting into this school. Come check out our campus so you can start your future today!

My daughter is at Fortis Institute in Erie and Ill tell you she loves it! It really was the best decision she/we have ever made. She loves the faculty and staff and everyone treats her with respect and dignity and Ill be honest, we almost didnt visit the school because the school next to them told us they were going out of business. I now know that they were just lying to us to convince us to go to their school. Im glad we didnt listen to these lies (and quite frankly they should be ashamed of themselves) as we would 100% recommend the school to anyone and everyone who wants a better life for themselves.

I have worked at Fortis for 12 years and it has been a pleasure working with such great students, instructors, and staff. I have enjoyed every minute working with the different departments of the school to help our students succeed! From day 1, the philosophy has always been taking care of the students, they are the heart and soul of our school!!!

Ive been an instructor at Fortis for a little over a year. The other instructors, the administrators and students are great! We all work together. One think I noticed about Fortis is the personal attention and attitude the school gives to everyone. Not just students. When I started, I was told that instructors at the school need to reach out and care about every student. Students are not just a number. The school cares about them. And so do I. But it goes further than that. That caring extends out to fellow employees. I had to go into the hospital for a procedure, It was never a problem that I wouldnt be able to teach a term. My department head did what was necessary to make sure students were taken care of in my absence. And when I returned, I was welcomed back. Fortis is a great place to work, and great school to get an education.I am still an instructor at Fortis, now almost 4 years. I am still impressed. The students are great. The administration is fair. And we all look at the students as people. They are here to get a good job, and our job is to get them the knowledge to do a good job. They have to work hard. But we help by giving them hands on experience.

As a 17 year instructor at Fortis Institue, Erie I can state that the faculty at Fortis,, are some of the best in the state. We care about our students and are willing to go the extra mile to help any student who is willing to respond in a like manner. Teaching is a 2 sided venture, as an instructor I must be qualified, professional, and willing to go the extra mile to assist all of my students in achieving their academic goals. As a student you must have the desire, the drive, and ability to achieve near perfect attendance and be willing to go the extra mile to assist the school and instructors in achieving your academic goals.

I just read the review from Benjamin and the same thing happened to me. The school next door, I think it was called IBMC, told me that Fortis was going out of business and their landlord was going to kick them out of their buildings soon. Luckily I didnt believe the admissions person as it seemed like she just had a personal vendetta against Fortis and I ended up enrolling over a year ago and it has been great. I really love the faculty as they have been amazing and I have made the Deans list 3 times now when in HS, I had never even gotten an A before. I am excited about my future and glad that I didnt listen to other people and just trusted my gut. Do yourself a favor, dont listen to lies from other schools and visit all schools your interested in and make a decision on what you think is right. You will be happy you did.

Fortis Institute has a 72% retention rate and a 71% placement rate, as reported to its institutional accreditor on the most recent annual report (filed in November 2014). Do your research and compare with other local options. This school prepares you for your career by mimicking industry expectations and experiences while you are in the classroom. Practice makes perfect, so you are rehearsed and confident by the time you have your first interview. An outstanding choice if you are ready to put in the effort.

This For-profit schools standards have been dropping for a long time. Currently, this division of Fortis has ceased new enrollments and will not be renewing its lease in Erie, PA. Once the final class graduates, it will close its doors permanently, but they dont advertise that on its website yet. According to the US Department of EDs collegescorecard website, it has only a 41% graduation rate. Most teachers have little if any real world experience in the areas they teach. Many teachers are former graduates that havent experienced any real world experience. Placement services and student services are non-existent. This school is a diploma mill - churning out carbon copy students with big amounts of debt and very little hope of finding a job. Once the school closes, I guess the lifetime placement services and the two free audit classes will be gone as well - huh? Good Riddance!

I am absolutely appalled that the claim is we go above and beyond for our students, not true. Instead of my daughter being done in December she now has to go til March, apparently there is no way for any time to make up for a missed class, it has been done for other students but its ok when class is cut short because the instructors have appt. Dont pick n choose make it fair across the board.

I was working full time overnights and also going to school in the evening. My program was in IT as a Solutions Developer (programming, web design, Microsoft office). I stuck it out with many bottles of mountain dew and jelly beans for energy. Even when I found out that I have diabetes and had to stop the candy and switch to diet dew. Even when the instructor thought I wouldnt make it, I kept goingFinally graduating with the Associate degree and then got a Microsoft Office Specialist diploma. It got me a good job until old age caught up to me. Now all the different programming languages run together in my mind. Fortis, I would have done it again but at a much younger age.

Terrible---very disappointing. Of the 26 students that entered the LPN program with my daughter, 3 graduated. That is shameful. Very unprofessional, uncoordinated, sloppy program.Update 6/29/17--Dysfunction goes straight to the top administrators at this institution. We meet with the President to have my daughters concerns addressed, he seemed very concerned and compassionate and told her he would respond to her within a couple of weeks. After numerous phone calls and dropping by the school, we finally gave up. He never gave her a final response and on one occasion when she stopped in, he was completely clueless as to who she was or her issues. Stay far away from Fortis.
